The success of the channel is you, Hilarie and your family. Each video is like visiting an old friend. Not physically old but you know what I mean. I, personally, like all of the interconnected components of JAFAF. The sum of the field work, animal care and mechanical projects etc is greater than the parts. The first thing I do each morning after performing my meager household chores is to check for a JAFAF video. When one of your videos appears I make such a big deal of it that everyone is sick of listening to me. BTW the royal blue JAFAF pullover is great. Happy New Year to you, Hilarie and family, including your dad!
If you filmed yourself cleaning the house, us old loyal viewers would indeed watch you. There is something about your calming voice and words of wisdom that elevate your channel, like no other. With all the chatter and mess in the world today, there is an element of calm with you. Thank you!!
Hear, hear! I watch the channel for the whole life and cycle of the farm, all of it, exactly as it is. Keep up the fantastic work and don’t change a thing!
Pete: I am 90 years old. Never been a farmer. After breakfast every morning I always look for your video. I have looked for you each day over the last couple of years. I really look forward to your videos. You do such a fantastic job in explaining every subject. I have learned so much about managing a small farm. You folks work real hard. Please keep up the videos. I am interested in any subject you can take the time to post. P.S. My son was an architect. Retired now.
@@CletusMcFetus85 a lot of people have multiple accounts. This one for me is my oldest, but I have two others with different profiles, that get different suggestions. One I only watch movies with, one I only discuss politics
I am in Ireland and love that you highlighted the Dexter breed. It originated in Dundrum Co. Tipperary. That village has a great number of Dexters now. The owner sends the hides to Europe where the leather is tanned and made into wallets and purces. The bones are exported to make bone China. Maybe that might be a further enterprise for you. Love your content.
Please don't change anything based on what YT thinks they want. Your life, your rhythm is what is attractive to your core audience. Thanks so, so much, Pete!!!
In my book, your channel is the cream of the crop, and if there were Oscars awarded for RUclipsrs, yours would be Number 1. Thank you for what you do - it is truly appreciated !
Pete, I will speak for many others that the big thing brought to the viewers is peace. You have said many times about how watching the cows eat brings you peace. I love to see you and Hillarie get along and have fun working together and not throwing pitchforks at each other. So many people are attracted to the peace you exude in these turbulent times.
Good morning Pete! I mean this in the most genuine way possible. I don’t think your core audience actually cares what you are doing. We are here for you. You and your wife are such a breath of fresh air. I live 30 minutes north of Syracuse so it’s fun to see a “local” farm so close to home on RUclips. I have just bought 14 acres of land and have 2 kids under 4. My husband and I have no intentions ever on rebuilding a tractor, or farming cows for that matter… but I love watching you. I work from home, put your new video on and listen to it as I type away. Do the animal videos interest me a little more? Yes. But I love your cheesy jokes, and your knowledge, how practical you are, etc. that I watch every single video regardless. Follow your heart on this RUclips journey and your farm journey and we will be here waiting! Happy Wednesday 😁
That's cool, we are looking at moving to the Syracuse area! My wife has a remote job now, we are dissolving our farm in Oklahoma, and we've been house hunting around Syracuse and also down by Pete's area, as well. We are in a similar boat of hoping to find a few acres and a house, but no intention to farm at this time. Real estate is tough up there! We've had a realtor helping us look for about 6 months now to no avail, but I'm hoping spring may bring us something! And I agree, I watch Pete because I like him as a person, and I enjoy his educated views on life. The farm is a nice bonus and gives us something we can relate to. I love his approach to daily life, his deliberateness, thoughtfulness, and overall peaceful demeanor. It's a breath of fresh air in this world.
Pete, I have always love to watch you folks. My opinion is this. You do whatever you have to do to stay afloat. I've seen the bigger farm videos too. They are having the same problems. Trying to stay& keep afloat. It's always the ceo's who make the money& they don't do nothing. But yet they want their stuff& some times right now. It's the little guys who loss out in the end. And yet it's the small business that made the ceo's rich. They don't care where thire money comes from as long as they get it. So hang in thire my good friend !!!! GOD BLESS you & be with you as well !!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@TomLowers Stay on course. Your podcast is perfect. We appreciate a fast we are okay if you take weeks off. You're our coffee drinking friend (while I cook breakfast). What you have done is a pipe dream for many of us. It is nice to vist with somebody actually doing it.
Pete, I'm one of your regular viewers and I'm also one of those people that likes all the different types of videos that you put out, the animals, the mechanical, and the philosophical. But whatever you decide to do I'll keep watching.
Pete, I think you are doing youtube right. You're not chasing the profit, or analytics but instead staying honest and showing us what you do on daily basis. I don't know what more could audience ask for from a full-time farmer. Keep it up and happy 2024.
I like that you are up front and honest portraying "a in the life" of a small farmer. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the various subject matter your videos have covered. Keep up the good work.
Pete, as someone that grew up on a dairy farm in New York, every winter was spent in the shop working on equipment to get it ready for spring and summer. I think you’re doing a great job at showing how true farming is done on a small family farm scale. I remember how we had to make those tough decisions and stop raising some animals and move to what was more profitable to keep the farm going. Keep up the good work and stay focused on Jesus. He will never lead you astray.
To me, Pete comes off like an agri Mr. Rogers. I mean that in the most respectful way. I like Pete and I'm glad I found his channel. I've been with him through one account or another from the start.
I am 83 years old and was exposed to my brother's farming efforts when I was in HS. As a younger boy we visited family farms. I loved it. I love watching you. Your work ethic is outstanding! Making do with less! I admire your mechanical skills. Your connection with your animals is great. Keep it up and I will keep watching.
Pete, You could walk the fence line, look in the woods, talk about your manure pile, chat with Patty and do anything with your tractors and I’ll be watching it. You are a calm influence in my life and anytime I see a video popped up it makes my day.
Pete, when one of your videos drops, I feel as though a friend has dropped by to visit. From the animals, and tractors, and even when you just have a talk with us, I thoroughly enjoy it. I will continue to follow, no matter what.
Don’t change a thing Pete! Even if it feels repetitive, it’s been endearing to watch you put in the work year-over-year. And enjoying it! And taking us along with you.
As I have stated before, you do what you do with your videos. The loyal followers such as myself and others will always be here looking for the next “Few Acres Farm” adventure.👍
I’m an 81 yo suburban female, no farming background apart from gardening. I enjoy the tractor videos as much as the animal videos. I’m not sure why, they are interesting and relaxing. Keep on keeping on! Happy New Year!
Pete, this is your channel, your content, your passions. I watch to see that passion. What I see is what you provide and why I come back to EACH video. Thank you sir.
I should have included this. You will lose viewers who don’t agree with what I said, but that’s okay too as you’ll get new viewers. RUclips in itself is a full time job. That is the reason, along with my personality, that I choose to not do it myself. I’m okay with a town job and then having the farm. We know firsthand the costs of raising pigs, cattle and chickens and share your pain as we determine to keep our leave certain aspects of the business. So far, we are still all in as it also provides for our family. The regulations that impact our ability to sell privately are discouraging and costly too. So, chin up and do what you do best-teach us, like you have for the last several years. Thank you.
Pete, I love your genuineness and desire to create a product for everyone to enjoy. I know I'm speaking for just myself but I love it all: the animals, the mechanical, the talks, the field work song montages. So while I love you wanting to experiment to create a better product, you can know you've got at least one (and I'm sure plenty more) that is going to enjoy anything you put out because it's going to be infused with your frankness and warmth that I enjoy above anything else. Thanks! Looking forward to your next chat, whenever it may be. (And I'm really sad to see the writing on the wall for Titus. Since we share names, I've always rooted for him but change is inevitable. Glad I've got to see him live such a good life on your channel and interested to see how his final chapter plays out.)
I'm glad you took a well-deserved break. We are glad you are back!!! Can't wait to see what 2024 brings to your farm. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. 🎉🎊🎈🎉🎊🎈
Happy New Year to you and Hilary. Pete, I think my feelings about your channel is echoed by many of the comments already posted. However, I just wanted to say that I believe like myself the vast majority of your viewers enjoy your content just as it is, it's your channel after all not mine or anyone else's, especially those who seem to think they can advise you (tell you) how it ought to be. If you're at all unsure on which way the channel ought to be, I would suggest listening to the silent majority as they obviously feel all is good and there's over 400,000 of them and only a few complainers. What I really enjoy is the enthusiasm and husbandry skills that you and Hilary have, the variety of the farm as well in the videos themselves; I like them all even the mixed ones, after all you have what we called in the UK a mixed farm. Finally, hopefully the pig market picks up as they’re one of the high lights for me. Thank you for your channel and the integrity and with that, stay true too you.
Pete - my whole family enjoys your channel, from the “dad” jokes , animals and tractors too. Everyone needs a holiday and we are grateful that you are continuing to make videos. Happy New Year
Glad to hear confirmation the lack of videos was taking time to enjoy life and nothing worse. I miss the seasonal cycles of the family farm growing up and enjoy witnessing them at least in your videos. Cannot honestly tell you what it is that draws me to your videos, but am grateful for what you produce for me to consume.
Hi Pete, I am 86 years old with a lot of time to view videos. I was raised on a farm and I own a farm, but it’s more of a vacation type farm/home. Your videos are refreshing and I appreciate your knowledge and common sense that you exhibit on your channel. I understand how a person can get a little burned out sometimes and need a break from the routine. I am a Pete and Hillary fan and will continue to watch your channel, if it’s doing chores, farming or rebuilding old tractors.
Im a bit older too.. I was “ cityfolk” , but got the privilege of living & working on a horse ranch for over two years! I sure learned a lot and worked in all weather .. I’ve bucked my share of hay & turned windrows to dry with an old wood hay rake. AND all the other chores involved. Overall it was one of the Best experience of my life! Nothing like greeting the sun with a cup of coffee & my dog, heading out to feed everyone & clean up after them too. No fat on my arms back then lol! ! If I could have made a living at what I was doing back then , I would have stayed on. I really enjoy this channel too!
Pete you’re the reason I watch the channel. The farm, animals, equipment that’s the cake we all come to enjoy but you’re the icing that tops it all. Stay true to your self put together what you like to do and we will enjoy that content.
Let your channel evolve as it will... I love pretty much everything you do. Yes, seasons are cyclical and the winter is a pause in field work. Love the tractor restoration videos, love your construction projects, love listening to your deliberations and reasoning on the workings and the future of the Farm.
Mr.Pete,We enjoy watching you working on the farm.My High School football coach pulled from every day life that made up his coaching philosophy. One that stuck with me all these years was that"The Farmer Doesn't Get Up Everyday And Go To Work,He Wakes Up And Is Surrounded By It".Your wife is a real trooper. You both are very organized and work efficiently.Your relationship with your animals is special.I love the way the cattle come running when you call them.My son raises some pigs and chickens. You are his inspiration.God bless you and your family.Nick and Cindy.
Growing up I remember Mr. Rogers. He always had a variety of subjects but one thing was a constant. Rogers was a kind man who was always curious and offered a soothing relaxing show for a kid to watch. You Pete are the adult version of Mr. Rogers. Every single video you make I watch as if its a gift for the week. I love every one of them (especially the chickens). The big messages is your shows popularity revolves around YOU and less about the subject matter!
Glad you had a break - cleaning and reorganizing is always restorative for me. You seem like you are in a great place right now. Honestly, your videos are the highlight of my online week, and change or no change, I will always return. All the best this year, Pete.
Hi there Pete, im a big fan of your content, especially the wrenching on tractors and equipment. I would love to see more old tractor restorations from start to finish.
I am dittoing others’ comments. We are in our 70s: my husband grew up on an Ohio farm. I grew up in Jamestown NY in grape country. I wore short pants the first time I met his parents and they put me on a trailer collecting bales of hay. These days we are simply retired from occupations in the public sector. We simply tune in as part of your core group to listen to you, Pete. We aren’t leaving and will follow you to the barns, the fields and to your workshop. You are the man.
I think many RUclips channels burn out-both creator burnout and audience burnout-because they can’t keep delivering the same narrow band of content forever. The creator gets bored and the audience gets bored. I love the seasonality and variety of your channel. I love learning about farming, raising animals, fixing old tractors, cross stitch, and clocks.
Hi Pete, As many have commented, we love your channel because of you! Your authentic common sense ways. The hubby has been a heavy truck mechanic and fabricator for over 40 years and he loves the way you share step-by-step your repairs and restorations, he learns from you. I love the animals and the explanations of why you do what you do with them. I have been enjoying the slow-life end bits of the animals resting, roosting, and being safe and comfortable. So I recommend you keep sharing what you are comfortable sharing and topics that bring you joy.
Also love your videos because of you, your witty, friendly, intelligent personality. Also we feel a part of your daily farm life...enjoy seeing all the animals and every aspect of their care. I grew up on a farm so your videos bring nostalgia and comforting feelings. Thanks for all you and Hilary do!
Hey Pete, I think we all appreciate your honesty about the channel. There are many people on RUclips who would've stuck with pigs simply for the views even with it being unprofitable and unrealistic for the average farmer. I like the cyclical seasonal videos you do. It makes sense as winter is more of a slow season for you to fully jump into your hobbies and allow us to join you. Happy New Year!
@DieselRamcharger "ranchers" are out west where they have hundreds to thousands of acres to spread out. "Farmer" is an inclusive term everywhere else in the world.
I watch my grandson every day. He’s the energizer bunny but I was able to get him to stop for a while with your hay cutting videos. He’s obsessed with his Papa’s tractor. Santa brought him his own tractor for Christmas. I love your videos.
I think you may not understand why so many watch. You say you want to show sustainability of a small farm, but that is not why most people watch. Your affable, your close to wife and children and your dad. The animals are living things and people see the care you have for them. People watch because of affinity , humanity love, and stewardship over the animals. We can get excited for red tractor, but it is because it brings you such joy.
I've been helping my in laws farm since 2009. We primarily raise soybeans and corn. My father in law used to raise pheasants, but kinda transitioned more to chickens. Now, we raise quite a few meat birds, laying hens, some turkeys, and some hogs. Recently, my wife and I have started the process of buying their farm. I absolutely love what we do, but I've always enjoyed the small, farm to table type operations. I started researching different options and that's how I stumbled across your channel. I'm really glad that I did because I thoroughly enjoy it. I showed your channel to my father in law and he has become a fan too. I'm not partial to any specific topic or genre. I just enjoy watching the content you give us. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter what you post, because I find it all interesting. I've learned many different things from you over the last few years. I think that's one of the major reasons I keep tuning in. I still want to transition our farm more towards a farm to table type operation, but that's still a long ways out. When I do, there's certain aspects that'll be modeled after your operation. Thanks for putting in the work to share what you do with the rest of us. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Looking forward to the next video!
Pete, I come here for you, your knowledge and experience. I also come here for both the animals and the tractors. You can't make everyone happy, but you make me very happy and I appreciate your content beyond what I could ever convey to you. I'm struggling with brain cancer, and all your videos are my eyes into the life I wanted to live before health problems took it away.
I tell friends and family who know that I am a retired farmer that I do my farming these days on RUclips. Your channel stands as my favorite because it reflects not only what I used to do, but how I used to do it. Keep up the variety as I like them all. As for the frequency: do what makes YOU happy and I'll look forward to seeing them.
You forgot one of your primary selling points - PHILOSOPHY. I'm here for that - you - as much as the animals. I'm one of those who skip over the mechanical videos.
I discovered this channel in 2019 when people started talking about the pandemic. I can say that it made my life much more pleasant than the things that were happening. You could even say it saved my life somehow.I am grateful to Pete for everything.
We, hubby and I, love both seasons of your videos. The animals, out in the fields, etc is so much fun; watching you restore a piece of equipment is so informative and entertaining since we both enjoy that sort of thing. We LOVE the dad jokes. YOU are the main focus on your channel, what you do, how you do it, your philosophy, it's sharing YOU. Yes, time moves on and we all have to readjust what our life style is according to this, as you transition into your senior years that alone is a topic of interest to know how do you go from a fully active farm to a senior farm where you need to slow down and regroup - something every person walking into seniorhood faces. Your attitude towards life is an inspiration for many of us who struggle with the same ever changing life from our many points of view. No matter which way you take YOUR channel your core group will support you, numbers are indicators but need not be that important to cause you to shift for US, after all, your channel is about YOU so always stay true to YOU and you'll do well. Thank you for sharing your life with us you bring warmth into our lives by being YOU. Blessings
I appreciate your time Pete. Thank you for your content. I am from Michigan here and have never farmed. Watching your videos is like being at the farm itself. And it's like you are allowing a person to be a farmer in your eyes . As America used to be small farms . I appreciate your work that you have to do each day on the farm and especially the RUclips video. Please keep them coming.
Pete, I’m not always the best with words but I hope I can convey what I’m thinking in an understanding enough way. But I just want you to know that I appreciate your videos, your time, your effort, and everything in between that you do to provide us with content. When I first started watching your channel it was while you were still somewhat doing the farm business videos. They greatly intrigued me, and helped me (and I know many others) understand what has to go into a small farm. I also started watching your channel simply because you are a small farm and I felt I was able to connect to a certain degree because I myself have been a helper to either my dad or a friend with small farming and I enjoyed that ability to connect. As you gradually ran out the farm business videos and started showing the day to day videos my enjoyment grew as you were able to so easily convey what it’s truly like to be a small farm! I guess in the end here, it’s just so enjoyable to see someone just as passionate about something I’m also passionate about, and that’s what makes your videos great and… YOUR videos! So keep being you, passionate about farming and teaching/connecting people to farming. THANK YOU Pete, for your wonderful videos. And I appreciate your openness toward us to the deep thinking you do!
Hey Pete, i just wanna say that your videos have helped me and my wife in making decisions on the farm. The way you work through your ideas and come to decisions has really influenced the direction of our farm. We really appreciate you!
I'd enjoy a woodshop video now and then. Watching you make things with your dad is fun too. 👍 A louder horn is cheaper than new brakes. 🤔 Thanks for sharing, Pete. ❤
Pete, I'm no expert on anything really. But I was thinking of your water runoff from your barn. You mentioned gutters, as I did too. Gutters that relay water to holding tanks? Water for your animals, washing your equipment etc. Perhaps a French drain to distribute the water? Just My Two Cents, for Just a Few Acres Farm.
Core viewer here, I was touched by your appreciation. Keep balance in your life, one video a week is fine, or a video whenever you have something to share, thanks for asking.
Mr. Pete I really don't know how to say what I want to say, but you're the type of person I could just sit and listen to all the time, you offer way more than just equipment and farming. You're a wealth of information and a great storyteller. I like all your videos, in any format you decide to make them. Thank you.
Dear Pete, I have been a loyal viewer of your channel for quite some time now, eagerly anticipating each new video you release. Your content is truly exceptional and genuine. The way you care for and raise your animals is truly admirable. Personally, I would willingly pay a higher price for a farm-raised pig compared to an industrial one any day of the week. I am willing to pay a premium for grass-fed beef and pork because I understand the value it holds. Growing up in a farming community, I not only appreciate your strong work ethic but also your unwavering dedication to your animals. Perhaps you could consider seeking input from your customer base to determine what adjustments are necessary to sustain your business. Please do not feel guilty about raising your prices, as many farms have been impacted by the current state of the economy. It is evident that you are not trying to take advantage of anyone, and we all understand that this is simply the cost of doing business in today's market.
Hey Pete, another great video. As a newly retired small vegetable farmer in NW England, I'm now able to enjoy my passion for restoring old tractors. It's true, winter is the time when things outside slow down and mechanical work gets busier. I enjoy watching you working in your workshop fixing your equipment just as much as I do seeing you using that equipment during the spring and summer. Keep on making videos to the same successful format you've been doing over the years. Happy New Year 2024 to you and all your family. Best wishes. Peter. 🇬🇧🚜
It is absolutely wonderful to hear from farmers around the world who watch Pete and Hilarie. You all validate that Pete is doing successful small farming recognized as efficient in the English speaking world. And we can learn what things you guys do differently. I love the MAGIC of the (honest part) 0f the internet. Happy New Year to you and yours.
First thing I have to say is, your camera has a red spot right in the center for some reason. I am guessing a new camera is in order. Also, I love your channel Pete! Dont change a thing! I really enjoy watching your videos atleast 3-5 times a week. Keep up the great work!!
You know youtube is a lower priority when someone takes a break in what is historically the most profitable time of the year for youtube add revenue. Got to respect it. Thanks for all the great content, and best wishes for 2024!
I enjoy just about all your content, Pete. I'm surprised you don't announce more breaks throughout a year. I personally lean towards the animal enterprises because that's what I do, but you do you. I enjoy the diversity.
There is an ebb and flow in farming (well, at least in Northern US), so it makes sense that content changed with the seasons. I watch this channel mainly because of the connection I feel with Pete and Hilarie, the humor, the frank discussions, the honesty about farming on your scale. You keep doing you. BTW, like to see you smiling and refreshed. 👍
Pete. We love your videos just stay original. When you come home with 3 brand new tractors and new pick up every 6 months . Maybe I’ll quit watching . Love all the cycle of things on the farm . Please don’t get burnt out. . Take a week or two off when you need it . We will be here . God Bless you and your family . 👍👍👍
Pete I enjoy seeing your farm life as it evolves. Your thoughtful observations about the realities of life for the small farmer are interesting and noteworthy. I’m a city girl and I’ve gained a greater appreciation for what it takes to get food to the table. Please continue to share your story with us.
Pete, In a chaotic world your videos take me back to my roots and wholesome values. Everyone needs time to recharge. I appreciate your content and just hearing Patty complain to you or you saying, “Come on cows!” Makes my day brighter.
Pete, Long time viewer and absolutely love everything about the channel. Obviously you’ve made a very “real” connection with people who follow the channel. I can’t add anything that hasn’t already been said more eloquently than I could. Thank you very much for the effort and heart you and Hillary put into the channel! GA
I really appreciate Pete's sincerity and did not realize until this video popped up in my feed that I had not been seeing JAFAF. The political situation in America, the wars in Ukraine and Israel took me away from a very interesting and relaxing with Pete's channel. I'm a former farm kid who raised hogs, milked cows and enjoyed the country life. Why did I have to get to my 70's to truly value the rural upbringing? Happy in New Zealand. Thanks
I absolutely love your videos regardless of the subject. I'm 73 and was raised on a mixed farm in western Canada, so your actions with machinery and animals is a great reminder of simpler and enjoyable times. Glad you took a rest as it's well deserved. And glad you will be posting more often again. DON'T CHANGE A THING! Thanks to you and Hill.
I like your mix of farming/ranching and fixing/restoring your tractors. Change is understandable and personally I’ll keep following your channel whichever route you choose. You have a very calming effect on my day.
I enjoy every aspect of your channel. Coming from a farm when I was growing up, your operation brings back many memories. I spent many hours on a Farmall H. Cultivating corn. It has to be my favorite IH tractor. As a farm kid I apricate you showing the everyday things that you do. I always enjoyed working with the animals. As a antique tractor collector I enjoy your restoration videos. I spent the 45 years in the auto repair business so your mechanical ability impresses me. Your Chanel is one of the first ones I look for.
As a new farmer I very much appreciate your knowledge and willingness to share it. I’ve learned a lot. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your time.
Pete, great summarization of all things Just a Few Acres related. You seem to have really benefitted from the break, good for you! As part of the "Core Audience" that you spoke of, our only concern was you and your family's well-being. I realize that we do not know you personally for the most part, but it feels as if we do because of your generosity of inviting us into a small part of your lives. We care about you because of that. Rest assured we will have your back and support whatever content you provide! On to the 856! Murfreesboro, TN
Have been a subscriber for years. I'm retired, a suburbanite, never had or will have a farm and a woman. I sincerely enjoy watching your channel. I like the animals, your talks, even watching you haying, etc. You and Hilarie are wonderful ambassadors of farm life. Down to earth, honest and showing us what the small farmer really deals with on a day to day basis. Will be here viewing as long as you, or I, can. Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and your family.
Pete, from a viewer that has followed your channel and journey for the past year, I think filming the struggles that a small farmer goes through is very interesting. I am close to you in age, and recently retired from a large professional organization, much like you did. I will likely never raise animals ( I do have a couple of dynamite raised beds though), but I find the problems that you face, the though process behind the proposed solution, and then the analysis afterwards to be very insightful. Those processes I think are what is very interesting about your channel. So thank you for your content, and I hope you continue to film all aspects of your journey.
Hey Pete, #1 take care of you. There is no channel if there's no Pete & Hillary. Your chats have been honest & refreshing ... like your videos. I've always been impressed with the gentle respectful way you deal with all your critters. If people didn't wear their hearts on their sleeves about the business side of farming and your explanations, the world would be in worse shape. How people treat animals is a reflection of how they treat each other. That people care is great. When they understand & not rationalize, it makes for a better reality. As for content, I love the smell of hay when you're cutting it. The memories I have I can smell. My lilacs and fresh-cut grass are great but different from hay. Last summer, I parked on a gravel road next to a hay field that was being mowed ... there was a nice breeze, it was hot, it was sunny, the tractor was just chugging along and the mechanical noises were just right ... soothing. I waved at the farmer, he waved back. I watched him cut about half of the field I think, before I nodded off right in the box of my pickup ... He was still cutting when I woke up ... he waved, I waved back and finally drove home. Your videos often bring me that kind of peace. That you tell Dad Jokes works for me too. And you talk in a normal conversational voice. Do what you feel you have to do. I'll be watching with no fast-forwarding. Thanks Pete, I'll be waiting for your nest edition .....
I grew up on a traditional dairy farm in central New York, capital region. Our farm went down with a great many of others in the late 70s and after that I moved away. Now, at 53, I've rediscovered my love of farming and my desire to leave this legacy for my son. You have shown me that it's entirely possible to do this. Every video you post is affirmation to me of that possibility. I'm late to this. We started building up in 2021. We have our mini farm in Missouri and we're set to ramp up this summer. You are one of our examples of possibilities. I hope you keep with us for years to come. Thank you Peter.
I don't know how other farmers/homesteaders do things but for me winter is the time I use to work on all my tools and machinery. Yes I still have to feed water and check on critters, but for the most part I would prefer to be indoors rather than outdoors. I live aprox. I hour from the Canadian boarder so winter time is cold. And I rarely comment but I have been watching your channel for years, something very enjoyable about watching someone ELSE doing the chores LOL.
Pete, I would consider putting gutters on the barn if that's your major source of water in the rainy season. we just built a metal barn like yours at the farm I work at and we put on gutters to direct the water away from the barn on one side. that way you could have all the water go in a different direction and pipe it away further, you wouldn't have to worry about the ground anymore and let it dry out. We haven't tried it in the snow yet but it should slide off over the gutter. We had professionals put it on and was an oversized gutter at about a grand for a 60 ft span.
What keeps me coming back is the wholesome content. Regardless of if it's the market, the animals, hay making, chores or mechanical, all your content is upbeat, family friendly, inspiring, educational as to small farming, and generally enjoyable. Looking forward to whatever you and H put out.
Thanks for genuinely being a good guy Pete. You have offered many of us a masterclass in small farm business and general mentorship in all things farm - both the romance and reality. You also produce good video quality - audio, editing, light, shot framing, and more. Like fencing, I enjoy your work in progress that is this channel.
Pete. If your a small farmer you need to be able to fix your own gear. That’s part of farming. I’ve went back to your videos for reference when working on our gear. Don’t stop what you are doing! Just keep doing you. Your a genuine person who enjoys what they are doing. I’m still trying to break into farming. I use you as a mentor. Thank you Pete!
Pete, I’m a bit older than you, but I look at each of your videos just like the farmer mentors that I had growing up. I remember going to the local diner nearly every morning with dad (maybe grandpa too) and shooting the breeze for an hour or so with other farmers and ag people. My dad used to say “you’ll learn more talking to the other guys there than any college degree will learn ya”. While I did go to a pretty good ag school, I think my dad was 100% correct. Different operations have different opinions on how to get things done. The hog guy learns from the beef guy and the green tractor guy can learn from the red tractor guy and so on. There are now three of us older guys at the diner every morning now trying to consciously revive that mentoring attitude with the younger guys, but it’s been difficult. Pete - I think you (and a few other RUclipsrs) have found that you can reach so many more in the industry and share just like at the diner. You are also blessed by your gentle style, to have the ability to bring along MANY other non-farmers and show what it is we are all about. Every video is much appreciated and we consider them a blessing.
Pete, We love watching your channel because it feels so real. The changes in content follow the changing seasons and the changes in real life. And you are such a calm and positive voice in this crazy world.
Hi Pete, and thanks for helping us understand both your goals and your needs for the channel. One thing you might not realize is that while most of us viewers are not, have not, and will not, ever be farmers (or tractor mechanics!) we watch because of you. And your family too, of course. I'm never going to butcher a chicken or rebuild a carburetor, but I enjoy watching and learning from you - how YOU think a project through. Sure, there's an entertainment value here but it's more than just mindless cow flops and pig poop - a lot more! Even though I'm done working for a living, I still want to, no, I NEED to keep learning to make my life whole. I've done the career 180 turn (twice) and it's always interesting to see how other people reach that point and how they react to it. Watching how you and Hilary deal with the ebb and flow of farm life and husband and wife, as Mom and Dad, as neighbors and friends has given me LOTS of ideas on dealing with issues - from a viewpoint different than mine but one I can certainly learn from. I'm sure I'm not the only viewer that really appreciates the efforts your family goes through to create this content. And like you realized with your hectic schedule, it's all a balancing act - too much and YOU burn out (and we all lose), too little and WE lose interest (and we all lose). Keep working on the balance Pete - just like like itself it's never finished. Thank you Pete and Hil, Happy New Year, stay safe and healthy (ha, I got a dose of Covid for Christmas!) and do what you do, for as long as you want.
Hello from Marion Ohio, it`s amazing that a man can actually make a decent living from just a few acres in these modern times. We enjoy your channel and look forward to your realistic and wholesome farming content.
Personally, I come to your channel to share your farming and restoration experiences. I never really got the chance to do that when I was younger and have always regretted it. I'm too old now to start so your channel allows me to live it through your videos. Bill
I've been a city girl my whole life, until we moved to a 23:48 rural location this past summer. I'm 70 years old and this change is not at all what I expected. Parts are not good, parts are good. Regardless, I've always watched your channel and have always enjoyed everything you do and I hope to continue that. Whether you are working the livestock, working on mechanics, mowing the fields, or bantering with Hillary, it's all delightful. Especially when you sit in the field with an animal, or sit on a hillock, under a tree, it's all good. Even when you go to tractor sales and auctions, it's all good, Pete. You could post different stuff, I e. Hillary cooking, gardening, etc., but what you do is real and delightful! Thanks to you in particular, and your whole wonderful family, all generations. Looking forward to seeing you guys soon. Also, as a side note . . . My grandpa was an architect. Came here from Switzerland, married my grandma and they "farmed" 9 kids. Anywho, thank you and please keep doing what you do.
One video a week is more than enough, for my part. Your channel. Your schedule. =D The restoration videos are as enjoyable as the animal videos since they show how you change with the seasons.
If variety is the spice of life, it seems to be the necessity of farming. Your content is interesting, educational and insightful. Folks like me will watch it all and others can choose the spice they like. Thank you!
Its your voice and the sound of the tractors.....I hear grandpas 300 while watching, I my mind goes back to doing the same work years ago until I left farming in '86....Thank You.
Pete - You and Hillary “Do YOU!!!” I love your channel for it’s authenticity. My husband and I live on a small 40 acre farm. He works at the Hardware Store in town. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE when he comes home, if “Just a few acres Farm” has a new episode - that it is on! You, Hilary and your lifestyle is so calming, relaxing, your voice, your commentary - I feel like I am talking with an old friend! Don’t give into the pressure of ‘RUclips’ - Just keep doing what you love and sharing that! Please don’t measure your success on ‘Watch counts or views’. Measure it on your daily successes on the farm, with Hilary and your children. I don’t watch a lot on RUclips……but I faithfully watch your channel. It’s real, it’s interesting, it’s honest and even if you share with me your “daily winter chores” 3 times a week……We (me and my husband) will be there faithfully. You may not realize - how many of your patrons would do ANYTHING to have yours and Hillary’s LIFE. That should be your success! Keep being YOU! I can’t imagine our lives without “Just a Few Acres Farm”! God bless and thank you, thank you - THANK YOU! WISHING YOU ALL THE BEST IN 2024. - PS - Your Pigs are so darned cute! I love them - Can you keep two for pets and for the channel? Your relationship with them is so precious……just saying….
Pete, it's not hard for me to understand the daily routines you go through. There's no holidays, weekends, sick time, days off. So, keeping that in mind honor yourself and follow your interest. Fact, I'm glad you took the time off in December, you deserve it!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing and "Happy New Year" to you and your family
It is awesome you took time off. Just let the viewers know my husband was so worried about you he wanted me to try to track down your personal number. He thinks of you as a friend.
Dexters are all over the place here in SW Missouri. Some very nice looking stock. I agree with another poster, let your channel evolve as it feels right to you… we are just observers and, I think I speak for most of us, pretty much enjoy whatever you put out.. While mechanics may not be my total jam, I find that I learn things when watching, and, as always, your philosophy on life; learning to enjoy the small things, the simple things, taking successes and failures in stride and learning from them. There is a lot of experience and wisdom in what you call “jibber jabber”. We just need to take it in and apply it to our own lives.
Thank you for your outlook on the small farm. For years we raised chickens and ducks, horses and cows. All the while we both worked full time. My In Laws were across the road, so the Kids supervised when we were working to keep the farm alive. When we decided to retire from work we retired from the farm as the kids were out of the house. Thank you for your candor. You have been interesting and have positive comments. Lynn in Montana
Hi Pete! I hope you had a good break and a wonderful holiday! It’s so good to see everything is fine and well. My 2 year old daughter and I love your videos (animals and mechanical). She loves hearing patty moo and complain just as much as hearing the old farmalls running and putting around. She is my little farmer and we enjoy what you have put on RUclips. We both hope you have a great day and we will see you next time!
18:30 i think your you have a great video formula, i enjoyed all of your videos and i have to say 3 videos a week is nice at least for my viewing . I thank you for your time in making these video and am glad to know that everyone is fine and you guys had a great Christmas and a good new year ❤
Pete, the real heart and attraction of your channel is you. Your friendly voice, your neighborly ways, your intelligence.
Whenever I'm stressed and need some quite time I come here.
Totally agree with that
Just listening to Pete is a great way to destress, I love just hearing his thoughts and contemplations.
I wish I were Pete and Hillary's neighbors!
Thank you!!
😂👌
Agree 100% !!
Thanks Pete whatever you decide we will be behind you 💯 percent
Definitely
GREAT REPLY!
I agree
We live in Canada and we enjoy your program very much keep up the good work
I love how your channel changes throughout the year, it’s the reality of a small farm and you depict it perfectly. Don’t change a thing!
Agreed. No need to change.
Other than the Bull of course.
I agree 👍
Hear, hear! I watch the channel for the whole life and cycle of the farm, all of it, exactly as it is. Keep up the fantastic work and don’t change a thing!
Pete, I enjoy your tractor restoration videos. Glad you were able to take a break. I hope you have a successful year on your farm. Bryan
We love you please don't stop your videos
Blessings to you as well.
I like your videos and I understand Filming the public, but the farmers market is always relaxing for viewers not for you
Please don't change anything based on what YT thinks they want.
Hey Pete, I think I speak for lot of us. We really appreciate the time and effort you and your wife put into this channel. Thank you for that.
Pete, you are truly a well spoken man. I love listening you.❤
Good morning Pete!
I second everything in this comment. We'll said.
Amen! We love ya Pete n Hillary!
I was
“ cityfolk” , but got the privilege of living & working on a horse ranch for over two years!
God bless
I listen and watch your videos because I know you're intelligent and a good listen.
Pete, we (regular viewers) will be here. Your presentation and your bad dad jokes are what brings me back again and again. I love all of your content
The big messages is your shows popularity revolves around YOU and less about the subject matter!
totally agree, adult Mr Rogers, peaceful dialog which has much value, but the person's demeanor is what is so attractive
That is the highest compliment 💕
Glad you had a break - cleaning and reorganizing is always restorative for me. You seem like you are in a great place right now. Honestly, your videos are the highlight of my online week, and change or no change, I will always return. All the best this year, Pete.
Love the tractor restorations, but really love the GRASS HEALTH and HAY videos!!! Love the Cows and chickens to.
Hi there Pete, im a big fan of your content, especially the wrenching on tractors and equipment. I would love to see more old tractor restorations from start to finish.
Well said and I agree 100%.
Great news pete
Thank you for the update
Glad to hear there was no health issues. You and your wife are a gift to people like me who like small farm life.
Please keep them coming.
best to you
Pete, I’m not always the best with words but I hope I can convey what I’m thinking in an understanding enough way.
A louder horn is cheaper than new brakes. 🤔
Thanks for sharing, Pete.
Mr. Pete
I really don't know how to say what I want to say, but you're the type of person I could just sit and listen to all the time, you offer way more than just equipment and farming.
How about ur cooking recipes, grilling? I enjoy those! And some more from the farm market interactions?
Pete,
Long time viewer and absolutely love everything about the channel.
Thanks
Just keep doing what you think is right for you, I really enjoy the channel.
I love fencing! I think if could have land and a hobby, it would be fencing. Crazy, huh? Marcel from Saskatchewan.
The restoration videos are as enjoyable as the animal videos since they show how you change with the seasons.
Just a quick note, I really like your pigs and the way you interact with them! Billy rocks!
Thanks for sharing your families life living on a farm. Your insight and ethics is educational and refreshing.
As a fellow farmer you do a great representation and explanation of true life on a farm. Keep up the good work
Thank you for your outlook on the small farm.
