Just acquired one of these beasts. Your review is posted JUST before I have started to use it. No longer worried about my purchase! All the other deer make fun of poor old #137
I bought my Nikon D2x last year for just £180 (UK).. I love using it and it still has that harcore professional presence... I used it very effectivley only a few days ago at a motorcycle trials event to capture some great images... my other Nikon's are the N2020 and the superb F4.
@@CarmineTavernaPhotography Hi Carmine, I also have a F2 Photomic, N90, F5, D100, and a D7200 to round out my collection. I have been a Nikon shooter for over 50 years.
I have a D200 and love it. I have a D300 and love it. I have a D300s converted to IR and I sort of love it. I have a D750, D700, Z6 and these Nikon Film Cameras F, F2,F3,F4,F5, FM, FM2, FE, I do not, however, have the D2x...yet. If Ebay is open after I watch this review, who knows? Love your channel.

I would love to own a D2X for the collection. I have a D3S with some great F.Mount glass. When I look at pictures taken 10 years ago I realise that these Pro Nikons are amazing machines even compared to current full frame cameras.
The D600 has better image quality than any of Nikon's professional cameras like the $6,000 D4, and the D600 is the smallest and lightest full-frame digital camera :)
I’m thinking very seriously on getting a D2X. I wasn’t fully aware of the D2X until recently. Your information on this camera has helped me make up my mind, and will order one this week. My favorite Nikons; I shoot Primarily Nikon and also Pentax, but my go to Cameras are: Nikon D3, D700, D610, D7200, and Pentax K3 depending on the situation. Pentax has a great water/dust sealed system to keep out environmental issues for I believe most, if not all of their DSLR camera bodies and a whole bunch of gasket lenses to go with them. Another excellent class sir. You are the best!
I didn't have the D2x but I did purchase the D1x in 2000. I put a 17-35 f/2.8 Lens on it and shot weddings all year long with it. I even have the Book by Moose Peterson "D1 Generation" Signed by the man himself. The D1x was $5000 when I bought it new also in 2000
proud ex-owner here, D2Xs was better though, kept it till 2019 as a nostalgia backup, I remember shooting in the pouring rain at London 2012 Olympics with it, although I was already using regularly D3x, D3s combo, I wanted the extra reach and it made sense to use the D2Xs as sacrificial under the rain, it did survive and the bike manufacturer was super happy of the pics.
You are among a handful of photographers worldwide who can say they took photos at the Olympics .. The official motto for the 2012 Summer Olympics is "Inspire a generation".
@ I was lucky, I had previously worked with the main sponsor for team and I got introduced to the bikes manufacturer, instead of going through the mafia like Sky Sports channels I took advantage of knowing the track routes and advantage points along it.

"The Nikon D2X May be the only camera a professional photographer will ever need" wrote American Photo in 2005. Yes, I still have one - always use it with a 16 GB card. By the way, the camera was the star in a episode of "Midsomer Murders" - fun to watch 😊
Have and use a D2xs and still love it. The rear LCD has fogged up but hey, I grew up on Nikon FM2’s, F3’s (still have 2)and Olympus OM1’s with no rear LCD’s so I’m good!
Maybe my favorite camera to use. Very fast reacting camera with all of the controls in all the right places. When you go to shoot, it's always ready. AF may not have the bells and whistles of some modern cameras, but it's accurate and super fast (and it drives the old AF lenses very fast in comparison to other bodies I've used). Images are just outstanding and I'm always amazed by the color and rendering of the images I take with it. Only real drawback is limited ISO. limited to Auto ISO up to 800, and even that can have quite a bit of noise, but even then a big number of my favorite pictures have been taken with a D2Xs Another huge advantage for the D2X/D2Xs is that they use the unmodified TC-16a teleconverters seamlessly. The TC-16a will give a photographer the last bit of Autofocus for old AI/AI-S lenses, allowing someone to use some old pro lenses at a huge discount in cost. I use the old AI-S 300mm f/2.8 and 400mm f/3.5 lenses with it for wildlife and they work perfectly for birds and wildlife (you have to focus to get it close and the Autofocus does the rest)
Hi Carmine. Yes I still use it professionally when the job spec calls for it, also pushed its dynamic range to its Maximum ISO which is H2 equivalent to 3200. To me it renders a film like look to it and I find it useful in many types of job assignments that I have used it in📸
I bought the D1X, D100 and the Fuji S-3 Pro new when they came out. Sadly the D1X died years ago but the other two are still operational. Recently getting back into photography after about a fifteen year absence I currently shoot with the D700, D7100, D7200 and a D200. I also have a D200 in 590nm infrared and a D5100 in 720nm. Photography is now a hobby and not a "part-time profession" as it was years ago so I don't need the latest and greatest equipment.
Have a D2X I bought second hand some years ago to do childrens sports. Sadly battery is nearly end of life and only gives about 100 shots, not sure if I want to buy a new one.
Have used Niikon film and digital for 30+ years Here they are and what I think of them Film: F3 great and still have F5 the best pro film SLR ever made by anyone.(F6 added nothing useful to me and was not as heavily built) Still use now and again. Digital: D`00 rubbish and scanned film had better resolution sold fast! D200 better but not good sold D300 very good and still use D700 superb and still use D3x my favourite a real pro camera. No video is no loss. D800 very good and still in use. Will I go mirrorless? No the cameras I have do everything I need. so no point.
That is a cool old camera. You really make photography expensive for me. Haha😂
Thank you David! Gear acquisition syndrome has only one prescription ...get another camera :)
From my collection for full frame canon and nikon, my favourite and remains to this day is the D200.
I purchased a D2X when first released then regrettably sold it several years ago. I've since acquired a D2Xs in excellent condition and loving it.
I own a D2X I love it.

Funny thing, I was making a video that included my D2X, then I saw your video pop up. Good stuff Carmine!
