  • Mini excavator track tension - How to adjust your track tension on a mini excavator. I'm tightening the tracks on my Kubota KX91, this process is pretty much the same for all mini excavators. I'm using my new Milwaukee grease gun 2646-20 for the first time. I discuss proper tension and how I lift my excavator.

I have a Kx057-5 and I do one side at a time. My service manual shows to put the 8 on the center idler wheel and half inch gap.

I think the reason many lift one side at a time is because larger excavators don't have the stabilizer blade so you cannot do both sides.

That makes sense, I've only operated up to a 10 ton which had the blade. Now that I'm thinking about it the larger ones I do see don't have blades like you said. Thanks for watching the commenting!

I think the reason to lift each side each is you put less strain on the hydrolics. it's no fun when a hydrolics pipe bursts. I didn't know about the thing about putting the seam at the top, thanks for that

Good info. To the point. I thought the 8 indicator was supposed to be at the top idler myself but I could be wrong? Also I don't know how important it is for placement but I have thrown a track once on my mini and it wasn't too bad to get back on. Better loose than too tight. Can't speak on the Milwaukee grease gun - I have the dewalt cordless gun and I'm happy with it. Good video!

Thank you, the distance between the idler and the sprocket is pretty close anyway so anywhere in the vicinity is probably fine. Thanks for watching and the comment!
