Hello Luke. Funny seeing you delivering at one of my old delivery points in Chessington. In regards to the Police vans & Cars they use the ground at the rear of the Garden Centre to let the Police dogs have a run around & do some training. Also they like to sit in there so they can get onto the M25 quickly.
Living in a small village which has huge lorries thundering through which when one is walking on a narrow footpath beside the road isn't nice. Also some lorries churn up the grass verges with no thought of slowing down when meeting other vehicles. . It's a pity all drivers aren't as considering as Luke. Thanks for your videos which I have recently found on RUclips
Hi Luke, those two garden centres used to be two of my drops when I worked for a wholesale supplier to garden centres. strange seeing them again ten years after the company i worked for went bankrupt (due to the new owners getting greedy!)
My company is going to pay for my HGV training when I pass my theory and hazard perception tests next week. I will be learning and driving in Cornwall on the narrow roads so I am sure if I can drive an arctic here I can drive one anywhere else!
Hi Luke. The truck complainers. When they go to the loo and there is no paper . Put up a sign = ( There is no toilet paper due to the fact that the truck that brings it is not allowed in this village. So bring your own! ) have a nice stay at our Hotel 😂🦃🦃🦃💪
So strange seeing you in going around the area I live around, for both Chessington & Squires! Also van at the beginning a right bell - ran the red light for the left-turn lane.
Great video Luke. Talking about SNAP, I agree, its so easy for you guys. I know its completely different, but when me and my hubby visited France with the caravan, we have a device in the car, so that when you approach the toll booths on their motorways, you drive slowly through (we used the lane for the HGVs), the device bleeps, the barrier raises and away you go, and you get the invoice at the end of the month. So easy to use🙂

Sorry for what your going through with your grandad Luke it's hard very hard to watch I lost both my dad and grandad to it two of my biggest hero's and I miss them both sill to this day
Passed my class 2 test this week, I'm seeing why companies are saying they have a shortage of drives. 99% of jobs seem to not want newly passed drivers.
Years ago the companies would put an experienced driver with a new recruit to make sure they learned the ropes. What you have to remember is that it is not the drivers responsibility for company profits, if the office has quoted the wrong price then its the office not the driver who is to blame.
Hi demise well done on passing your class 2 👍🏻. It is hard to get on as a new driver but keep trying ok. My advice would be try your local council on the bin trucks even an agency that my have link's to the council ok. There are companies that will take & train you so don't be discouraged. You will find a job ok 👍🏻 good luck 👍🏻
I got onto an agency and was doing all sorts of driving, from vans to 7.5tonners and then eventually got in a class 2. No one asked what vehicles I had been driving, it just looked like I had experience as I could say I’ve done multi drop/general haulage or whatever with such and such, basically a little bit of bending the truth. Now a happy class 1 driver on containers and loving it!
@@rdtruckinguk8532 Good for you, it's not the vehicle types but the type of loads you need for the experience. Don't be afraid to refuse to take loads your not sure about.

Hi luke, love the content! I'm studying for my theory and will book lessons once passed. Whats your view on people passing a test in a draw-bar lorry to then drive articulated lorry? I've been told by a training school it's cheaper and easier but I'm thinking I'd rather pay more rather than cutting corners to learn properly. I'd be keen to hear your opinion
We have draw bar lorries( wag and drag) at Perry's recycling and I did an assessment drive in a wag and drag set up, the trailer follows the unit( rigid) much better and doesn't cut corners so much as an artic, reversing them is much the same but don't make big movements on the steering wheel or it will soon go in the wrong direction
am going right to a class 1 myself and am baffled that its possible... though am doing it through work on a governmentfunded 12 month apprenticship that seems to involve a lot more checks on standards. otherwise id question if it was the best idea myself haha. id say if your comfortable and are paying attention should be fine if ya take ya time. just done be like too many of the tools passing at the moment who cant even drive cars nevermind artics. seen too many trucks turn up at workt that cant even reverse
@@Gazzxy I see far too many van drivers like that everyday and each time I think to myself hope they never try driving a truck! Most can't even back up a small van in a straight line
I've done wagon and drag mainly on demountable boxes using 4 wheel drawbars with a combined converter dolly so there's actually 2 pivot points but once you've got the hang of it and learned the physics of the geometry you can reverse the skeletons under the demountable box van to load the trailer first then drop it off to load the box onto the prime mover then of course you have to re couple to the trailer. Usually best use a banksman but if you don't have a banksman then I've just reversed the drag and prime mover between the legs of the demount and secured the box on the prime mover then reversed the trailer under the demount for the trailer. Sounds complicated but if you can keep the running gear in view before you straighten up then sit up on the mirrors for the last couple yards everything should go OK without hitting the legs or damaging the ground draging the bottom of the legs. Either way you'll pick it up. Pun.
@@das5813 I'm not questioning if I could drive it, I was more concerned that the driver school who are meant to get people ready for the road are suggesting a short cut to get into an articulated lorry. Hi Luke, I bet those residents who complain about the HGV'S have no problem with them delivering to their personal address or to a local shop but to a local company trying to keep its business going is a no no! Same for me in the dustcart collecting cardboard from businesses wherever they are located 🙄 some people are never happy unless they are moaning about something, have a good week out next week
I used to think that the same, my gripes were with the councils for not planing the roads and access properly for trucks to service the businesses that paid for the councils in the first place. Talking about corruption, I did make enquiries once about weight and width restrictions and found that they usually involve a resident in the street who is a Councillor who used his position to get trucks banned because he thought they lowered the value of his house. How sinful. Members of the council shamelessly using the council for their own benefits.
they probably took all the say no signs down when they realised if they stopped the trucks they get no more goods.. that or someone extracted the sticks from their backsides
The whole ideas of the motorway service stations was to comply with the laws on local authorities legal responsibility to provide amenities for travellers and goods vehicle drivers. These were designed to be free of charge in compliance with the 'Free movement of goods order'. The introduction of charges was a Conservative government money making racketeering using a discreditable excuse for the maintenance of the facilities which should've been free anyway. Also, many companies were forcing the drivers to pay parking and costs out of their own pockets which was totally wrong. About damaging the grass verges, they have changed the laws now and you can be prosecuted for any damage caused but I've never heard of anyone getting prosecuted, especially as it's farmers and councils mainly responsible for the damage anyway.
