    Thanks Hickok for everything. I got into handguns I think about 8 years ago. You were my guide when I bought my first handgun (I was into hunting/shotguns prior), an S&W 686+. I still love that video where you shoot all the cans and stuff on twigs, and then you had a split case. And the bandaid! Now I need to watch again! I carried it, then tried striker fired semi auto stuff, and now (thousands of $ later) am back to the 686+ for EDC. Love my 44 mag Smith too. Thanks for years of guidance. The new Colt Anaconda is hard to beat, sweet trigger and strong as the Ruger Redhawk. I would say that Colt have just set the standard for all to follow. • @bobjohnson1633
      @bobjohnson1633 2 года назад

      The model 29 ISN'T fragile, so it's just an overbuilt gun. I just traded for a 44 magnum nightguard, which is a 2.5" scandium frame. It doesn't feel fragile and the recoil isn't that bad.

      @@bobjohnson1633 It definitely feel fragile to me, at least next to the Anaconda and the Ruger. This is un-debatable. I do not say it is fragile, they definitely have proven to hold their own with thousands and thousands of rounds fired. It is also not questionable there are ammo makers that do not recommend to use their ammo in a mod 29, but is recommending to use it in stronger guns like the Ruger. I know there are ammo I would not use in it, but would not have any issue using in my Ruger or colt AC.

    Back in the '80s I got to spend a lot of time with an old Python. Best shooting, and most accurate revolver of ANY caliber I've ever shot, to this day.

    Hey Hickok, I bought some wooden grips from this place in Sparta, Tn called Deer Hollow Enterprises and they are top notch they are replicas of the old python grips. I bought them for my new 2020 python, and I like them a lot better than the factory grips and they look exactly like the original old python factory grips. Just throwing that out there if you want some factory like wooden grips, they do a awesome job.

    Bianchi makes the X15 extra large vertical carry shoulder holster that is good for carrying the long barrel Anaconda or the long barrel 629. Adjusted properly the weight is distributed between both shoulders and the waist belt. I love mine. Just a long sleeve shirt untucked conceals it. May take a little trial and error to get it adjusted right for maximum comfort but it is worth it.

    Mr. Hickok, have you looked into the Wilson Combat sights for this gun? I just added the rear sight (front fiber optic is on the way) to mine and really like the improved sight picture. Haven't shot it yet with the new sight (waiting for the front to arrive) but thought I'd mention it.

    There is something about a revolver....! That watermelon never stood a chance. I have a 1993 8" model. I believe the accuracy issues were worked out by then. These new ones look nice. Like you said, they are beautiful. This makes me want to go out and shoot mine, Also makes me want a new one. lol

    The plow handle like on a Ruger .44 magnum rolls in your hand unlike the rubber grip with a hump at the top to absorb the recoil on DA revolver.

    I had a 3" 629 with the round butt, it was a nasty beast with .44 Magnum. Very unpleasant. My FFL friend has/had an original blued Python, if he still has it come Spring I might try to buy it. It's in new condition in the box, truly a thing of beauty, old Colt bluing is incredible.
