- Its good news in action today...Tweaking our successful fly control system, working on the barn project, making our rounds with the animals doing chores, celebrating the success of our grazing system as proven in the dress weights of our first steers of the year, and being fully stocked with pork, chicken, beef and eggs for another busy summer season at the farmers market.

A cow with no legs is called ground beef. What do you call a dog with no legs? You don’t. It won’t come when you call it! Great to see Ezra!
😂
What's the name of a gal with one short leg? Eileen.
did you get that pete LOL
How come cats are always saying Meow, they never learned how to say Me To.
@@user-lh4zi3ig2b Religious joke.
Q. Why do you call your son Isaiah ?
A. Because he has one eye higher that the other.
25% more beef with what appears to be less effort. That's a win, win.
I remember studying different grazing techniques over 40 years ago. Intensive grazing was new to Texas, then. Moving the herd to different fields every 7 to 14 days. Just like you're doing. One of the benefits was the life cycle of flies being interrupted by these often moves.
Have a great day, Pete and Hillary!
I have also heard that if you run the chickens behind the cows that they will pick through the poop and eat the fly larvae before they have a chance to hatch and become flies
@@noelhenderson8095 That's awesome!
I have a few very awesome videos I watch and your one I love watching you every time we have a new video. Keep it up Pete

Pete, I really enjoyed this video, especially your comments about the complete farm - I could hear the satisfaction in your voice and it made me happy because you and Hillary work so hard.
It's amazing seeing the cattle waiting, looking at Pete to lead them to..., As though Pete is head of the heard when he's present. One can observe if not feel the cattle are at ease while curious in Pete's presence! Ah, another glorious day on the Few Acres Farm!
It must be frustrating having a successful RUclips channel and having to deal with comments. I think you recently mentioned you just ignore most of them. That's probably the only solution. Best of luck with the farm.
I've been watching you for a long time. with translation into Russian. you are very good hosts. Sincerely, Gennady Fadeev. hello from north kazakhstan
Genius at work and lateral thinking helps defend against the perennial enemy. Cows will vote this year for Pete as Man of the year! Many thanks for all your hard work and entertaining videos.
Thanks Pete & Hillary for sharing always look forward to what's going on at Just a Few Acres.
Glad to see fly control is working. Good job, Pete! And thanks for another great video. Greetings from Slovenia.
Pete! Lovely meeting you at the Farmers Market on Saturday (Ohio peeps). Dad wanted to do a blind taste test. So, along with the fresh whole chicken we picked up from you; we also bought a whole chicken from Aldi's. Obviously, the chicken we picked up from you was the winner. Best chicken we've had!

Just very glad to know you folks weren't affected by the flash flooding I saw on the news yesterday.
Praying you stay above water guys. We aren’t doing well… family trapped all over VT and NH. Watching your video lightened the mood for me for awhile. I appreciate your content Pete.
Thinking of y'all. Stay safe as you can.
Prayers for all in your region
God Bless.
Hi Pete, you can also attach a bovine face brush/scratch to a tree/post and put your solution on there. They'll thank you for it.
Very educational. It could be shown in any school as an example of American Farming Family at work. Beautiful. Thank you.
I totally agree with you 100% but it should be shown all over the world, simply brilliant. 🇮🇪
I'm sure it's so satisfying to see people purchase and enjoy your products. I don't have enough to sell, but I enjoy eating from my garden.
I love how your cows talk to you.😀
My dad, born in 1907, used to say that blood spots were from excited chickens, so you should knock on the door before going in, and don't give chickens broken eggs because they'll get a liking for them and then you'll have a problem. When we visited NZ we found eggs on store shelves because they don't wash them. In the US we do. I married a farm girl and we won't rattle on about drinking raw milk! Cheers from Wisc :)
Thank you Pete and Hillary! Billy is getting big!
Great fly control…will work for sure. You handle the farm so well. I love the chickens, it’s tough to beat happy chickens. Pete you are my weekly source of normality…..thanks.
Yeah, for sure the world has lost it.. it appears covid killed all the brain cells of anyone who hadn't lostem to drugs. 🤣
Always a great day when there's a new video from my favorite farm channel. Thanks Pete.
Pete, congratulations on all the positive things happening on the farm! 100 lbs increase in dress weight is quite the accomplishment. The other positive I saw and was impressed by was your partner. Hillarie is completely engaged in the operation and I know she is 100 % part of the farms success. A trained nurse no doubt. It is refreshing to see two trained professionals who changed careers for the rewarding farm life. Even more amazing is you are accomplishing this on 45 acres! Well done! Jeff
Fly controls are definitely working this year!! Good news!!❤
Pedrozambro
We always used them tubes with strips, and that was always the best thing. I'm glad you got it nailed down now, and the pete and happy tails are all around!!
I spent my entire adult working career concerned with “yield” in the meat processing business. I enjoyed your results in “yield” of cattle weight because of a grazing change. The weight gain will end up in your wallet. 👏👏
I love that they continued the "throw the crappy dad jokes in the manure spreader" but from the last video! 😂
You cut wood in cold weather so that it warms you three times:
When you cut it.
When you split it.
And when you burn it.
Pete........ the cow whisperer 🦬 🐮 🐂 🐃 !!
Pete I wish I had words to express how invaluable your videos are. You and Hillary are an absolute gem of a couple. In a world full of crazy ideas and politicization, you go the distance and tell it like it is. It is absolutely amazing. The little ideas you have and the words of wisdom, your the only channel no matter what I will never unsubscribe from. At 41, I was raised on International Harvester. I'm in Kentucky but if I'm ever anywhere near the Ithaca market, I'm gonna come by for sure. lol! Love you Brother...........Keep telling me about them "Piggers"!
Ezra is the real boss in the farm, no doubt about it. I think the only thing this year I can complain about is the extreme climate swings. Everything else is as usual.
Fantastic news about the weight gains in those steers. Experiments are so difficult to conduct on a working farm. You took a pretty big risk and it paid off, plus you shared your experiences with the rest of us. Hats off to you, Pete.
Catching up on the videos I missed. Looking forward to the next one
Pete & Hilary | awesome lifecycle example of beef, pig, and chicken
Could of used the walnut tree and made some breakfast bowls, and used them for a competition,if you can think of one ,or give away to your valued customers at the farmers market , 👍😁the wood has nice patterning markings and wood come up nice with stainer varnish , 👍
Basset hounds are our farm helpers!
That’s awesome 100 pounds more meat. Can’t beat that! Loved the video will see you in a couple weeks to buy some stuff at the market
As always, another great video. I like the way you keep your comments brief and to the point without too much unnecessary verbiage. Great job Pete!
Piet, how do you store the eggs from the laying hens? It would be nice to have that process demonstrated in your videos.
Again?
Hello Pete, Thanks for another great video.
Wow, a 100-pound increase on the dress weight, What a difference. It's great to see the shift in grazing really pay off.
Have a great day!
We love to watch your videos. We "like" & send comments to support y'all in a guesture of our gratitude.
We laugh out loud to your puns & your jokes. We are guessing that Hillarie is the source and she spoon feeds them to you to deliver. We all know she is your "Gracie Allen to your George Burns". ❤
Good to know about mob grazing. All that work for less results! So funny. Thanks Pete and Hilary! Good to see Gray and Ezra
I love the rural king fly traps! 1 gal containers and put scraps in them, filled in no time!
Out here is California I have to wake at 5am for work. Worth it with a new video to accompany my coffee!! Thanks.
Fly controls are definitely working this year!! Good news!!. Fly controls are definitely working this year!! Good news!!.
What kind of award do young chickens like most? Pulletzer!
PVC pipe under and in-between layers of manure might give more Co2 to pile. Just a thought.
Those chickens sure LOVE their Hilarie! Even trusting her when they're broody too. That's a shame that only two of the little monsters survived on that last batch of piglets. Hopefully Brownie and Bossie will step it up and help out with piglet numbers.
The flies definitely appear to be less of an issue this year. That's great news.
Nice, big steers is a blessing. Congrats.
The weight difference is amazing. Did it also affect the marbling?
What a nice dress weight. Hopefully the cull heifers show the same promising trend.
Well done, Pete and HIlarie! That increase in the dress weight of the steers is phenomenal!! You deserve a huge pat on the back for that and it will certainly help with the bottom line. Good for you!
Watching the freshest episode of Just a Few Acres is a great way to start my day!
Hope you aren't getting the bad weather the news is reporting for the Northeast.
Stay safe.
I agree with you, rot is greater than burn. Burn only when you need to make heat for cooking food, or warming up. Never for cleaning up...❤
Well guys that's a huge gain in Dress weight and it proves that the old ways of rotating cattle or any stock through lush pastures is good for everyone. Cheers.
The weight increase is tremendous. Any business would be thrilled with the percentage increase. Its always good to see the pigs. I'm looking forward to the battle of the bulls. My money is on Orton this year.
100 lb gain! That’s awesome!! We have been letting our cows (dexters, south polls and jerseys) graze open pastures too mainly because there are two horses in with them and they can’t be trusted with poly wire. They will injure themselves. Good to know that the cows might be gaining more because of it.
Thanks for sharing. Always learn something from Pete!
Good solution for flies on the cows. Down in southern Virginia we are experiencing a tick explosion. ugh...
Pete, Hilary, one of the very best videos ever! We saw all your animals, even Ezra! Love the way you and Hilary work together so well. Your love of the land and your respect AND love for the animals is just wonderful. Still want to come see you at market one weekend. I live in the city... summer schedule is rather busy... may not make it until early fall. We'll see. Meantime, keep on keepin on! You ROCK!
After seeing your manure pile, I use a spray bottle with vegetable or canola oil. Squirt in puddle on tarp and Its done. no mosquitos! once per rain storm does it. or when you see its clear. In the barn where critters or cats cant tip over
Pete’s narration is like a good old story around a campfire. You just sit back comfortable and take it in
Another awesome video. Thanks for showing the birds. It’s fun watching Hilary taking care of them. Such a calming and loving place you have.
Thanks Pete for the update Video!!👍👍
It’s good it’s working I gave up years ago. I never thought it made much difference.
Patty is a character. Love her. Thank you Pete. Loved your Dad joke! LOL
TY Hilarie for wearing the Nebraska T-shirt!😊
God Bless you and your Farm Pete!
Great video. Enjoy your day too
Good morning Pete. Thanks for your videos.
Great news from the farm today! I wish you luck in your new season!
Congratulation Pete, that’s awesome.
Cool thanks Pete 😊
It was a great video, thanks.
Thank you so very much for sharing your farm with us. You are wonderful ❤
Wonderful video!
Great video Pete
Good video Pete!
Thanks for the video Pete
Thanks for sharing your day & another great video!
100 pounds that's quite a bit of more meat that you got there I'm glad for you Pete
6:38 wrong tractor Pete. 😂 Also I'm not sure that wasn't a threat from Hillary. " Why don't we have a dog" lmao I'd say sleep with one eye open but that might encourage her lmao. Love your vids. We bought a 17 acre blank slate 18 months ago and been building our farm with our own 2 hands as fast as we can. We went with Redpole cows. 🤘👍
Thank you for the video.
My daily dose of the farm. Thank you!
Have a blessed day
I hope you warn the cows about "no smoking", around the fly control! Lol. Great video!
Nice one, Pete
I know it's not saying much but your eye doctor joke was a big improvement over your jokes from the past. I may even spread it around. Great video!!!
As always thank you for sharing!
Everything is looking fantastic Pete!
I like seeing that little brown calf. What a bruiser!
Good for you guys! That's GREAT!!!
Thx again
Ah, did everyone see that one steer jump up on the other one? Pete's going to have another calf soon to feed, so keep the pastures green and the hey a coming!
😂😂😂😂
Uhm, you do know that steers don't reproduce, right. And heifers also jump.
@@B4UClose Correction! Jumped up on the heifer, and not other steer! Hmm 😏..., Maybe the both are gay, never know. If they were, maybe they're woke, wokies, woke cattle. If they are, then they can have offspring, a calf, LOL.😂😂😂😂
In Kentucky if you cut wood this time of year you get 2 heating out of it
1 when you cut it
2 when you burn it
Actually three or four. When you stack it. Another if you split it. Ask me how I know.
Great video
That was a very nice summation.
Get better soon buddy!
Awesome Pete! God Bless you ll "down on the farm"
Good stuff today! Lots of positivity
Have a wonderful day 💯
What a great video!
Thank you for sharing what farming is all about.
