You have a great attitude and your drive is nice and smooth and good planning and thought for all road users - any company should be glad to have you. Good luck!
Glad to see you back Luke mate, my dad drives both rigid and artic tippers, he's on around 16 an hour average, he does about 8 to 11 hours a day. He said the only downside is quarry work, he said you can get stuck quite easily and have to wait to get towed out
Its great to have you back really cheerful, I started to get worried about you after christmas. If you get a job that suits you and you see the family its a win win.
Driven 3 different tractor units Actros - bumpy ride but nicely laid out cab R450 - smooth but dated feeling, good mirrors FH16 - far superior in all respects
All the best on the class 2 interview/job mate. Got to admit, back when you were doing the tarmac/tipper work were my fave vids, granted you'd only just started so everything was fresh, but just seemed as though you enjoyed that type of job a lot more.
I said also in a previous vlog that likes best vlogs were from his tipper days... I also preferred trucker jays vlogs back in his plasman days in the rigid's
Great vlog Luke, i won't spill the beans on which company it is although i think some might have guessed when you were in the trailer lol and a subtle hint near the end of the vlog which i picked up on haha
When I worked for Palmer and Harvey, a guy I spoke to told me he was advised getting a class 1 wasn't worth doing. I've got a class 1 and if you can get into petrol tankers then a class 1 is worth doing but getting tanker work is impossible. I had an ADR in tanks but could never get a job so I've decided not to renew it. I regret wasting my time and money.
Hi mate, welcome back. I've recently moved from the North East down to Swindon for more experience in my driving. Is there any companies or place you could suggest to have a look at. Class 1 & 2 but no experience in class 1. Thank you for your time mate.
Hey Luke, I have been thinking about taking some Class 1 or 2 lessons for a long time now, but haven't yet pulled the trigger. I worry about lack of work out there and I've read of poor pay and conditions for newly qualified drivers. Whats your experience of it? Also, when you go for lessons do they teach you how to manager the various trailers and the strapping requirements?
@@blah7918 nah, my situation doesn't allow it atm. If I do go for it, I will most likely go class 2 when I do. Class 2 tends to give more regular shift jobs.
@@phixi0n noticed that. 6 month to a years experience. Perhaps joining a company that provide their own training, and then a guaranteed job with that company straight after. That could be a good route
Quite a long route from Swindon to Carterton. I know Highworth - Lechlade won't work due to the bridge weight limit, but I'd have expected A420 towards Oxford, then A415 from Kingston Bagpuize to Witney and across to Carterton from there. Seen lots of trucks on those roads, perhaps your satnav likes a scenic tour? When commuting to Carterton, from your home, A419 to Blunsdon, then across to Highworth - Lechlade, North on A361 for a mile or so, then right at Broughton Poggs (yes really). Nice route, not too heavily trafficked. Fuel at Carterton ASDA is as cheap as Swindon usually - unmanned.
Hi Ryan, it was just something i wasn’t sure of from my revision for my CPC module 4 show and tell test i had earlier today, but turned out to be very easy, I think. ...the ministry plate has the max load weight & the axle weight and also the train weight, so if it’s an 18 ton rigid then the train weight might be 21 ton which is the max load plus the cab ...if you were to weigh on a weigh bridge for example , that’s my guess.
I know you said you didn’t want to mention the agency you’re with - but I could do with some hints of to which agencies to go sign up with for hgv class 2 work?
After Brexit the borders will be sealed and the coast will be patrolled by gammon faced nationals screaming "we got are cuntry bak" and looking for forriners to deport.....
Good to see the Vlogs continue Luke, I think you need to get a new microphone as it keeps cutting out/ stops working sometimes in the Vlogs. Keep up the good work!
Great to see you back Luke, hope you are well and you get the job with the class 2 company if not you could stay with the agency but be mindful regarding the cameras do they don’t get annoyed - keep up the top work 😀
Hi Good to see you back. And good luck with the interview. There are well paid c2 work but not that common, and tend if well paid like c1 to come with some sort of sacrifice like being away or limited holidays or other recriaments. But there is the odd one that is well paid with little sacrifice but rear. On the agency side it’s not the busiest time of year for them. Good vid. Nice to see you working 😂..
Thank you Luke great video you not lost your touch 😂😂. Nice to have you back were you belong. Hope all goes well with the job interview Wishing you the. Very best. Take care and stay safe John Whitehouse.
Good to see you back in the seat Luke C. Good agency tips there thanks. Just got the medical back, was told by one that the Theory test will be in 3 to 4 weeks! I was thinking Whaaa! That long away?...! Is there any way of getting a theory test booked to happen within days rather than weeks?
nice one Luke but if you are driving a Volvo the User Manual states that on joining a dual carriageway or motorway you should immediately move out from the slip road into the middle lane without any form of indication
I travel from bassett to Witney every morning , it’s 40 mins flat. Don’t get stuck behind the morning Royal Mail lorry. 🤦🏻♂️ I’m on rigids and I take £600+ a week
The hand brake comes off automatically when you put your foot on the accelerator. Iceland.is alright if you enjoy multi drop and moving cages and pallets around
If anyone asks which company you were driving for...... seriously watch it again and when he’s moving the pallets in the trailer you should get a big clue 🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
Matt How is it untrue and a stupid statement? I’m doing class 2 hiab work now, earning more money than class 1 and home at 5 every night, I’ve been trucking 24 years now, trust me, the money is hardly different between the two these days.
Matt I’m taking £560 a week including bonus, but I don’t start till 8, do 2 or 3 drops s day and I’m usually back in the yard finished by 3, you ain’t getting that pay, for them hours on ANY class 1, trust me.

Good to see you back Luke. Good luck with your new ventures. Sure it will work out fine in the end. Stay safe. Mick🇬🇧
Its great to have you back really cheerful, I started to get worried about you after christmas. If you get a job that suits you and you see the family its a win win.
I'm earning more now as a class 2 driver than I was driving class 1 mate, I think the pay gap between the two righty or wrongly is getting closer.
Excellent truck, gearbox is second to none and they are a very solid truck to drive.
Driven 3 different tractor units
Actros - bumpy ride but nicely laid out cab

Yes I know that is the quickest mate 👌 I went the way I was asked to go by the transport office
After wanting to do my hgv for years I've just booked my class 2. So excited to get it done finally
The pay is low, I did truck driving between jobs.
Wish you luck getting the new class2 job it will be much better than nights out in hotel MAN
Hi Luke, i have my CPC module 4 tomorrow, what’s the difference between gross weight & train weight on the ministry plate ?
