Nate team will be : - Emboar - Lucario - Arcanine Those first 3 are there because it's the Pokemon that he used in anime publicity that we had when Black 2 and White 2 was out. Then the rest of his team his : - N's Zoroark a gift pokemon of the story - Braviary a static encounter that we can have in Route 4 - Reshiram, N give his Reshiram to the protag in the post-game. We can argue that the protagonist also used : Cinccino and Volcarona a static accounter from the games. And also maybe the legendary Sword of Justice. But I don't think it will fits the protag personnally
I think Umbreon is a better fit for Ethan for two reasons, first, match the color of Ethan cap, and night timw was the "new time", (also is an contraposition of Red's Espeon)
Also shows off one of the 2 new typing, and is likely the only dark type one would use since the others are too late in the game (and given Johto's ridiculous difficulty curve lol, picking up a Houndour, Murkrow, and especially Tyranitar or Sneasel via Mt Silver uggh)
You didn't give Ethan an Ampharos when it's universally considered to be a must-have for Johto playthroughs and it was even shown fighting Red's Blastoise in "GOTCHA!" which I'm pretty sure is the one of the few times the series has shown protagonist's canon another team member other than the starter (not counting artwork, trailers, anime/second-level canon etc.)... I think Calem should have Florges instead of Sylveon considering Dexio and Sina on Route 4 and AZ on Route 13 have special dialogues if you have members of Florges evolutionary line in your party.
@@drjayson i would have figured espeon would go, because we are guaranteed that ethan runs into both donphan (from the anime) and sudowudo (from the barrier), while espeon is a guesspeon
Hard disagree on Gen 3, the anime and games are seperate realities, in Pokémon Masters we learn that Brendan is canonically Norman's son and starts with a Treecko
In the episode specials they were releasing like years ago when they had May as the protagonist for the ORAS and I believe a year prior when they were doing episode dedicated to Villains they had Brendon. The only Canon protagonist are Red and Ethan while the others have been represented as either or. Even if you disagree he's not wrong as Masters isn't Canon the the mainline games and shouldn't be taken seriously.
@@drunknbard2807Brendan had a Sceptile in one of those old shorts, too. But then again, he’s got Swampert in the movie. Lot you said, there’s no real canon here
It’s hard to consider masters as canon as it’s not a main series game and does a lot of lore bending to fit the narrative of that game. That being said, I do agree that it makes more sense for Brendan to be Norman’s son and May to be Professor Birch’s daughter. Aesthetically speaking, you can clearly see a visual resemblance between Brendan and Norman, and may and Birch.
Castform is forced onto you, while you are not forced to catch a Kecleon For me, I will be going off the Rival battle locations and picking a Pokemon that can only be found at or near the area. Route 103 - Sceptile / Blaziken (Could also include Swampert, but avoided due to inclusion of final Pokemon in my rule) Route 104 / Rustboro - Slaking (Could be Breloom, avoided due to Type overlap with either Sceptile or Blaziken) Route 110 - Swalot Route 119 - Castform (Could be Tropius or Milotic) Lilycove City - Starmie Post Game - Latias / Latios (First Post Game mission given to you after entering the Hall of Fame for the first time)
For Nate, my boy Nate who always gets hate. Emboar and Lucario (because of that one anime apperance), Haxorus(shiny because Masters and you can get one in the game), Braviary (he has one in Masters and you can get one at level 25 in W2), Zoroark (gift Zorua), and then Sawbuck(the gift one you get that has a hidden ability). Could have Arcanine, too, but didn't want to overlap mon typings if I could help it.
I always thought Umbreon would be used by Gold/Ethan, mostly because it rivals with Red's Espeon + it kind of fits his style well and his hat perfectly
I dont think so as Silver has Umbreon, as well as Gary in the anime. Umby was never much of a protagonist mon😅. Ethan had T-tar in some outlets for a dark type
Ethan definitely has: Typhlosion (Most seen and associated starter) Ampharos (Pretty much mandatory for Johto) Umbreon (Gift from Bill) Scizor (Bug catching contest) Red Gyarados/Kingdra (Mandatory encounter vs what he's been seen with in official media) Tyranitar/Togekiss (Pseudo-legendary or the gift egg)
5:09 "gift pokemon" it's event-exclusive in black/white and the picture shows an in-game event which is only doable in the postgame because it requires event shiny legendary beasts (and national pokedex)... the only other way to get zorua in black/white requires event celebi so it's also locked to the postgame. zorua is a gift pokemon in black 2/white 2 but these games have different protagonists Edit: Zen Mode Darmantian is also technically locked to the postgame as it requires Rage Candy Bar to awaken, and you receive the first one from professor juniper after defeating ghetsis (Royal Unova only starts gifting them in the postgame as well)... Volcarona is also locked to the postgame (I'm not even gonna count the Larvesta gift Pokemon considering how weak it is and how late it evolves) SO you've left Hilbert with only two Pokémon to go through the entire Unova region... -.-
While we have good ol' Red showing off that Pikachu, Gloria and Juliana are like: "No, screw this. It's two legendaries and I want anyone to come and say some shit."
I legally cannot consider Incineroar canon to the protagonist in gen 7 simply because he fits Professor Kukui and his alter ego far too well for him to have either of the other starters.
Given how you used Pokémon Masters as a basis for some of these, Rosa would technically be the protagonist of B2W2 instead of Nate. This actually gives us some stuff to go off of for her team. Serperior (the only starter Rosa has been shown using in... basically all of the spin-off media) Delibird (from one of her holiday variants) Meloetta (her Neo Champion variant) And then we can fill out some other ones from gifts and static encounters. Zoroark (gift) Reshiram (since Hilbert has Zekrom) Either Shiny Garchomp or Shiny Dragonite (a gift egg from Benga)
I dunno about Nate, but Rosa's team would probably be: Serperior (Because of Pokémon Masters EX & the trailer for BW2) Ampharos Cinccino (static encounter) Mandibuzz (static encounter) N's Zoroark Azumarill
Not to nitpick, but lapras is also an optional gift pokemon. I think Mewtwo would better than Lapras as Reds last Pokemon since Red canonically catches the Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave.
Nate, I actually did his Canon Team when I played through Unova a third time-basing it off the Cinematic Black/White2 Video. 1) Emboar, as indicated in the video against Elise, this would be his starter. 2) Lucario. For the Colress encounter as well as the chase in Opelucid. 3) Arcanine. For the fight along the Fridgate alongside Cheren and Rival Hugh. 4) Braviary. A static encounter that the Trainer could catch along his travels. 5) Shiny Haxorus in the Preserve. 6) Vanilluxe for the Pixeli reference
Maybe it's in the manga but Gold/Ethan is often seen having a Sunflora for some reason, it's also kinda "fan cannon" for him to have Ampharos. Some of Ruby/Brendan's team would have been Swampert, Aggron and, Shiftry as seen from his anime appearances it's also kinda cannon for him to have (as seen in the manga) a Mightyena and a Gardevoir, then there's Latios of course. Some of Diamond/Lucas team would be Torterra and Magmortar. I was going to mention Nate's team but @mimiquoi7380 already did the best answer to that 8:28 LOVE that you randomly added this classic epic song
Great video! Something that wasn’t covered in the video or people’s comments is the Pokémon the Emerald protagonist has in the opening cutscene, being Torchic, Manetric and Flygon. For May’s team I suggest: Blaziken Manetric Flygon Kecleon (roadblock encounter) Metagross (gift from Steven) Latias (ORAS)
Here are a few of my takes for anyone that cares - Yeah, I think it makes sense to mention Red’s Mt.Silver team as his canon final team, but I think it would be fair to assume that his Let’s go team was his canon team when we ventured through the Kanto region. - the above logic translates to Green/Leaf. Her let’s go team makes sense (I know she isn’t in this video) - like many others have said, umbreon fits Gold a lot more than espeon (potential counterpart to Red’s espeon) - It makes more sense for Brendan to be Norman’s son and May to be Birch’s daughter purely based on physical resemblance. - for the Kalos Starter pairing I see Serena using Blastoise over Venusaur. I always thought it made sense to pair the Kalos starter with the Kanto starter that’s super effective against Serna/ Calum’s starter. the pairings being; Chestnaught and Charizard, Delphox and Blastoise, Greninja and Venusaur
Nice video! I think May's team probably includes an Aggron, as no other major trainers use it as an ace and the female protagonist in Hoenn is frequently shown with one. I might also add Wailord or Relicanth as references to the Regi quest and the heavy importance of water areas in general
You know I always made a head cannon joke in my head that every Pokémon protagonist most probably had a psuedo legendary and legendary on their team since psuedo legendaries AND legendaries have appeared in every game just like their starter pokemons so it would make since if they had at least one on their team ALSO I am betting that most of the Pokémon protagonist caught pokemons that WERE FROM THERE REGION and no other Pokémon from a past generation so yeah
Red: Charizard (because Blue would DEFINITELY get Blastoise) Pikachu (duh) Lapras (gift Pokémon) Snorlax (because Pokéflute) Hitmonchan (from the dojo) Flareon/Vaporeon/Jolteon (can be any, since he already has all three types) Ethan: Typhlosion (neither he nor Silver would pick Chikorita) Togetic (from the egg) Ampharos (popular choice, plus Jasmine has one) Sudowoodo (the one that blocks the road) Shiny Gyarados (Lake of Rage) Unown (Ruins of Alph) May: Blaziken (because anime) Gardevoir (Wally has one, so why not you?) Tentacruel (very common, and you need to Surf) Cradily (desert fossil, and you need a grass type against all the water Pokémon) Castform (Weather Institute) Latias/Latios (because ORAS) Dawn: Torterra (Barry having a Chimchar just makes too much sense) Bibarel (HM slave) Luxray (because you have good taste) Togekiss (egg from Cynthia) Rapidash (because you need a counter for Team Galactic's Bronzors, and there are no other fire types) Drifblim (Valley Windworks) Hilbert: Samurott (Cheren with Serperior and Bianca with Emboar makes most sense) Simisear (Dreamyard) Archeops (Relic Castle, no Carracosta since you already have a water type) Zoroark (gift Pokémon) Amoonguss (fake Pokéballs on route 6) Reshiram (counter N's ideals with the truth) Serena: Greninja (one of the most popular Pokémon) Charizard (because Gamefreak has a bias) Snorlax (because Pokéflute) Lapras (gift Pokémon, yes I'm aware half of this team is Red's, X and Y is weird like that) Lucario (from Korrina) Tyrantrum (fossil from the scientist, more likely than Aurorus) Elio: Decidueye (because Incineroar fits Kukui so well!) Alolan Raticate (caught at the first trial) Lycanroc (because version differences) Aerodactyl (gift Pokémon) Salazzle (you needed a fire type, also you caught a male Salandit first and got really cosfused) Lunala (you're not going to bench Nebby!) Gloria: Inteleon (Hop with Cinderace works well) Dubwool (because you fell in love with Wooloo) Toxtricity (from the daycare) Ninetales (caught in Motostoke gym) Zacian (because plot, and the shield fits Hop better when he learns he's never going to beat you) Urshifu (DLC) Either character from Scarlet and Violet, they both look generic as hell: Meowscarada (feels like the canon choice) Armarouge (because it is awesome) Palafin (for the Zero to Hero plot twist) Gholdengo (Gimmighoul is literally everywhere!) Koraidon (because the orange pants look better on everyone) Ogerpon (DLC)
Red’s team is based on yellow, so I think him having all 3 starters is ok However if it’s only 1 starter, you could go with either Charizard (because of Origins) or Venusaur (because of the manga)
Hilbert's Zekrom is canon and counters N's vision of truth with Reshiram. N thinks pokémon and humans needs to be separated in order to coexist for the benefit of pokémon and that's his truth, but Hilbert proves it wrong by showing that pokémon and humans can live together (an ideal world).
6:13 wait if Calem is using Chesnaught then wouldn’t Serena have froakie, because she’s the protagonist in this scenario. If Calem is the rival then he’d have the stronger starter.
Pokémon Protagonists Canon Teams Red (If he picked one starter): Charizard/Venusaur Pikachu Snorlax Lapras Hitmonlee (Red has a Hitmonlee in origins were he battled Giovanni) Aerodactyl (Red’s manga counterpart has one) Hornable mention: Espeon Leaf/Green: Venusaur/Blastoise Victreebel/Seadra (Leaf’s manga counterpart technically has a horsea I think) Ninetales Clefable Gengar Kangaskhan Ethan/Gold: Typhlosion Togetic Ampharos (Ampharos is commonly used in jotho playthroughts and Gold has an Ampharos in that GOTHCA video) Umbreon Sudowoodo Gyarados Kris: Feralligatr Xatu Arcanine Wigglytuff Donphan Dragonite Hornable mention: Misdreavus Lyra: Meganium Azumarill Girafarig Shuckle Magcargo (One of the eggs that were given to you in violet city) Fearow (in Route 36 there was a spearow that you need to take to someone’s friend on route 31 but ou technically keep the spearow) Brendan: Sceptile Gradevoir (It’s on many horn teams and Brendan’s manga counterpart has one) Swellow Ludicolo Castform Rhydon (Brendan has a Rhyperior in that giritina movie) May: Blaziken Breloom (One of the rival teams) Beautifly (Anime) Aggron (Her manga counterpart has one and May has an Aggron in Evolutions) Wailord (In masters she has a Waimer and in the manga she has a Wailord Altaria (May has an Altaria in Evolutions and the ORAS animated trailer) Lucas: Torterra Staraptor (Very common in Sinnoh teams) Luxray (Same with Staraptor) Gliscor (He has Gliscor in his BDSP rematch teams somewhere) Magmortar (That Giritina Movie) Lucario (Same with Luxray) Dawn: Empoleon Rapidash (Her manga counterpart has one) Lopunny (She has the line both the manga and anime) Pacharisu (Same with Lopunny) Leafeon Togekiss Hilbert: Samurott Simisear Krookadile (Rental Pokémon from the battle subway) Sawk (Same with Krookadile) Archeops Zekrom (Unlike legends from previous games which are optional, your forced to catch it) Hilda: Emboar Simisage Beartic (Rental Pokémon from the battle subway) Scrafty (Same with Beartic) Carracosta Reshiram (Forced to catch) Nate: Emboar Lucario (B2W2 trailer) Arcanine (Same with Lucario) Braviary (Masters) Sawsbuck Jellicent (Mandatory encounter) Rosa: Serperior Zoraroark Delibird (Masters) Mandibuzz (Mandatory Encounter) Amoongus (Rosa’s manga counterpart has one) Crustle (Mandatory Encounter) Calem: Chesnaught Charizard Tyrantrum Lucario Lapras Xerneas Serena: Delphox Blastoise Auroras Sylveon (Anime) Meowstic Yveltal Elio: Inciniroar Toucannon Lycnenroc Tsereena Alolan Ninetales Alolan Raichu Selene: Deciduaeye Vikavolt (Her manga counterpart has one) Umbreon (Masters) Toxapex (Same with Vikavolt) Alolan Muk (Same with Toxapex) Naganadel Chase: Pikachu Charizard Lapras Persian Hitmonlee Omastar Elaine: Eevee Blastoise Venusaur Arcanine Hitmonchan Kabutops Victor: Rilaboom Sirfetch (His manga counterpart has one) Conkeldurr (Same with Sirfetch) Toxtricity Orbeetle (It’s because it’s an early route mon and no other main character that you battle doesn’t have one) Mr Rime (Same with Conkeldurr) Gloria: Cinderace Barrascuda Falinks Toxtricity Galarian Stunfisk Enternetes Basically her manga team but I swap one of them Rei/Akari: They Technically had all the Pokémon in the Pokédex from PLA because the goal in the game is to catch them all Florian: Skeliderge Clodsire Arboliva Lokix Perserkerr (Gift) Lucario (Official Artwork) Juliana: Meowscerada Pikachu (Biri Music video) Gengar (Same with Pikachu) Dachshund (Same with Gengar) Palafin (Manga) Armorouge (Same with Palafin) Gengar
@@Filiscool47 these are cool! I recon Red and Green/ Leafs team would just be their let’s go teams, especially seeing as chase and elain are considered
Actually.. they have official teams in the Manga (Pokemon Special) for example Black (or Hilbert) has in the end of the manga Braviary, Musharna, Emboar, Galvantula, Carracosta and Reshiram
Sooo... to me it's quite obvious it's an Umbreon in Ethan's team. Also, pretty sure the last spot goes to Hitmontop or Scizor, mostly Hitmontop. The first you get a Tyrogue, the second you catch during the bug contest. The two new types, dark and steel, get represented by umbreon and scizor this way. There's also an argument for the E Speed dragonite, but I believe that's a Crystal pokemon.
nate/Rosa's team... that is kinda a hard challenge ok, here is the team i think: Samurott: Celebrity bias. Hillbert chooses Samurott as his starter so i can see Nate/Rosa seeing Samurott as their starter. Lucario: Floroma Ranch Rare pokemon. it would be CRIME to not use a lucario. Magnezone: Roxie is a good roadblock and a merciless trainer. due to lucario still being Riolu at this point, Hilbert decides to train in Virbank complex, where he/She captures a Magnemite. next trainer that can push main character is Elisa, as its stated that Elisa is a HUGE roadblock. so Nate/Rosa goes to Desert Resort, and seeks a ground type. while on the road, they catch Braviary. but the real goal was to seek a ground type... like Sandile and thus, Krokorok. N's Zorua. gifted from Team Plazma Knights acting leader, Rood. while there are more pokemon they can use, with balance of good defence, great offence and tricky support, they can go until grand chasm, where they beat Ghetsis BARELY. then they complete their team with the pseudo-legendary pokemon: Metagross. Pokemons that used until the battle against Ghetsis, or pokemons that are captured AFTER the league are: Swords of Justice who wanted the protag to catch them to stop Ghetsis, Shiny Haxorus, Shiny Gible(due to it being B2) Volcarona and Skill Link Chinchino from the very first hidden grotto.
Here are the team matchups. Everyone hits everyone at neutral damage at the very least, so this will be a ranking of how many they hit for neutral damage as opposed to super effective damage. The higher the number, the lower they rank. Julieta: 104 PLA Protag: 143 Serena: 146 Dawn: 172 Elio: 186 Gloria: 183 Hilbert: 214 May: 252 Red: 298 Ethan: 309 All I have to say on this is: Power creep is real.
I'll go over my options for canon starter teams based on the video games. This will be a bit of a list as my list consists of canon teams from gen 2+: Gold: Typlosion (starter) Togetic/Togekiss (Togepi egg) Sudowoodo (obstacle like Snorlax) Hitmontop (Tyrogue gift from Mt mortar) Dragonite (Dratini gift from Dragon master) Jolteon (Eevee gift/team balance; Johto representation swap for Espeon) Brendan: Sceptile (assumed main character of the story with May the rival choosing her anime starter) Wobbufett (Wynaut egg) Castform (Weather institute gift) Kecleon (invisible obstacle) The following can be chosen accordingly and can be swapped depending on the villain teams fought and if the legendary is aquired: Latios (joins team in oras) Camerupt (Team magma gift) Sharpedo (Team Aqua gift) May: Blaziken (Anime inspiration) The following is taken from her rival team in oras: Swellow Raichu Breloom Wailord The last is present in all her final teams in emerald: Tropius Lucas (not including dawn since she has (mostly) her anime team in BDSP): Torterra (assumed main character of the story with Dawn as the professor's assistant choosing her anime starter) Drifblim (Drifloon event at Valley Windworks) Lucario (Riley egg) Togekiss (Togepi egg from Cynthia in Platinum) Spiritomb (after doing the underground tasks) Porygon-Z (Porygon gift in platinum near Galactic headquarters) Hilbert: Emboar (this is in consideration with the rivals' chosen pokemon to better fit them, Snivy for Bianca and Oshawatt for Cheren) Simsage (pansear gift near dreamyard) Zoroark (two of the "same" gift pokemon if you do proper events) Volcarona (similar to Zoroark, but without using events) Darmamitan (catchable zen mode in the desert) Reshiram/Zekrom (self expanitory) (this is almost identical to this video but with less fire types if you keep Generatons's zekrom) Nate: Emboar (similar to Hilbert, reflected for the choice of the rival, I dont see Hugh willingly picking a snivy no matter his kind personality) Deerling (gift pokemon on route 6) Jellicent (Undella bay static encounter) Braviary (Route 4 static encounter, fits better than mandibuzz) Crustle (catchable through events at seaside cave) Zoroark (N's Zorua given to him) Reshiram/Zekrom are NOT mandatory to catch before battling the champion Calem: Chesnaught (assumed main character of the story with Serena the rival choosing her anime starter) Lucario (Korrina's gift to the player) Tyrantrum (Jaw fossil revived during the storyline) The following are based on similar events to Red that go on through the story: Snorlax Lapras Charizard (X) Xerneas/Yveltal won't be included even though they are necessary for battling Lysandre (minimal plot relivance); I will assume after the battle the legendary is allowed to go back to the wild Serena: This team is based on her final rival team in X Y: Delphox Absol Jolteon Meowstic Altaria Clefable Ellio: Half the team will be based on the demo and added pokemon throughout the entire generation: Greninja Lycanrok (dusk) Melmetal (technically unobtainable, but this reflects the final pokemon added in gen 7) The final half are ride pokemon given to you: Mudsdale Machamp Charizard Below I will begin using both the male/female protagonists no matter what with the introduction of dimensions and universes Selene: Primarina (similar to other starters, personality ties into this decision, the "female" pokemon is given to the female character, Hau and Kukui will mostly likely personally choose Litten and Rowlet respectively) Exeggutor (catchable on Exeggutor Island) Sylveon (Eevee given to you in the ranch) The following are ridable pokemon given to you in Alola: Tauros Stoutland Nebby (your box legendary that you will bond with and get by the end of the game, I personally would choose Lunala for Selene) Victor: Cinderace (mirrors Goh in the anime) Toxtricity (given to you by the daycare, this would be the low-key form) Sandaconda (Silicobra plays a minor part in the team yell storyline) Galarian Slowking (through adventuring the entire DLC) Venasaur (gift from the dojo) Gloria: Most of this team is based off being opposites of Victor's team: Inteleon (made with the "starter trio decisions", Hop with Rillaboom, Victor with Cinderace, Gloria with Inteleon) Toxtricity (Amped form) Galarian Slowbro Blastoise Vespiquen (she plays a part in the Max Honey section of the Isle of Armor) Ninetales (a good addition to her team, Vulpix is catchable in Kabu's gym challenge) We will not include the 3 catchable legendaries (Kubfu/Zacian or Zamazenta/Eternatus) for the gen 8 protagonists, this will completely break the team and no normal person in their universes would use a team half legendaries) Juliana: Meowscarada (based on Liko) Oinkklogne (Lechonk is iconic, the first catchable Pokemon and works good as a counterpart to Florian when using gender "forms", hers will be female) Alolan Exeggutor (you need to catch an alolan pokemon in Blueberry academy) Ariados (catchable in kitakami through the ursaluna storyline) Perserker (a gift pokemon from the school) Ogerpon (main character and forced catch in the teal mask) Florian: Skeledirge (based on Roy) Oinkolgne (this is where the forms come in, male form) Alolan Muk (you need to catch an alolan pokemon in Blueberry academy, not gonna repeat exeggutor) Terapagos (the last pokemon you will catch in the entire dlc) The following are obtainable after completing Perrin's quest: Ursaluna (bloodmoon) Arcanine (Hisuian) Koraidon and Miraidon technically do not need to be included for Florian and Juliana as they are a travel companion that takes up the "7th slot" within the games' mechanics
Nate’s Team: Emboar - Shown in Black 2/ White 2 trailer Simisage - Since he has Emboar Arcanine - Can be caught early on in either game and is also shown in Black 2/ White 2 trailer Galvantula - Player most likely catches something in Chargestone cave and galvantula is most likely since the next gym is flying. Keldeo - He catches it in the manga and it is fitting since the player gets all the swords of justice. Genesect- Gets it in the manga and is fitting
This was a really good video! Probably would make two changes. I’d swap Gloria’s Cinderace for Inteleon. Yes Cinderace is the one that can G-Max but Gloria has a line in Masters where she says Inteleon is the starter she traveled with. She also says she got Cinderace from an egg Hop gave her. Which means her Cinderace was probably bred from Hop’s. As for Juliana I’d change Ogerpon for Terapagos. I love Ogerpon but Terapagos is probably the most important Pokemon of Paldea where Juliana is from. I mean it created a battle gimmick and is found at the literal heart of Paldea.
If red didn’t have all three starters, I think a great team for him would be: Charizard (the starter that fits him the most) Pikachu (it’s pikachu) Snorlax (Most consistent non-starter pokemon) Lapras (Gift from Silph co) Machamp (Let’s Go, Serves as the Brawn to Blue’s alakazam’s brains) Aerodactyl (Manga)
@@firewarrior8298He’s been seen with bulbasaur just as much, if not even more than Charmander. All his main series team include bulbasaur and gamefreak always intended on Red using bulbasaur and Green/Blue using Charmander (early set and a lot of early spinoff media).
There also exists some art of red using Charmander against a butterfree, as well as pokemon Zensho and Being ash’s only fully evolved Kanto Starter in the anime
@@firewarrior8298 that is true. But he was primarily, if not always seen with the bulbasaur like prior to 2013 with pokemon masters. At this point Ash is too different to Red to even factor that.
My canon team for the Pokemon protagonists I played Red in Yellow Version Pikachu Charizard Venusaur Blastoise Eevee (I kept it an Eevee throughout the game, even while battling the Elite four and Blue with it to reflect the fact that it will become Espeon 3 years later) Snorlax Lapras (But I use it only for the move Surf and to reflect the fact that Red became popular in Johto as the boy riding a Lapras (A song about him and Lapras was written), and he will use it in battles in Black 2, White 2 and Sun, Moon, UltraSun, UltraMoon instead of Espeon) Gold in Crystal Version Typhlosion (Starter) Feraligatr Meganium Sudowoodo Pichu Granbull May in Emerald Version Blaziken (Starter) Sceptile Swampert Manectric Altaria Kecleon (Due to the fact that Kecleon is an obstacle Pokemon like Snorlax) Dawn in Platinum Version Torterra (Starter) Luxray (I PLANNED ON HAVING LUXRAY IN MY TEAM EVER SINCE I LEARNED ABOUT IT BEFORE DIAMOND/PEARL RELEASED IN JAPAN!!!) Floatzel Garchomp Lucario Weavile Hilbert in White Version 1 Samurott (Starter) Simisear (Since Cheren and Bianca got Simisage and Simipour respectively) Zebstrika Krookodile Zoroark (For the record, the gift event Zoroark is always a SHE, and I loved pitting her against N's Zoroark, who is male, in the finale battle!) Braviary Zekrom Nate in White Version 2 Serperior (Originally I wanted to select Snivy as my starter in White Version 1, but Oshawott grew on me) Arcanine Electivire Golduck Skarmory Cofagrigus Reshiram/White Kyurem Calem in X Version Greninja (Starter) Delphox (the Fennekin gift from Shauna post-Pokemon League) Chesnaught Aegislash Heliolisk Tyrantrum Charizard X (I chose Charmander as my Kanto starter) Xerneas Elio in UltraSun Version Incineroar (Starter) Primarina Decidueye Vikavolt Naganadel Lycanroc (Dusk Form) Solgaleo Victor in Sword Version (the team that defeated Leon) Inteleon (Starter) Cinderace Rillaboom Corviknight Boltund Sirfetch'd Zacian I don't have Scarlet or Violet yet, but this is my planned party. Florian in Violet Version Meowscarada (Starter) Kilowattrel Palfin (with Hero Form ability) Farigiraf Ceruledge Baxcalibur
I actually had a Pokemon battle with red a long time ago in Pokemon HeartGold and sun in ultra Sun those are some good times and great memories watch some good old-fashioned memories of Pokemon and all the players that you played against in the characters you played as and red is one of my favorite Pokemon characters including Ash and like all the others 😉👍
3:54 I never used any of these Pokemon in my original Pearl playthrough. I've never even used a Staraptor before in any Pokemon game, including fan ones.
@drjayson Pearl was my first game ever, and my team was Infernape, Roserade, Gyarados, Golem, Noctowl, and Crobat, but I had a Dragonite in the post-game. When I played Platinum for the first time a year ago, I had Infernape, Rampardos, Snorlax, Drifloom, Gastrodon, and Weavile.
An enjoyable video. As you said Pokemon teams are ultimately up to each player. Pokemon Red is one of my favorite games. I always considered a default team for Red based on events in the game. This team would be Charizard, Jolteon, Snorlax, Hitmonchan, Lapras, and Aerodactyl. These are Pokemon that Red would almost definitely come across in terms of the story in his Kanto adventure.
If we're matching the player experience, in Pokemon white, were gonna ditch the monkey as soon as we beat the first gim and take the early bird and a Zebstrika that is ditched later by zekrom's entrance
Brendan in the animé is seen with a Swampert, a Shiftry, an Aggron, and a Rhyperior (or Rhydon since we're in gen 3). His Shiftry is in a Repeat Ball, and Aggron in a Luxury Ball (the kind of ball you can get only once in RSE without trades btw)
I think the canon team for Nate should be Samurott (It’s his starter in the Manga) Simisear (When not the player character, Nate/Rose have the elemental money weak to their starter) Crustle (Around 3 different times the player has to wake up some Crustle blocking the way to progress) Zoroark (Your given a Zorua for the story of B2W2) Sawsbuck (The gift Deerling with it’s hidden ability) Braviary (In W2 you can find a wild Braviary as a static encounter in the desert route)
Pokemon Masters is probably a good way to do this but personally Ive always looked at the Adventures manga for this kind of thing. Red having a Venusaur, Poliwrath, Pikachu, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Gyarados and an Eevee just seems right
These are the teams I gave Brendan, Red, May and Leaf/Green in a colosseum mod video I made a while ago. I wanted to give them teams that would be considered in their prime! Brendan: Rayquaza Sceptile Aggron Latios Rhydon Deoxys Red: Pikachu Charizard Lapras Snorlax Dragonite Mewtwo May: Blaziken Beautifly Altaria Swampert Latias Kyogre Leaf/Green: Venusaur Nidoqueen Vaporeon Blissey Moltres Mew For anyone interested to see them in battle check it out! ruclips.net/video/IxlWReSGAzY/видео.html
I love how unique you mad ethese teams, taking the anime and player's experience into account. However, wouldn't Calem's/Serena's last team member be Xerneas or Yveltal? Like in BW, you are required to catch it. As for Nate/Rosa, the team I could see him/her using is: - Emboar - Lucario - Arcanine - Zoroark - Sawsbuck - Keldeo
This is true! I kinda forgot you had to catch them as well. Plus, I couldn’t find anything to determine whether X or Y would be considered the canon story-
Red (alternate team): Charizard (Mega Charizard X) - Pokemon Masters and Pokemon Origins Pikachu Snorlax Espeon Articuno - Red has an Articuno in Pokemon Masters Lapras - with only one kanto starter, Red has room for his other water type to be on his team
I personally would have given Red an Espeon because of the type overlap Lapras has with Blastoise, but I completely understand your reasoning, giving him the Lapras. I personally would have given Ethan an Umbreon to contrast more with Red's Espeon.
What would the Canon Teams for Wes & Michael look like? For Wes, I could see this team: Espeon Umbreon Plusle (Gift from Duking) Feraligatr (Wes' Counterpart in a separate Manga, Leo in the Manga owns Feraligatr) or Skarmory (Which would be Snagged from Gonzap in game) Meganium (Which Wes owns in the Manga) Ludicolo (Manga Wes also has a Ludicolo) However, you do get a choice in Johto Starters while in Phenac between Bluno's Croconaw, Roso's Quilava & Verde's Bayleef; all of which are Shadow Pokémon. Ludicolo is the only non-Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum and unobtainable without clearing the story; so if Wes used both his Eeveelutions, Plusle, Skarmory & Feraligatr/ Typhlosion/ Meganium, would his last Pokémon be Sudowoodo snagged from Miror B. or one of the Johto Legendary Beasts snagged from Dakim, Venus & Ein respectively? Yes, an imposter uses a Shadow Togetic to attack people, but, that Shadow Togetic is the *last* *Shadow* *Pokémon* *you* *snag.* So, I want to know Wes' Pre-Nascour Team. Then Michael from Gale Of Darkness, what do you suppose his team would canonically be? For Colosseum, I used: Espeon Umbreon Typhlosion Quagsire Ampharos Flygon While in Gale Of Darkness, my final team was: Jolteon Houndoom Mightyena Xatu Sandslash Dewgong I was also using Sharpedo & Shiftry for a short while. I also considered using Spearow, but, quickly dropped the idea.
For Nate's team Id go with embor(switch with serperior if you are playing as Rosa as in the BW2 Trailers shes shown using this in a gym battle with cheren while he uses emboar against Elise) then lucario and arcanine since he uses those in the trailer as well, then id say one of the sacred swords as they are all encounters that you dont expect but they show up on the main path and I think 2/3 are even unavoidable so any of the 3 or even possibly keldeo(But this one is a stretch) are valid options but id go with cobalion, Zoroark from the gift in driftveil city and id finish it with the static cinccino from the hidden grotto tutorial
gloria having scorbunny makes sense, as hop picks the rival thats weakest towards yours. if you pick scorbunny, he picks sobble, which is fitting, because his entire goal is to beat/surpass leon!
This idea always fascinates me. I do a protagonist team every time a new game comes out. The only problem is that S/V kinda killed my enjoyment of Pokémon for a while, I hope Legends Z-A will bring back my enthusiasm to make character teams. Ps: You might wanna prepare a version without the legendaries, it's a free video idea and is gonna save you from a lot of potential negative comments. 👍🏻
Underrated aspect of Red's Gen 2 team, with Espeon instead of Lapras. Besides Charizard and Blastoise sharing a weakness to Electric, no other two Pokemon actually share a common weakness. You can't sweep his team with your starter, and you should be packing an Ampharos!
I always like Black as being the canonical version gen 5 because reshiram was owned by the older of the 2 brothers of legend. And in the Black timeline, Hilbert is older than Nate so it fits that he would be get reshiram to mirror that first pair. But I know Legends did zekrom. So keeping with that, Nate should have reshiram. The animated trailer for B2W2 also gives him emboar, arcanine (oh boy, another half the team that is fire type), and lucario. Masters EX also gives him braviary (which is an exclusive to white version and a very American Pokemon for Unova) and a shiny haxorus that would have been from the nature preserve. I think that is a fair enough team.
For Ethan, Ampharos and Tyranitar could also be considered due to the clip in the battle between him and Red on Mt. Silver in the Pokémon Special Music Video Acacia by Bump of Chicken. The clip is I believe around 1:15 to 1:19 of the said video. 🙂 But, I think, your list for him is already good enough as it points out all the good points of Johto as well. Maybe Umbreon for Espeon.
Since Pokemon masters has been used as a point of reference several times, Red has an Articuno so that could be his legendary Pokemon, and Ethan has Lugia. Suicune could be another option since it’s part of the storyline for Ethan.
I think May (or Brendan) should have a Castform or Kecleon. Castform is a mandatory gift, and Kecleon is an obstacle Pokémon (also mandatory) Having both would be too much overlap in types, so I'd pick Castform to represent the Weather theme the Hoenn games had Edit: Also, Red's team is perfect but I'd like to highlight some other Pokémon that he canonically has access to: - Either Omastar or Kabutos - Either Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan - Aerodactyl - Electrode (Power Plant static encounters) - Legendary Birds (static encounters) - Mewtwo, arguably (depends on the timeline I guess. He catches Mewtwo in Pokémon Origins, but Mewtwo's catcheable in XY as well so I don't know...)
Aerodactyl is optional, just like Eevee, else you can also make the argument to let Red catch a Spearow early on to trade it for the Farfetch'd. However, i totally agree that Gift Pokemon and Static encounters should 100% be on a Protagonist team, either as a main or in rotation. You can also make the argument for the early route bird/mammal as well. Thats actually a funny thing, if we think about it. For Ethan, that means getting a Tyrogue/Hitmontop as well, since its a gift if you defeat a trainer. For May/Brendan... Wynaut is a gift egg, so it should be on the team as well. You can actually make the argument against Beldum as well, since you don't get it until after you became champion. Dawn (Lucas) - Starter, Togekiss (Egg from Cynthia in Platinum), Glaceon/Leafeon, Blissey (Happiny egg), Porygon-Z (Platinum) and Lucario (From Riley). Hilbert (Hilda) -Starter, Elemental Monkey (The one that is weak against the starter), Carracosta/Archeops, Volcarona, Crustle, Darmanitan Nate (Rosa) - Starter, Zoroark, Sawsbuck, Blissey, Carracosta/Archeops, Dratini/Gible Serena (Calem) - Kalos Starter, Kanto Starter, Tyrantrum/Aurorus, Snorlax, Lucario, Lapras, Xerneas/Yveltal Elio (Selene) - Starter, Eevee, Rampardos/Bastiodon/Carracosta/Archeops, Aerodactyl, Solgaleo/Lunala, Totems (USUM), Poipole Chase (Elaine) - Pikachu/Eevee, Kabutops/Omastar, Blastoise, Charizard, Venusaur, Persian/Arcanine (Depending on the version), Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan, Snorlax, Lapras, Porygon Gloria (Victor) - Starter, Pikachu/Eevee, Toxtricity, Dracozolt/Arctozolt/Dracovish/Arctovish. If we count Isle of Armor - Squirtle/Bulbasaur, Urshifu, Galarian Slowpoke, the Alolan Forms, Alola Starters
Ironically I’m making a Dawn play through in platinum but it’s a mix of the anime and the original games, so Clefable, Typlosion, Empoleon, Togekiss, Aimbipom, Mamoswine
Nate team will be :
- Emboar
- Lucario
- Arcanine
Those first 3 are there because it's the Pokemon that he used in anime publicity that we had when Black 2 and White 2 was out.
Then the rest of his team his :
- N's Zoroark a gift pokemon of the story
- Braviary a static encounter that we can have in Route 4
- Reshiram, N give his Reshiram to the protag in the post-game.
We can argue that the protagonist also used :
Cinccino and Volcarona a static accounter from the games.
And also maybe the legendary Sword of Justice.
But I don't think it will fits the protag personnally
He has Braviary as his partner in Masters so that checks out!
Excellent job!! This all makes great sense
And a shiny Haxorus
👍
Nate used lucario in pokémon generation so
I think Umbreon is a better fit for Ethan for two reasons, first, match the color of Ethan cap, and night timw was the "new time", (also is an contraposition of Red's Espeon)
Ahhh I really like this idea as well!
Was thinking the same thing
Absolutely.
Espeon gives Red some type diversity, and since Gold defeats him, we can assume Umbreon was there to counter the psychic type.
Also shows off one of the 2 new typing, and is likely the only dark type one would use since the others are too late in the game (and given Johto's ridiculous difficulty curve lol, picking up a Houndour, Murkrow, and especially Tyranitar or Sneasel via Mt Silver uggh)
Yeah I agree for the same reasons
For Gold I always pictured he evolved his Eevee into Umbreon as a counter and counterpart to Reds Espeon
Yep
I'd honestly just look at their manga teams for each protag
Some of the manga teams are busted play-through teams.
@@ChengHorn9
Are they? Cz usually the protags don't have legendaries as permanent team members, and more like a 7th member for the climax
@@chrisf.9595 I said some. Red's and Black's teams are good in game, but others like Gold and Yellow are terrible.
@@ChengHorn9
Didn't read BW arc so I wouldn't know
@@chrisf.9595 it was emboar, braviary, musharna, galvantula, carracosta, and reshiram
This. It's the "fourth" starter for me
Genuinely embarrassed that I forgot Ampharos somehow! It probably makes most sense to switch him with Donphan or Sudowoodo, then
Funnily enough, you can ONLY obtain Mareep in Gold and HeartGold
Edit: ups turns out you cannot obtain it only on Crystal
I’ve never used it
@@drjayson i would have figured espeon would go, because we are guaranteed that ethan runs into both donphan (from the anime) and sudowudo (from the barrier), while espeon is a guesspeon
Gold not having ampharos is a wild take
Hard disagree on Gen 3, the anime and games are seperate realities, in Pokémon Masters we learn that Brendan is canonically Norman's son and starts with a Treecko
Gen 3 protagonist canonically gets a Castform (Weather Institute) and Kecleon (the “obstacle along the way” for Gen 3)
Ewww lmao
Na, they stay in the box
Castform is forced onto you, while you are not forced to catch a Kecleon
For me, I will be going off the Rival battle locations and picking a Pokemon that can only be found at or near the area.
Route 103 - Sceptile / Blaziken (Could also include Swampert, but avoided due to inclusion of final Pokemon in my rule)
Route 104 / Rustboro - Slaking (Could be Breloom, avoided due to Type overlap with either Sceptile or Blaziken)
Route 110 - Swalot
Route 119 - Castform (Could be Tropius or Milotic)
Lilycove City - Starmie
Post Game - Latias / Latios (First Post Game mission given to you after entering the Hall of Fame for the first time)
Bro gave Hilbert too many fire types lmaoo
I agree.
"Trust me bro"
- his source for any of these teams
Ethan definitely has:
Typhlosion (Most seen and associated starter)
Ampharos (Pretty much mandatory for Johto)
Umbreon (Gift from Bill)
Scizor (Bug catching contest)
Red Gyarados/Kingdra (Mandatory encounter vs what he's been seen with in official media)
Tyranitar/Togekiss (Pseudo-legendary or the gift egg)
In crystal, heartgold and soulsilver, he is gifted a Dratini, and I believe he evolved it into a Dragonite and used it on his team
5:09 "gift pokemon" it's event-exclusive in black/white and the picture shows an in-game event which is only doable in the postgame because it requires event shiny legendary beasts (and national pokedex)... the only other way to get zorua in black/white requires event celebi so it's also locked to the postgame. zorua is a gift pokemon in black 2/white 2 but these games have different protagonists
Edit: Zen Mode Darmantian is also technically locked to the postgame as it requires Rage Candy Bar to awaken, and you receive the first one from professor juniper after defeating ghetsis (Royal Unova only starts gifting them in the postgame as well)... Volcarona is also locked to the postgame (I'm not even gonna count the Larvesta gift Pokemon considering how weak it is and how late it evolves) SO you've left Hilbert with only two Pokémon to go through the entire Unova region... -.-
Now go back to your roots, and draw all of these Pokémon (bonus points if they’re with their trainer)
I want to do more drawing in my long form videos so this isn’t a terrible idea
@@drjayson W
While we have good ol' Red showing off that Pikachu, Gloria and Juliana are like: "No, screw this. It's two legendaries and I want anyone to come and say some shit."
I legally cannot consider Incineroar canon to the protagonist in gen 7 simply because he fits Professor Kukui and his alter ego far too well for him to have either of the other starters.
He can just have his personal incineroar
Given how you used Pokémon Masters as a basis for some of these, Rosa would technically be the protagonist of B2W2 instead of Nate. This actually gives us some stuff to go off of for her team.
Serperior (the only starter Rosa has been shown using in... basically all of the spin-off media)
Delibird (from one of her holiday variants)
Meloetta (her Neo Champion variant)
And then we can fill out some other ones from gifts and static encounters.
Zoroark (gift)
Reshiram (since Hilbert has Zekrom)
Either Shiny Garchomp or Shiny Dragonite (a gift egg from Benga)
I dunno about Nate, but Rosa's team would probably be:
Serperior (Because of Pokémon Masters EX & the trailer for BW2)
Ampharos
Cinccino (static encounter)
Mandibuzz (static encounter)
N's Zoroark
Azumarill
That elio's team, both the art and the team itself is just cheff's kiss, i had to pause the video just to stare at it for a little moment
It’s genuinely such a nice looking team (and art!) I want to play through USUM with these fellas!
7:32 I love Alola so much and this team is simply amazing
I want to do a run of USUM with this team!!!
Same with Sun! Not ultra
1:25 rip green/blue/leaf
Not to nitpick, but lapras is also an optional gift pokemon.
I think Mewtwo would better than Lapras as Reds last Pokemon since Red canonically catches the Mewtwo in Cerulean Cave.
Glad someone finished this video idea
I remember someone only getting up to sinnoh 😢
I couldn’t find ANYONE online that did every generation, so I decided to do it myself
oh lord i was watching the video while my switch was running legends arceus and when the shiny sound effect popped i almost fell from the chair 😩
OOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
This is so funny, I’m so sorry 😭😭🤣
Elio actually makes sense not having a incineroar because kukui has it as mister royale.
This gave my brain a jolt.....gonna slowly do shorts on protagonist, rivals etc dream teams.....(my version 😅) that seems fun.
So glad you share the sentiment! Topics like this just activate my neurons idk
If you ask me then Nate's team will be Emboar, Lucario, Zoroark, Braviary, Haxorus, Beartic and finally Zekrom so let know how was it
Cool video! No comments here as I haven't played the games, but this was a fun watch :)
That’s so kind of you! I appreciate you watching and supporting regardless 😁❤️
I was going to mention Nate's team but @mimiquoi7380 already did the best answer to that
8:28 LOVE that you randomly added this classic epic song
You should make a second part to this video with the other characters like green, brendan etcetera
Great video! Something that wasn’t covered in the video or people’s comments is the Pokémon the Emerald protagonist has in the opening cutscene, being Torchic, Manetric and Flygon. For May’s team I suggest:
Blaziken
Manetric
Flygon
Kecleon (roadblock encounter)
Metagross (gift from Steven)
Latias (ORAS)
Here are a few of my takes for anyone that cares
- Yeah, I think it makes sense to mention Red’s Mt.Silver team as his canon final team, but I think it would be fair to assume that his Let’s go team was his canon team when we ventured through the Kanto region.
- the above logic translates to Green/Leaf. Her let’s go team makes sense (I know she isn’t in this video)
- like many others have said, umbreon fits Gold a lot more than espeon (potential counterpart to Red’s espeon)
- It makes more sense for Brendan to be Norman’s son and May to be Birch’s daughter purely based on physical resemblance.
Dawn getting that boring and generic ass team is so fitting. Hate it tho fr
Nice video... i love that kind of content... i hope more videos like that... maybe girls and rivals...
Thank you so much! Already been writing up similar follow-up videos 😁
I didn’t even knew Ash fought Gold
1:05 Gen 5 fans are worse now
You know I always made a head cannon joke in my head that every Pokémon protagonist most probably had a psuedo legendary and legendary on their team since psuedo legendaries AND legendaries have appeared in every game just like their starter pokemons so it would make since if they had at least one on their team ALSO I am betting that most of the Pokémon protagonist caught pokemons that WERE FROM THERE REGION and no other Pokémon from a past generation so yeah
Congratulations on the 100k+ views. This is your most successful video yet.
imao for red Espeon should take the final spot. His Eevee/Espeon had a huge role in the manga
Red:
Charizard (because Blue would DEFINITELY get Blastoise)
Pikachu (duh)
Lapras (gift Pokémon)
Snorlax (because Pokéflute)
Hitmonchan (from the dojo)
Flareon/Vaporeon/Jolteon (can be any, since he already has all three types)
Ethan:
Typhlosion (neither he nor Silver would pick Chikorita)
Togetic (from the egg)
Ampharos (popular choice, plus Jasmine has one)
Sudowoodo (the one that blocks the road)
Shiny Gyarados (Lake of Rage)
Unown (Ruins of Alph)
May:
Blaziken (because anime)
Gardevoir (Wally has one, so why not you?)
Tentacruel (very common, and you need to Surf)
Cradily (desert fossil, and you need a grass type against all the water Pokémon)
Castform (Weather Institute)
Latias/Latios (because ORAS)
Dawn:
Torterra (Barry having a Chimchar just makes too much sense)
Bibarel (HM slave)
Luxray (because you have good taste)
Togekiss (egg from Cynthia)
Rapidash (because you need a counter for Team Galactic's Bronzors, and there are no other fire types)
Drifblim (Valley Windworks)
Hilbert:
Samurott (Cheren with Serperior and Bianca with Emboar makes most sense)
Simisear (Dreamyard)
Archeops (Relic Castle, no Carracosta since you already have a water type)
Zoroark (gift Pokémon)
Amoonguss (fake Pokéballs on route 6)
Reshiram (counter N's ideals with the truth)
Serena:
Greninja (one of the most popular Pokémon)
Charizard (because Gamefreak has a bias)
Snorlax (because Pokéflute)
Lapras (gift Pokémon, yes I'm aware half of this team is Red's, X and Y is weird like that)
Lucario (from Korrina)
Tyrantrum (fossil from the scientist, more likely than Aurorus)
Elio:
Decidueye (because Incineroar fits Kukui so well!)
Alolan Raticate (caught at the first trial)
Lycanroc (because version differences)
Aerodactyl (gift Pokémon)
Salazzle (you needed a fire type, also you caught a male Salandit first and got really cosfused)
Lunala (you're not going to bench Nebby!)
Gloria:
Inteleon (Hop with Cinderace works well)
Dubwool (because you fell in love with Wooloo)
Toxtricity (from the daycare)
Ninetales (caught in Motostoke gym)
Zacian (because plot, and the shield fits Hop better when he learns he's never going to beat you)
Urshifu (DLC)
Either character from Scarlet and Violet, they both look generic as hell:
Meowscarada (feels like the canon choice)
Armarouge (because it is awesome)
Palafin (for the Zero to Hero plot twist)
Gholdengo (Gimmighoul is literally everywhere!)
Koraidon (because the orange pants look better on everyone)
Ogerpon (DLC)
Red’s team is based on yellow, so I think him having all 3 starters is ok
However if it’s only 1 starter, you could go with either Charizard (because of Origins) or Venusaur (because of the manga)
I don't think you can get zoroark as gift on bw anymore
@@Yagami2355 you can with the DNS trick
@@RayoMcQueen95990DNS trick? Please tell me more
Hilbert's Zekrom is canon and counters N's vision of truth with Reshiram. N thinks pokémon and humans needs to be separated in order to coexist for the benefit of pokémon and that's his truth, but Hilbert proves it wrong by showing that pokémon and humans can live together (an ideal world).

@@Filiscool47 these are cool! I recon Red and Green/ Leafs team would just be their let’s go teams, especially seeing as chase and elain are considered
The next question would be: Which protag would win in a merry go around tournament.
Holy hell the Swablu with those big honking eyebrows is adorbssssss
AW thank you so much ^^🩷
super entertaining upload, thank you so much for the video!! Please keep it up :3
Thank YOU so much for supporting 😁❤️
Actually.. they have official teams in the Manga (Pokemon Special) for example Black (or Hilbert) has in the end of the manga Braviary, Musharna, Emboar, Galvantula, Carracosta and Reshiram
This is the games though (Else Red should have Poliwrath as a main).
I’d swap out Ethan’s Espeon for Umbreon, just to show off that new Dark Typing
The only Pokémon games I haven’t played are sun and moon, are they worth playing?
Sooo... to me it's quite obvious it's an Umbreon in Ethan's team.
Staraptor just had the raw energy and that's cool to have.
7:17 the sudden hostility in his voice LMAO “neiTHER” 😂😭
nate/Rosa's team... that is kinda a hard challenge
ok, here is the team i think:
Samurott: Celebrity bias.
Interesting and in my Opinion, All Trainer's Starters & some Pokemon in Games are perfect fit for them like...
Red: Charizard & Pikachu
Leaf: Venusaur & Eevee
Gary: Blastoise
Ethan: Typhlosion
Lyra: Meganium & Marill

I'll go over my options for canon starter teams based on the video games. This will be a bit of a list as my list consists of canon teams from gen 2+:
Gold:
Typlosion (starter)
Togetic/Togekiss (Togepi egg)
Sudowoodo (obstacle like Snorlax)
Hitmontop (Tyrogue gift from Mt mortar)
Dragonite (Dratini gift from Dragon master)
Jolteon (Eevee gift/team balance; Johto representation swap for Espeon)
Brendan:
Sceptile (assumed main character of the story with May the rival choosing her anime starter)
Wobbufett (Wynaut egg)
Castform (Weather institute gift)
Kecleon (invisible obstacle)
The following can be chosen accordingly and can be swapped depending on the villain teams fought and if the legendary is aquired:
Latios (joins team in oras)
Camerupt (Team magma gift)
Sharpedo (Team Aqua gift)
May:
Blaziken (Anime inspiration)
The following is taken from her rival team in oras:
Swellow
Raichu
Breloom
Wailord
The last is present in all her final teams in emerald:
Tropius
Lucas (not including dawn since she has (mostly) her anime team in BDSP):
Torterra (assumed main character of the story with Dawn as the professor's assistant choosing her anime starter)
Drifblim (Drifloon event at Valley Windworks)
Lucario (Riley egg)
Togekiss (Togepi egg from Cynthia in Platinum)
Spiritomb (after doing the underground tasks)
Porygon-Z (Porygon gift in platinum near Galactic headquarters)
Hilbert:
Emboar (this is in consideration with the rivals' chosen pokemon to better fit them, Snivy for Bianca and Oshawatt for Cheren)
Simsage (pansear gift near dreamyard)
Zoroark (two of the "same" gift pokemon if you do proper events)
Volcarona (similar to Zoroark, but without using events)
Darmamitan (catchable zen mode in the desert)
Reshiram/Zekrom (self expanitory)
(this is almost identical to this video but with less fire types if you keep Generatons's zekrom)
Nate:
Emboar (similar to Hilbert, reflected for the choice of the rival, I dont see Hugh willingly picking a snivy no matter his kind personality)
Deerling (gift pokemon on route 6)
Jellicent (Undella bay static encounter)
Braviary (Route 4 static encounter, fits better than mandibuzz)
Crustle (catchable through events at seaside cave)
Zoroark (N's Zorua given to him)
Reshiram/Zekrom are NOT mandatory to catch before battling the champion
Calem:
Chesnaught (assumed main character of the story with Serena the rival choosing her anime starter)
Lucario (Korrina's gift to the player)
Tyrantrum (Jaw fossil revived during the storyline)
The following are based on similar events to Red that go on through the story:
Snorlax
Lapras
Charizard (X)
Xerneas/Yveltal won't be included even though they are necessary for battling Lysandre (minimal plot relivance); I will assume after the battle the legendary is allowed to go back to the wild
Serena:
This team is based on her final rival team in X Y:
Delphox
Absol
Jolteon
Meowstic
Altaria
Clefable
Ellio:
Half the team will be based on the demo and added pokemon throughout the entire generation:
Greninja
Lycanrok (dusk)
Melmetal (technically unobtainable, but this reflects the final pokemon added in gen 7)
The final half are ride pokemon given to you:
Mudsdale
Machamp
Charizard
Below I will begin using both the male/female protagonists no matter what with the introduction of dimensions and universes
Selene:
Primarina (similar to other starters, personality ties into this decision, the "female" pokemon is given to the female character, Hau and Kukui will mostly likely personally choose Litten and Rowlet respectively)
Exeggutor (catchable on Exeggutor Island)
Sylveon (Eevee given to you in the ranch)
The following are ridable pokemon given to you in Alola:
Tauros
Stoutland
Nebby (your box legendary that you will bond with and get by the end of the game, I personally would choose Lunala for Selene)
Victor:
Cinderace (mirrors Goh in the anime)
Toxtricity (given to you by the daycare, this would be the low-key form)
Sandaconda (Silicobra plays a minor part in the team yell storyline)
Galarian Slowking (through adventuring the entire DLC)
Venasaur (gift from the dojo)
Gloria:
Most of this team is based off being opposites of Victor's team:
Inteleon (made with the "starter trio decisions", Hop with Rillaboom, Victor with Cinderace, Gloria with Inteleon)
Toxtricity (Amped form)
Galarian Slowbro
Blastoise
Vespiquen (she plays a part in the Max Honey section of the Isle of Armor)
Ninetales (a good addition to her team, Vulpix is catchable in Kabu's gym challenge)
We will not include the 3 catchable legendaries (Kubfu/Zacian or Zamazenta/Eternatus) for the gen 8 protagonists, this will completely break the team and no normal person in their universes would use a team half legendaries)
Juliana:
Meowscarada (based on Liko)
Oinkklogne (Lechonk is iconic, the first catchable Pokemon and works good as a counterpart to Florian when using gender "forms", hers will be female)
Alolan Exeggutor (you need to catch an alolan pokemon in Blueberry academy)
Ariados (catchable in kitakami through the ursaluna storyline)
Perserker (a gift pokemon from the school)
Ogerpon (main character and forced catch in the teal mask)
Florian:
Skeledirge (based on Roy)
Oinkolgne (this is where the forms come in, male form)
Alolan Muk (you need to catch an alolan pokemon in Blueberry academy, not gonna repeat exeggutor)
Terapagos (the last pokemon you will catch in the entire dlc)
The following are obtainable after completing Perrin's quest:
Ursaluna (bloodmoon)
Arcanine (Hisuian)
Koraidon and Miraidon technically do not need to be included for Florian and Juliana as they are a travel companion that takes up the "7th slot" within the games' mechanics
Nate’s Team:
Emboar - Shown in Black 2/ White 2 trailer
Simisage - Since he has Emboar
Arcanine - Can be caught early on in either game and is also shown in Black 2/ White 2 trailer
Galvantula - Player most likely catches something in Chargestone cave and galvantula is most likely since the next gym is flying.
Did you not see reds team in the hall of fame in pokemon origins?
@@trapez77 AH SHOOT dude this is such a good idea for a reference- disappointed that I failed to mention it
If red didn’t have all three starters, I think a great team for him would be:
Charizard (the starter that fits him the most)
Pikachu (it’s pikachu)
Snorlax (Most consistent non-starter pokemon)
Lapras (Gift from Silph co)
Machamp (Let’s Go, Serves as the Brawn to Blue’s alakazam’s brains)
Aerodactyl (Manga)
I would give Red Venasaur since his starter was bulbasaur (as I know it wasn't his first Pokemon)
That’s in the manga and let’s go, in other continuities his starter is charmander
Rei in Legends literally gets the creation trio and Arceus how could You skip him
For Rei, he technically needs EVERY Pokemon in Hisui to catch Arceus, so he reaaally could have anything.
@@drjayson true but getting Arceus was special It's the final quest of the game. Also the only trainer with that many legendaries
My canon team for the Pokemon protagonists I played
Red in Yellow Version
Pikachu
Charizard
Venusaur
Blastoise
Eevee (I kept it an Eevee throughout the game, even while battling the Elite four and Blue with it to reflect the fact that it will become Espeon 3 years later)
Snorlax
Lapras (But I use it only for the move Surf and to reflect the fact that Red became popular in Johto as the boy riding a Lapras (A song about him and Lapras was written), and he will use it in battles in Black 2, White 2 and Sun, Moon, UltraSun, UltraMoon instead of Espeon)

Bro the d-riding for Fire Types is astounding
@@mythos6308 not only fire types, regional birds and pseudo legendaries too 😅
3:54 I never used any of these Pokemon in my original Pearl playthrough. I've never even used a Staraptor before in any Pokemon game, including fan ones.
Genuinely curious: what was your first sinnoh team?
May's Team:
-Blaziken (her starter)
-Altaria (ORAS Animated Trailer & Evolution)
-Aggron (Evolution)
-Loppuny (Masters EX)
-Audino (ORAS Animated Trailer)
-Latias (ORAS Animated Trailer & Masters EX
If we're matching the player experience, in Pokemon white, were gonna ditch the monkey as soon as we beat the first gim and take the early bird and a Zebstrika that is ditched later by zekrom's entrance
Brendan in the animé is seen with a Swampert, a Shiftry, an Aggron, and a Rhyperior (or Rhydon since we're in gen 3).
His Shiftry is in a Repeat Ball, and Aggron in a Luxury Ball (the kind of ball you can get only once in RSE without trades btw)
I think the canon team for Nate should be
Samurott (It’s his starter in the Manga)
Simisear (When not the player character, Nate/Rose have the elemental money weak to their starter)
Crustle (Around 3 different times the player has to wake up some Crustle blocking the way to progress)
Zoroark (Your given a Zorua for the story of B2W2)
Sawsbuck (The gift Deerling with it’s hidden ability)
Braviary (In W2 you can find a wild Braviary as a static encounter in the desert route)
I feel nate fits way better with emboar and he is sometimes shown with him
Pokemon Masters is probably a good way to do this but personally Ive always looked at the Adventures manga for this kind of thing.
Brendan:
Rayquaza
Sceptile
Aggron
Latios
Rhydon
Deoxys
Red:
Pikachu
Charizard
Lapras
Snorlax
Dragonite
Mewtwo
May:
Blaziken
Beautifly
Altaria
Swampert
Latias
Kyogre
Leaf/Green:
Venusaur
Nidoqueen
Vaporeon
Blissey
Moltres
Mew
For anyone interested to see them in battle check it out! ruclips.net/video/IxlWReSGAzY/видео.html
I love how unique you mad ethese teams, taking the anime and player's experience into account. However, wouldn't Calem's/Serena's last team member be Xerneas or Yveltal? Like in BW, you are required to catch it. As for Nate/Rosa, the team I could see him/her using is:
- Emboar
- Lucario
- Arcanine
- Zoroark
- Sawsbuck
- Keldeo
This is true! I kinda forgot you had to catch them as well. Plus, I couldn’t find anything to determine whether X or Y would be considered the canon story-
Red (alternate team):
Charizard (Mega Charizard X) - Pokemon Masters and Pokemon Origins
Pikachu
Snorlax
Espeon
Articuno - Red has an Articuno in Pokemon Masters
Lapras - with only one kanto starter, Red has room for his other water type to be on his team
I personally would have given Red an Espeon because of the type overlap Lapras has with Blastoise, but I completely understand your reasoning, giving him the Lapras. I personally would have given Ethan an Umbreon to contrast more with Red's Espeon.
Lapras and Blastoise look powerful together, Umbreon doesnt seem to have a deep connection that Lapras has
@@mattparke4370 Please explain more
9:10 oh so now you finally acknowledge the existence of the pokemon manga?
What would the Canon Teams for Wes & Michael look like?
For Wes, I could see this team:
Espeon
Umbreon
Plusle (Gift from Duking)
Feraligatr (Wes' Counterpart in a separate Manga, Leo in the Manga owns Feraligatr) or Skarmory (Which would be Snagged from Gonzap in game)
Meganium (Which Wes owns in the Manga)
Ludicolo (Manga Wes also has a Ludicolo)
However, you do get a choice in Johto Starters while in Phenac between Bluno's Croconaw, Roso's Quilava & Verde's Bayleef; all of which are Shadow Pokémon.
For Colosseum, I used:
Espeon
Umbreon
Typhlosion
Quagsire
Ampharos
Flygon
While in Gale Of Darkness, my final team was:
Jolteon
Houndoom
Mightyena
Xatu
Sandslash
Dewgong
I was also using Sharpedo & Shiftry for a short while.
10 minute DrJayson video lets goooooooo
I grant you one video for a meal 🙏
For Ethan, Ampharos and Tyranitar could also be considered due to the clip in the battle between him and Red on Mt. Silver in the Pokémon Special Music Video Acacia by Bump of Chicken. The clip is I believe around 1:15 to 1:19 of the said video. 🙂
But, I think, your list for him is already good enough as it points out all the good points of Johto as well. Maybe Umbreon for Espeon.

I think Gold would have a Dragonite. You're gifted one in Dragon's den and even tho it's not mandatory it's still a good pick
How does may get a pseudo and a legendary but the previous two generations dont get either
Castform is a mandatory gift, and Kecleon is an obstacle Pokémon (also mandatory)
Having both would be too much overlap in types, so I'd pick Castform to represent the Weather theme the Hoenn games had
Edit: Also, Red's team is perfect but I'd like to highlight some other Pokémon that he canonically has access to:
- Either Omastar or Kabutos
- Either Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan
- Aerodactyl
- Electrode (Power Plant static encounters)
- Legendary Birds (static encounters)
- Mewtwo, arguably (depends on the timeline I guess.

Ironically I’m making a Dawn play through in platinum but it’s a mix of the anime and the original games, so Clefable, Typlosion, Empoleon, Togekiss, Aimbipom, Mamoswine
