Thanks for the review. Just got my FX2 in and after 1 playing session the word that kept coming into my mind was solid. It was solid all around the court and felt it had better power on serves and drives than from what I expected. It has, as you noted, good pop as well and felt great when dinking and doing drops. Spin really allows you to hit some aggressive roll volleys and dipping drives. Great addition to the Ronbus lineup. I came from the R1 Pulsar with added lead tape and played this stock with 2 overgrips and felt great.
I've got an R1 Pulsar and it's a great paddle. These look like good upgrades. Ronbus is a great company. I had some issues when buying my Pulsar and their customer service was top tier.
excellent breakdown. Upgrading from an R 1.16 to the R3 FX and excited to see the difference it makes. Was trying to decide between R1 and R3 shapes but it seems that the stats are so close and should not be too different.
Had fx1 for a month now after owning r1nova. Takes a while to break it in and finding weight adjustments. Power pop and spin much better than nova and personally find the bit firmer feel also an upgrade over nova. Nova at times could feel like 2 different paddles at times with the soft game too big of adjustment from power game. This paddle has much more consistency in touch going from hard to soft. Altering balance and swing weight by adding grip and weights at 430 and 730 greatly improved hand speed and maneuverability without damaging power aspects. A bit head heavy out of the box. Once dialed in is a great all court paddle. Felt added dwell time on resets of power shots and when hitting medium paced spin shots for placement (i.e. exactly when you want it.
amazing that they basically get a gen '2.5' without having to deal with the uncertainties of foam in the core. i almost bought the vatic oni today but it sold out- which i have a feeling was prob for the best. this might steal the market of higher power/pop with a plush face-soft game feel. i was seriously also considering the huarache x though, from the reviews, i get the feeling the face is stiffer than the ronbus fx.
after watching Pickleball Studio video on Vatic Oni, it probably won't be legal for long with all the foam they use in the core plus Chris really ripped into it
Love your videos. Keep up the great content. I have a Joola Scorpios Colin John gen 2 and experiencing some core crushing at the top. I was considering the Volair Forza Mach 2 but leaning a bit now on the Ronbus Pulsar FX R2. Can you tell me your thoughts on the two. Thanks
Would you do me a favor and send me a video of you pressing your thumbs into the paddle to get the crunching noise? Send to johnkewpickleball@gmail.com My Collin broke, too. I'm going to talk about it on the pod today and want to add some other stories. But the Volair M2F and Pulsar FX.R2 are both solid choices. The M2F will have more control/wider sweet spot, and the FX.R2 will have more offensive options with its higher power/pop
Good video, thank you for your hard work. I have a Hudef viva pro gen 3, which is also a elongated paddle with excellent power and spin, can you make a video of the comparison?
currently got an R3, which I love but I am looking for an upgrade. I play a lot of singles, but also do a fair amount of doubles, I do not want to compromise in power, but I also think the current R3 I have is not the best for dinking. What do you think in terms of Pulsar FX R3, R1, or NOVA are worth getting? I was thinking going with pulsar FX R3, but would love to hear your thoughts
Hi i am about to buy a new paddle , unfortunately i am in canada and options are limited , i know i need a wide body , low swing weight paddle which can do 2 hands , i am confused between this and volair mach 2 forza 14 and 16?
Aww man I’m torn between these paddles. I love my R1 pulsar but I just wish it got more spin. These FX paddles get more spin but add way too much pop and power for my liking. 88th percentile is high as heck.
That is interesting. I even hit with them side-by-side with the FX in my right hand and the pulsar and nova in my left hand to compare because I was so curious why I wasn’t getting a more plush feel with the FX. And it still felt slightly stiffer.
@@johnkewpickleball in my case, I have the R3 Beta. I wasn’t sure how I was going to like a paddle that was being described as having more dwell time and being softer, as I like to feel things. I could almost immediately tell this was different than the OG and plush is how I would describe it, but I really like it. I actually think it’s even taken some strain off my ailing elbow.
5:09 - I dropped the wrong paddle in this montage - it's the R3, but should be the square-shaped R2. Same for 5:42

Can second this. I had a nova which I used for about 6 months until the grit wore out. Absolutely wonderful paddle.
The R2 deserves its on dedicated review. It has good numbers for a widebody.

Thanks John for taking this paddle apart. I was curious what the vergbage meant. I'm holding out for what comes next in core tech.
Love the comparisons. Great work as always.

The only issue is SW is a bit high. 119 for a hybrid. The face is on the stiff side.
I ordered with your code before the video was even finished 🎉
Godamn it!!! Just bought the Nova.
lol
I almost bought another OG Pulsar before I found out this was coming, and was lucky to grab a beta.
I bought another R1 Nova and R2 FX Pulsar. The R1 Nova is still (for now) my playing paddle.
Thanks for the review.
thanks, I ordered one
Maybe this "cloth" material is fiberglass?

i second this! :)
Im thinking without the cloth layer the “grid” would act less like a string bed and more like a reinforced carbon fiber layup.
Is the middle layer on the face fiberglass? I’m sorry to be a ref during your Ronbus trial but I think you had a fault on minute 8:53 right foot 😅.
Real interested in the new Babalot paddles
They need a nova with kevlar power weave like J2K Pro
Are you going to review the Paddletek Bantam TKO paddles? I'm surprised you don't have any Paddletek paddles in your database.
FX2 compared to dbd 16?
They need to compare the nova to this i am still trying to figure out what paddle to buy….i have a vatic prism v7
Which one do you prefer between the R2 and the Volair Mach 2 and why?
If you want more control and a bigger sweet spot, the M2F is the one. If you want more pop and defensive options then go for the R2.

I'm starting to appreciate better spin over power.
have an fx r1 and there's definitely a break in period
Liked!
Do you have the Standout KC1 in the lineup?
Not yet, they haven't sent me one yet
Interesting, , to me, it feels more plush. 🤔
Same here. To me, the FX feels more like the Nova than the og Pulsar
Definitely more plush

@@backbonzHmm, I wonder if the production models I got are stiffer than what you have?
You took down my comment on the R2 regarding the real size of the paddle. is not 16x8 more like 15 1/2 by 7.5 w
That logo ain't it
