Hello Skullz ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me.
Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience.
About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners.
Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory):
" Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland.
Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition.
Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her.
There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps.

Nothing like stumbling across the most rewarding rabbit hole in music. Lead vocalist Floor Jansen has the most beautiful emotion evoking voice I have ever heard. And Tuomas Holopainen on keys is an absolute musical genius, writing masterpiece after masterpiece. The calibre of this band is top notch. You are really going to enjoy this journey. Whoa. So I see Nightwish, I click. New to you, not too new to NW. The pronunciation of “Wacken” is German W=V (Vacken is how we say it). Now even before GLS began, something remarkable caught my eye, perhaps triggering my PTSD a little. Your intro. What’s up with that? We’re you addicted at one point? Now I can’t speak for everyone here, but Nightwish is so much more than a band. They are capable of healing ❤️🩹 your heart ♥️, your soul, they HELP me stay clean…they brighten up my life in the most darkest of times. They brought countless of amaaaaaazing people into my life as well. No offense to Amy Lee, but Floor Jansen is on a whole new level. She’s Dutch, maybe that’s why you got the epic Viking vibe. Or it’s her sheer presence that shocks us to our core. I can admit it, I am 💯 fanatical when it comes to Floor, and her brothers in Nightwish. Ghost Love Score is one of the greatest songs ever written. My journey started with “The Greatest Show on Earth” and from that very moment I was hooked. Perhaps you can check that one out next! The comment from Papa Nightwish (Gabriel) should be pinned, so you can get the info needed, and a playlist started. Just pause them videos immediately so you can’t peek! I made it through this whole video just to watch your face at the end “the note” that even Floor is like whoa 🤯 when she watched this on her channel! Go subscribe to her channel, join her channel membership if you can! There are 2 people missing from this group presently. Marco Hietala (the real Viking!) who plays the bass, and Jukka (the pirate drummer who dances behind his kit!) Marco has a few bands (Tarot, Powerless Trio, and Northern Kings) give them a go too! He left the band last January on the 12th 😔 but I still got major love for Marco! Jukka is still with NW, only behind the scenes more so. Gabriel has given you a plethora of information, that you should pay attention to! The Nightwish Army will guide you! They welcome you with open arms! I should know! I have the gift of a meet and greet ticket in 165 days from now! I cannot wait!!! Please continue on this journey, it’s definitely a rabbit hole that you’ll never want to leave. Back to that intro of yours. Heroin used to be my warm hug. A little over 7 years ago, I said goodbye once and for all. Now Nightwish is my warm hug! Whenever I’m happy, I pop on some Nightwish, whenever I’m sad…I play some Nightwish. And for sharing your story with the band ❤ Sorry if the video triggered you at the beginning, I was never an addict myself but I've watched a bunch of my family, friends, and people in my city go through addiction. I've also seen the people around them not understanding what addiction really is. I did the song/video to raise awareness and offer hope that recovery is possible! It's quite rare to see a reactor 'get it' first time out. Tuomas Holopainen is an extraordinarily talented composer. His 'songs' are, without exception, beautifully crafted works of art. He's sometimes called the 'metal Mozart' (forget the metal bit...Mozart would have used modern technologies in the same way). I enjoyed your reaction, and look forward to seeing your journey with this band.

It’s always nice when someone who knows something about musicianship and composition discovers this band for the first time. I’m sure you will get the full history and recommendations from Gabriel , but I would just add that if you listen to more of their music you’ll realize a few things:
1. They are incredibly versatile…no two of their songs really sound alike.
2. Marko, the bass player, is also an amazing singer.
3. Tuomas, the keyboard player who composes the majority of the music and lyrics, is a genius.
4. The more you listen to Floor sing, the less you’ll find she has in common with Amy Lee.

One of the all time incredible performances by Nightwish Wacken 2013 the entire show is simply mind-blowing, welcome to the rollercoaster ride of a lifetime, the Nightwish train is one that is hard to get off. A pleasure to see your raw reaction to hearing Nightwish for the very first time. Nightwish break all the rules, but it works, simply Epic! I'm a big fan (can you tell 😁🤘🔥).

Wacken 2013 concert is always a good place to learn about this bands capabilities. This was the 13th song of a 15 song concert. Every song will be your favorite. Every song is my favorite. Yup I really like Amy Lee - she has a wonderful voice, but no-one can touch Floor, she's in a league of her own. She's so versatile. And the band are such a well oiled machine, you can tell that they are all totally in syinch with each other.

Floor has said that despite her years of experience as a vocalist, she was very nervous prior to this performance. She had never performed for that size of a crowd. Added to that, sometime prior to this show the band had told her that they wanted her to be their permanent vocalist, as up until then she had been a temporary replacement for the tour. But the energy of the crowd energized her and she gave a fantastic performance. With respect to all other vocalists out there, I believe she has the most commanding stage presence since Freddie Mercury, in my opinion.

Welcome to the world of symphonic metal, Nightwish, and The Queen Herself Floor Jansen. For a long time it was somewhat lonely being a North American Nightwish/Floor fan but in the past year or so they're FINALLY getting their due this side the Atlantic. May I recommend Storytime from the same show for your next NW venture!
I think they owe the boom in popularity to the large number of reaction videos that have exploded in the pandemic.

I marvel most as this was Floor’s first concert as a permanent member of Nightwish. She toured with them in 2012 a couple of months to fill their singers place that became ill! She is the Valkyrie Queen that just commanded 82k concert goers! She is the boss! Still with them, & going strong!
She wasn't a permanent member, not officially at least, they had asked both her and Troy to become permanent members a month or so before this concert but they didn't announce it publicly until a few months after this concert.
I always smile when people are amazed by her voice early in the song. Oh, you haven’t heard anything yet.

The regular commentators on Nightwish reactions will suggest you take a look at Romanticide or even Storytime for your next reaction. They are both fine songs, indeed but, imo, show the diversity in Nightwish without retaining a connection to what you have enjoyed in Ghost Love Score. Given that you appeared to enjoy every aspect of that song, I suggest you take a look at "7 Days to the Wolves" live from Wembley, 2015 next. It shows Floor's vocal range and range in vocal styles (as does Romanticide and Storytime), it also introduces Marko as a vocalist (as does Romanticide). What it does that Romanticide and Storytime don't do is maintain that "epicness" or "bigness" that Ghost Love Score has. It also introduces the 6th member of the band, Troy, who doesn't appear on GLS, Romanticide or Storytime. I think 7 days is a better follow up for some who has enjoyed GLS as much as you have. Romanticide and Storytime are more for someone who is fence sitting...they're more mainstream

I often visit NW reactions. It was every morning until my dad passed away. I took a little hiatus, so why not come back to this one first?! Yes I’ve seen this! But the energy from not only NW and the crowd, but Skullz as well is just awesome. You can feel it! I mean, I know I can anyways. I can’t speak for everyone, but I can speak for all of us who’ve been touched by Floor & Nightwish. We all know “The FEELINGS” we get when we watch their videos. Back when I first commented on this video, I had 165 days left until the concert in NYC. Today it’s 85!!! I could watch a million NW reactions, and even do my own…I don’t think anything can prepare me for being there live!!! I hope some of you guys will be there, to help me if I fall out!!! That does it for me, I made it through the whole video again!!! “Top tier” excellent is right…great job Skullz!

As someone who grew up in the 80s listening to the hard rock then and into alternative rock in the 90s and 2000s, and to only discover the wonder of Nightwish 10 days ago??? What rock have I been under for the last 20 years? They ain't kidding when the Nightwish army talks about the rabbit hole. I listen to this song probably 3-4 times a day since, and have been very much enjoying the trip in just 10 days!. I have a lot of catching up to do, and the roadmap is in front of us. Buckle up as the music, the epicness, and the awe of Floor will take you to musical places you never new existed. Great reaction and pretty much same as mine..which was "WTF did I just experience?" "what is with this tear and goosebumps stuff?" and finally, "where can I get more of that?"

@@NorbertPueschel Lyric videos (or music video for Noise) for anything off Human :||: Nature, simply because with it being released during the beginning of the pandemic, they didn't play any of those songs live prior to the livestream concerts. Which means the only live video of any of those songs is fan-cams from the few concerts they've managed to hold so far. I've seen a few decent quality, mind, I think from Kuopiorock in July, but no professional live videos yet.

Symphonic Metal is almost unknown is North America, but huge in the rest of the world. It is the merge of symphony and metal music, often composed in chapters, deep poetic lyrics with stories varying from deep personal stuff to stories about the evolution of the Earth and wonders of the World. And everything is written - and performed - to give the audience the best ultimate experience of each song!
That's not an easy task - but you felt something that you haven't felt or expected = mission accomplished
👍 - that's Nightwish.
And just to warn you - this is highly addictive - you have only scratched the surface of Nightwish's and Floor's capabilities - we are talking 10 - 12% at most...
You could go for the whole concert - it's legendary!
But I would recommend you to read Gabriel's info once more and go for his list as a start. The links he has provided are all with great audio and correct speed. Unfortunately there are lots of bad Nightwish links out there - and unfortunately there are also a few unavoidable trolls.
If you stick to Gabriel's list and pick songs from 2013 and up - you will also be able to dicover the Nightwish internal evolution - when Floor and Troy joined the band permanently, the band got new energy and inspiration - and that is an exciting journey to follow.

Nice reaction. Brace for the Nightwish Army. Don't let them bully you lol. This and a couple of other songs are a little different to the rest of them, not that there is a stereotypical song by this band. It's a great rabbit hole to go down if you decide to though. Gabriel's links are the ones to use in whichever order you decide. There are timing/compression issues with some links out there.

Hello Skullz and welcome to the phenomenal world that is Nightwish! And I subbed for more! This whole Wacken 2013 concert is a blast. The singer is Floor Jansen (Yahn-sen) and as you can read in the very long list that our "General" Gabriel Bardac of the NW Army (and it is a huge, huge and dedicated army!!!) send you below (and which you can use as a guide line) she is from the Netherlands. She joined NW only 10 months before as NW fired their 2nd singer midway the US leg of their World Tour. She had to learn the setlist in 48 hrs. They made a docu about it "Please learn the setlist in 48 hrs", interesting to watch. This was her 1st performance in front of such a huge crowd. Most of them had never heard of her or had heard her sing but she blew them away from the start. GLS wasn't on the setlist but she knew the song so they added it. She experienced with the ending of the song and that high belt was the result. GLS was the 13th out of 15 songs. Wacken (Vah-ken) is a small village in the north of Germany and every 1st week of August hosts The Wacken Open Air Festival, the lagest metal festival of the world! The region is a cattle county so the adopted the bull logo. Wacken is a tiny little cutesy town in northern Germany, but once a year (pre-covid) they hold the "Wacken Open Air", which started a few years ago with like 5 bands a few hundred fans.
By this point it's tens of thousands of fans and they basically multiply the town by area and population for a weekend, then leave.

Hi, Nightwish Army Pennsylvania Division checking in. I have to say it always amuses me to watch another musician try to figure out the intro's time signature. It is in 6/8 but every 3rd bar they drop a beat into 5/8. That builds tension.
