Also to comment on the drive mode gripe, yes you can set the mode and then toggle to it. Set it up by pressing the cobra emblem on the steering wheel when the car is in park and customize your settings completely and then every time you toggle the switch toggle it to the cobra emblem and your setting is saved, it’s super easy and honestly shouldn’t be a complaint weighing in what you get pound for pound with this car.

For the mode selector… hit it once then use the arrows in the steering wheel to choose track. It’s a lot faster than hitting the mode selector 4 times. Agree I wish it stayed in track mode at all times but then to your 1st point the gas mileage would be terrible all the time so sometimes I just cruise in normal mode to save gas.

theres two very obvious reasons why Ford did not give the GT500 a manual. despite the love for a manual, fact is the percentage of people that want manuals (like myself) is less than a quarter percent than those that cant drive manual. In other words todays generation of drivers suck!!! 2nd is the fact that the GT500 with a manual would post slower times in comparison to the DCT. and slower times is not a good selling point for the car that is capable of achieving far better with the dct. 3rd is the fact that with over 700bhp, people with manuals would destroy their transmissions and fry their clutches. which would be a huge complication for warrantee issues. 4th. GT500's with manuals would get alota people into alot of trouble. And lastly their is a better option... Getting a GT350R with a supercharger. The GT500 is arguably the better car, but it could also be viewed as an apples and oranges situation. The GT350 and R variant are amazing drivers vehicles, with a glorious manual transmission. all the car needs is more power, hence supercharge it. And your likely to be faster than the GT500. only issue.. the GT500 would still be the more valuable car down the road, as its the pinnical shelby mustang, not lacking the GT350's track performance edge. Unlike GT500 of the past which were all sorts of wrong, striaight line only rockets with nose heavy iron block engines. this GT500 is a Porsche GT3 RS killer. THe shelbys have become Race cars again. Ford basically took the playbook from Saleen, and ditched the muscle car dragracing only antics.

Mustang are a love hate relationship.. but overall its more love than hate. If you treat them good, they will be good to you. if you treatem like trash, well. they reflect their owners. Mustangs above all have something even supercars and exotics typically dont have.... TONS of CHARACTER. as mentioned Mustangs directly reflect their owners. They are indeed fickle, not perfect, rough around the edges, cheap in areas, but in all that, it makes for character. a soul. more so than most cars, and their manufactures that strive to eliminate such things. It could be said that a Mustangs best assets derive from its flaws. No other car speaks so much to its owner. ANd thats why so many people love the mustang, and why so many things like cheap interiors can be forgiven, because its not the supermodel, its average girl next door that dresses up for the prom and blows the pretty chicks out the water. Its michael Rodrigues in fast in the furious. a ride or die chick.

If you're only doing 8-10 mpg, you need to learn how to drive your GT500. Modes are customizable and you can program however you want them. Not sure about it defaulting to it on start up, but you can program your exhaust to quiet mode on start up every time. Minor things for an awesome car. It isn't perfect, but compare it to the Dodge and Chevy pony cars, and it is superior.

Gee, I wonder maybe if you drove in ANY drive mode OTHER THAN TRACK MODE you might get more fuel economy than 8 mpg!!!! If you want a manual, buy a used gt premium then spend 15k in upgrades then you can have a supercharged stang that will have motorsport suspension and 750 hp that will keep up with any gt500 and 1/3 the cost and every bit as capable.

Well, Ford shares several components across several cars (Ecosport, focus. You name it, they probably share something), Surely some of the buttons there can easily be found in a focus. Personally, I am not bothered by the feel of buttons, more of how connected you feel to the road while driving

Android Auto and Apple Carplay are revolutionary. No longer do we have to settle with proprietary nav systems or having to Jerry rig our phones on the windshield as alternate methods. Just a simple pair through your car and boom, simplicity.

The MSRP for a GT500 is still pretty fair. The motor, the supercharger, the DCT, magride are all expensive components.
There are Porsche’s out there costing more that don’t have Apple car play. Your car does. Use that for a much better navigation experience.

Correction my friend, as a professional Mustang enthusiast (for over four decades)😆 The average Stang guy doesn't buy a GT500 for track duty, they buy it for real world, drag strip, light-to-light prowess, and Mustang prestige and heritage! 😉 They've built a version of this serpent specifically for the track my friend!

  • @asdf51501

I get 12.7 MPG out of mine, but yeah, the range at full is about 200 miles. I don't drive mine hard all that much as it hasn't yet had its first oil change. The DCT and its dial shifter doesn't bother me, as I previously had a '17 NSX which has a push button shifter that's arguably worse. If there was a manual option, I'd have gone for it. The nav I don't use, as I use Apple Car Play in mine. You make good points and I agree, but like you I also love the car. In fact, as a daily driver it's much, much better than the NSX. Mine is very similar to yours with the same options, but in gray with the painted stripes, and I got it for 101K, not 120K.

Driving that thing in track mode cause u wanna hear more exhaust is what’s draining ur tank. Drive it in normal around the city & I bet ur mpgs are night and day. Ur not driving on a track why use the mode? That mode is meant to let the engine eat at higher speeds and rpms. I daily drive my Mach 1, I’m getting 24.4mpg..granted it’s a dif engine but it’s still a high perf multi mode track vehicle
