      Get hearthfire, 2 kids (sofia absolutely), wife, + the huscarl already here and the chamberlain in any of the manor (even a bard if ya want), little community, safe if ya take a good chamberlain (anyone specialised in two hands weapon with the weapon of the giant will be over powered) with the huscarl (and even more if you marry a warrior lol) and the manor builded in your wishes (even if pre constructed) in the region you like the most in the wild of skyrim, and there it is.
      Or install mod that can give castle and a real court, or a big tavern for yourself, or houses/manor ect. It's not minecraft though so if we want a special manor/house/castle ect 100% in your taste, have to mod it yourself.

    • @classymuffin4589
      @classymuffin4589 Год назад +33

      Imo in terms of utility it's actually one of the best houses in the game, if you get a mod which just adds an enchanting table to it (which there are many of) then it IS the best house in the game. It's cheap (with the use of certain exploits to do with a certain vendor and cupboard you can actually get it for free), early-game accessible, right next to several of the best merchants in the game, right next to a smithy, it's right next to a fast travel point, has a chest and that's literally all you need from a house.

    • @maddlarkin
      @maddlarkin 9 месяцев назад +3

      @classymuffin4589 Agreed, with the right mod its the best home in the game, my preferred isBreezehome by Lupus, doesn't do anything to crazy with the layout, adds the basics you need and even provides some storage chests round the corner at the smithy so you don't have to do the over encumbered waddle back and forth from the house. Can be a pain to get it running if you've got some interior lighting mod but onces it's sorted my easily my favourite

      Best Daedric quest is the Thieves' Guild questline (Nocturnal). You get lots of stuff (Nightingale Armor, Sword, Bow, and a power) and if you wanted, you could just not finish the last quest and keep the Skeleton Key. Worst is Namira's quest. It's a boring quest done by a boring prince with perhaps the worst artifact in the game (aside from the Rueful Axe).

      facts... I organize all my stuff in the house storage containers and it has enough that i can store all my stuff "orgnaized" by theme, and when i later buy and start building my own heartfire ones i move. As you said.. its got beggers for +barter buff, 1 gen store, 1 potion store, 2 (3 if you count drunken huntsmen) armor/weapon stores, 2 food shops (mid-late when you can invest to increase gold/sell any item to any merchant perks), tavern for quests/drinks.

    Honeyside is the best house in the game besides the "build-a-house" ones, especially if you want to have kids. Did you know that you can start a city wide game of hide and seek or chase by entering and leaving the orphanage. And it has a cute garden on the side as well as a fishing dock.

    My personal favorite part of Breezehome is the fact that it's right between the market district and the entrance to Whiterun. Sure, it sucks by Skyrim house standards, but that convenient placement was very helpful, especially when I needed to grab Lydia to help me and the Stormcloak gang ransack the very city where I was the thane.

    I respect your choice of ranking, but mine would be almost the opposite, lol. Honeyside is my favorite (after Lakewiev Manor if you're counting in households), it feels really comfy for some reason, it looks really warm and cosy inside, no any cold stones like in Markarth or Solitude, nice balcony with beautiful wiev. you have everything your character would need in it (alchemy table, enchanting etc). Also a big plus from me is that it isn't too big and fancy like Proudspire Manor or Severin Manor. I dont like building household with all its wings for the same reason, with one room it looks like a cosy little cottage, too bad you can't place crafting stations in it

    One aspect I noticed you didn't take into account was containers; this one thing drops Proudspire Manor to the bottom for me; it has fewer places to store my stuff than any of the other houses, and the few it does have are horribly inconvenient. Having to go into another room to stash/retrieve your alchemy supplies (I'm looking at you, Honeyside) SUCKS, especially when the room is your housecarl's bedroom.

    Breezehome gets bonus points from me for its REALLY convenient location, both within the game in general and within Whiterun itself. It's right in the centre of the map and I always find myself spending loads of time in Whiterun Hold. And within the city it's right next to the city gate, right next to a forge, a stone's throw away from an alchemy table, there's no shortage of stores, etc.
    The only real disadvantage it has it that the enchantment table is all the way up in dragonsreach...
    I always found it basically makes all the other vanilla player homes redundant lol.

    I also role-play that my character ends the Civil War on the side of the Empire, but personally takes in a lot of the homeless or now displaced Stormcloak veterans in that house. They live and eat there, able to take up a trade or, if they are too old, just live their lives in a nice house in peace, reminiscing about the good old days.

    Lol, Honeyside is actually my favorite house. It's not too pricey, I love Riften, and you get an enchanter and alchemy table. I actually like that it's small, too. I get the criticism, though. I never adopt kids but it would suck to have to get rid of the enchanting table just to house them. My least favorite is Hjerim...possibly because I hate Windhelm and the civil war questline. I find it depressing and it's the former lair of a serial killer. Plus, back in the day, I could never actually get all the blood and stuff cleaned up. I like Breezehome because of the location. I tend to spend more time in Whiterun than any other place, and I especially like being able to go next door to have two different weapons vendors (if I get there at the right time of day). There's the smelter and forge right there, although it's a pain going to the castle to enchant stuff. I prefer Winstad Manor over the others if I'm not using survival mode. I don't think the location is ugly, but it is really inconvenient without fast travel. Any other time and it is my absolute favorite house just for how useful it is for stealth or mage characters (I insist on keeping the three types of additions matching, so that one always has three towers) I hate the Pale and spend as little time there as possible, so I've only bought the property one time. Lakeside Manor is in a really convenient spot, and you can fast travel and still get the well rested bonus in Falkreath, Riverwood, and Whiterun, hitting up all the shops and selling my expensive loot. On the downside, the constant bandit and giant attacks mean you can't keep livestock alive.

    Skyrim Stat Bars Ranked Worst to Best:
    Worst: Stamina Bar
    - Only good thing about it is extra carry weight as it’s upgraded, it runs out too fast and is hilariously weak against Ice.
    Middle: Magicka Bar
    - Only really weak to Electricity, and it allows you to do stuff heal yourself, shoot fireballs at Heimskr, buff your allies, lay traps for Heimskr, transmutate ore, and summon Atronachs to kill Heimskr.
    Best: Health Bar
    - By far the best bar in the game, so long as this baby stays above zero you get to keep playing the game. Absorb Health Enchantments are a thing, as well as Extra Health, so that’s neat.

      Health is second while you can invest in it all it does is give you a bigger buffer which armor rating and magical resistances also work towards.
      Stamina gives more carrying weight in addition to more stamina and stamina costs can only be reduced by perk points.

    For me my favorite "home" is Windstad Manor for Morthal. I can't explain why, but I love being on the coast with snow right along the channels of a swamp. It feels really unique. My problem with the other homes often is they are too big for my lazy ass, I sort items around in chests but I love how everything in BH is compact. Honeyside is great if you have kids, they will engage in a giant tag game with the locals. The big downside is fast traveling to it is a pain.
    Breezehome is accessible right next to the Whiterun fast travel point. That's its only upside.
    Severin Manor is terrible in terms of accessibility because you have to leave Skyrim to get to it. No kids, no wife. Awful.
    Vlindrel Hall is annoyingly placed in the city. I hate this house.
    Proudspire Manor has the upside of having kids in the area, it looks great but the location makes it annoying to travel to. It's annoying to have to walk through Solitude constantly.
    Hjerim is, yet again, placed away from a fast travel point.
    Windstead manor is the best by far due to the CC fishing addon.

    Only thing that could make the Hearthfire houses even better is, if you could change thematic visuals. Heljarchen Hall is close to the Tower of Mzark, so being able to add dwemer tapestries to the walls, dwemer pipework or a model observatory for the mage-theme tower would've been kinda cool. Or even something basic like using different types of wood or stone for building.

    2. Riften honeyside: good light, enough space, I like the space division
    3. Whiterun Breezehome: ideal for a single, warm, the best to start
    Just a note for Windhelm Hejerim: I really really really don't like its "open space" approach, its layout, its colors...

    Breezehome is generally the first home you unlock and the cheapest, so it makes sense that it would have the least in terms of amenities. That said, it's also really close to the gate and to a smelter, reducing the length of time for the Long Slow Walk of the Looter - which is one of my fave things about the house. But that's also why a Breezehome mod that fixes a lot of its shortcomings is on my must-have list. Tho I do prefer mods that try to maintain the character of the house as a small cottage over the ones that add every single amenity to it.
    No matter that I like other player homes more than Breezehome, Breezehome is almost always the one I end up using the most because it's just so conveniently placed.

  • @snapwilson316
    @snapwilson316 Год назад +6

    I almost always choose Breezehome because it's in Whiterun, the best city to live, where everything is easy to find, and you're a stone's throw away from everything you need. You may not have a forge yourself, but Warmaiden's is right next door. Alchemy table? Hit up Arcadia's. Enchanting table? Pop on up to Dragonsreach! Don't be such a shut-in, go and say hi to your neighbors! Hit the stalls for fresh meat and veggies to cook in your smoke-filled living room. Okay, there are no mannequins, but who keeps mannequins in their house? Psychopaths, that's who. May as well just grab a follower, station them at your house and dress them up in whatever armor on them you want, it's only slightly less creepy.
    Hjerim may give you the best non-Hearthfire house, but it's in Windhelm, which is cold, ugly, and has a layout designed by sadists. There's a serial killer and some creepy kid who wants to hire assassins and everyone seems to know about this but nobody does anything. And people want the Stormcloaks to rule the land.
    Proudspire Manor is an okay alternative, if you don't mind living amidst big city sprawl. Solitude is huge, but easy to navigate. It turns out the main reason to side with the Imperials is they have a far better grasp of city planning.
