      Nowdays its usually Cydectin or Prohibit or a combination of 3 diff classes. I am in the deep south and thats what people are having to use. There is also a copper drench product (not the same as copper bolus) Linessa Farms has a video on that. I havent personally tried it yet. People in desert climates can still get away with Ivermectin or Safeguard. Best thing to do is to talk to your local goat vet or University Ag Dept. about what is working now. They know what works in your area because they are dealing with the local worms day in and day out lol. If you have a goat breeder in your immediate area, you could contact them as well. Otherwise its just trial and error lol. There are worm sensitivity tests that can also be ran etc.

      @@lotus.... Yes, in the video I mentioned reaching out to fellow goat breeders and I followed the same protocol one said worked for her in our area and after all that we I ran another fecal and it was worlds better. Ivermectin and safeguard wouldn't touch this yet I didn't want to use prohibit on our farm yet since this is the first time we have dealt with Barberpole. Her FAMACHA is watermelon color now I am just concerned about permanent gut damage and trying to get her weight back on.

    I’m sorry about your buckling but glad Irma is feeling so much better. I would love to hear what you did for the anemia.

    You may want to listen to "For the love of goats" podcasts about earning grants for fencing for rotational grazing. Who knew?!

      @hillvalleyfarm  10 месяцев назад

      Yes! We actually are working with the Soil Conservation folks and have a grant coming but the workers need paid now and the grant money doesn't come until after it's inspected so it's a great service but you do have to have money up front 😉
