Another practicle informattve class I've had two Domke F2 bags have one left in pristine codition. I also used a Tenba. I learned a costly lesson about going on the cheap. I used an Army surplus gas mask bag. I had a non AI 200mm Nikkoe lens fall out of it on a hard floor, It got repaired. I sold it to a good friend he damaged it. It got to be known as the hard luck 200, Keep those classes coming!
Back in my "wedding" days I used a Galen Rowell (by Photoflex) shoulder bag with waist belt and Rowell fanny/waist bag. I loved the design of those bags and sadly they're hard to find now a days. Now I'm using Lowepro sling bags and cutting down on the amount of equipment I take. It's just a hobby now so I try to decide before I go out what I'm going to shoot. It never fails, if I take macro gear I'll see a beautiful bald eagle. If I take long glass to photograph wildlife I need and extreme wide angle! :)
Since the 80's it's been Domke all the way! They just feel like an old friend hanging from my shoulder. But I am going to try the FRTKK bag. Thanks again for the recommendation!
A Carhart fanny pack/large works well for short trips. The belt can be expanded to go over shouider and rides either in front or pushed toward back. You can fit a Canon 6dII with 40mm pancake lens without any trouble. I generally put my Fuji X100s in the main pocket. A gr3 or any small camera will fit in second pocket as well. Comes in two colore, camel and blue. New around 30.00. May find used cheaper.
My all time favourite: Lowepro Passport Sling, crossbody, so no sticky fingers getting easy access to my gear I can have it with or without the protective insert (Mostly without) it's roomy sometimes it ends up a mix of camera gear, sweet rappers and dog poo collection bags (unused I hasten to add) but hey it's done NYC, DC and many a day here with me in Scotland, I think my next upgrade might have to be an old Mule like Ansel Adams, problem is I'm gonna need bigger poop bags lol.

Good ideas. I especially liked the back zipper security bag suggestion for working crowds.
Glad you liked the security bag tip!

It sounds like you've had some interesting adventures with that 200mm lens that keeps hurting itself.
I agree that canvas is the best. Any time I bought something else I regrated it.
The canvas bag is a true photojournalist companion...I never Rember to spray on water repellent every 6 months :0

I’m always looking for new and different camera bags, the Rowell ones are quite unique!
