Yes Lois, he has it all. I bet well into his seventies, he can relax in his office or his den. Look around the room and have a lot of satisfaction. Gold and Platinum records on the wall ,pictures of himself with all the famous people he's met all the places he's been. I don't think he cares much about a tourist attraction in Cleveland.
Elvis actually recorded this song first. Johnny Rivers was a guest at Elvis' home and Elvis played his recording of "Memphis" for Johnny Rivers who had never heard it before. He asked Elvis to hear his recording again. Elvis, being proud of his recording of the song, of course played it for Rivers again. It was not long after when Elvis heard Johnny Rivers' recording of this same song on the radio. Elvis felt Johnny betrayed him on this song. Elvis never wanted Johnnny Rivers around him again!
His music may be timeless, but it HAD to come out when it did. Can you imagine someone in today's society writing lyrics about, 'missing his 6-year-old daughter and all the fun they had'? I guarantee you that someone would interpret that in a pedophilic way and the fallout from it would be unimaginable.
We didn't make it to Memphis, but we were traveling in Tennessee one summer when I was a teenager. This song had just come out and made me want to live in Tennessee. We eventually moved there, and many years later I also lived in Memphis.

Why isn’t this man in the Rock n Roll hall of Fame?
I have been wondering that for years.
That "hall of fame" is definitely not for the cool acts. Nerds obviously run it.

Help me find a party that tried to get in touch with me
She did not leave a number but I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took a message and he wrote it on the wall
Help me, information, get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd call me here from Memphis Tennessee
Her home is on the south side, high upon a ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi bridge
Last time I saw Marie she was wavin' me goodbye
With "hurry-home" drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
We were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
She tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee
Help me, information, more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
Marie is only six years old, information please
You got to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee
