Johnny had a commercial fishing boat docked in Brookings, OR in the '80's. I used to see him walking the docks to his boat. He was such a popular singer. His songs were on the radio constantly.

He was the artist that made the ”Whiskey a go go” the most famous music club in the whole world! And that is enough to introduce hon into the Hall of Fame. But now there is just prestige from those who decide. I listen to Johnny from time to time, will do that for the rest of my life, because you can close your eyes, and you do know, right on the spot, that you hear Johnny singing! And he is also a super guitar player ( it looks sooo easy, when he plays the guitar). Go Johnny go!
agreed, you know the copper placard of the Whisky tells all doubters who was number one JOHNNY RIVERS/is in the top / He was doing this 50/s 60/s stuff but in a few years the Doors, lOVE, fAIRPORT CONVENTYION, THE NEW WAVE, bUT jOHNNY HAD FILLED IT EVERY NIGHT WITHY "OUTDATED MUSIC. But to compete, JR's hippy record is a revolution- the Highly rated Realization, which scored 6???? He did every genre, but there is something about the man, the voice, trhe 'easy guitar' not a singwriiter per say, i think because of perfectioniosm. But the one he wropte and they held onto, gave him that number one, and when we listen to ity, IT IS PERFECTION.The poor side of town. Being renounmced by the "club" is almost a badge of honor. They all; know he never had a band but used the best in the biz, THINK HOW SMART THAT IS!! Jim Gordon is in his monterey pieces, Hal Blaine. He was so ahead of his time, he signs the soon to be hitmaker gets his own label, signs the Dimensions who hhave a couple massive hits, Phoenix Jr's try then Glenn Campell- BOOM, takes on
Never heard of those dancers. I was way to young for clubs and too old for discos ( on my 20s)..Stopped taking alcohol and other drugs and stopped going to clubs. However as 13/14 year old I worked cleanup duty for Led Zeppelin, Who ( same concert), Who again, Doors, Willie Nelson, Jethro Tull, Ten Years after, Santana ( twice) but only saw Hendrix at Woodstock ( terrible acoustics) and missed Cream entirely. Years later Carlos again ACDC Blue Oysters Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, different version of Jefferson Airplane had tickets to Stones twice ( had 12 tickets for Capital Center show...always sold my Stones to kets to rich college girls) Though Hendrix and Carlos were my favs, Springsteen put on Best show. Very best all around Gato Barbieri ( RIP) Though he could not speak English, my Latin wife and him talked for half hour. I would have let Gato fuck her...but I doubt he had the energy after his first show at Blues Alley.
So let me think about this now. Guy was on every T.V. show many, many times including Ed Sullivan, American Bandstand, Shin-dig, Hullaballoo, Where the Action is and maybe even the Judy Garland Show. More gold records than you have fingers and toes. Believe it or not people still pay to hear him perform. Amazing
This song reminds me of my mom, she used watch American Bandstand every Saturday. I was age 7 so, she was age 28. We lived in Seattle, wa. He was so upbeat in his music and such a positive attitude.
Love Johnny Rivers. His music has such a great feel. It's at home in a club or a concert venue, but also at the local VFW or a backyard barbeque. And his ballads are wonderful.
I had the honor of driving mr. Rivers, in my taxi in north shore Lake Tahoe. What great and friendly man. Offered me to come back and play guitar. I balked. He opened hot august nights in Reno that week.

Chuck Berry and Johnny Rivers deliver a lovesong that is emotionally palpable to the ear!
Thank you You Tube. I had forgotten what a mega talent he was. Now Im listening to all his great songs.
I was smitten from this song the first time I heard it when it first came out and so grateful to the most underrated song writer of the rock era, Chuck Berry.
I can watch this video of Johnny Rivers singing this song over and over and over every single day and never never get tired of it.
Because your an " older woman "
@@larryenglish7366 I guess so
Nice one, Shirley.
Me to n he is fron Baton Rouge la.
Me too! I LOVE* Johnny Rivers--❤❤❤*forever* and *EVER*❤❤❤
Played this every Wednesday for 5 years and never got tired of it.
Why would this man not be in the rock and roll hall of Fame.
Because he didnt qualify under the criteria which must be followed by the Board.
what a unique talented voice Johnny has. I love his guitar style and sound. Unique as well.
Man, this guy is great! Brings back sooo many memries of my youth.
He plays guitar (for real). He plays his own solos (for real). And follows the camera cues to a tee.
Put him in the HoF, damnit!!
Lip syncing, guitar not plugged in.

@@Nobody_Important_YeaYeah, but that's what they had to do when they appeared on TV in those days.
I loved riding with my Dad and this came on the radio. I'm from Memphis. I love it.
Hello Janet, how are things going with you?
Quel rythme et quelle voix !!! Magnifique pour écouter et surtout pour danser le rock 'n' roll !!! Il allie une belle voix swinguée et un rythme sans pareil qui mêle blues et rock. Que du bonheur !!!
What a. Music legend..Johnny Rivers a genius at playing his guitar and getting phenomenal music out in circulation to all fans..great entertainer and outstanding performance..
Johnny had a commercial fishing boat docked in Brookings, OR in the '80's. I used to see him walking the docks to his boat. He was such a popular singer. His songs were on the radio constantly.
I have been trying to find this song for several years I couldn’t remember the name of it I always like this song because it tells a beautiful story about man and his daughter and how he missed his beautiful little girl anyhow Johnny Rivers I don’t know if you’re still with us or not thank you for that beautiful song I’ve always always love that song this is Jim mungai From Kennerdell Pennsylvania
He's 81 and still very much alive.
Nov 2nd 2019, Houston Texas, fulfilling a bucket list, going to see Johnny Rivers in concert
So he is still alive and giggin??
gene cornwell enjoy
Another great southern story song! Love it❤
I have been listening this song over and over and just love it. I grew up in 60's songs every night club were playing this song. good old days.
I grew up as a kid, listening to this song at age 7. This song reminds me of my mom. I think Johnny Rivers sings this song the best.
Hello Deborah, How are you doing?
If Johnny Rivers guitar doesn't give you shivers I don't know what will.
Ein tolles Lied. Als "The Black Rovers" hatten wir dieses Lied in den 60ern nachgespielt, einfach, gut und ein echter Klassiker.
"Johnny Rivers at the Whiskey Au Go Go" is one of the great albums of the early 60's. It's almost forgotten today and that is a real shame.
Everything is right and cool with this performance by this man. Rock on Johnny! Thanks Chuck!
Back when musicians had real talent. This song is a little before my time but it’s fantastic!!🎶🎶
It’s WELL before my time (I’m 44 about to turn 45), but like you said NOTHING compares to music from the 60s and 70s!! Thank God my tastes in music come from influence from my older cousins and my dad!!!!
It's before my time too (I'm 51) but I remember my mother playing it.
Wayyy before my time to. Im 28 but you cant get better music than this
A Chuck Berry song. But Johnny does a good job. Big fan.
it's before my time and i'm 65 !!!
My beloved Grandmother Charlotte loved this song. She was born in Pinos Altos New Mexico in 1897. She died in 1972. She was The Best!

Saw him the whiskey in 1967, he was the opening act for the Doors the week "Light My Fire" was released.
agreed, you know the copper placard of the Whisky tells all doubters who was number one JOHNNY RIVERS/is in the top / He was doing this 50/s 60/s stuff but in a few years the Doors, lOVE, fAIRPORT CONVENTYION, THE NEW WAVE, bUT jOHNNY HAD FILLED IT EVERY NIGHT WITHY "OUTDATED MUSIC. He was so ahead of his time, he signs the soon to be hitmaker gets his own label, signs the Dimensions who hhave a couple massive hits, Phoenix Jr's try then Glenn Campell- BOOM, takes on
He also opened and owned the goddamned place;.
Don't forget the Gizzarri dancers. Couchgrouch
Years later Carlos again ACDC Blue Oysters Bruce Springsteen, Dr John, different version of Jefferson Airplane had tickets to Stones twice ( had 12 tickets for Capital Center show...always sold my Stones to kets to rich college girls)
Though Hendrix and Carlos were my favs, Springsteen put on Best show.
Very best all around Gato Barbieri ( RIP)
Though he could not speak English, my Latin wife and him talked for half hour. I would have let Gato fuck her...but I doubt he had the energy after his first show at Blues Alley.
I COULD LISTEN TO HIM SING ALL DAY! I LOVE THIS❤
love that guitar sound, the voice knocks it out as well,,,
johnny never got the accolades he deserved. he put out some great music and had his own singing style.
He is one of the great ones!!
I was a fan back then!
Amazing
@@sandsoftime1954 I would!
@@brianlamberts756 So wood I ,Brian.
This song reminds me of my mom, she used watch American Bandstand every Saturday. I was age 7 so, she was age 28. We lived in Seattle, wa. He was so upbeat in his music and such a positive attitude.
Hello Deborah, how are things going with you?
Every time I hear this song, it brings back memories of my dad. He loved this song!

Love Johnny Rivers. His music has such a great feel. It's at home in a club or a concert venue, but also at the local VFW or a backyard barbeque. And his ballads are wonderful.
I grew up listening to Johnny Rivers, but never knew what he looked like, until yesterday. Liked ALL his hits, including "Memphis"
Jimmy Shirley ventures
I HAD THIS LP UPON RELEASE AD IT’S STILL A FAVORITE ALBUM OF MINE
I had the honor of driving mr. Rivers, in my taxi in north shore Lake Tahoe. What great and friendly man. Offered me to come back and play guitar. I balked. He opened hot august nights in Reno that week.
fantastic these guy's had no digital effects etc etc just raw brilliant music!!!!!
This song was before my time, but I love it.
Great. Brings me back to my eighth grade years. Never heard a boring Johnny Rivers song.
We will never hear music like this again. AWSOME

How great still sounds nowadays. Humble and cool man.🔥👌🏽
I like this Chuck Berry classic by Johnny. His better stuff came later but blending Lonny Mack's guitar style with Chuck's lyrics was what made this song. And yes ,he deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
I'm 28 year's old and this is my most favorite song 😂😎
Wonderful performance! Thank you!
Can’t get enough of this song!! ❤️
I am so addicted. I can't stop listening. I love all of his songs.
