  • Our journey starts as we make our rounds, tending to the precious ewes and their adorable lambs. Amidst the heartwarming scenes, we encounter a ewe who has rejected her own lambs. Witness our quick thinking as we carefully tie her to the fence, creating an environment where we can provide the necessary care.
    As we tend to the rejected lambs, we face the reality of the situation. One lamb, too weak to thrive, is placed into foster care where it can receive the specialized care it needs to recover and grow stronger. It's a poignant reminder of the challenges inherent in farming and the determination to ensure the well-being of our animals.
    But the day holds more challenges and opportunities for us to lend a helping hand. Watch as we assist a neighbor with his sheep, tending to a ewe that has experienced a prolapse. Our expertise and willingness to aid others showcase the strong sense of community that often defines farm life.
    As the day unfolds, we move on to the ewes with older lambs, feeding them grain for their nutrition. Amidst the task, we encounter a ewe in distress, stuck on her side. Witness our expertise as we administer a 4-in-1 injection under her skin, helping her regain her strength and balance.
    Join us on this rollercoaster of a day, where challenges are met with determination, compassion triumphs, and the well-being of our animals remains at the forefront. Don't forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to our channel for more captivating farm vlogs and to stay updated on our farm adventures.

    Hi Tara, I see it's still breezy out your way. I have heard the price of lambs at the weekly sales in Victoria have plummeted to the lowest for years. Its strange the supermarkets are still selling lamb for $25 - $30 kg. You did really good to save one healthy lamb who is staying with mum and the other one is nice and fluffy after a bath and is on the mend. So with all the hundreds of sheep you have, there is always one that tests your patience but you handle it and move on. Great community work helping out your neighour, you saved him a vets visit and fee. Thanks for some interesting sheep work with your trusty Typo. Chris from Bendigo.

      Hey Chris,
      Yes not good at all Sheep prices, we’re contracted to a specific group with with the primeline wethers this year so we will get a decent price for them. I don’t know where the difference is going because 70kg lambs are going for $170 which is not good.
      Very glad those lambs did well and survived.
      Some of the time I’ve found when we’ve actually had a vet come out to look at a sheep we’ve known more. And because we’re out of town our call out fees are high so I’m happy to save them the $500 for a literal 10 minute job.
      Thank you for watching!

    7:14 those prolapse spoons are for the birds. There’s a way to tie a thick rope (middle of rope on back of neck, ends go under front legs, cross over back, under back legs and up past the tail and tied to where ropes cross on the back). Then you just put two loops of twine above and below the vulva to keep the vertical rope sections right next to each other other. The ewe can lamb through the harness without help most of the time. The rope needs to be pretty snug and looks uncomfortable, but it sure works

    Go Tara, you know your shit girl. Love to watch people that have expertise in a very specific area. It looks so seamless, like you were born knowing this stuff. Yet of course there is a hell of allot more to it than there looks to be.
    The uwe you gave the 4 in 1, what was causing her to fall down? Also whats in the 4 in 1?
    Who are the carers and what happens to the lambs after going to the carer? Do they belong to the carer after they revive them? Are the carer's paid? How does it all work.

    • @TaraFarms
      @TaraFarms  11 месяцев назад +23

      4 in 1 is basically an IV you’d get in hospital. But this one goes under the skin then disperses. I’m not sure what caused her to do down, sometimes sheep are just weaker and sick like people. She could have been sunbathing and couldn’t back back up. No other sheep in the paddock are showing any signs of illness so I don’t know.
      The carers are people who I’ve found on FB who want some lambs, I give them to them for free and they keep them. Most lambs usually end up as pet lawn mowers, a couple I’d guess might go in the freezer.
