When I bought my first Mini (used), we were sitting in a parking lot during a heave rain. Water began running in from the top of the windshield. Luckily it didn't screw anything up. The dealer eventually fixed it, but what a mess! I'm glad you were able to get yours fixed easily.
#1 Instructional Video to solve an inherently BAD Design in these FOB Antennas being in a place where CONDENSATION MOISTURE collects and flows into it's connection (cleaned up w/contact cleaner) keeping Mini Cooper FOB from working! BTW: Followed your directions to take it apart easy. But found I only needed to clean corrosion off connector points to FIX IT! Also... hardest part for me was twisting to remove it. So tight... took crescent wrench to turn it w/housing removed! ...oiled it up and went right back on! THANKS! :D

Any chance you know whether you can/how to replace a manual with an auto dimming rearview mirror? I just traded in my 17 Cooper S for a 22 Countryman. The 17 had the auto dimming rearview and side mirrors. I am missing it so much!
The difference is in the # of wires out of overhead to connector and Auto Dim mirror needing more wires w/ tiny sensor port on bottom of mirror edge facing to rear! So sorry if you pull your mirror down see only 3 wires, it can't be upgraded. You just have to deal with it being manual from what I've researched! 😐
Follow a question regarding the disassembly of the mirror you showed in the bonus footage... Do you have any idea how to remove the dimming knob? In order to get the board out it seems the only way is to break it and I'd really like to not do that
Hello, I have a F56 JCW 2018 and I believe I have the dimming button too, but when I try to turn the button it doesn't work, I don't wanna apply to much pressure and brake it but is that normal?
The manual dimming button like this one? That is easy and it's a twist and not a push. The electronic one, I can't speak confidently on so hopefully someone else can chime-in in the comments!

I only found the breaking method as well. I am sure there is an official way but I do not know of it unfortunately.
I replaced the mirror but the fob still doesn't seem to lock the car. any ideas?

Q: what would happen if you could not replace the mirror. ( part on back order) . Would the key fob still work??

That was from MINI Takes the States 2022 so at this point probably eBay is your only option :-/
