Now, this is proper scary!

thank you for sharing!! I'm sitting here drinking my cup of coffee, in Idaho, happy to see ol slug back at it ❤
that certainly is a scary threat

I like the montages and drone shots, gives a proper appreciation of the land as well as the work you do.
Yes and the music is a vibe
@@Bluebunny06 Plus the slug moistening interludes and their restful piano lines.
@@MonkeyJedi99 Of course how could i forget😁
Agreed!
yeah I dig the footage too well done for the views
Drone footage is fun, breaks up the flow nicely and could act as a nice section break alongside moistenings (which are hilarious every time and doubly so with sheep feet instead of dogs).
On a slightly random note I think you might find it amusing that the whole "machine is broke, bust out the screwdrivers and check all the way up the line until you find the problem" routine is pretty much exactly what I did at work today (including sitting on the ground while doing so and swearing at random metal parts). I'm a design engineer for hyper-specialized atomic physics testing equipment. Absolutely love that the troubleshooting process is identical no matter if you're trying to give beans to sheep or make photons come out the photon hole. (For the record mine also ended up being an unplugged wire - some goofus with a PhD forgot to tighten a connector.)
I'll add amateur engineer to the resume, somewhere near midwife and mechanic 😂
The similarity in trouble shooting is absolutely hilarious. :D I really laughed about the image of a synchronized swearing of Tara and an Engineer but they are both working in their own piece of equipment.
Tank you very much for that mental image @basser and I hope you have a good rest of the week. :3
Well I’m not making photons come out the photon hole ( that just sounds wrong 🤣) or beaning (🤭) the sheep but I can tell you it’s the same with tracing the wiring in cars…a bloody nightmare & a test of patience with lots of sweary words 🤬✌🏼
I used to be a lab tech in an estuarine ecology lab and our equipment were so old that they aren't in production anymore. I'd troubleshoot the exact same way until I learned the typical problem spots so I'd go to the most likely to be a problem and work my way down to "ok, wtf and where the f is the problem?!"
I did both a cord and code version of “trace it until you find the problem” today. Both also involved floors and swearing, but sadly Inam the doofus was screwed up both times. 😂
Tara, i really appreciate how seriously you take sun protection. I've seen how nasty sun damage can be
So do I. I grew up in Victoria and have spent most of my adult years in Queensland, and like Tara I'm a pasty white girl. However, growing up in the 70s there wasn't as much emphasis on sun protection...quite the opposite in fact. The "Slop, slop, slap" campaigns started when I was a teen, which helped. But I'm paying for the lack of early sun protection now. I've had several small skin cancers removed already. So I really appreciate Tara highlighting her sun protection routine, especially that glorious hat.
@@kristinretallack8238 Yep kids Tara's and my sons age seem to have it down pat. Just from going to school (the old No hat No play) did the trick but in all their wisdom they forgot that sunlight on bare skin is what makes vit D. I'm told the lack there of can cause all sorts of issues for the human body... I guess it's a trade off of sorts. Low vit D or Melanoma and being a true pasty paste, myself I can take my vit D each morning and keep outa the sun. I have lived in the southern states all my life and don't love the heat or sun, so have not had any run ins with Melenoma, YET.
I've learnt to be careful with sun protection from my Mum. She's a red head and pale like me. We always has no hat no play but many teachers didn't model by example at my school.
Most people get their daily requirements of vitamin D just going about their lives without needing to seek it out.
I had an aunt who got skin cancer but wore sunscreen regularly. Idk but made me think it wasnt all that good. Lesser of two evils maybe.
@ThatAnimalChannel Sun protection is important, just like seatbelts I guess. Neither are 100% effective, but its all about lowering the risk as much as you can. You have a much higher risk of getting skin cancer if you don't use sun protection, just like you are more likely to be seriously injured without a seat belt. But yea, you can do everything right, eat well, be safe ect and still get it. Cancer sucks.
I love the drone footage, especially when it shows slug herding the sheep. I'd love if you did a video with mostly drone footage, showing slug herding the sheep and you explaining in detail what you're instructing her to do and why, and including commands you use for her. I know you've already done a video demonstrating her commands, I'd just love to see it again and from a birdseye view 😊
That's a really good idea thank you!
I agree that would be awesome
I love your videos, it's so refreshing how real you are. I'm 64 (I'll be 65 this March) and live in Chicago, Illinois USA. The level of bullshit is thick here; it's like trying to move through a tar pit or something. Watching you work is like taking a clean shower under Crystal clear light water. Stupid analogy, but it's the best I could do 😂. Anyway, thanks for all you do and sharing this part of your life with us. Best of luck to you for your whole life long, dear!😊
I spin raw sheep fleece. I soak it in cold waterboarding and use the dirty water as a fertiliser. I also use the waste bits from.skirting as mulch. It protects seedlings pretty well from slugs (the bad kind kind not the dog kind lol).
The lanolin when spinning is wonderful for hands too. Best treatment for cold/wet weather chapping I've ever used - and soaks in with the massaging effect from the spinng action.
That's good to know about the Slugs, I'll have to see if it works! I know it doesn't prevent Slug from the wool while she sleeps in it 😂
I remember seeing a blue tongued Lizard in one of Tara's videos. They love slugs (Squirmy ones) but the sentiment is not reciprocated.
The longer montages are cool, but honestly my favorite moments are when you swear at inoperable equipment. But I get the sense that such events are an unwelcome part of your day, so I won’t ask for more of those. 😂
"Typo it's mom's turn to whinge" lmao
Love the Kath and Kim reference haha
Love that you cater to the introverted sheep
9:56 "why are you so rude to me"
I died😂
I was having buttered popcorn as a midnight snack so I ended up watching this vlog like a movie at the cinema
10/10 Oscar worthy, especially that drone work
Excellent, great choice of a snack, very American.
@@TaraFarms What can I say, we love our corn- though there's something beautifully ironic in that I had to use butter all the way from New Zealand cause American butter is so shit to make it actually good
@codyfrisch4378 That's the one. its cheaper than kerrygold and bout as good, shame it doesn't come in unsalted for baking.
@codyfrisch4378 oh I know all that already, and I use salted butter when its smaller amounts, mostly its for frosting where I want the smooth rich european style unsalted butter cause a good sized batch of meringue buttercream can use a whole ass pound or more of butter, and the salted vs unsalted does very much make a difference when the end product is mostly butter by volume. Also a lot of the times I'm lazy and don't wanna try remembering to leave out some of the salt lmao. A lot of the preference for unsalted butter in baking comes from the idea of wanting to be precise with your ingredients to get a consistent result every time- which is good for pros, but not necessary for your average home cook.
My favorite part of your RUclips channel is the "smack talking & the cursing." I freaking looooooove it!!! 😂
Good to know! 😂
I like the long montages, it lets us see how big your work actually is! From inside the trucks and down on the ground you don't get to take in how large your farm is and how well you treat your sheep.
My dairy farmer uncle in NZ did his silage in a pit, covered with plastic and tires to stop the plastic blowing away. His silage was a darker colour than those bales and looked more moist. The smell would clear your sinuses...I didn't hate it
That's very interesting did he feed it out in a feed cart like ours or was it a different one?
He dug it out of the pit with the tractor forks and just put it in a low side trailer. Used the forks to drag it off once in the paddock, the cows LOVED it. This was in the late 1980s, he had around 120 dairy cows and apart from occasional family help did all the work himself @@TaraFarms
I like the montages and the "moistening breaks"! I like that your land reminds me of the Northern California foothills, too.
Also... I enjoy when you place talking boxes above Slug.
So growing up in the late 70’s to mid 80’s my father had silage pits in several areas of the farm. These were dug out on the side of a hill and filled with corn silage or sorghum silage during the summer harvest. We had tarps that we covered those pits for it to ferment until we needed it. Aside from having to buy new tarps every few years, we didn’t use any plastics. And silage has an incredible smell to it after it’s fermented!!! I’ve actually picked out small pieces of sorghum and chewed it. It’s basically sugar cane so it’s high in calories and carbs to keep the cows and horses warm in the winter. Our horses knew where the pits were and would try their best to walk us over to get treats. Good times! ❤
Anti leather boot juice now lives rent-free in my vocabulary 😂
Gotta paint a ✨picture ✨!
Yay a new adventure on the farm :-) It is 10:05 PM Tuesday night Here in Beaverton Oregon. Always Look forward to the new farm.
no way! I live there as well. Wonderful how the internet brings people together from near and far. Hope you have a great night.
Wow its 1:23am in fredericksburg Virginia. Crazy we're in the same country!
@@kricket8801 Talk about coincidences! I'm an Australian in the northern hemisphere, on the other side of the planet to you.
Midnight in the Midwest U.S. and a Tara vlog comes thru. Thought I was lights out. NO WAY!! Gotta see what she's put together. Didn't disappoint, as always. Love montages, short or long.
Damn. Same here in Colorado USA. But I wouldn’t miss it and wouldn’t want to wait until morning.
Always seems to be the middle of the night over there 😂
I like the long drone shots very much. The music is soothing. The scenery is gorgeousness. The flocks of sheep are peaceful.
I love the moistening intermission and the music with it made me smile.
Love the drone shots. The land is so beautiful and there's something super satisfying about watching the sheep. They will even get better over time too.
Not boring g at all, love the rolling hills. It also gives a better understanding of just how much the two of you do. Thank you
Drone footage is so cool. Great vlog. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, wasn't sure it the 2 segments were too many!
@@TaraFarms I really enjoy seeing the scale and landscape, and the "mobs" from up high. Beautiful scenery too.
Good morning! It’s 1am for me and I don’t care. I’m definitely watching this. This comes before sleep cuz too interesting to not watch😅
Can always watch it tomorrow! 😂
@@TaraFarmsI have insomnia anyways. I just assist it in ruining my day tomorrow with my curiosity😂
Thanks for sharing. So glad slug is doing well. ❤
I really want to redesign the trailer wiring harness to make it bulletproof.
We need “moistening” merch! Love slug and the drone pics. 😍
Love the long montages, they give a good perspective as to property, size, etc. You have a great balance between those and the non-drone shots.
also, I note the Deutz Fahr is still in desperate need of a bath! 😜
Excellent thank you! And nah nah his air conditioner isn't working. He gets a bath when he works out his problems 😂
Be cool to see a closeup on the rams if that's possible. 😃 I like the drone shots & montages. It's so neat to see farm life. The fact it's in Australia makes it even better. I'm from Vancouver B.C 🇨🇦, we have "farm life" but no farmer as cool as you Tara or a sidekick quite like Slugg. 😉
I did a video, I think it's called 'Ewes gone wild' where I show the Dorsets up close in the trailer while I'm putting them out. The merino rams in this aren't ours they keep coming through the fence.
Yay another Tara video
I really enjoy the drone footage. It gives such a great feeling of the movement of the sheep and the lay of the land. You do a great job of on the fly repair and make equipment work.
I just did the old turn it off, hope like hell it still works, turn it on 😂
Your cheerful “good morning” is always welcome.
Love both the drone shots and the nitty gritty hands on. Love all your work.
Your drive skills are awesome
The drone part is really cool, we can see the beautiful landscape and the sheeps at their mobs walking around
This was very interesting feel like I just went on a field trip at school! Those of us who are not farmers do not realize all the hard work that farmers do for their and their animals survival. Good job!!!
Love the montages. Really shows the gums and the dead trees. I love that about Australia- the way the gums grow and the colours.
Also, do the sheep always play follow the leader? The new drone is so amazing again the colours are amazing. I understand that this summer has had a lot of rain and made the colours of Victoria shine!!! Also very bloody hot in between those lovely rains!
I look forward to my Wednesday viewing so much! Teacher here and hump day Slug is just the medicine I need.
Wha'ts with Hank watching Slug do all the work????
You might have to start selling dag wool mulch- you really did a good sell on the benefits of carbon and nitrogen release.
The montages are great! The moistening intermissions are also great
I love the drone footage and the long montage! I also understand you have a job to do and may not be able to do it all the time. Have a Great Day! 🐑
It's more the battery of the drone only lasts for 40 minutes and I can't use it in the sheds so it can limit it's use for some of the videos.
Hi Tara, some great content as usual explaining the jobs you do on a big sheep farm in Victoria Australia. I think your overseas subscribers now understand how you and typo look after thoudsands of sheep. Can you talk to Liam to do something with that tree at the gateway. You dont want it falling on you in a storm. While he is at it, he could grease the leg on feed trailer and have a look at the motor on the auger. You will use the grain trailer a lot in coming weeks. Chris from Bendigo Victoria.
Hey Chris!
The tree is ok, it's works well when you're trying to get sheep into the paddock because of the gateway. It's just getting the tractor in that can be a pain, there are double gates at the end of the paddock but you have to go through 2 lots of gates to get to them and I'm lazy lol.
Would like the motor fixed and the leg greased though 😂 And it's looking like we will be, it's starting to dry up again now!
The drone shots are breathtaking! I never knew how beautiful Queensland was before your channel. More please.
Tara lives and works in Victoria, not Queensland.
@@CricketsBay Thank you! I did not know.
Montages are great, and so is the content. Music too. Well done.
Love the long montages, totally not boring, more relaxing really 😊🙂
Such a great video again Tara❤ your videos are so educational and so good for people to learn about our work and all about agriculture
Thanks for another great video. The narration is very informative and as for the montages well they are enjoyable to watch.
Another great and perfect video ! You always ask about things being boring, they are not. You do a great job of mixing things up, drone, slug shots, all the different things you do. It's obvious since you hit 100k few months ago, now closing in pn 200k, 🎉.
Eastern USA here, again, love your attitude and honesty
Thank you! I appreciate that!
A big yes to the montages. I can't get out often, and all that blue sky and rolling hills make me feel better.
You had auger footage with no foot-age? 😊
And a big yes for wool. Helped a friend with their property during the Alpine fires about 20 years ago, and other than proper CFA gear (which we weren't), wool is a great thing to wear. Helps stop the radiant heat, and it won't burn (easily).
Last, a moist Slug is a happy Slug 😊
I love seeing the fly over with the drone. Ur land is so beautiful. I love the videos u post and what u share on farming so full of info
Thank you for that feedback :)
Hi Tara, as some other commenters already said, I like the long cut footage of the sheep and yes the moistening intermissions of both, you, Typo and the sheep feet. :D Thank you very much for another farm vlog and I also really like the short explanation of why wool is a good mulch. If you have some wool over and you can’t process it into yarn you could also try to sell it as mulch to fans maybe. Just a funny thought. I wish you and Typo a very good rest of the week and see you in the next video. :D
I don't know how Aus post would feel about me shipping around poop wool in a box but it's an idea that could lead to another! Thank you :)
sure, very welcome for that kernel of brainpower. XD@@TaraFarms
Tara - I really like the montages a lot. It’s nice to get a broader visual image of your farming operation as well as the up close and personal pieces. Please do continue including them. Thanks!
I love the idea of a shy sheep not making eye contact and blushing when the other sheep go baaa at it.
Over here we just call it hay or silage dependant on which it is. I did some summer holidays and Easter holidays work on a local livestock farm. The cows had been inside all winter due to it being cold even for the UK (freezing fog etc). It was about -20C where we were. -27C in parts of Scotland. Well the farmer put 4 bales of silage out. That's when the rucus started. I was told to keep well out of the way when the gates to the cow shed were opened. It was a stampede. That was also their first day out of the shed for months. After eating they were just running round the field mad as Norris.
I love the montages, it's excellent to get the different POV's. Perfect music to watch by, I find it relaxing and mesmerising as well as fascinating. :D Give Typo and doggo friends a scratch behind their ears for me please.
My mum grew up on a sheep farm up near Kotupna, one of my cousins, took it over after Grandpa and Uncle died, she is still farming there I believe. Thank you for these insights into your life, I've got my daughter and granddaughters interested too. Thank you very much Tara, big hugs.
Great vlog as usual tara slug did a fantastic job as usual keep up the good work
12:22 , that seems to describe your day.

Great drone footage, second dog should have a name ❤
Thank you so much for all of this one! Honestly any way you put these together i will be here watching! I appreciate you! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!!
I've often thought that you probably have to put up with some nasty smells on a farm! Glad to know that the silage actually smells nice to you.

I just love the montages! We really do live in the most beautiful country in the world
I really enjoy the drone shots and the montages, with the music. Peaceful, and it provides a look at your world and how it is put together. A few long shots from high altitude would be nice to add. Thank you for sharing, Tara.
Love the news shots!
The properties look terrific. The spot or two or rain has helped.
Putting on the garden is a terrific idea as I chuck mine in the bin will put on the garden next year.
I really love the drone footage as you move the herds because I can really see the dogs work.
Love the montage/drone shots. A great perspective! Thank you Tara!
Love the drone view and the music- I find it relaxing
I like the montages and drone shots! it gives additional context/big view of scenery. love it with your paired commentary
Love everything you do.
More more.
I worked with sheep over 50 years ago and tending sheep today is a whole new world to what I knew.
We basically moved the sheep to the best feed and crutched the fly blown.
And then there was shearing.
The dogs haven't changed though because the lead dog we used would disappear off to a dam for a moisten whenever we wanted him to cut out rams.
He'd had a bad run in with one that he hadn't got over.
They were Kelpies and they specialised at running over the sheep's backs doing yard work.
Pretty to watch and effective.
One of your best videos. Love the variety, relaxing drone shots and the technical stuff.
I've never tried using wool as mulch before so I definitely plan to try it in my garden this year - especially because we're looking at a drought year. Thanks!
I like the montages, gives a great perspective of the land and sheep movement. Great vid 👌
The montages are very beautiful.
re: biodegradable silage wrap, there are a couple options, biowrap (NZ) and biogone - they are eye wateringly expensive (!!!) but there are new products in development at companies in UK and Spain, eventually this will hopefully make prices more competitive.
your timing is perfect. Enjoy all aspects of your videos.
Such a great job, Tara! So pleased the YT algorithm finally sent something great my way. I love when you explain farming and sheep husbandry, and when you identify the different crops as well as Australian flora. I'm learning all kinds of things and laughing in-between. 👋 from Washington state, USA
I really enjoy the drone footage. It highlights the landscape and the amount of land you are working with. Beautiful .When you used it in yard next to the barn few videos back it made it easier to understand what you were doing. Typos facial expressions kill me 😂
I'm throwing in another comment to feed the algorithm and appease the Slug now that I actually, y'know, finished the video-
The drone work is absolutely beautiful, definitely keep them, they're a great way to outro the vid
Also your part of Australia looks so fucking exactly like my part of California that I got goddamn whiplash- same rolling hills, same grass, same sparse forest here and there, even the eucalyptus trees cause some numpty thought it'd be good to bring the tree that loves to burn to God's own tinderbox and now its Everywhere here, and some of those bigger trees scattered about look exactly like our native valley oaks. Slap some mountains in the very far distance and bam, thats the north valley region of California. Absolutely wild how two places a whole ass ocean apart can look the exact goddamn same.
The drone footage is wicked beautiful. It’s stunning.
those drone shots were awesome
more of that

Hey Tara. I’m not sure if you’ll see this but I’m also in country Vic. I’ve just recently found your stuff and saw you mention about the cattle herding on horseback in another video. I reckon I might be able organise something for you if you’re interested.

@@TaraFarms too easy and done 😊
Couldn't the wool be used as insulation? I think that it was years. Seems like it would be useful that way. Love your videos and giggle at your language. {I'm a 74 year old American, doesn't take much to make me giggle.}
It would stink, because it's full of piss and shit it takes a lot to clean. That's good to know! 😂
Wool itself makes good insulation BUT the effort to clean daggy/waste wool isn't worth it. You can buy wool batts (some treated against insect/moth infestion) but finding a supplier can be difficult, depending where you like. Many wool batts are made from fiber that 'isn't up to scratch' for clothes, but are good for other uses. Lesser quality is also used in making seed mats for gardeners, where they both nurture the veges and act as a weed mat while they grow.
Thanks for the info. @@TaraFarms
My idea was not good but it is good to know that the wool does have good uses, Thank you.@@bookwyrms.2658
