To be fair, waiting after the comet basically amountd to taunting your stalker into burning your house down so you can catch them... after your house has burned down.
The Fire Nation wiped out the Air Nomads and was taking on both the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom at the same time. They had the tactical and numerical advantage. Waiting for Sozin's Comet to pass would be foolish because it would be giving the Fire Nation carte blanche to attack and destroy. Imagine what a Sozin's Comet empowered army of Fire benders could do in a day of mass guerilla tactic attacks across the whole Earth Kingdom, raining down fiery destruction and devastation from the airships down on to the Earth Kingdom who have no anti air defenses. A massive shock and awe campaign over a single day where every Firebender is supercharged and stronger than ever would be utterly devastating and would sufficiently soften the defenses and attack capabilities of the Earth Kingdom to the point where the Fire Nation could pick off each city at their leisure in the day following Sozin's Comet. 0:42 Excellent points, Sokka. I know its a heretical belief within the Avatar fandom but I don't like the Final Agni Kai, because in the grand scheme of things, Azula is already defeated and two of the power houses of team Avatar are absent from the decisive battle, sure Sokka, Suki and Toph did a great job of saving the Earth Kingdom but I imagine it could have been easier with a flying bison, a water bending master and a comet enhanced fire bender, and after all that was wrapped up, what was Azula going to do when Aang and the rest of the Gaang rolled up on her with her father's head on a platter?
I always thought it weird that Iroh wouldn't face his brother because he was worried history would see one brother defeating another to gain power, but was perfectly fine with sending Zuko to do that very thing! like, what gives!?

@@josiahdsmith5641 Yeah but that line specifically is weirdly bloodthirsty for Iroh. I get that the weirdness is for humour and emphasise that Azula is basically the only person Iroh is ok with taking out now he's a man of peace or that he trusts Zuko to not kill her, but still a very "wait, what?" moment.
I think it was ok because she wasn’t actually the leader anymore. Having someone else defeat the Fire Lord who isn’t a Fire nation member would make them feel like they aren’t worthy of leading themselves, which might lead to colonialism in the other direction. Having one of their own take them down helps establish peace without destroying the established nations more.
To be fair, Azula's Fire Lord position was worthless while Ozai was the Phoenix King, this was one of the reasons she went nuts, IIRC. Being told by your father that your new position is utterly useless and will be challenged by anyone while he's off having a grand time as the Phoenix King brought the paranoia to the max. By the time Zuko challenged her, it was less taking power and more stopping the 2nd-in-command. Also, they didn't know Ozai would give her the position at the time of the planning.

And later challenging his own son , caring him and exiling him through Agnikai Afterwards Tyrant Zuko killed his own sister to ensure that once the Phonix King fall he would be unopposed on his way for the throne

The ending really had a lot of problems looking back😅 -The plan to burn down an entire continent within the few minutes a comet flies overhead -Iroh sending Zuko to fight his sister for the throne because he can’t fight his brother for the throne -Aang suddenly deciding he can’t kill the firelord, one of the worst people in the entire world, because he "never kills" despite having killed several soldiers before without remorse -Energybending being deus ex machinad into the story to get around the problem they just wrote in for this arc The visuals were great, the fights emotional and having many great payoffs but just because we like something doesn't mean we can't acknowledge it's flaws.
Agree to disagree, there are reasons for each of those, but whether you agree with the reasoning is up to you. Burn down continent: They had already taken over a solid portion of the earth kingdom, so they only really needed to burn down some of the sections that they hadn't conquered yet and/or burn their resources to cripple the earth kingdom. Iroh and Zuko: I answered this more thoroughly under another comment on this video, but the short form is that Iroh had never tried to take power the entire time Ozai was ruling, whereas Azula is not yet crowned, and as long as Ozai is around the fire lord position basically means nothing because there's a Phoenix King. Once Ozai is taken out of the picture, then the fire lord position matters again and so if Zuko is crowned he can lead the nation towards peace. But with all the propaganda and focus on Ozai, he needs to be defeated by a neutral party otherwise the fire nation may revolt over the change in rule. That sort of disruption is less likely to happen over one heir being crowned instead of another, the general public likely won't even know that the two heirs fought each other. No Kill Rule: The no kill rule wasn't invented at the end, Aang has been like that all along. He's constantly pulling his punches and purposely fighting in as non-lethal ways as he can (aside from when the Avatar state takes over, but that's not fully him). Is there a chance that some soldiers could have died as a result of his actions? Possibly, though we never see that conclusively. Either way, there's a big difference internally between your actions in a chaotic battlefield causing death without you directly giving the killing blow, and basically being told to assassinate someone. In a battle he's trying to protect his allies and repel a threat, but in this case he's being told that he has to actively, intentionally murder someone, and the closest he ever got to that in the series was the vulture-wasp at his darkest moment. Energybending: While it did come out of nowhere, the lion-turtles were foreshadowed, and it additionally serves to answer the question of 'what was there before element bending?' and as such adds more world-building. Would've been nice if they followed up on that concept and gave us more lore, but they dropped the ball on that even when they gave us a flashback in Korra.
@@metacat3106The No Kill Rule: Someone said it like this. The only thing you need to pull apart this argument is simply show Aang in action while suggesting that his victims survived. Then, on the off-chance that Aang's enemies DID survive, tell them that their survival had ANYTHING to do with any conscious effort on Aang's part. There's also the fact that NONE of this managed to come up as an issue for Aang during the day of the Black Sun where Aang would have been going up against a man that couldn't even defend himself. Energybending: We can pretend that the Lion Turtle was properly foreshadowed all we like, Energybending wasn't. It remains a get out of jail free card.
@@eddytennyson9546 Energybending I'm not really gonna argue, it's something people either like or don't, it's the most divisive part of the conclusion. The No Kill Rule: We have different takes on the action sequences, so unless you give some more specific examples, then we aren't really debating anything, just disagreeing. The main squad in general tend to go with knocking enemies out or immobilizing/disarming them, it's only when they're in the thick of war that they make some more desperate/dangerous actions because they're trying to not die. As for the invasion, at that point Aang wasn't tasked with *killing* the fire lord, the message had always been 'defeat the fire lord' by that point. As an idealist he likely thought that just defeating him would be enough, especially since their army is defeating the fire nation army. It was only later on that his friends push on him that he needs to kill the fire lord, and that's where he has the conflict. Because he has never fought with the intention to kill, he's always been trying to protect himself or others.
@@metacat3106 So while cartoons never really take it seriously, blunt force trauma kills just as easily as cutting does. The show kinda acts like death is only on the table when someone has a sword or bending going on. Truthfully even a really hard punch to the head can kill. Ang and the crew clobber people completely. I think you are right that the show wants people to think there's no killing, but it suffers the same thing Batman does. Crazy violence that would kill but laugh it off like it doesn't.
@@metacat3106 As a quick aside, there is NO WAY to knock somebody out with blunt force trauma that doesn't carry a MASSIVE risk of death. Media popularize it, but if you hit someone and they KO, call EMTs.

The AI voices aren't bad either, great job with this! 😁👌🏼
He's referring to the White Lotus' attack on Ba Sing Se. Which he's completely right about, attacking during the comet just greatly increases the risk of civilians being caught in the very literal line of fire and only serves as a means for Iroh to fulfill his childhood power fantasy dream about conquering Ba Sing Se. Even if they had some actual strategic reason(none is given in the show, the only reason Iroh gives is claiming it's his destiny.), like being concerned that the troops stationed there would refuse to acknowledge Zuko's rule and hold the citizens hostage, there would be absolutely no reason to not wait to attack until the comet is ending and have Iroh blast down the wall in the last few minutes of the comet. Not only does this reduce the amount of collateral damage the attack would inevitably cause, it means they just straight up have a better chance of winning since the non-firebending white lotus members wouldn't be at a disadvantage.

I think comparing Zuko and Azula's situation to Iroh and Ozai is fair to an extent, but a banished prince returning and engaging in an honorable duel with his warmongering sister to take the throne before ushering in a regime change and a time of peace isn't the most implausible thing, whereas Iron is still regarded as the man who failed to take Ba Sing Se.
Basically, Iroh would be a pretender taking the throne through a coup, whereas Zuko is a legitimate transfer of power from father to son.
People forget Iroh gives Zuko's lineage as the descendant of both Roku and Sozin a lot of importance. The royal family's (and the nation's as a whole) fall into cruelty began with those two and must end with their shared descendant correcting the course of the Fire Nation.
Am I the only one who loves watching everyone put words in Zuko’s mouth?
story of his life:
A child neglected and even hated by his father, telling the previous king how useless he is.
A compasionate kid challenged to a lethal public duel by his father for a slip of the mouth to teach him a lesson on "respect".
A vanished prince stepped on by a general who tried to claim the victory of the kid as his own like a vulture.
A refugee who found peace now asaulted by his psycho sister and forced again into action
A "hero" under the false pretence of having destroyed the only enemy of the fire nation.
Everyone made decisions for him until he decided to help the Avatar. This video puts him into a comical situation based on his tragedy, what makes it even funnier is that Katara, the heart of the group, is even more bloodthristy than the villain and just wont let Zuko make use of reason.
So yeah, Sokka's suggestion was well intentioned but wrong.

I love Toff being fully aware of the situation but gleefully going along with things. Very her.
Did Azula hit her head or something?
No, she's just crazy and she needs to go down.
She fell down some stairs
@@maux9175 This explains everything.
I heard Zuko would concuss Azula with turtle-ducks when they were children. He would yell "Spark" when he did it.
That's why Ursa filed for divorce.

Karata gas lighting Zuko to kill Azula is crazy
I always thought it weird that Iroh wouldn't face his brother because he was worried history would see one brother defeating another to gain power, but was perfectly fine with sending Zuko to do that very thing! like, what gives!?
Your Avatar videos feel like a funny and more entertaining version of my 30 minute break down of the problems with the finale. And probably longer when put together.
Nice ad bro.
Bloodthirsty Katara has a... certain charm to her.

Katara being scarier than Zuko is beautiful
Iroh is such a hypocrite.
For the Greater Good
My favourite part is the line "no, she's crazy and has to go down" is literally a quote from the show.
welcome to neoliberal writing. Bryke is proudly following in the George Lucas tradition of being unable to imagine a world better than America and all its propaganda.
the fact that this counts as 'left leaning' by today's political climate is disgusting.
@@PlebNC I believe all Iroh’s lines are straight from the show, which I really respect Seals for doing. It would feel cheap to use an AI to replicate the legend that is Uncle Iroh
The fact that everybody talks for Zuko and he can't get a single sentence out. Also, that Star Wars quote. Dang.
Zuko is truly unhinged... i fear for the Fire Nation under his brutal rule
Oh yeah...I didnt think about that ...but Zuke fighting azula while satisfying contradicts the message
@@darkueki I KNOW but story could have really easy considered Zuko as a really shady figure
The Tyrant Zuko after Taking Bazing Se with his Sister Princes Azula, Defected to the Avatars side when he discovered Fire Lords Ozai Plans to Avandon the Titke of Fire Lord for the Title of "Phenix King" , making the Fire Lord a Pupet figure and cutting the line of succession, likely ensuring that Tyrant Zukoi would never known real power
Historians assume this due to the Aparent heatred Ozai had for Zuko accepting to execute Him before the tragic passing of Fire Lord Azulon who asked for it. And later challenging his own son , caring him and exiling him through Agnikai
Afterwards Tyrant Zuko killed his own sister to ensure that once the Phonix King fall he would be unopposed on his way for the throne
Poor Zuko, no one seems to understand what he's saying.
The funny thing is: This makes Azula comes off as completely reasonable person with a conscious that sadly takes after her dad's inability to think outside of her objectives.
2:22 I guess the Fire Nation _is_ basically Mustafar, from a certain point of view
So if zuko wrote a firebending thesis, azula and katana would just twist it to be some sort of argument for hyper violence.
Nice job using the original Iroh lines!!
Hey, when you do the fight itself please have someone refer to Azula's lightning bending as "Lightning Finggies" in reference to Anakin calling Force Lightning that. Maybe have a single frame as it's being said that's literally the frame of Anakin saying it.

Waterbending is about balance, and Katara was balancing out ways to murder Azula.
0:15 Zuko: I remember you Wuz conflicted
five seconds in and i am already blown away with that Zuko impression holy damn
Im loving the saga of Zuko's thoughts just bwing read out loud
The ending really had a lot of problems looking back😅
-The plan to burn down an entire continent within the few minutes a comet flies overhead
-Iroh sending Zuko to fight his sister for the throne because he can’t fight his brother for the throne
-Aang suddenly deciding he can’t kill the firelord, one of the worst people in the entire world, because he "never kills" despite having killed several soldiers before without remorse
-Energybending being deus ex machinad into the story to get around the problem they just wrote in for this arc
The visuals were great, the fights emotional and having many great payoffs but just because we like something doesn't mean we can't acknowledge it's flaws.
This one made me laugh out loud multiple times, nice work! Very impressed with the AI voices, they sound spot on.

0:48 but if they attack after the comet passes, EVERYONE IN THE EARTH KINGDOM WILL BE DEAD!!!!!
The amount of times I had to pause this and slow down speed
