I did not know this existed so I'm really stoked to see it. All three of these men had a way with a song, well, with Tommy Roe it was "Sheila" and "Everybody" and should have had long, fruitful careers. Maybe they did and I just lost track of them but this video is just plain kool to see and fun to watch.
There was some extreme talent here. I wish that Billy Joe Royal and Joe South were still here with us to share their wonderful voices with us. Tommy Roe is still here, but has retired. I Love all of them, Joe is my true Love.
I honestly don't know what to make of this. Sullivan apparently wouldn't even let South do his own guitar playing, he made South sing the song as part of a trio, and his musical director Vegased out the arrangement with horns. That's not how South intended for his song to go. But I know, it was Sullivan's way of making these performers more palatable for conservative family audiences. That was old Eddie for you!
They will do it in bits and pieces. They uploaded a minute and a half of the start with Joe South last week. Believe me, I wish they would upload complete medleys too since watching complete performances is better than watching parts at a time. Also, it would allow for more efficiency in uploads so that they could get to more videos before the three year contract is up for posting music content. I assume that they cut up medleys to increase their ad revenue. More videos, more ads. It's the only rationale I can think of. I love that they are making the rare content available, I just hope they post as much music as possible before the three years of posting are up, and I wish each musical segment could be presented in its entirety, or at least the medleys. In any case, I'm very happy for this channel and look forward to their posts each day, even if some videos are needlessly short.
@@TomElvisSmith Who is allowed to post for three years according to the contract? Do you know any other details about the contract, or have a link where I can read about it?
@@JoyneFreedom Sofa Entertainment, owner of the Sullivan archives, signed a deal with Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), which allowed them a license to post music videos from the Sullivan show. In the original press releases, it was stated they would be posting videos daily for three years, so I assume that is the length of the contract. They started posting daily in June of last year. If you google UMe, Sofa, and Sullivan, you will find news reports about it.
