I have posted comments about this song on other pages and to me it's a song that's still relevant more than 50 years after it made the Top 40. Especially 100 years after the infamous Tulsa massacre that wiped out more than 200 black owned businesses on what is still known today as Black Wall St.

I'm 18 in 2024, this is my first time listening to him and every song is beautiful, I used to always sing, don't it make you want to go home now, for as long as I can remember, I decided to look it up and found out that line was from a song that I didn't even recognize, its shocking that he isn't popular even today, he has so many good songs and unique beautiful messages written in them
Welcome to the age of reality. I grew up with those songs and yes, Hie South was one of the best. His songs were real and moral and had messages of the truth! I never got tired of listening to him. He wrote many songs too. Other people sang them. His spirit and who he was still ring out loudly in every word of his songs! A treasure we took for granted.
Welcome to the Age of Music! Sure there were good songs before and after the the late 60's/70's. But if you start talking to your parents/grandparents about music back then...I am sure you will hear some pretty crazy things. Life/music was so different back then. As long as you didn't go crazy, you didn't have to worry about a boot on the back of your neck. It was year after year of great music. When you think about it...music IS a time machine. The only thing that I know of that can instantly take you to another place and time just by hearing a few notes. Enjoy life, it really is worth living for. I still to this day will bast out singing out loud if I hear Hang On Sloopy...really any song I recognize. Singing is just Good for the Soul!!
@@yourealizardharry5383 That song gets into your head for sure. I know you are only 18, but one day you will see a country totally different from what you see now! I pray it's better for you! This song is from the perspective of a human being who feels compassion in ways most fail to. We all know people who focus too much on their ego & leave their souls to collect dust. Why is it so hard to stand together and live for one another? Let love in ✌🏼what a timeless song

WOW!!! I have been listening to this song since 1970. It was my dads favorite and I took the lyrics to heart. It has to be my mantra. I had no clue this video existed. Thank you so much for posting it. Sadly there are people who cannot fathom this concept. If I were running for a political office it would be my campaign song.
You were being positive and should have ended it at the last sentence, posting it.
A K: Agreed. This song is my guiding phliosophy. if iwere teaching a class on not judging people before You walk in there shoes, I wold make this song required listening.
THIS SONG IS MY PERSONAL ANTHEM!! I HAVE A VERY SERIOUS ,RARE ILLNESS THAT AFFECTS EVERY PART OF MY LIFE. I LISTEN TO THIS SONG MULTIPLE TIMES OF DAY. Thank you all for the positive response. I apologize for the late response. I do not look back at my responses very often. Tonight I am in a sentimental mood and brought this up and saw the kind words.
I have posted comments about this song on other pages and to me it's a song that's still relevant more than 50 years after it made the Top 40. Especially 100 years after the infamous Tulsa massacre that wiped out more than 200 black owned businesses on what is still known today as Black Wall St.
Wonderful song... so many memories.💕🎶
With everything that's going on right now, this son is perfect
This is really a gospel song, praise YESHUA
Joe was a spiritual man. He was not afraid to mention God and Jesus in his music. Joe is missed and truly still Loved.
Life should be lived accordinh to the lyrics of thids song. it's how I try to live My life. If more people did it, this would be a much better world.
Words that we should ALL live by
Thanks, Joe.
I thought of this song during a therapy session I had an hour ago, so I ran home and played it.
I'm so glad I did.
Oh, wow. Thanx much for sharing!
The first time I ever heard this song, I got tingles. Joe South, your sexy growl still gives me tingles.

Thank you! The vibe of 1970 in one song.
This song and the Games People Play, so true to life.❤
A lot of the younger generation could learn a lot by listening to songs from the late 60's and early 70's as well as reading a world history book, maybe starting at Germany 1928.

I'm 18 in 2024, this is my first time listening to him and every song is beautiful, I used to always sing, don't it make you want to go home now, for as long as I can remember, I decided to look it up and found out that line was from a song that I didn't even recognize, its shocking that he isn't popular even today, he has so many good songs and unique beautiful messages written in them
Joe South is pretty amazing. I think I know the other song you mention here. Keep singing!
I know you are only 18,
but one day you will see a country totally different from what you see now! I pray it's better for you! But my home town has changed so much in 50 yrs that I don't recognize it. Friends all dead and even the layout has drastically changed!
Nice read….i love Joe South. Games People Play is up there as one my favourite songs. All his songs are magic…even…Children!
This song is from the perspective of a human being who feels compassion in ways most fail to. We all know people who focus too much on their ego & leave their souls to collect dust. Why is it so hard to stand together and live for one another? Let love in ✌🏼what a timeless song
Great lyrics , walk a mile in my shoes and see from my eyes what I have seen , not a movie real life up to you in your face! The noise alone in combat is unbelievable , like being deaf watching lips moving .
Vietnam Vet Tom
My God, what a voice. So, so , so very great and beautiful.
