The fake platypus water starter at 15:10 was made into a Temtem, after the creators bought the rights from the artist. So it DID become true, just in a different ip!
I got into Pokémon around the time XY and still remember so many of the rumors for a 3rd game and new Zygarde forms whether it be Pokémon Z, Pokémon X2 and Y2, Pokémon XZ and YZ. Also I completely forgot about Corocoro leaks after Gen 7
Litten and fennekin are so good, and their fan evolutions are so much better than their actual ones... It seems like they're trying to make characters, and not a believable species
I remember spending several hours in Viridian Forest during my Pokemon Blue days fighting 500 consecutive battles in order to encounter Pikablu also using Gameshark to get one that was just missingno
Unpopular opinion maybe but I genuinely love leaks, real or fake. A lot of the rumors are super interesting and creative and it's fun to wonder whether they're legit or not, and how they'd be implemented if true. Leak culture is often toxic because people take what they see as truth and act like they were gypped when it turns out to be fake, but once you learn to take everything with a grain of salt it becomes tons of fun. (Heck, finding out which ones are real or fake is half the experience lol). Plus it just makes for good memories. When you started talking about "Gen 6.5" and the SM starter leaks I got so giddy because I remember how excited I felt about all of them. The fact that they weren't real doesn't take away from that.
I started playing Pokemon after the first gen games were released so at a time when a lot of other kids around me were playing Pokemon too. However I've actually never heard about any of those rumours (or in fact any rumours at all) until many years later when I started to watch Poketubers or channels that focused on gaming mysteries and rumours or the like.
There was also a big leak before the Let’s Go games were announced that said the games would be set 100 years after the original Kanto games and that the region had been torn apart and completely new cities and areas had emerged. The leak also claimed that the legendaries would be a spider and a snake (or smth like that) and that there would be new starters and tons of other new Pokémon.
fun fact the design of the platypus in 15:13 was bought & used in a game called temtem its called platypet, evolves into platox, and finally into platimous
9:37 You can't ignore the fact that those leaks, despite fake, were pretty accurate to what the actual Pokémon turned out to be (looking at that Cofagrigus, Alomomola, Basculin, Drilbur, Pansage and Galvantula) as well as actually real Pokémon (Swanna, Deerling and Victini).
10:13 as someone who started with black 2 as my first ever game, I can say I am happy we got the origninal unova starters not the new ones, even though I really like the water platypus, and the owl looks like the took maractus, and tried to make rowlet 4 years before rowlet was a thing
wait your telling me that they aren't still making armored pokemon? my friend told me they where a looooong time ago. I just thought they where still making them. I wanted a armored mewtwo, like in the movie
The skitty one looks like it would be a prevo of Meowth tbh. Which, at this point, I don't think we really need more Meowth lol. But I would've been down for it 20 years ago.
My favourite rumours from when I was 8 years old playing pokemon blue and yellow were there was a rare water type charizard you could get, pikablue was a particular playground favourite. Lapras could evolve into lugia (the movie 2000 was out but I didn't have the game yet), a nugget could push your pokemon to level 150 if they were at 100. I miss the old days of little to no internet the pokemon rumour mill was more mysterious than the game itself.

well considering on how Beta Shinx looks more like Korochu it would make sense that Korochu was used to be a semi teaser to gen 4 so maybe the April fool's day prank was the thought that the pokemon was never going to exist
I remember before Black and White was released in 2009/2010 when the trailers were released. This is when Sigilyph was revealed. Me, and lots of other people immediately assumed it was the evolution of Unown.
I remember hearing people say that normal types would be super effective against fairy types before release and while it would of been good if that happened i didn't think it would be the case.

you know it amazes me how much the legends of the Mist stone and its "super evolved Pokémon" reminds me of MEGA stones and MEGA Evolution, even if it is just a total coincidence.
I remember when I was a kid and heartgold and soulsiver just dropped in my elementary school there was this rumor about, "alternative shinies" which were even rarer that normal shinies, and a kid I met was claiming that there was a hidden green Gyarados at the lake of rage and he was trying to find it. Truly simpler times
What a trip down memory lane. I was around for nearly all of these since I started with Gen 2. Mostly in the Serebii forums. During Gen 3 my friend and I tried to make fake Pokemon game boxart called "BloodRed and "PitchBlack" to trick people. That didn't work, but she did end up creating the fake Unova starters, but not as an intentional trick. 😄 And we had actually stopped being friends by that point, so I was kind of stunned when one day I saw Serebii linking to her page and posting her art in the fakemon section! I was a BIG proponent of Light type. I made this Solrock badge for my Serebii forum signature that said "I believe in Light Type". We'd argue about the usefulness of a Light type, and it was really fun. I remember thinking Grenjnja was a fakemon when I saw it, and I even put it in Photoshop to prove the art was uneven. People believed me! It's funny since Greninja is one of my favorite Pokemon now. At first I thought that I didn't even pay attention to any Sword and Shield leaks, but boy did I forget about the peanut bug footage. I remember people connecting it to an actual species of bug before the creator admitted he just got the design from a bunch of stuff in the room. 😆
Well I do know that there was a bootleg raboot plushie that was based off of a somewhat leaked beta version of what was there before it was officially shown but it's actually rare to come across it someone else talked about it and one of their videos about bootleg plushies and I'll tell you it was pretty interesting
alright but metal snake (Eternatus) and wooden horse (Zacian and Zamazenta) kind of a stretch but hey also the legendaries did get "armored forms" specifically with their corresponding armor giving them different forms I personally believe the theory that it was true but with fake info thrown in too close for me
Pokemon games by their very nature from the beginning where made for you to want and wish for more. I remember wanting to play in Orange island next when their was no next generation yet. DLC makes it possible to do now.
The rumour that got me was gen 4 and you could catch shadow Legendaries via Arceus's event. Where you would make your way though a maze while climbing stairs to make your way to Arceus. And encounter shadow pokemon. Including the lake trio.
Something that's always a good tip-off for fakemon - they look like they're done in the "standard" furry art style but with the flatter shading and colors of Pokémon. Also the fact that there are usually several convincing fake leaks that come out around the same time. I remember the fake Sprigatito leaks looked vastly different, but one that was interesting looked like it had been recreated from a fairly accurate description of Meowscarada. Like, the specific details were all wrong but the broad strokes were pretty darn close.
Dang with that one Sword & Shield leak they went to a lot of trouble doing all that 3D modelling and stuff. Also is it just me or does that fake mon look a lot like one of the new Regis from the expansion pass??
5:50 also another question (dont know if you found one of my other comments) whats your favorite depiction of combusken and skitty (dont know if its fakemon or depiction but i think its depiction tell me if its a fakemon) mine is skitty, why? Because it would be the replace of pikachu if people start growing bored of pikachu in the future
Armored evolution is a Digimon thing actually. Digimon can "special digivolve" using a set of items called DigiEggs (DE) and turn into a Armored evolution, or an entirely different Digimon from the original evolution line. But I think if it did come to Pokémon it would just be "slap an armor into charizard, done, Armored Charizard" instead of evolving charmander/charmeleon with an item to get a special Armored Pokémon (not charizard!) kind of like Gardevoir and Gallade. An example in Digimon would be Veemon, who can evolve by level into ExVeemon or Vdramon. But using DEs to evolve it can become Flamedramon, Miragemon, and one other. which all three are exclusive to that evolution method

The fake platypus water starter at 15:10 was made into a Temtem, after the creators bought the rights from the artist. So it DID become true, just in a different ip!
12:33 that box legend battle arena for Yveltal is interesting because when I caught Yveltal the arena was more fiery rather than shadowy
me: *sees rhinox*
Are transformers now pokemon?
Also, both Beast wars and Pokemon started the seme year
Rhinox looks like a foundation for Heatran and Volcanion
@@Mahvendren Vulcan?
6:54 I NEED to see these remade in a Sugimori artstyle
Surprised no one remembers mega solrock and mega lunatone rumours from the sun and moon announcements, it made so much sense at the time...
I'd love an update to this video when Scarlet and Violet come out with all the hotly discussed rumors that turned out not to be real.
I was around the gen 6 "leaks" and rumors and I remember it foudly, waiting to see what fenniken evolved into
I remember spending several hours in Viridian Forest during my Pokemon Blue days fighting 500 consecutive battles in order to encounter Pikablu
also using Gameshark to get one that was just missingno
SAD FOOTBALL FISH! GRASS OWL STARTER! OMG I remember those! Those were so cool!
There was also a big leak before the Let’s Go games were announced that said the games would be set 100 years after the original Kanto games and that the region had been torn apart and completely new cities and areas had emerged. The leak also claimed that the legendaries would be a spider and a snake (or smth like that) and that there would be new starters and tons of other new Pokémon.
fun fact
the design of the platypus in 15:13 was bought & used in a game called temtem
its called platypet, evolves into platox, and finally into platimous
has anyone notice that Empanda unintentionally foreshadow Ursuluna
The idea was that they’d be in gen 8 due to the British-European inspiration having relation to like, armored knights, etc
The skitty one looks like it would be a prevo of Meowth tbh. Which, at this point, I don't think we really need more Meowth lol. But I would've been down for it 20 years ago.
Armor evolutions sound sick tbh
Also, remember when Decidueye, Incineroar and Primarina were leaked, and everyone called them fake.
This was such a freaking cool video. I've been a pokemon fan all my life and I never heard of even half of these leaks. Thank you!
Everyone talking about old leaks in their memory, then I'm just noticing an Italian gameplay at 0:56
Random (and overly long) Question:
Is there no such thing as a Calculator
or Program or Witchraft-Tool;
Science or Magic;
that allows for QUICK and EASY
research on-the-go about EV-Training?
I mean, do i have to memorize Masses and Masses
of Data about how Everything reacts to Everything?!
There must be an easier way, yes?
Just something that asks of me the work
to memorize what Stat my Pokemon 'need' to grow in,
and then i enter this simple Stuff into something.
I mean, i dont wanna look up all the Pokemon
And create a Custom-List for any Route i enter:
Someone must have made something like this
for his own re-usability, or not??
at least the platypus made it's way to tem-tem
god, that thing haunted me ever since i found out about it. thank goodness it's solved
I can't wait for the switch release!
7:20 that so called turtwig evolution scared the shit out of me when I was a kid....from time to time I still have nightmares from it 😒
One of the fakemons that was presumed a real mon in the gen 5 games is Sadfish, it was added into pokemon Clover.
As a TyranitarTube fan, "Sadfish" sounds like a nickname Ttar would give to one of his Pokemon.
@@karaoconnoraliasraidra true
I wonder if the Pokegods rumors inspired mega evolutions eventually
Why does Sapsaur, Charcolt, Nidogod and Nidogodess look like they just came straight out of a terrible Creepypasta lol
That's funny. I've never thought of it that way.
I remember there was a rumor that you could somehow fuse two of the starters together. I always wanted a Charisaur or a Blastzard
Venustoise from the anime perhaps?
well considering on how Beta Shinx looks more like Korochu it would make sense that Korochu was used to be a semi teaser to gen 4 so maybe the April fool's day prank was the thought that the pokemon was never going to exist
It'd be nice if normal types got some love. But the Ice types probably need a buff even more.
@@lucifermorningstar8562 same for bug types
@@TwistedDonners bug doesn't need a buff per se, just mons that don't die to sneezes, have a decent stay spread and have actually good movepools and abilities.
Very informative, thanks.
You forgot to mention Dragonite's evolution into Yoshi.
you know it amazes me how much the legends of the Mist stone and its "super evolved Pokémon" reminds me of MEGA stones and MEGA Evolution, even if it is just a total coincidence.
I remember the X and Y fake leaks :D brings back so many memories. I've always wanted the ferret fakemon and Peppanero.
Welcome to Early town
That mist stone thing was just time travelers trying to tell us about mega evolutions and we didn't listen
I WISH THE FAKE SKITTY IN GEN 3 WAS REAL
WHY DOES IT LOOK SO GOOD
I remember when I was a kid and heartgold and soulsiver just dropped in my elementary school there was this rumor about, "alternative shinies" which were even rarer that normal shinies, and a kid I met was claiming that there was a hidden green Gyarados at the lake of rage and he was trying to find it.
The BloodRed idea sounds cool
Those fake sun and moon starters unlocked a massive memory. They were so prevalent on the scene back then
PokeGods Era Yes I’m that old 🤣🤣🤣
Just telling my daughter about pikablue and mewthree the other day
Same I'm 28 dam we all getting old
@@peteryanes9339And I'm six years older than you Lol Makes me feel like a grandpa
Havent been early since the realisation that yoshi isnt in pokemon
Well I do know that there was a bootleg raboot plushie that was based off of a somewhat leaked beta version of what was there before it was officially shown but it's actually rare to come across it someone else talked about it and one of their videos about bootleg plushies and I'll tell you it was pretty interesting
alright but metal snake (Eternatus) and wooden horse (Zacian and Zamazenta)
kind of a stretch but hey
also the legendaries did get "armored forms" specifically with their corresponding armor giving them different forms
I personally believe the theory that it was true but with fake info thrown in
too close for me
Metal snake and wooden horse are great concept, those could to make way in gen 9
I remember seeing the galar bug dragon thing and believed it was real up until the games came out and was confused to find it wasn't there
Something that's always a good tip-off for fakemon - they look like they're done in the "standard" furry art style but with the flatter shading and colors of Pokémon.
Perhaps the PokéGods are what inspired Mega evolution and Gygantamax
Dang with that one Sword & Shield leak they went to a lot of trouble doing all that 3D modelling and stuff.
Also is it just me or does that fake mon look a lot like one of the new Regis from the expansion pass??
the times inbetween the shilouettes of the unova starters being revealed and the designs being revealed were... interesting...
I remember in a video someone told these gen 8 leaks
early pokemon was something else with those playground rumors and glitches in gen 1 and 2, it was something u had to be their to get the full impact
Rhinox looks remarkably like volcanion without the hoop.
@Falcon Hyperion that is a legit shout tbf. I missed that one
“I will never fall for a fake leak!”
*Proceeds to fall for every single one
Armored evolutions sounds like a digimon thing. Would be a cool concept tho : D
15:10 thats from a game called temtem, its called platypet, and its my favorite one.
