We're headed back in a few weeks, what do you think our next time will be?
You will run between 11.2 - 11.3 I'm banking on the weather being hotter in a few weaks (Air Density worse) but you may be able to hook a little better and have less transmission issues. However, if you utilize the driver's foglight modification I suggested, you'll run 1/10th quicker. ;-) Good luck!
MAPerformance gotta get that 10.90 for me. Loving this build. Living vicariously through you.
Wish I could be like "ohh blew my motor let me just swap another today"
Prefer these type of videos. Very detailed, very real, no fluff, no secrets. Thanks for sharing this genuine information and video. I’m interested to know why and what is breaking in the transmission. What have you guys replaced and do you guys have those parts available or do you just replace entire trans. Thanks
We will certainly keep everyone updated on social and our blog.
Great detailed video. Congrats on the times
Love that sound in the beginning, lol it kinda sounds like a 2 stroke moto
Good stuff guys! Failures are always the best way to learn. I really appreciate the work you are putting in for the civic x.
Kudos to you guys for figuring out the limits of this car
Keep putting work into this GenX Civics! Huge potential!!
Keep up the hard work, love seeing these update videos!
Thanks for watching!!
Miguel the man. From the bottom up. Love seeing what you do brother.
Sik. Keep it up. Bring it to CA!!! :)
saw this car in person at MAP very nice build
these 1.5t engines are sick but i cant stand the sound compared to old k series
Gabe Clarke literally just wrote a comment saying these things sound like some butt
It actually sounds like a mower again. K series and stainless exhausts stopped that...
Iv driven k series for over 10 years
The sound Sucks
not going to lie but the old K will still be better than these...they are 2.0 2.4l displacement. only motor good out of this batch of xgen are the CTR motor.
vtec dont kick in yo.... 😥
“Nothing crazy” has a list of mods and happens to have a ported head. I’d say that’s crazy
Beautiful 🐲
Dude that thing should be hitting 10s.
Dude that thing can rev.
Love your work...
The authenticity from map is appreciated. Is the driver, the tuner? That's rough
evobusa he’s also the jack man at the end
Above 300 HP these engines GRENADE like crazy.
Its a real waste to see this for such a short period of fun.
good job guys keep up the great work! maybe a lighter driver will help get into the 10s next time
Great video! I have one suggestion. U can utilize the driver side foglight that is for the Honda Sensing unit. It has an opening on it that allows airflow to go through. I have the same setup as your 'cold air intake' tube. Black funnel and all. www.civicx.com/attachments/20190622_153716-jpg.159004/
This is what it looks like with the foglight unit on. www.civicx.com/attachments/20190622_183122-jpg.159009/
Of course u can cut a bigger hole in it. But it'll allow more airflow in than the little holes you have in place.
Please keep up the great work. You guys are the best.
The fourth gear blew out because its the weak point of the transmission the second gear probably took a dive from the Synkro taking a dive because that’s what happens when you use the Clutchmasters clutch kit
Awsom Sauce TV thought these cars had CVTs...
@@MRYZ94 The Si is only 6 speed
"We lost a motor. We're trying to figure out what happened..."
What happened? You tried to boost a tiny 1.5L to 500hp, that's what happened! 😂🤣
They want to see where it breaks.
Purple Heart we all know it can break at any hp 😂
Haha, exactly what i was thinking. You want big HP, use a different motor...
Brook Hamilton but why? It’s already capable of making a lot of power and is more than enough to break hearts of bigger engines.
@@msrr1303 well I mean if you want to be on the verge of blowing your motor and regularly breaking your transmission every time I'm sure you will be able to "break hearts". But those high hp factory motors are going to still run fine tomorrow. That 1.5 is ok for what it is. In all honesty stick with a comfortable 240hp and leave the high hp to the big boys.
The L15 motors been around a while, why not get an old vtec head and then turbo it. Might be fun.
Miguel is the FUCKING MAN!!!
I Just Realise Its Not A Type R And Its Not Engine Swapped
@AOMechMarine AOMechMarine well said
AOMechMarine Except for the fact you can scoop up SI’s all day for around $15k and I haven’t seen a single type R’s for less than $32k. I could buy an si fully build it, make more power, and still have enough money left over to buy a used ex-t for a daily (I’ve found a couple for 7-8k).
@@TurboNFRStwoK damn where you getting all that money from? I'm over living paycheck to paycheck struggling.
@AOMechMarine AOMechMarine they werent built for the drag strip anyways. Thats why honda gave the same hp as previous years. The big difference comes on the track. Its fun and fast on the track. Even the turn key si which is 220 hp beats Ferrari and Lamborghini on the track thats amazing.
@AOMechMarine AOMechMarine do you know what a turn key car is??? Go look it up honda sells it like that
That launch needs some more power. With those kinds of hp numbers, you should see 10's all day with 1.5-1.6 60' times.
Wow....dual clutch gearbox?
Civics: vtec yoooo
Accords: Prepare for the vtec sir
You did 40 drags on a hot day? Seems like a stock Engine wasn't made to do that. That's probably why it blew up.
Great to see you guys back out there! Curious as to why you guys chose to tape off some of the grille vents vs just having them all opened? Does the drag outweigh the increased cooling from the airflow or what was you guys thoughts on that?
Ruben Ayala, I was looking at my civic yesterday and noticed that the passenger side has an opening while the driver side is all closed (stock). It seems that Honda put the horn on the passenger side and opened the honeycomb so that it would meet a decibel requirement. Ideally, I think you would want it all sealed and smooth for drag or 1/2 mile racing, which is why they taped it. On the other side it looks like they opened it up to allow more air to the turbo inlet they made. They can correct me if I am wrong, but that seems to be why after looking over my 10th gen and watching their vid. Cheers
Great question. In all honesty, we do not have any major testing or data proving one way or another on this specific car. That hole currently leads to nothing on our set up, so we chose to block it off based on past experiences and benefits we have seen blocking off open ports on drag cars.
That mph is good for 10s
Ok probably just depends where u at. Im in the midwest. Ohio.
Test n tune
Can’t wait to find out the weak point, I’m guessing the Connecting rods.. Someone blew a motor at 350 HP & it was the connecting rods. He’s on RUclips the Grey si w the canards... What I’ve heard is the 10th gen si has the same connecting rods a CRV has. They can’t withstand high torque.
hondata probs and church tuned is why. Also his motor builder is taking almost 5 months lol which is wayyyy toooo long for a job that should be done quicker
They can handle torque... it's a tiny 1.5L engine... That much torque is ALOT for a 1.5
Purple Heart - I know they can handle torque, but not high amounts... which is why connecting rods fail.. if you over rev an engine, it’ll fail at the rods because of too much torque.. which is twisting force. I think stock my 19 Si (FC1) comes w 238 Torque? I don’t remember honestly I could be way off but.. the engine when it was making 350 hp was making 300+ torque? It lasted until he dragged it. & so far everyone that’s upgraded the engine w stock internals has failed at the rods. Again, these are CRV rods which are made for economy, Less friction or drag & much thinner than say the Type R Rods which are beasts.
Carfacts They did upgrades to the fuel lines, pump rail & injectors i didn’t real all the upgrades in the descr but they also tuned the engine so I don’t see why they would be leaning out. Also if they leaned out they’d melt pistons or something in the combustion’s chamber.. when an engine is starved of fuel.. the metal in the engine acts as a fuel.. and will actually ignite.. i doubt this is what happened.. they did all the proper upgrades.. but I’ll go read the descriptions again to see if they left something out. Since it didn’t seem like that’s what happened. Also they haven’t said anything about what happened w that engine.
They really should have just kept the K24 Engine from the 9th gen Civic Si. Twin cam.. instead of single jingle LB15 i forget what’s the engine code for my FC1 (19 si 4dr)
Carfacts i wouldn’t know honestly someone today at the shop told me the LB IS single. Not twin, &&& it’s a new engine series so no one really knows what’s the potential.. Some people are running insane numbers. &&& today I rode in a 9th gen k24 supercharged si. That thing made 400hp and it was a monster. K24 has more potential it’s been out more, used more tested more. This new engine give it time.
Do you guys think you will offer a built block in the future? Or just the rods and pistons only? I stay on the road alot so for the convenience it would be easier for my situation to buy a short block
Thanks
Absolutely on the table! Would be awesome to offer them in stock if the demand is there.
I think pistons werent cooled off suffuceintly
Is this the same motor in the 2018 accord
That Tall Guy almost identical
I feel like this should be alot quicker 🤔
The fact that these guys are more worried about sound than performance, idgaf about the sound of VTEC when i can get a 1.5 liter turbo and whoop a DOHC 2 Liter motor
Man these new Sis sounds like crap. Bloody fast tho.
i would love to know how the motor was blown
Feel free to check out this video then! ruclips.net/video/BY5P68zlplk/видео.html
0-100 seconds?
The world record right now is 617 horsepower with a 1.5 10th gen si, i will take that over a k series, the older generations care more about VTEC than power, i will take this 10th gen si over the k series, like even the Rsx type s is faster than the 8th gen with 210hp and the 8th gen only puts out 197hp, idc about VTEC im here to win...dont doubt these turbos cus they putting out real numbers
Do you guys ever plan on doing the Type R engine?
Not really in the plans as of right now.
MAPerformance can you guys do this to a 1.5 Honda Accord 1.5t?
Look for Acuity's coupe
WACK !
rrbrooklyn lmao better than your piece of shit bmw 😂
can it turn
its a civic so yes
@@ishitmypantsinacarwheniwas7 cool i'll take 2 please
10.97 Next time out
500hp out of a stock block 1.5L. It probably wasn't going to go 50k miles at 500hp. Not really a surprise your first motor went. Just what it is.
What weight oil are you guys using?
We use 0W20 oil.
@@maperformance Madlads isn't that factory spec?
@@RCXDerp yes it is
Love the car but it sounds horrendous lol
Where’s your Si at?
Hanging out at the shop, race season just starting for us in Minnesota!
I was looking un the comments. Didnt see nearly enough haters. How you gonna be the man without your haters. Except that it doesnt sound like an old k motor. 😒 uuugh sounds like shit. There ya ggo. Ummm.... Ummmm.. Oh yeayh from tge other video. Your dynograph power curve looks like late 90's 1000hp supra curve.
No i said that wrong. Umm the power curve looks like shit. 😉
Oh its a race car with stock interals at 10.3:1 compression. Nevermind then. Ill go find help😆😆
If you don't have haters you aren't doing it right! 😅
Why tiny tires in the back?
Because FWD!
@@maperformance
Lol
Just saying i thought you meant an actual track why dont you just say drag strip.
Hah same
I regret for buying a type r.
@@lllll981 i dont see any type r making 500hp. I should have gotten the si
@@lllll981 you still need more power to keep up. Type r just got beat by megane trophy for the fastest fwd. Also, thats what made honda fun before with the b series. You can do so much to make power. I guess the type r is not, or like you said not a lot of testing done. Maybe ill just wait for more mods to come.
this car cannot compare with a type r
it was specifically set up to go in straight lines
the type r was set up specifically to go fast in corners (Honda doesnt event mention an official 0-60 time)
The new hondas suck...they have made them heavy and limited the performance mods.
Dude. !!!
1.apparently you have type r money.
2. Its a 2.0 sqare engine. You can easily make 500hp. RaceIntercooler bigger turbo injector n map. Oh n up the revs to like 9k rpm range with valves spring n ratainers. Done.
The car is very very fast but the exhaust it’s kind da empty for the performance of your car.
Tiny 1.5 t
Voice over sounds like a women lol
stock axels??? but they put in the shittiest clutch... headslap.
Its not meant to be drag racing. It was given the same hp as previous models but with an lsd and adaptive dampers for the race track. Its much faster on the track then the accord 2.0 and all older si. Thats impressive.
@@Stormtrooper-oc4vn yea i ment the stock axels must be strong as hell to handle 500hp. i have a 2020 civic si sedan. i put coilovers on it already.
@@thump3r hows the coilovers on it
@@Stormtrooper-oc4vn i love how smooth they are with the added stiffness. some may hate it but i love it. much more planted then stock. also car looks gorgeous lowered imo.
God these cars sound like ass. I own one and miss my mazdaspeed 3 which is objectively worse in every other way.
