- Putting a thrown track back on the E50 mini excavator. Each brand of equipment releases the track tension in a slightly different way but they are all pretty similar.

Saved my bacon! Was able to watch this video and get the track back on. At midnight. In a swampy field. Alone. Thanks! 👍🏻
Great video, after watching this, I was able to put the tack back on in minutes.Thank you.
Not sure if the account is active anymore. But I wanted to thank you. I don’t do anything about this stuff and your video helped me get the tracks back on quickly, can’t thank you enough.
Perfect explanation
Haha! I've never seen tracks that clean and I swear there's 30 min of wrestling with the track missing. Thanks Dirt Ninja! We always spin the track with the pry bars stuck in and hope nobody's bowels get spilled. Next time I'll try a more chilled safe approach.
Did this on my E45 this summer, had no idea how to do it until I found a video similar to yours on youtube.
cheers for the video m8, just had this happen to me so looks like a fairly easy fix.
Good job!
Awesome! Bless you for making this video. Thanks for helping my boyfriend this weekend. :)
Thanks, this was super helpful!
If you are alone a 2" yellow ratchet strap is handy to pull the track over the idler wheel. Just be careful not to roll the track too far ahead and snap the strap.
Good tip!
Brilliant. Last name is wildy appropriate
Thank you, sir! Handy tip on Memorial Day weekend!! 😅
good times! usually this is on Friday around 4pm and its on the 25 ton machine with the big ass swamp pads! god this can ruin a day
tt

@@thederrick1966 bro it's the worst with metal tracks.
4pm on a Friday here lol
Let way more grease out. Push the idler wheel in more with your bucket. Then keep your bucket to the outside then lift and turn into it. Works everytime.
Thanks. I've recently bought a Bobcat E45, so that's could to know
Well done what a poxy day for that to happen ,well done thanks for showing us .greetings from Wales UK.
Good video, thanks. Track came off digger twice today, have to put on ourselves tomorrow as Hire people are off.

this video saved my life.
Cheers mate. This video just saved my ass!
Great instructions. My husband and I got the track back on first try with these tips. Thank you so much
did you use a standard grease gun when tensioning? if so how long did it take to retension using a standard grease gun? cheers
You saved the day!
Thanks for the vid saved our butts
It's amazing what a tube of grease can do
I know, pretty simple
I put a chain around top of track 2' behind idler. hook up a come along off blade edge on the opposite side of that track. Tighten up and spin track. Once it gets to the point where cable is getting tight, stop, loosen bring the come along down under the blade assembly and tighten back up, this allows you to keep side pressure on the track so you can keep idler in the groove as you advance. One person can do it pretty easily. Probably wont work so well with newer tracks but if they are stretched a bit you usually have enough play in them.
i did something very similar, worked great!
My man thank you
As always great and helpful video....how recent was this shot? Just wondering how the digging was for you, I'm up in Portland and may have a couple of jobs that can be done this winter, but didn't prep them last fall so curious about frost.
It was shot just before Christmas. Only had about 2" of frost in the ground at that time. We have a good 1.5-2ft in the ground now.
Awesome man, thanks! You are the Ninja!! I'm going to learn a lot, I'm about to order my new machine and start my new video series of me learning how to use it!! (You will be the main instructor :) (I'm sure there will be a lot of laughs on me, but that's ok, I can handle it) . Thanks for all the help too on checking out machines. I almost went with the cat 305, but after a few more comparisons I think my best pick is still a bobcat (a lot of different reasons went into the decision), but after you suggested it I did go and check out a 304 and 305 cat(s). Even had a heck of a price negotiated... Thank you! Kapper
Dirt Ninja is apt. Fella how do you work with such a mess? Clean yer work place up!!
Thankyou for your education videos - just come back from a job in a very remote location - ( Scottish equivalent of deep Alaska! ) where I had to do a quick checkover on all the machines - 2 with rubber tracks. So I've gleaned some useful tips - quicker than after reading the books which I always do where available. BUT but but, Why didn't you clean the dirt from around that inspection panel hole before you started. I HATE getting down & dirty on these jobs - nothing worse than gritty STICKY grease! >> Could someone PLEASE make a video on how to wipe off sticky grease from your fingers & tools !
I go idler first on to top roller t then on to sprocket using teeth to bite in and pull track on
It looks like my grease fittiNf is pointing up how can u fix this? 328 model
Excellent video, what caused it to come off.?
A rock or some frozen dirt wedged it off, Im not exactly sure
Dirt Ninja being a lil Dirt cowboy that's how!
Putting the track back on my Bobcat E35 is easy, when I was young, I ran a 245 CAT. Putting a track back on a 140,000 lb. excavator is a little more challenging.
I'm having a tough time getting mine back on. any tricks? like remove the top idler roller?
champ
The grease keeps on coming out what do I do?
Have you ever put a track on a john Deere 450 lc excavator
Good video, and good info spot on for putting the track back on. I purchased a Lincoln 18volt grease gun and worth every penny, makes greasing a quick job. And are you going to any of the Florida auctions next month ???
Thanks,
Glad you liked it! Yea i need to get a Lincoln grease gun, its on my list for the spring. No i wont be at the auctions.
I have a Milwaukee 18volt grease gun and in my opinion it's better than the Lincoln. About $50 more but worth it. It has a pimp counter and flashlight
*pump counter.
*****
lol
***** That sound like a better one than my Lincoln, and I like the idea of the flashlight, I have not seen the Milwaukee yet, a couple of my friends have the Lincoln so that's what I went with, will check it out thou.
Thanks
the joys of putting a track back on
Yup and it always happens right when you want it to, in a really good spot... haha
Dirt Ninja
last track we had come out was on our 330L
*****
I bet that was fun to get back on!
Dirt Ninja
tell you what I learned a few new cuss words
that why i perfera battery powered grease gun lol
I use bucket to fit tracks
What ever happened to bobcat ninja???
This was a baby slip. I've had to put tracks back on completely knocked off tracks twice in the last week. Lol. Def not a big deal here. Tip: use a jack to compress the tensioner instead of a breaker bar.
About how long does it take to remove all the grease? What about regreaseing it?
5 min to remove, 5 min to re-grease. Its very easy, hard part is getting the track on. Each track on this machine weighs over 1000lbs
How much of the grease tube is used to re-grease the machine?
Dirt King
I'd say about half a tube.
Ok, thanks. Also I am going to start a channel kind of like yours and I would like to know if this name which is just like your if it would need to be changed. If it does, I won't care if I do need to change it. Thanks!
Dirt King
Totally fine with me as long as you don't make a similar logo!
Imagine if he install tracks on his Ferrari and really test it as a tank
Our transport driver had both tracks come off...... Towards the center
Thats impressive, haha
We love our electric grease guns You will never go back to a hand grease gun
Neither one of my machines had covers for the grease port, I actually like that feature, digging horse shit out of the access hole is no kinda fun. My Takeuchi might have had one when it was first born, I got that machine used, but my Kubota never did.
Yea that doesnt sound like fun, haha
Dirt Ninja Yea, not on my top ten. ;-)
And horse manure has a lot of hay in it, so if you work in that a lot, it fills the relief holes, and tossing tracks is fairly common.
You got all that Machine sitting there and your using bars...
Fuck me... I just detracked my e20 and i got it back on by prying up and in with a pipe i found, and using the drive sprocket to pull the track up over the idler... No help or tools other than 2 feet of old steel pipe. Good thing i only have a baby machine or it looks like id be completely fucked because the entire thing popped off and i could barely move it as is...
What are the size of tools needed
well hes actually doing it wrong as its covered in mud he should of had a hose to wash the mud off before tightening the track
When you're out in the middle of who knows where.. running water with a hose is not a option!
You need a cordless grease gun... believe me ..work smart not hard
Takes 6 minutes lol
I don't like this Dirt Ninja! Bobcat ninja was cooler! Smh..
haha, well its still me so hopefully that counts for something!
Saved my ass, thank you
