  • Hey Gang, I'm making more progress on the Mach 1 Cobra Jet. Detroit speed mini tub issues and more work on the bottom of the Mach 1. I wanted to address some of the welds, and grind down excess material. Turns out there's still a lot to do. I did not get any sealer on the car yet, but I'm working on it. I also received a batch of parts for the car. Good things are coming.

Pump and what about balljoints ?? Also got a story about those side panels to the rear seat. In 1969 when my dad purchased his mach 1 , I would have been 4 years old little brat. I remember sitting on top of those box panel instead of the rear seat, reason been that I was too small to see outside the car. I would sit sideways holding to my dads front seat like a passenger on a motor bike. He never complained to me. That would have driven me crazy if my kid did that to me. He owned that car between 1969 and late 1971 in exange for a 1972 Ford Econoline. My mother cried when he sold that car. Good memories !!

Ball joints are already in the control arms.

This is why I don’t consider the days work done until I grind EVERYTHING. On panel or small project at a time. It get deburred and welds ground. I run my bare hand on everything that I work on and make sure it won’t snag me next time I touch or run into it.

I liked using the red sanding brushes from Harbor Freight for tight areas. They also worked great for removing the sealant around the windshield.

I was initially asked to just do the sheet metal work. I will probably be painting it. I do not plan to assemble everything.

The top wheelhouse brackets are only there to support latches for foldown seat option.

like christmas morning. Loved when parts arrived. I agree that it looks like the mini tubs are pushing the side trim into the seats and you can just trim the panels . Plus I cannot believe there are SO many little pieces just for the rear seats . really coming together, hopefully she will soon be ready for the next step in its life

The brackets on the top wheelhouse are for the fold down seat, but I think you still need them for the non- folding seat. That is what the seat back attaches to….I think. If that’s the case, I hope the mini tubs haven’t changed the attaching points. Maybe install the rear seat back and see if it will attach to those brackets. Sorry if things like this keep you up at night!! Great work and entertaining!

Great video Barry. Do you have the fold down rear seat that you can test the bracket's location with? Also don't forget that the rear interior panels are flush with the windlace that goes along that area and adds probably 1/4 inch at least that was on my 1965 and 1966 Mustang Fastback.

Keep up the great work, I know the prep work seems to never end. What do you think about the upper and lower control arms? Are the silver ends paint or cleared over bare metal? Just curious. Thanks

Brutal getting that weld primer off. Thoughts on painting to the trans crossmeber. Easy tape off point

  • @tomanziano169

Hey Barry. Wouldn't a product like acetone, lacquer thinner or even wax and grease remover work well with wiping off the remaining weld through primer and still leave a contaminated free, bare metal surface for painting?
