Big Sur Detour - Salinas Valley to Pismo Beach

In this video I ride my Touring Bicycle south from Marina California down the Salinas Valley. Then I travel from Paso Robles out to the Coast and on toward Pismo Beach. This is part of a detour on the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route that by passes the Highway 1 closures in the Big Sur area, though I took a slightly different route than the ACA detour. (see link) The initial Salinas Valley section had some pretty views but then it got hot, dusty, bumpy and overall uninspiring. Hence, no footage from King CIty to Paso.

We threw road work 12am in morning that all the workers went home it was about 2 miles long 😂🎉vut we mde it

if you want to ride thru the closure a limekiln, just do it after 6pm or on sunday. nice quiet roads either side of it. no worries

Thanks for commenting Kevin. So sorry I did not get any footage of King City to Paso. I was having a tough day and at the time didn't feel inspired at all. It was a lot of exposed agricultural land, bumpy broken asphalt, and riding a very rough shoulder of 101. The ACA detour route is quite a bit longer and has much more climbing. In hindsite, I should have sucked it up and turned on the GoPro. 🤔
