Hi, I love your nightwish videos, please I have a request, please watch this video where Marco sings, let's call it a tribute to his unfortunately nightwish farewell. Nightwish - While Your Lips Are Still Red (Live at Wembley Arena) Thank you very much, kissss
I returned to this reaction - the second one this evening - and I noticed something weird. There is no way I wouldn't have given this a like, as seems also be the case with your first encounter with Floor being "Ghost love Score" which didn't seem to have a like from me either. Are likes disappearing after some time? In any case you received likes again on this and the other video, even though I'm convinced I gave them likes the first times I saw these reactions. Although I'm not quite familiar with the earnings model YT has agreed with creators like you, but I think the amount of likes is part of that; if in time likes are made to "disappear" it may reduce the earnings which I find - if true - a bit disturbing.
It's so nice to see somebody react to this who a) did their research and memorized it too b) already knows enough Latin to not need to look up what the lyrics mean c) draws a legitimate comparison between Tuomas composing and Mozart d) actually knows what the hell they're talking about e) likes it Thank you for existing xD you help bridge the already very small gap between the metal and classical genres
I would heart this a thousand times if I could. It feels so good to be appreciated for the extra work I put into making these videos awesome for you all. Thank you so much!

I saw them 5 months ago and when that part towards the end happened, the entire crowd literally stopped and was completely taken over with Floor’s voice. It was like the entire night stopped for a bit. Amazing 🤘
I saw them back in November myself and now that I've read this comment, its reminded me how quiet the arena was. Everyone in that room was silent as soon as the first syllable of the first Laudato came out

I absolutely love the reaction.. this is REAL reaction... with intelligent voice commentary. I can't get enough of these videos. Thank you for being authentic.
The first time I heard that last classical part in Latin, I cried my eyeballs out. So gorgeous and respectful. It still gives me the tingles all over my skull every time I hear it. A beautiful ode to Eugene Shoemaker.
The childlike innocence on Elizabeth's face when she tunes in is so, so beautiful to witness. It is that recognition that magic truly exists. Yes I love Elizabeth's reactions and am a new Nightwish/Floor fan. Truly magical 👍😊
I heard this song first live I am a huge Nightwish fan but had not heard this album yet before the concert she hit the opera passage and it was amazing my hair stood up on my arms I teared up it was beyond beautiful.
IMHO the Nightwish cruise live version of that song is better. People usually recommend the Wembley version because it has livelier atmosphere and Floor is more audible but the reason Floor is more audible is because Marco has been mic'ed down. I like Floor & Marco harmonizing when they have the same mic settings - they just blend together perfectly. I am not a big fan of the EQ settings on Floor's vocal track in any of the Wembley songs either. Whoever was the sound engineer that day made Floor sound slightly boomy and muddy. Compare that to her vocal track in Wacken 2013 the difference is night and day !
In an interview Floor said, that she discovered, that her operatic singing did a leap, lately. She also said, that it might be part of her voice maturing with age and that she wants so see further into it.
I hope so too. And perhaps as a bit of a baseline you might watch "Floor Jansen interview (with subtitles!) and Puccini Aria Live in Tiende van Tijl 2013-1-2". They bring her on a TV show all about classical music. The host introduces her and then shows the audience a Nightwish clip (watch some of their faces!) before she performs this lovely piece from Gianni Schicchi. You know, this metal...person...with the nose ring will dare to attempt opera? Hmmmph. ruclips.net/video/Od_qcbw3f5Q/видео.html Enjoy!
Wow, Floor is getting better, how can we keep up, I’m already overwhelmed with tears and goosebumps 🤣, what an amazing voice and highly impressive music and song writing.
I have two thoughts. Troy's vocals are such a great addition to the band, and Tuomas is beyond musical genius. Thank you for your insight into this song. Always a pleasure.
Every time I play Shoemaker I know I'm going to replay the last section over and over again because it is so gorgeous. I get full body shivers every time I hear it.
Same here, I get an odd throat knot every time I read the lyrics, like in not being able to try and sing a single riff without my voice breaking. It's just so beautifully written it blows me away.
Floor told in one of her YT videos that the operatic vocals part took her some time to get just right as she is a perfectionist. They had already recorded the vocals for the song & were pretty happy with them, but Floor decided to give it one more go. So she took an audio track with also the choir in it, as previously she had sung her part without hearing the choir, and used it at her home studio for recording her vocals once more & was finally completely satisfied with them. P.S. Because the Moon is tidally locked with the Earth, one side of the Moon always faces toward Earth. Interpretation of this fact would lead one to believe that the Earth's position is fixed on the lunar sky and no earthrises can occur; However, the Moon librates slightly, which causes the Earth to draw a Lissajous figure on the sky. This figure fits inside a rectangle 15°48' wide and 13°20' high (in angular dimensions), while the angular diameter of the Earth as seen from Moon is only about 2°. This means that earthrises are visible near the edge of the Earth-observable surface of the Moon (about 20% of the surface). Since a full libration cycle takes about 27 days, earthrises are very slow, and it takes about 48 hours for Earth to clear its diameter.

Wonderful reaction Elizabeth. I've been following your Nightwish reactions Since the Ghost Love Score and your journey of discovery has been so much fun to watch.
Oh yes, this is a must - it's a really good video for voice-coach analysis too, since you can see and hear everything she's doing without the camera moving off her.
Agreed, if you want to listen to Floor in a pure naked unlayered way please listen to this fantastic live acoustic recording. It is so skillful. Also awesome guitar playing by Troy.
The woman quoting the Shakespeare is Tuomas' wife, Johanna Kurkela. And for me, she had one of the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. You should check her singing, her voice is magically enchanting
Always enjoy your analysis. Your habit of going back to catch the transitions is very much appreciated. Also, you dive into the lyrics, time signatures, vocal qualities and harmonies, and always catch those instrumental details that so many others miss. Well done!
Amazing reaction from you as always 👍 A little fact. Floor told us in an interview that the last part - the recorded it several times before Tuomas were satisfied. Then they all went home - but Floor didn't have the right feeling at the end, she couldn't feel it deeply enough - so she listened and rehearsed further and then recorded it in her home studio - and nailed id. The feeling was there. She sent it to Tuomas, this is the ending you hear on the album. Floor is such a perfectionist and a voicenerd - and this is why this song goes right into our soul and heart. Floor had done her magic once again - you can actually feel her emotions in that ending. Incredible - but Floor in a nutshell - pure perfection, and the song has a soul. 🤘 🤘 🤘
I'm always impressed by how much detail a professional singer/musician can pull out of just hearing a song. Really great analysis and reaction as always! Loved the way you talk about the spoken word part, can't wait to see the reaction to Dead Boys Poem some day way down the timeline (I refuse to believe the Nightwish train can ever fully stop!)
I apologize in advance if my english is not perfect, not my mother language (I'm Italian), but I want to add something about the ashes being sent to the Moon. The thing is that Eugene spent a lot of his career studying the moon and its craters (to better understand the impact craters on earth), at the point that he wished one day he could go up there and study them on the spot. Then the possibility of taking astronauts to the moon became reasonable, and Shoemaker applied immediately to be an astronaut and be part of the program, but he was later declined due to his health conditions: he had addison's disease (which affects adrenal glands and some hormones production). Quoting him directly "Not going to the moon and banging on it with my own hammer has been the biggest disappointment in life". Listening to this song strikes me very hard, as I'm a Physicist with an extreme love for my subject, and I feel I can understand what he felt was taken away from him. He was a geologist, and all he wanted to do was to go up there and replicate the same movements and activities typical of his field of studies on the moon's surface. Knowing that he died without ever making it to the moon, one of his student, managed to put some of his ashes into a NASA probe which would "crash" into the moon (like a meteor that creates a crater, ironic detail), along with a photo of the Beringer crater (the one he was famous for) and the quote from Romeo and Juliet that is at the end of the song... ...making him the ONLY man buried on the Moon. Now, the quote "And when he shall die Take him and cut him out in little stars And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with the night And pay no worship to the garish sun" assume a new, beautiful meaning in my perspective

@@brentverb1295 I think it may have been a choir but if it were Troy and Marco in layers, imagine the three of them (Floor, Troy and Marco) singing the outro live. ; A;
Thank you, Elizabeth, for recognizing the work of Tuomas Holopainen as well as the other members of this amazing band of minstrels. Most people get carried away by the obviously exceptional talent of Floor Jansen, and often forget the work of the rest of the band. A wonderfully thorough and insightful job with this song, of course. Thank you. Peace, love and light from Downunder.
The second chorus was not a harpsichord. It was a dulcimer you were hearing. Just like is mentioned in the lyrics, "Stars calling with the sound of a dreamlike dulcimer". That last visual from the perspective of Eugene's crater and burial site on the moon, watching the Earth set and then the Sun set over the horizon of the Moon is epic. Loved your analysis and reaction to this very special "Ode to Eugene Shoemaker". See you soon lovely lady. Peace.
Hellfest 2022 Nightwish in 22:10 live ...Shoemaker, and Nightwish in Amsterdam Phantom of the opera with Henk Poort..... Please I love your reactions and I love Nightwish. Greetings from Finland 🙋♀️
I really enjoy your videos. Not just for the perspective and expert knowledge of application of technique, but also to know I'm not alone when I get so worked up and excited over things in music that other people don't often notice or don't care about. I think my favorite thing about music is the way you can FEEL how much love and care and craftsmanship went into a track like this.
Her opera voice reminds me of an opera singer called Elżbieta Towarnicka - she was singing in many soundtrack to Kieślowski's films composed by Preisner. Very delicate aproach to high notes with much less vibratto than normally in opera-style singing. It's absolutely amazing that Floor can do something like that too. And it sounds just great. This ending... Wow...
Great analysis; I absolutely loved it. I recently watched a video of her performing this song live and the control she has when singing the Latin section is just soooo amazing.
I love your Nightwish reactions. You always seem SO excited while giving one of the most in depth analysis I've seen. Your giggles, gasps and excitement always make me smile. A please to watch someone genuine who knows audio so well! :)
Thanks! Yes - that last part in particular is technically much more difficult than I think a lot of people would initially imagine. It was so fun to get nerdy and go into those details.
I love watching your eyes light up when you hear something amazing! Your reactions are always the best because they are always the most genuine and you clearly just appreciate good music 💕
Did you notice the end shot? View of the earth, sun going down, as if from the crater where Eugene has found his last resting place... homage indeed! Thanks Elizabeth for enjoying Shoemaker and pointing things out to us!
The last "Laudato Si" before the first "Ad Astra" - where she transitions from the light and sonorous tone, and slides down into a more powerful tone just gives me the absolute chills every time. Major goosebumps all the way up my spine to the base of my skull - not just my forearms or something. Absolutely incredible. Some kind of "the note" or harmonic that really hits me just right. I love a lot of her work, but this just nails me to the wall! :) Thanks for doing this one. Lots of fun!
You don't need one word to that reaction.....look at her face...that excitement...mirrors the epicness of the song perfectly...and shows her love to music!!
Hi, you looked so happy listening the song. Tuomas is a genious with his music and they are so lucky to have Floor with them, she really amazes with her voice and skills. The last section was so beautiful, got me chills. Really love the song. Thank you.
I have seldom seen such a detailed and wonderful reaction. It's not just "any song", the message behind it is incredibly big and not only expresses Shoemaker's love for the moon and the universe, but also his wife's love for her deceased husband. It's always fun to watch you. Thanks a lot for this!
Praised ared Thee among the Stars... would be a better translation. Refers to the achievements of Eugene Shoemaker (and others) about the impact of comets on the universe. Just look at Shoemaker-Levy 9 and its collision with Jupiter.
The body of work Floor represents at this stage is quite astonishing. I suspect that adoration for her will grow as the world slowly absorbs her impact. Like Freddie Mercury who is more popular now 30 years after his passing than in his own lifetime. Floor is that calibre.
Yes, she is. Freddie was her idol, also. Would love to have seen them sing together. That would have been a truly magical experience that you only get once in a lifetime.
yes, technics, talent, singing, writting, lot of work, etc, etc, ... but something else is here, a bigger thing: she speak to your soul. her tone and emotion navigate throught your hears to your heart. In France a singer said "I sing to save my soul". I believe it's the point here.
I loved this! I never knew about Nightwish before this channel. Loved the visuals, the voices, the instruments especially the plucked string one. Fridays are great! They introduce me to music i would have not thought I would like, especially metal. I like the complexity and the intensity combined with great beauty. Thank you!
I loved your reaction and analysis of "Shoemaker". You pointed out some stuff that I didn't even hear the first time and made me appreciate the song even more. Thanks and looking forward to the next reaction video.

Tuomas said after writing some of the songs for the Auri album he had inspiriation to write the music for Human to Nature the new Nightwish album..This song features Johanna and Troy singing..........AURI - Desert Flower (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO)

I love, love, love watching your reactions on your face as you listen to music! Your passion is infectious and inspiring and your commentary is educational. It changes the way I listen to music. Thank you!
I have to thank you for introducing me to symphonic metal. After watching your first video reacting to Nightwish I did a little research on them and discovered several sub-genres of metal that I had never even heard of. I'd consider my taste in music pretty broad as I just love music and never stick to one genre or another. I listen to pretty much everything except death metal and screamo type music, but for the last two weeks every time I jump in the car I'm throwing my Iheart radio app on to Nightwish which has introduced me to many other similar bands and I'm loving it. This is in part because my favorite type of music is that which tells a story and helps you feel the story through the sound of the music; that's probably why I listen to so many soundtrack albums. Anyway thanks again, and I'd love to see more from this genre.
Thank you Elizabeth for explaining this song, music and lyrics. I Never felt the need to listen to this song but now, thanks to you i did and it was a real eyeopener.

@@TheCharismaticVoice you are AWESOME !!!! thank you ! maybe Floor's performance of Vilja Lied from Beste Zangers 2019 would peak your interest as well ?
This is a really enjoyable reaction for me of an amazing performance. I think Tuomas intended to challenge himself in this composition because of his respect for Eugene Shoemaker. I'm guessing he took the development and production of this very personally; he seems to be that kind of person. I've watched every one of your reactions to this band and judge this to be your best effort. Love your analysis of the technicalities of the vocals as well as the instrumentation, but also enjoy your expressions, including facial, of surprise and pleasure in what you hear. Very well done. I've loved this song from my first listen, and now have even more appreciation for it and the band's talents. Thank you so much. Ron from the high desert of southeastern Arizona.
I'm loving your Nightwish journey! I particularly loved your reaction to Shoemaker! Fun fact: The spoken part before Floor's operatic prowess was done by Johanna Kurkela, the wife of Tuomas Holopainen.
Wow. You have demonstrated why your opinion is worth taking a bit more to heart. One of the reasons is you immediately were able to determine the time signature and immediately detected 3 voices in the chorus. Those go by so many reactors heads as to be shameful that such nice touches dont get acknowledged... this is why when you analyze a song, I listen. I appreciate your obvious hard work studying music. *I counted the verses as 4 measures of 6/8 then 2 measures of 4/4 :)
Oh man that was a great experience. Turns out I've never heard this song before, so it was really interesting to have a pro analyze it at the same time as I was trying to keep up with the song itself. I've listened to Nightwish since the -90s and I'm a space nerd, so not sure how I managed to miss this track, but either way: Thank You!
Dear Elizabeth, this whole album is really out of the box even for Nightwish, and it´s absolutely mindblowing. I just hope you will react to more songs from it.
@Chelley Fulljames What a blessing, then, that Nightwish tied together Eugene and his craters for the rest of us. A beautiful song for a beautiful reason. Enjoyed your comment. (And your English is wonderful, by the way)
Your song reviews have become my favorite channel on RUclips. You are obviously madly and deeply in love with music and everything involved with it. Your facial expressions while listening to a song are like watching a child open Christmas presents. I love to hear you talk about time changes and how they impact the songs. Your knowledge of music inspires me!!!
Your enthusiasm for the music is infectious, I love it. I would count the verses as one bar of 6/8 followed by one bar of 3/4 and two bars of 4/4 (which makes a total of 14 quarters like you said, but I think this makes the most sense with the way the rhythm is structured).
Thanks for this reaction! You are the only one emphasizing "that" moment when Floor's voice is expressed powerfully in the lower register towards the end, when you said "THAT!", now that is a masterful way of crafting the melody. Actually that's one of my favorite part of this otherwise perfect piece.
Thank you for commenting on the vocal gymnastics that Floor's doing. That agility can't be easy in any way shape or form. But that end .... That Laudato Si but, never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Another case in point that Floor does what the song needs, unlike all those pop divas - she never overdoes it, never oversells it. She goes big when she has the space to, and small when the song demands it.
I have got to say, your commentary on these songs really helps me appreciate it that much more. You help provide a great deal of depth to the music. I did not know who Nightwish was, nor did I care for metal but I can see there is a lot more than what we see (or hear) on the surface. Nightwish is an incredible band! Thank you.

Funfact: The Man who sings together with Floor in the Duett Section of the Song is the incredible Troy ... the Flute and Bagpipe Player of the Band. :)
It’s actually not the bagpipe it’s called the uilliean pipes. I believe it’s Gaelic and instead of feeding through the mouth it’s fed through the elbow which gives its name. Troy has talked about that in a few interviews. :)

The first time I heard that last classical part in Latin, I cried my eyeballs out. So gorgeous and respectful. It still gives me the tingles all over my skull every time I hear it. A beautiful ode to Eugene Shoemaker.
I am here for the way Elizabeth's face brightens and shines every time she listens to amazing singing.
The childlike innocence on Elizabeth's face when she tunes in is so, so beautiful to witness. It is that recognition that magic truly exists. Yes I love Elizabeth's reactions and am a new Nightwish/Floor fan. Truly magical 👍😊
So, then we have to keep you "Indoors" for sure!

Yours is an empty hope - live Wembley. You will never forget it, guaranteed.
"Different side" of Floor's vocal.
Elizabeth? =)
YES. THIS. 100%
Oh, yes! I usually ask people to listen to "Yours is an..." before "Shoemaker" but reversed is just fine.
Indeed, only, pay attention to who is "singing" what, lol.
Fuck yes!
I just started listening to this band and it blew my mind🤯🔥🔥
Hmmmph. ruclips.net/video/Od_qcbw3f5Q/видео.html
Enjoy!
Wow, Floor is getting better, how can we keep up, I’m already overwhelmed with tears and goosebumps 🤣, what an amazing voice and highly impressive music and song writing.
@JediNxf7 Gianni Schicchi is apparently the title of this opera...
@JediNxf7 With pleasure :)
@JediNxf7 I find the fact that Nightwish increase fluency in opera and musical theater, and maybe even science, just deeelicious!
I have two thoughts. Troy's vocals are such a great addition to the band, and Tuomas is beyond musical genius. Thank you for your insight into this song. Always a pleasure.
This gonna be stellar!

I cried like a baby when I first heard it. Then I went to read about Shoemaker and cried some more. This is a masterpiece! Thank you for the review
onion ninjas arrive almost every time I hear this
okay, maybe every time
Same here, I get an odd throat knot every time I read the lyrics, like in not being able to try and sing a single riff without my voice breaking.
It's just so beautifully written it blows me away.
And this is how you make Elizabeth very happy 😂❤
That makes so much sense. That section isn't easy, and having support from choral vocals would really help to find the perfect tone.
Thanks for that scientific explanation. Learned something more :-)

Floor's agility on How's The Heart live acoustic at Planet Rock is amazing! It's a must watch 😎
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Es una tremenda versión acústica.
Oh yes, this is a must - it's a really good video for voice-coach analysis too, since you can see and hear everything she's doing without the camera moving off her.

Oh yes, a lovely acoustic song. One take, nowhere to hide and I don't think everybody appreciates how difficult a song it is to sing.
I love her cover of "Nothing Else Matters" 🥰

Always enjoy your analysis. Your habit of going back to catch the transitions is very much appreciated. Also, you dive into the lyrics, time signatures, vocal qualities and harmonies, and always catch those instrumental details that so many others miss. Well done!
Thanks for also noticing the transition catch. I made that shift not too long ago, and also feel like it helps me to experience the music more fully.
Amazing reaction from you as always 👍
A little fact.
Anyone else here after watching the virtual concert? ... Goosebumps!
Now, the quote
"And when he shall die
Take him and cut him out in little stars
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with the night
And pay no worship to the garish sun"
assume a new, beautiful meaning in my perspective
Thank you for this addition!
great! thank you

I think my favorite thing about music is the way you can FEEL how much love and care and craftsmanship went into a track like this.
Thank you! This is such a sweet and insightful comment, and it made me smile extra big.
You must be in that 20% of the population, who is highly sensitive,
most artists and musicians are too, especially Tuomas and Floor.

I love your reactions to this band. Not just Floor but your overall training "shines" on this song especially.

Wow. You have demonstrated why your opinion is worth taking a bit more to heart. One of the reasons is you immediately were able to determine the time signature and immediately detected 3 voices in the chorus.
Your facial expressions and personality are amazing!
It is now established that we need a reaction to every song of the album, because each one is unique in its own way.
Yep..🤗
Thank you.

This whole album is insane, and parts of it seem to be made to push each of the musicians’ abilities and even the sensibilities of the listeners, in a way.
