Fair review. Hard to go wrong with either car. Comes down to whichever appearance you like better. The fact that these two cars are beating the times of European supercars is what should really get everyone excited.
Same. I'd go with the Camaro mainly because I'm more familiar and loyal to Chevy but honestly, The gt500 looks cooler, in smooth kinda way. All in all, I know I'll get my money's worth out of the Camaro.
You compared the wrong cars/trim. If you compare the GT500 (no track package) to a Camaro, you compare it to the basic ZL1. The ZL1 1LE should be compared to the GT500 with the track package that costs over $100K considering the 1LE is the Camaro track package. Also, the lap times you quoted were for the GT500 with track package, not the base car. I would expect that the ZL1 1LE would beat a GT500 without the track package depending on the track. Also note that the track package on the GT500 costs $18,500. The 1LE track package costs $7,500. Also keep in mind the base ZL1 is *considerably* less expensive than the GT500. Also if you do want to compare the ZL1 1LE to the base GT500 as you did in your review, consider the difference in lateral grip of the two cars by Car and Driver- the ZL1 1LE does 1.18 Gs vs the GT500 doing 0.99 Gs. So the ZL1 1LE has *WAY* more grip and will corner much faster. As I said, you were comparing the wrong two cars (or trim levels). Granted, you may have not had access to the perfect cars for the comparison.
He owns a gt500, why would he make a video and talk about how he made the wrong decision? Love both cars but the dealers are out of their minds on the Fords right now. Not paying 100k for a non track version. If they drop off like the c7 z06 did a few years ago you will be able to buy one in a few years for 60k
@@im_cursed_huh9926 here in Detroit ford dealers are owned by ford no 3rd party to jack up msrp most Shelby’s here start off around 60-70k and top out around 110
I do like the exterior look of the camaro, mainly the front but it amazes me what Ford has done with the GT500 with the amount of power that engine puts out, the suspension & steering. My vote for the GT500 but I really like that camaro haha
I’ve been really enjoying your videos lately. I’m so thankful that we finally got the old parker back. I was scared for second that you were too far gone. I’m so thankful you overcame your troubles. We all love you and appreciate the free entertainment you bless us with🙏🏻
For me it was the manual. I know it’s not as fast and the car is a little less practical but I just love it. The mustang is amazing too though. Regular zl1 is also a lot less in real life right now and I love the fro my end. I get the love of the mustang though absolutely
If you opt for the seats that are similar to the zl1 in the gt500, they are indeed heated and cooled. The recaros are an option. After having them (Recaros) in both the gt350 and 350r I chose the standard seats in the 500. If I end up needing track seats I'll buy some that fit me correctly and mount them lower than the oem recaros, which dont sit low enough for my taste and pinch the hips.
@@robertmueller1406 no, what i was saying was I optioned for the standard heated and cooled seats which are also power. If I choose to put in a good track seat, I will mount it lower using their brackets. Likely will by an omp wrc xl. I've used that seat in the past and it fits my larger frame well and I can mount it low and where it's ideal for me.
Love the GT500.. but I love the ZL1 1LE a bit more. Might be biased. My ZL1 1LE is a track MONSTER. I feel incredibly confident in turns and stopping power, and that 6.2L supercharged V8 is magical!!!!
I feel like it should at least be mentioned that cooled seats are available as an option on the GT500. The way you said it makes it sound like the ZL1 1LE comes with them no matter what and that the GT500 simply cant get them. That’s simply not true though. It’s an option on both cars. Also, you can get electric seat on the GT500. Seem like the GT500 that you showed is about as base as it comes, whereas the ZL1 1LE that you have here seems to have more options.
It is not an option on the Camaro, it comes standard with the Recaro seats. Even the 1SS has them deactivated and people use kits to turn the feature on. The 1LE comes fully loaded, with all the options you can get. Some extras like the PDR or navigation are the only options.
@@turboboosted7169 what year? One of my first cars was a 1967 Firebird 400 with a hood tach. It’s the only f-body I’ve owned so far. I should be getting my ZL1 in 6 months or so (hopefully).
You could buy both these track monsters, plus a Corvette Z06 for less than the price of the Ferrari 488. I’m hoping to take delivery of my ZL1 1LE later this year.
I prefer the GT500 by far. In fact, I own a ‘21, without the CFTP and with the cooled seats. The Camaro is impressive (I previously owned two separate C7 Z06’s so I know what that engine can do), and while I like how the exterior looks without that wing, I HATE sitting in it. My GT500 is my daily driver, and it even did well in the light snow we got twice this past winter. Sure, a manual GT500 would be awesome, but I do like the DCT.
@@GrimSRT8 I did, but rejected it for several reasons: I don’t like the exhaust sound that engine produces (yes I know some folks love it and that’s awesome, but I’m not one of those folks). Also, I didn’t want a track focused car that winds to over 8000RPM. Lastly, while the GT350 looks great, my personal opinion is that the GT500 looks better. And besides, I used to own a ‘12 GT500, and I wanted to return to the model in the current design.
Lol…nice you prefer a slower car. Don’t like the view grandpa? Hard to turn your geriatric head…neck too stiff? Got a few vertebrae fused? You should probably be driving a Prius. Plenty of visibility…seat massages those hemorrhoids…blood pressure pill monitor. Let’s you know when the next Gunsmoke airs.
Camaro takes it easily for me just off of interior alone. I love stuff like the ambient lighting and look of the screens and everything. Not to mention fords top end sound system is mid at best while the Chevy bose sound system is out of this world. Driving wise between the 2 it just comes down to personal preference really
@@jakeballard7999 sounds neat I’ll have to find someone who has that and listen! Honestly the new Corvette C8 was my first experience with the Bose and it just knocked the ford I had out of the water😂
I own a ZL1 with the Bose and I completely disagree about it being out of this world. It’s very average. I had a RS3 with the B&O system, that thing was easily 3x better than the Camaro Bose
@@digitalgulby hmmm yeah I haven’t heard it in the ZL1, I’m just basing it off of my dads corvette c8 bose system I assume they’re the same. But compared to anything ford has it’s out of this world
That Shelby wasn’t even a track package and put it to you this was the previous gen Gt500 did a 7.39 on the Nurburgring and that’s with a manual and solid rear axle plus the gt500 has been faster than the camaro at VIR, Willow springs, laguna seca it’s over a 1 second a lap faster
Yeah, I wouldn’t compare those numbers when you don’t have a factory driver going 10/10 in the GT500. Go use Lightning Lap numbers if you want something closer to “real world” lap times. Granted, Lightning Lap used the GT500 with the $18,500 track package to beat the ZL1 1LE by a little.
@@The-fs5wn also, what lap times are you quoting? The fastest car in Lightning Lap history is 2:34.9. So I’m not sure where you are getting sub-2 minute lap times.
First of all, regular GT500 should be compared to a regular ZL1 (that has the same magnetic ride suspension as the GT500 so it’s more comfortable than the racing suspension in the 1LE ZL1). Visibility isn’t that much worse in the Camaro and you can get used to it. I agree the interior of the Camaro looks more modern but the Mustang has the big digital gauge cluster. Only Camaro offers HUD (standard on ZL1 just like the heated and cooled Recaro seats, unlike Mustang). The Mustang sounds much better, at least inside the car, with stock exhaust. I’ve had my ZL1 for over 2 years, and when I drove the GT500 for a day, the handling didn’t feel as good as the ZL1 but not far behind, so I disagree with you on GT500 feeling better than ZL1. And of course the extra power of the GT500 is awesome. Both are awesome cars!
I think this reaction video was really hurt by the specific ZL1 in this test. The Multimatic spool valve shocks and tire combo were not the best choice for the very tight and bouncy road he used. If he was on a much faster and smooth road with corners the ZL1 1LE would destroy the GT500 in corners. The grip difference between the ZL1 1LE and the base GT500 is massive. I’m also not sure if the Camaro in this test had the rear view mirror camera which I loved when I went out in a ZL1 1LE. I think only 2019 and newer cars have it? I honestly just can’t see spending the extra money on the GT500 over the ZL1. Yes the GT500 is slightly quicker (given similar options), but the GT500 is also $15-25K more depending on if you want a track pack car or not. If I wanted a Mustang it would be a used GT350 with an extended warranty, not the GT500.
@@GrimSRT8 agreed. It was a poorly done comparison. He probably only had those options. I love my ZL1 and have driven a GT500. Have you noticed the lag difference in the take off?
@@AnkhsZL1 can you clarify what you are asking about lag? Also, I have not driven a GT500, the closest thing I’ve driven is a GT350. If I was going to buy a Mustang it would be a pre-owned GT350 with an extended warranty, not a GT500.
Thats great! They are actually down the road from me.........I looked into them, but I chose to send my Shelby to Palm Beach Dyno in Florida! I am going all out with their CX1100R package which dynos out around 1070 to the rear.............I had to do it cause my son has a McLaren 765 LT and its an absolute beast.
Both cars are sweet but I ordered a 2023 rapid blue ZL1 non 1LE. I want the 6 speed manual and I don't plan to track the car. Just something for nice weather days.
Do you expect to get an allocation? I’d be nervous you might not get your car before they end production. I’m about a year out from buying my ZL1, and I’m thinking used will be the only option at that point. Good call on Rapid Blue, my Focus RS was a similar color. 👍
@@GrimSRT8 I talked to my dealership and they said they have allocations for 2023 Camaros. I hope they can get ZL1s. They got a few 2022 ZL1s. I already sold my 2022 1SS 1LE to make way for the ZL1. There's speculation that 2023 or 2024 will be the last year for the 6th gen Camaro. Heck yea I love rapid blue. My 2017 Mustang GT was grabber blue, same as your Focus RS.
@@GrimSRT8 Thanks hope you are able to get yours too! I'd try to order one about 6 months before you'd be ready to take delivery they may be taking orders still.
When I started looking into a retirement fun car, the Camaro was on my short list until I drove one. Just couldn’t get over the lack of visibility. There are a few great choices today. I went with the GT350 and haven’t looked back, tons of fun!
I used to fan boy Mustangs but after becoming a Valet and driving a Camaro, I just had to change my mind. Keep in mind, I used to LAUGH when I saw Chevy. Now I laugh at the Mustang interior and overall lack of quality and I can't believe that the Camaro doesn't sell that well despite being the best performer in its category.
@@danny-FL I here you man. Fords thought process, or lack there of about their interior is laughable in the Mustang line. I’ve put plenty of thought into having my interior completely re done. The problem is, every time I drive my GT350 I forget about the interior, it’s plenty comfortable. I also understand where the production money went in this car….not the interior.
@@user-qm9oo2fd2o I still enjoy the V8 engines from Ford in the Mustang, and some interior options like the gauge cluster and the Recaros are amazing, main issue is honestly just the plastics they used that cheapen everything up.
Did you try a Camaro with the rear view mirror camera? That thing is *slick*! Good call on the GT350 as long as you don’t have engine issues. Did you get one with the Predator block and hopefully an extended warranty? I *really* wanted a GT350, but I’m going to get the ZL1 now because I’m unhappy with how Ford is dealing with the Voodoo issues and other issues with their performance cars. I think I’d just be constantly worried with the GT350 and be checking my oil levels constantly and that just takes a lot of the fun out of it. I went through the head gasket issues on my Focus RS.
@@GrimSRT8 Didn’t know about the rear view camera. My concern was the blind spots. Do the cameras cover those? I have a 19 GT350 so it’s the Gen II motor (Predator block). Mine uses very little oil, about 1 1/2 quarts between changes at 5,000 miles. The car has been 100% for the last 10,000 miles. From all the research I did before buying, the whole motor thing has been a little exaggerated. Do they blow? Yes they do. Check out the Porsche forms. Believe me, when manufacturers push the envelope, things are going to happen. I have another year left on my warranty. Yes I plan to extend it.
They all got a bit better over the last 5-7 years. I'm a Chevy guy so I'll always root for the Camaro but it's competitors look a lot better nowadays. However, the Challenger and Rustang still look too fat for me 🤣
i own both a Camaro SS (supercharged) and Mustang Gt and i literally cant choose - both cars get some things wrong and then some things absolutely right - the decision was - buy both ;-)
As a casual track guy, the fuel limitations of the GT500 and no manual is a non-starter. on the track the trans doesn’t bother me but between track days the manual trans is just so much more fun. Not against the GT500, just not for me.
@@davidwade7681 ZL1’s out gun the mustank with its infamous short lifespan. Remove GM’s conservative tune and the ZL1 will perform faithfully. Since 2019 the GT’s 10R and tune finally made them quick, but now breakdown that much faster.

The Camaro looks cooler to me. Hard to pick though because the gt500 is a faster and louder sounding car.. if chevy had actually been smart and dropped the lt5 in it it would be a slam dunk to go with the zl1
Yeah very try but I think if they put an LT5, it would a lot more expensive. Probably just as much if not more than the GT500, since the LT5 is used in Corvettes if I’m not mistaken
@@aristokatz452 Yes the lt5 is from the corvette zr1. But I don't think it would be that much more expensive. They're sales are down alot and this would drive the sales up tremendously which would make up for it not being super more expensive. But even if it is the same price or a little bit more than the gt500 that would be okay because it would blow it out the water in performance. I mean from what we hear they're not continuing the camaro so why not send it off with on last hurray. I mean the lt4 and lt5 are super similar almost like this was the plan so R&D for sliding it into the zl1 would be almost non exist. I'm just surprised they haven't done it, its almost a no brainer.
@@Marcello2005 It's probably why they haven't but it's a pathetic cop out if you ask me. They allowed the 2017 zl1 to have more than the 2013 zr1. Especially considering everything we're hearing leans towards them not making any new models for the camaro. At first they didn't do it because the Corvette was always meant to be the fastest and what made it undoubtedly faster was it always atleast had more hp. But even if the Zl1 had 750 and the zo6 had 670 the c8 would dog walk the ZL1 regardless. But since they might be discontinuing it they're probably waiting until it's final year to drop the lt5 in it and make it a one year model like the 2019 zl1.
@@Killa_Kamz well the reason why the 2017 ZL1 had more horsepower than the 2013 ZR1 was because the C6 wasn’t the current corvette generation, which is why the ZL1 had the same amount of power as the C7 Z06 and less than the C7 ZR1. I do agree tho, but I think it’s just about chevys pride and reputation. Since most people who buy sports and super cars are mainly just wealthy people who know nothing about cars, they’ll probably think more HP equals faster. With that mindset, why pay for the supercar with less horsepower? (even if it’s faster) I know it sucks and it’s a missed opportunity, but it’s probably just because of consumers
yeah tough choice but it all comes down to preference, for me personally the camaro takes the w bcos of the wing and the front canards they look alot like smth ive seen from victorracing and ik they help massively with speed and control
I would like a video of your dad driving and giving his honest opinion on the GT 500. Would be an interesting watch given his long history with Ford cars.
I've owned both and am presently on my 2nd GT500. (No Flex). On my channel. I'd go Shelby over the Camaro, but that's because I mod and the Shelby turned out 1000 hp for just $10k so. It's a roll race beast.
The 0-60 times on the GT500 varies depending on how it’s optioned. Ford performance states the fastest version of the 2020+ GT500 0-60 is the base model without the handling package. The fastest version of the GT500 on a track is the CFTP version.
My personal opinion, since camaro prices are basically the same as used corvette prices. Why jump into a camaro when you can get a corvette. Once camaros got over 50k it doesn't make sense to get one. Where's the mustang doesn't really have any in house competition besides the ford gt and that goes for 3-500k. So ford can get away with charging more for the mustang. Rumors of ford bringing back a 2 seater named the thunderbird and going after corvettes are out there. And if so the mustang will have to get priced accordingly or it's sales will get hurt.
If you had to choose between Chevy 'sports cars' why would you choose the butt ugly Camaro over the gorgeous C8 Corvette, is there really a choice? Chevy screwed themselves on that one.
@Faze King123 hey to each their own. But honesty, no mustang sounds better than a straight piped LS. Sorry about ya. Them 5.0s are high pitched and bubbly.
@@camonly849I’m guessing you haven’t heard a 351 Cleveland or a GT350 with an American Racing kit. Plus the LS7 doesn’t really sound good unless you modify it.
@The-fs5wn because they muffled the piss out of the ls7, the newer LTs are much louder. That has nothing to do with what engine sounds better and everything to do with restrictions or whatever exhaust that manufacturer decided to use. Give the best exhaust set up for each to make it fair, ls7 or ls9 sounds the best to me. Especially when you add a cam. Gt350 sounds good, no doubt. But a 427 or 454 revving to 8600 sounds better and actually makes power. 351 sounds great. But I'm stuck on LS.
@@camonly849 if you are going to go with a 427, go listen to an SOHC. Sounds better than any V8 out there. Forgot to mention it because they made so few of them. Plus, they make 740 hp on a dyno when restored to new, if you get the dual carb version. To me the LS sounds like a slightly deeper V6.
DCT shifts faster than the average eye blink. It also holds the power as it shifts. It also predicts which gear is needed both through the turn and exiting as well. Manuals are more engaging but this DCT ain't no regular automatic transmission.

At 03:52 it is reported the GT500 does not have cooled seats. If a person has a GT500 with the Recaro seats, that is correct. But, for folks (like me) who wanted heated and cooled seats, the seats that come in the GT500 without the Recaro option are well made, very comfortable, and they are both heated and cooled. They are also power adjustable, whereas the Recaros are manually adjusted. I went to the Ford/Shelby Track Attack event in Charlotte Motor Speedway. The GT500s there were non-CFTP, but had the optional Recaro seats. So, I got to see how they felt compared to our 2020 GT500 non-CFTP factory seats. The recaro seats were nice, but the non-Recaro seats are more comfortable, and hug me just fine - plus offer cooling or heating. Not to get too far ahead of myself, or this fine video (which ROCKS), the only reason our 1969 Shelby GT500 is more favored than the 2020 GT500 is for nostalgic purposes. I lusted for a 1969 GT500 for years, and finally acquired a really nice one with Candyapple Red exterior and factory A/C. It is an awesome cruising machine, with lots of 428CJ growl. The 2020 clearly handles better, and is far faster than an already plenty fast 1969 variant. If I had never found our 1969 GT500, this 2020 GT500 would be my all time favorite car I have ever driven, much less owned. Everything legendary you have heard about it is true.
If you're going to do a comparison between a ZL1 1LE and a Shelby GT500, wouldn't it be a good idea to have GT500 with the Carbon Fiber track package to do a proper review of the 2 going thru all those turns. Other then that, a great review of both cars.
100% correct. This was a mis-matched comparison. Though I’d say the better comparison on the street would be the basic ZL1 and the GT500 in the test. The ZL1 1LE is a laser focused car, and it’s not a fit for 99.9% of buyers. It really needs to be in a track test.
Car and Driver did that. The GT500 demolished the ZL1 in every aspect, but they gave the win to the ZL1 for being much cheaper. 4 second difference on a 2 minute course is huge, and on a drag strip, over half a second separates them. The transmission on the GT500 is also the best they had ever tested, including the PDK, and it put down a quarter mile time on par with a Model S P100D. 10.7 seconds vs 11.4, and they described the Predator motor as having power delivery on par with an EV.

Back in the day, car enthusiasts paid extra to get cars chopped and channeled.
This is factory stock.

If I end up needing track seats I'll buy some that fit me correctly and mount them lower than the oem recaros, which dont sit low enough for my taste and pinch the hips.
So the heated/cooled GT500 seats sit lower than the GT500 Recaro seats? I hate sitting up high. Man, I wish they offered the cooled seats in the CFTP.
@@robertmueller1406 no, what i was saying was I optioned for the standard heated and cooled seats which are also power.

Agreed fellow ZL1 owner

I mean from what we hear they're not continuing the camaro so why not send it off with on last hurray. @@Killa_Kamz they probably wouldn’t put the LT5 in since they wouldn’t give it more power than their supercar, the new Z06 (670 hp)

Nice
i feel that new mustang s650 is going to have one INSANE interior upgrade
Other than two iPads on the dash not really😕
The 0-60 times on the GT500 varies depending on how it’s optioned. Ford performance states the fastest version of the 2020+ GT500 0-60 is the base model without the handling package. The fastest version of the GT500 on a track is the CFTP version.
The Camaro is a fantastic car! No idea why it doesn't sell better.
I didn’t really know too much about the zl1 until after I bought both my gt500 and hellcat RE…I think it has something to do with marketing.
Because they absolutely suck for everything that isn’t a track drive.

Too bad they are automatic. I have the 21 SS 1LE with a 6 speed and it is a blast. Automatic may be a little quicker, but a lot more boring..
DCT shifts faster than the average eye blink. It also holds the power as it shifts. It also predicts which gear is needed both through the turn and exiting as well. Manuals are more engaging but this DCT ain't no regular automatic transmission.
I have the 2020 LT1 with the 6 speed tr6060 manual like you. I have my car down an extra 200lbs in weight and it was already the lightest of the v8 camaro models. Mother fukker vrooms!!! What tires you running on your camaro and do you track it at all?
you cant be more WRONG
A track focused car (ZL1 1LE) vs a Non track focused car (GT500 HANDLING package) really wish you would have got the track pack GT500 or just a standard ZL1 for the comparison.
Cope. 650 hp and much cheaper and still better
The GT500 is a GREAT car yet cant find one without a $20-$25K Dealer mark up and that was a Deal breaker for me - You can Easy get a ZL1 at MSRP - I purchased my 2021 ZLE January 2021 and at the time Every GT500 I saw was $125K - -- - $75K vs $125 - it was a no brainer for me
Hands down the Camaro ZL1 is a better looking car than the GT500. Both cars have something that both need from each other. In my opinion the ZL1 just needs to be louder but aside from that it’s perfect just the way it is
Love that combo 🔥🔥
I love both honestly but I gotta go with the GT500
Roadcourse track times there is a clear winner, see C&D Lightning Lap Every Car
Shelby is faster in a straight line but it will never compete with the ZL1 on the track and it’s that simple
bro what lmao the shelby is a track killer where the zl1 is just a monster😂
The Shelby was faster around Laguna seca and willow springs than the ZL1..
@@yusufgta4341 up the power on the zl1 to match it and the gt500 will lose on every single track...
Most people who buy these cars will never go to a track lol.
@@lonzo9888 zl1 1le is a bit faster on the track. Gt500 all the way on straight line for sure 🔥. I owned a 2020 gt500 and now a zl1 1le. Which do you own?
Has everyone forgotten about the c7 z06? Ive seen it go faster than that 1le on a lot of tracks
1le all day, rather have track speed than highway speed
Gt500s runs better track time
The front end, carbon fiber hood scoop and the far superior interior made the Zl1 the easy choice for me.
If you want a manual, go for the Shelby GT350! ;)
But…why?
GT350 over the zl1 1le?? I think all car fans would choose the zl1
@@Killa_Kamz not necessarily over the 1le, just as a manual modern Mustang (over the GT500). I am a car fan for about 40 years, so if you want my personal opinion regarding modern muscle cars: I'd take the Challenger as a grand tourer and for the track a GT350 (I'm not saying the 1LE is bad)
@@Killa_Kamz actually there's a conversation to be had there. they're priced similarly and they weight closer to one another as well. The ZL1 1LE and GT350 do better on tracks with less straights to maximize power (obviously the GT500 LOVES straights 760HP) so yeah they're actually pretty comparable.
@@Dragonlord826 I wasn't talking about comparability, I know they're comparable. I meant outside of clear ford and chevy fans 9 out of 10 would choose the zl1 1le over the gt350. I'm a challenger fan so but I'd take the zl1 1le no hesitation.
I can def tell your preference with the Camaro but both are truly amazing
When I was looking to buying a new car I looked at both the gt500 and the Zl1 I liked the Zl1 better it handled better and looks better
So I ended up getting a red hot 2021 Zl1 with the 10 speed auto
I have a black manual one. Best car for the money. 👍🏼👍🏼
Good choice. I got the 6 speed
I have the 10 Speed also - its ALWAYS in the right gear - put in track mode and it drives like 6 speed
Yeah I want a Red Hot ZL1 1LE
Great review….I own the flipped version - CFTP with GT500 and ZL1 on the Camaro side!
You own both? That rules! 🤘
@@GrimSRT8 yes buddy- even started a channel :)
I'm always go with the mustang GT500 all day because I drove a standard GT with that kind of saying suspension I can imagine what it drives like
I will have the 1le for sure with a manual
They do a manual?
@@darthvaper6745 in 2018 when they came out they only came in manuel
Nice to see someone actually capture exhaust noise on video...Soooo hard to do
ZL11LE because you can get it with a 6-Speed.
It’s IMPOSSIBLE to find a GT500 under $90,000 in 2022, while you can get a ZL1 for less than $70,000.
I mean in that aspect it's a 75-80k car vs a 120k
@@GrimSRT8 agree with you on that. Both cars have to be the base cars, not one of them being the track car and the other one not.
@@zachwilson7061 exactly the GT500 is in Z06 C8 price as is
Car and Driver did that.
I would say the c7 ZR1 is more badass than the gt500 but nice review!
The only reason why I like Ford Mustang Shelby is that it's the only truly American Muscle cuz it doesn't have moonroof.....
That's just me.
I’m a WAY bigger fan of the Camaro over the Mustang… i think the Mustang sound wrong..
How? It has the same 5.2L V8 has the 350R that's why it sounds like that. It's a cross plane V8 tho
You should get your ears checked. Nothing sounds as good as a Ford V8.
@@yusufgta4341 exactly!!! Sounds terrible 🤮
@@jasonlommen4769 am I not aloud to have an opinion? I think fingernails on a chalkboard sounds better. Never been a Ford fan and never will be:)
@@DefinitelyNotYouThankGod
Of course! But saying a car sounds bad because you don’t like it, is purely subjective. That’s like me saying Michael Jordan was a lousy ball player, simply because I don’t like him.
The maro is the best at turning and over all way better than the GT500 the only thing the GT500 is good for is roll’s possibly digs
You did a nice job. Gave both cars a fair shake
GT500 all day. I'm actually wanting the new Z. it's more in my price range. For the money it's the fastest Car out there.
The new Z will be interesting for sure, but I doubt it's going to outrun either 10-speed version of the Mustang, or the Camaro or the new Scat Pack R/T's for that matter. It has yet to be determined if its got what it takes to take down the new Supra as well. That said...it's good to see Nissan building performance cars again.
@@alfrede.neuman8611 the new Z won’t outrun a $45K Camaro SS 1LE. If you want the best bang for your buck, the 1SS 1LE is the way to go. The base Z is slightly less money, but I wouldn’t buy the Z without the performance option.
@@GrimSRT8 best bang for your buck is the Camaro LT1. Same motor and you can spec it with the 10 speed auto if ya want. Same power but anywhere from 300-500lbs less depending on what you options you get. Without the magni-ride suspension and Recaro heated seats the camaro LT1 is the lightest and cheapest of the big three's muscle cars.
The new z is definitely badass and I would love to have one but it's straight line speed isn't much to brag about. 400hp and weighs almost as much as a non LT1 camaro or mustang. The z has less hp and nearly the same weight. Still will be a badass car though
@@DoWorkNP If I was in the market for one of the big 3, the Mustang would get my money. That Coyote is just something else...and with some tinkering and boost, is nothing short of weapons grade plutonium.
The Camaro is a bargain compared to the GT500, and that is coming from a Ford guy. Big price difference.
Both awesome cars !! But I like the Zl1 better!
That Mustang exhaust sound is just SO much better.
thank you.... i love your channel.... i think the gt500 is better.. but i have that black camaro.. not that one.. but one in manual 6 speed.. and for that driving.. would of made you sway that opinion.. nothing like heading into an uphill and that sweet shift into 2nd
In my opinion the mustang is better in terms of looks, performance, and aftermarket support but I still love the Camaro.
Really, you think the GT500 will have more aftermarket support? I’d be surprised. Maybe it will get more support if they do indeed put the Predator in the Raptor, but otherwise I can’t see much of an aftermarket for an engine produced in very small numbers. And maybe I’m in the minority, but I think the front end of the GT500 is really ugly. And this is coming from a “Ford guy”.
@@GrimSRT8 ur alone on thinking the front end is ugly and yes the predator engine responds better to mods you can make 1000whp with like three bolt ons and e85 and like 900 whp on pump gas
@@MikeyFNBR that’s cool on the styling. I think the GT350 looks incredible, but the GT500 is pretty ugly. What companies are putting out these 1,000 hp Predators? Hopefully not Hennessey or some crap company like them.
The GT350R is the car I wanted to buy, but engine reliability issues are too concerning for me on a car that costs $100K used. The ZL1 1LE is the next best thing for me and my priorities.
@@MikeyFNBR He didn't say anything about which engine responds better to mods, he said aftermarket support. I do agree with you however...the GT500 has a great front end.
@@GrimSRT8 it’s only the early gt350s that are unreliable the later gt350s “gen 2 voodoo” is what most people refer to it as is reliable as long as you change the oil frequently like every 3k miles. ruclips.net/video/wWhgPoAyv0g/видео.html in this video with a injectors, lower pulley, upper pulley, e85, and cold air intake the gt500 made 930whp not 1000whp but still very impressive nonetheless. If they put an even smaller upper pulley and an even bigger lower pulley they would have made 1000whp +. You don’t need an aftermarket company to do it for you none of these mods are complicated it’s not like ur tearing apart the motor and I agree Hennessy is shit .
for the difference in power the camaro is a beast. a tiny bit slower then the ford but such a nice platform to start with.
This was amazing, Parker! MI here! Love both cars, a little bias for the Camaro, just remember Chevy doesn't give it all bc of the Vette ;)
This is one of the rare cases where the Camaro drives better than the Vette- if you’re comparing the ZL1 and C7Z.
I’d pick the gt500 no question over the 1le
