Wincanton Transport were originally part of United Dairies, later Unigate Creameries. I think they were employed on bulk milk movement after the railway stopped transporting milk. I can remember Wincanton Transport being mentioned in the UD/UC staff magazine. And yes, they were based in Wincanton.
Needs more reversing cameras. With all due respect I don't want to see his face when reversing. Try to get some pointed into the mirrors or before going in to places stick a gopro on the back.
Luke, love the videos many thanks. Wincanton Haulage has been going for years (c100?), they used to shift Vinegars at 5,000 gallons a tanker load for Manor Vinegar to all the Heinz sites back in the mid 60s when I was uni-student working there making the stuff in the hols, and they were "old" even then. Keep up the good work.

Love your positivity Luke, I used to drive all over Europe in an XF 105 back when they were manual 🙄. Can’t do HGV any more for medical reasons, but love the vids mate watched most of your older ones. Cheers lad.
Currently 19, turning 20 in august saving up for my HGV licence in south wales (damn expensive) Currently a delivery driver for asda in a van, looking forward to getting my licence and these videos help lol.
Another Honitonion here, the strange thing is, I've also worked over at avalon farm recently doing the main switchgear. What a small world we live in. Great video
Wincanton Transport did start in Wincanton. It was a subsidiary of a Guildford based dairy company who had bought a dairy in wincanton (they became Cow & Gate), they decided to open the engineering part of their business in Wincanton, which also included Transport. 👍
OH! Another interesting fact about Wincanton... its twinned with Ankh-Morpork. Terry Pratchett used to live nearby, and there's a Disc World shop there.
An excellent video as always Luke, do miss driving bigger vehicles since retiring, just drive a little minibus in the afternoon now, keeps me off the streets🤔😂 keep up the good work and stay safe! 😀🚛
I've noticed you're a very good backer-upper... some people can do, some are, as you would say, absolute knobs. I am spatially aware enough and can drive fairly equally backwards as forwards and can do a single trailer as well. Once did a double-trailer and for some reason that was the death of me.
Never watched trucking before ,looks a brilliant life ,I've just realised how difficult it must be to drive a hgv, I'll be more aware of the turning circle in future ,i didnt know all these breaks you have to have ,hats off mate ,by the way whats the black splat on the windscreen it's bugged me from start to finish ,great stuff
Correct me if I am wrong. Double lines need to be solid and continuous and not broken to be legal, and a T bar at each end. Worn Double Yellow lines are not true Double Yellow's anymore. When patch work has been done, I have seen yellow paint to join the yellow lines back up again. This law may well be worth checking for parking overnight on side roads. Also possibly photograph the broken lines before parking, incase should one get a parking ticket.
you always make me LOL when you miss pronounce the places you are going to. Honington is over past Bury St Edmonds in Suffolk you were at Honiton is in Devon
I was wondering if you got paid for a night out. My price includes 2 hours demurrage and any night outs. Thankfully I can choose my jobs being semi-retired. The truck has only done 180,000 in two years.
@@lukecinahgv if you go through with the HGV can you tape it? I have done it but in a motor vehicle. It has always been the fun part of the drive through Swindon. I went to infant school near the roundabout before it was magically.
No idea mate. Never done it. I did once have a colleague who would get a ferry to Bilbao from Portsmouth. So that would probably be my starting point. And of course from Bristol, M32, M4, A34, M3 to the M27 to Portsmouth. Once in Bilbao, Spain, I would be guessing completely
Fair play luke but some things made to look harder than others mate ! Been doing this 30 years! Give ya self more credit and £26 a night ain’t good enough 🤙🏻
Really?Wincanton seem to be losing some contracts but they are big big company . They trained me on Class 1 then put me on drinks contract but lost it within 6 months. So basically got Class 1 for free😂(from buses).
