Like or Typo will put a grass seed in your sock
I've had a grass seed in my sock already, Typo, so I guess I have to like it, for fuck's sake.
❤❤❤❤ my heart is in my throat, right now. I'm glad she's ok, tho.
Why is your German shepherd not tagging along when you use typo? The shepherd is inferior in heat, but it would learn the task in a couple days. And be meaningful backup if typo gets hurt.
@TaraFarms why do you call your dog Slug? I'm really glad she was ok after the surgery bless her. It's no fun having an operation. God bless you a d your family Tara, I really enjoy learning about your life and work. Have a great week.
Ok, this is doing my head in. How come sometimes you call her Typo? And other times you call her Slug? What's the John Dory?
It's hilarious that Tara thinks us mere mortals can pick out the sheep she's talking about without her sheepvision. It would be awesome if in editing she pointed it out to us. Lol
Hugs and kisses to Typo. It's scary when our furbabies are sick or in pain. Glad she made it out and is recovering.
Noted, I’ll try and add arrows they can be hard to edit in but I’ll try 😂
And thank you, Typo’s recovering well and should be back at work next week.
@@TaraFarms Bee keeping videos usually pull a still and identify the queen. Once you point out the sheep, we should be able to follow it.
Grass seeds are totally underestimated! One pesky little seed can travel through the dog's body and end up in a lung or the heart. Very scary!!! A friend of mine has just spent well over $10,000 in a search for a seed. It travelled from her oesophagus to a lung and was heading for her heart. The lung was damged and had to be partially removed. Do not underestimate these evil things!!!!!!
Absolutely is, that's why I wanted to get onto it as quickly as I could because of where it was in the neck! I went with a CT so it would be easier to locate but the surgeon said it was still hard to find and they were in the OR for around 90 minutes searching for it.
Does this happen from the inside out or outside in? Is it the grass seed moving or the body moving the seed?
@@SageandStoneHomestead the seeds have hairs on them that force them to move in one direction only, but it's the movement of the body that drives them deeper.
@@ickipoo does the dog swallow it or does it come in through the skin?
@@SageandStoneHomesteadenters the mouth, then just continues to work inward. In my area, bird hunting dogs are lost every year to it. You often dont know its happening until its too late.
So glad Typo survived the surgery and is at home recovering. 🙏🙌❤️🇨🇦
Thank you!
Go Slug ❤ love the "Fuck off maggots" drawing. Love your channel, ya can't beat an Aussie farm girl.
Thank you, it's quality art!
It's so hard when your working dog gets sick because not only are you just as worried and concerned about them as you would be with your pet dog, but you also don't have your partner at work with you. Wishing Typo a speedy recovery!
"My little escargot" 🤣. So glad she's home and well. You sound so relieved and rightly so
I had never heard of how grass seed can hurt animals. From your video, the comment section, and looking it up, I learned a lot today. I will now be prepared if it happens to my pets.
I was also surprised to see how common it was!
I am so glad Typo is doing better. On a less serious note, your drawing really made my day, lol
I thought it was quite accurate! 😂
Her drawings really are the best, aren't they? 😂
I'm so over this humidity - the paddock feels like a sauna - and that's after the thunderstorm. Pats to Typo - hope the healing is going well.
Very much so, it's just hot and sticky everyday! We should be getting a hot run over the next few days and next week so we should be able to finish harvest hopefully if the rain stays away. And thank you, she's recovering well.
Between your shearing tips and watching Girl With dogs grooming videos I am now totally confident to shear my husbands head!
Shave I mean!
I'm not liable! But make sure you pull that skin TIGHT! 😂
Great news that your co-pilot is on the mend... love your honest view on what you do....
Thank you :)
Tha amount of people who don't understand sheep will die, and the baby will die, if the baby isn't pulled out is shocking. Sheep are one animal known to have birth issues, and farmers have always had to help them. Honestly it surprises me more when I sheep doesn't need help birthing lol
In addition to that, experienced shepards don't just yank the damn things out willy nilly. They wait for a good contraction to pull and pull at specific angles to reduce the risk of prolapse and whatnot. Like, it looks violent, but it's definitely not. I think that person basically heard about prolapse and made a ton of extremely ignorant assumptions, lol. If you're literally pulling "insides" out when helping a lamb out, then you've got bigger problems with the ewe than birthing stuff. 😂
Love the artist rendering of the lamb at the end there, im crying from how much im laughing
I'm an artist! 🎨
My golden retriever x poodle finds great joy in running around the backyard right before I’m about to go to sleep and returning to the house looking like a chocolate chip tiny teddy, the chocolate chips being grass seeds. Recently he figured out how to get them in my carpet, and some how in my hotel room 5 hours away
Need to bubble wrap them up 😂
So glad to see that Typos doing okay!
Thank you she's recovering well, and should be back next week!
Glad little lass is okay, thanks for the great day in the life video. ❤
Glad you enjoyed the video, she's recovering well!
I love how gentle you are when crutching and shearing! Some may think I'm being sarcastic but it's very sincere because if people saw how some ranchers do it, they would be angry and freaked out. You don't slam them down hard and pin them with unnecessary force and pressure like others. You do what has to be done but you aren't slamming, forcing and hurting them. They're just like, "whatever" while you're are giving them good care. Yay! Thanks for sharing! 😉 I can't wait to see Typo back in action! I'm glad you didn't settle and you went to Melbourne!!! Thanks also go to the Melbourne vets!
Happy to hear your buddy is fine now! ❤
Thank you :)
Real deal young lady Mum and Dad did a great job raising you.🇦🇺 pride
Surgery for a grass seed, 4 freaking hours to find it. Pet owning is so stressful at times, innit? Glad to hear she is doing good after it all!
Ex-farm girl from the drier parts of NSW. Watching your videos is such a nostalgia trip and kind of shows me a window into a different life I could have had. Thanks for having your channel. I'm glad I found it.
Omg Typo too?! I just took my Kelpie to the vet yesterday to get a suspected grass seed out of her leg. It ended up being a 2cm deep hole 😱 and we didn't end up finding the grass seed. She's on the mend now with a hole in her leg draining puss, yay! Good times. Hope Typo recovers quickly and she's back in the bush basher beside you in no time 😊❤
Manuka works wonders!
My dog tore out stitches from a bite wound and we ended up with a gaping hole as well. Took 6 weeks to fully heal but even his fur grew back.
But I suppose your fella is still stitched up. Hopefully no future trouble because of it! 🤞
I'm sorry to hear about your dog! Must be that time of year, hope your dog recovers quickly too!
@neva.2764
Delta has a wound similar from her lump a few weeks ago, do you just put the honey on?
@TaraFarms
With Manuka honey, if it's an open wound, the vets tend to soak medical guaze in Manuka honey, pack the wound with it, and then bandage it up. I'd definitely talk to your vet about it, as different wounds have different numbers of rounds to pack per day. For smaller open wounds, ive usually seen the soaked gauze replaced two or three times a day, on average (im not a medical professional, though).
If you don't want to go through all of that but still want to give it a go, you could try drenching a strip of guaze in it and wrap it on and around the wound, then wrap a clean, dry bandage around it. That way it's not actually deep in the wound but should still help. That's what I've always heard when researching it's uses for open wounds in the vet field, anyway.
Poor Typo! I'm glad you caught it and she's ok. My chow chow mix had one in her leg and it ended up being a huge open wound and i was shocked! Had to have 3 of those damn things removed from her leg. They're evil bastards!!
Wow! This is the first time I've encountered it with my dogs, we pull them out of sheep's eyes a lot and out of their mouths.
Thank you for making my Wednesdays afternoons wish typo a speedy recovery and another fantastic vlog as usual
Thank you Pauly, always appreciate your watch and comment. And thank you she's already improved a lot and should be back at work next Thursday.
My insanicat had a lump in her neck. Turned out it was the big C. Glad the Slug got in and out and it wasn't something less survivable!
I'm very sorry to hear that. Yes it came up quickly so I wasn't in full panic mode when I found it.
@@TaraFarms I would hope that this Vlog puts rest to people's comments about your working dogs. Personally I think they're doing fine. Question though: How much do the sheep react to your drone?
I'm so glad Typo is recovering and can't wait to see it chasing the critters and getting moist.
I’m glad typos doing ok! The weather has been shit down here lately. It’s rainy one day and 30 and sunny the next day.
I watch 3 farmers videos weekly, Tom Pemberton dairy farmer UK, a Wagyu beef guy from Japan, and yourself.Totally different people and farms but you all share one thing, the animals in your care come first, every single time. I think we could tell that you were sweating on news from Slug when she was being treated. Hope she mends fast and is back in the dam a.s.a.p. I noticed that her canine mates seemed glad to have her back.
I’ve seen some of Tom Pemberton’s videos but I’ll have to look up the Japan Wagyu guy! Thank you ☺️
I'll have to look them up. I follow several farming channels and people that raise sheep, goats, ducks, chickens, etc. I love it. I wish I had money to start a small sustainable farm. This is definitely a fun channel I'll be keeping up with. I swear more than she does. 😂
So sorry to hear this news so we’re working wishing you and Typo all the best. We thoroughly enjoy your videos and, in particular, the interaction between you and Typo.
She's recovering well and should be back to her self at work next week!
Thanks for the updates, my boys were very concerned for Slug. We have out own dog and have told them many times to be careful of grass seeds. So Slug was a good example of why we are so careful
Glad it’s a teaching lesson for your kids. Grass seeds are quite dangerous if they get into the body!
praying she is going to be ok! Saying a prayer for her for her fast recovery!
She's doing well and recovering quickly thank you 😊
Glad the slug is okay and the seed is out.
I’m exhausted just watching. Get well soon Typo, you’re needed
19:03 amazing lmao. Also glad to know Typo's doing much better now!
Such an excellent detailed explanation of the progress and treatment of fly-strike.
I know you're really tough and that, but big hug from me to Typo for a fast and full recovery.
Thank you, she’s recovering well and should be back at work next week!
So glad Typo is going to be ok.
Poor Slug looks so sad. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Hugs to Typo and enjoy the warm weather , here in the USA Illinois, we have snow storms and my kids are going on day 2 of no School.
There've been hard freezes overnight, & 30-58° weather here in, Phoenix Arizona, the past week-ish. I gotta scrape ice from my windshield & all 4 tire sensors alert low pressure, cause of the cold. Been raining, hailing, & only 20-30 minutes up north, there's snow on the low mountains. I'm gonna drive up to, Salt Lake City, Utah, in a week, & be welcomed by 9° temps & giant piles of snow. Idk how to drive in snow 🤔😱
I hope your heater is working well & everyone's healthy, warm, & unstressed!!! Happy New Year 🎊 !!!
Couldn't imagine having snow! We get rain, wind and heat! That's it.
I feel sympathy for Typo. When I had my open-heart surgery, my medical team installed a constant blood pressure monitor in my carotid artery. I was very happy when they finally removed it.
Hope she is all better and recovered soon. Be well Slug! 🥰🥰👍
Hope you’re doing well! And thank you 😊
@@TaraFarms You're welcome. I had a full recovery. And I'm still ticking 4 years later.
🙂
Glad Slug has a great caretaker like you. 😎
Glad to hear that slug is doing better. Growing up I had a dog with a similar issue and unfortunately passed away during surgery. So sending my love to slug ❤️🩹
I’m sorry to hear that. Thank you, Typo is on the mend.
Good to know Typo is doing well, hoping she heals up very soon.
Yeah, the humidity has been bloody rotten, so much for the long, hot, dry summer. Predicting the weather is a near impossible job at times.
It's been crazy! I've had to change clothes at lunch a few times in the last few weeks because I just sweat through them.
Much love to Typo. Such a good dog.
I have a leg catch crook and it's awesome for adult goats! I'm so glad Slug is doing better. I had no idea that could happen
That would have been useful 😂 we probably have one someone covered in spider webs! And thank you she’s recovering well!
we have foxtail grass in our part of the world, dunno if its down under too, but it is the absolute Devil when it comes to grass seeds that get in and don't get out
they can definitely kill if they get too far in and at the wrong spot, so glad to hear the Slug Dug is fine and dandy now that you've caught it and gotten it out asap
They have kept it so we’ll see it when I get it back. But they can be very dangerous!
Grass seeds get into everything. Ugh. Love the the way tell the sheep ' you are not dead dude' , so funny. 😂
Give Typo plenty of moistens from us since she wont be in the dam for a bit ❤
Absolutely! Top requirement for her recovery!
"Shake Shake Shake!"😂 So glad to see your humor shine through in this very worrisome time for you. Waiting for news can be so stressful but I'm (and all who watch) soooo glad to hear that "our" Slug is doing well🥰
She is recovering well and think she’s ready for work again 😂
I wonder if the sheep know that you are helping them? Wishing Typo a speedy recovery, she's such a sweet dog!
Doubt it, they run kick and wiggle enough not to 😂
The drawing bring joy to my soul
So glad that Typo is recovering. I love how absolutely honest you are about your work. Typo does make it look alot easier.
When u were saying u were so replant on typo I was gonna suggest a crock but it would but interesting trying to use a crock form a ute it's easy to from a bike but the ute would be a a different story
‘Hold on let me wind down the window’ 😂
Yea it would be like that
Awh I know how upsetting that is, I had a mini poodle that was a foxtail seed magnet. Feel better soon sluggy girl. x
Hello from Florida! I hate when its hot and rains because then these damn flies show up and try to get in my flat and then if they get in they are desperate to get out.
I’m glad typo is all fixed for now. I look forward to seeing her running about in another video or two.
Good to see The Slug on the mend.
Had one of my old girls cop a grass seed up her nasal meats, had traveled a fair way in too. Bloody scary.
I love chocolate mousse almost as much as I love Typo.
It's good stuff as long as it's lactose free 😂
That is some wicked grass seed out in the paddock! Poor Typo. Praying she recovers quickly!💕🙏
quite hard job you do, girl
you are skilled
I can sense a great love for your animals too
Great vlog! Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes for Typo.
Thank you for watching :)
Thanks for the Typo updates. Good work today.
Glad the surgery went well
My aussie's nickname is also slug. ♥️♥️ I'm glad she got through surgery well and is on the road to recovery!!
Thank you for all the technical information to us city folks. And we just love listening to you talking. our a dear.
😃 best wishes for Typo's recovery, and yours. ❤
Awwww slug! I hope you feel better soon.
Glad to see Typo is OK.
Your videos are amazing! Thank you for taking the time to document everything. It's very refreshing to see educational vids. I'm glad Typo is feeling much better and is a very lucky doggo. I hope you guys are ok with all the rain (Qlder here) Rain is better than bush fires imo. Stay safe!
Omg the dog is so cute
Typo is a character... Works well and long.
And there are days she deserves her "Slug" nickname.
Thank you Typo is a great dog :)
@@user-dh6bj2me5p what did I do to you 🥲
Excellent news on Typo's recovery. Thumbs up on maggot drawing and your vlogs in general 👍❤️
Sending love and prayers to typo. 🐾❤️😊 Rest up slug we miss you !!
Cordless shears are all sold out, haha popular
I can see why!
@@TaraFarms put them on your Santa list, I'm sure one of the companies with sponsor you a set. Pretty good advertising 🤣
Sounds like foxtail here in oregon, our poor short dogs got seeds up the whooha (and ears and in the nail beds and in the eyes) i hate those things, the secondary infections are awful too. Trying to cut it made it worse cuz the seeds would develop overnight, glad your slug is on the mend! May the grass fear her revenge.
Between the return of the fighting the comments intro, your siq drawing, you trying and failing to catch sheep without Typo, and “I’ve got a thistle up my a**”. This is one of your funniest video yet 😂
Would love to see a video of you attempting to learn how to lasso or use a shepherd’s crook and trying to catch sheep (maybe on Patreon 🤔 )
I do like that idea 😂 I’ll have to see if I can fine one!
So is grass seed like the foxtail here in Canada. I'm glad your pups alright.
A slim line wild oat is what us Aussies call a grass seed. They get in-between the dogs toes and cause problems too.
Very similar yes and thank you :)
Glad alls well. Thanks for the video! Amazing never considered this could happen.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😊 learning a lot 👍 hope your side kick gets better soon ❤
Aha I was just about to ask where you got your hat from and saw it in your bio. Great present for family members who are agricultural farmers. Cheers!
Yeah, I get asked that a lot so I just linked one in my bio so people could go there and get it if they wanted to :)
Feel better Slug! Glad you got onto that stupid grass seed quickly. Moisten and heal up.
The vet's kept it for me so I'll get to pick it up next Thursday during her follow up!
Hoping for a speedy recovery for miss Typo.
Phew, so glad Typo is healing well.
Omg! All the best!😮
Good thing you caught Typo's issue when you did. Sad your sheep have such issues with the fly strike. I've lost a couple chickens to them because they had traveled into the abdominal cavity
Typo: Heal! Tara, you are such a great fur mom! I wait (almost patiently) for your uploads. Your dry wit, innuendos, imaginative content, and fafo attitude just make my day. Thank you for being you!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Love your channel ❤️ thankyou for your education in your field. 😊
Glad Typo is home and healing. Now you just have to get through the moping around when she thinks she shhould be allowed to work. Lol.
She’s good at that 😂😂
@@TaraFarms I can picture the face, and the ears. 😂🤣
Such a cutie. Glad he is okay ❤
Thank you, she's recovering well! 😊
Glad Typo is well on her way to a full recovery.
Glad Typo is doing well now! Cheers from Miami, FL USA
I'm soo glad Typo is doing better. ✌️💜💜💜
One of my Alpacas had a grass seed in his eye. It caused an ulcer in like 24 hours, vet came out n had it out in seconds. Glad Typo is okay.
They cause damage quickly but do recover most of the time, we see them in sheep a lot and just pull them out from under the eye lids. And thank you :)
Get a Typo2 puppy for Typo to train! That would be awesome to see! I hope she feels better & be sure to update!
Pup can be called Officeworks 😂
Not yet, I'm waiting for Typo to get a little older, I already have 2 other dogs at home and my work dogs live in the house also.
@@TaraFarms how old is the slug? I have it in my head that she’s a teenager…
You have a Typo and 2 other work dogs... What do they do?
Typo ❤❤❤❤ so glad she’s ok! ❤❤❤❤
We all tend to underestimate how much our dogs do for us, be it working it just being part of our lives. Enjoy your down time Typo, working dogs don't get many of those days!!
Great channel with great content. Yes, this is Australia. Thanks
Hugs to Typo! 💜
Try again! I've already got grass seeds in my socks! Get well soon, Typo ❤
She'll find someone else to put them! And thank you!
Never thought that humidity would effect sheep farmer. Thanks for sharing what you know.
More artwork, Tara! Audible laugh on that one❣️
Ok, I was already enjoying the video, but that drawing & the speech bubble: ✨ perfection✨ lol
