Thank you for making this. I've had my FC1 since Nov. of 2018 and I love it. Currently have the PRL Cobra (street), no flash or tune, stock clutch and have it lowered on the Swift Spec R lowering springs, on Konig Dekagrams and a 3" gReddy DD-R exhaust system that sounds like pure ricey magic. I also have the only Skunk2 part I've been able to find being their universal weighted shift knob lol. This is the 3rd Si I have owned and while it's not my favorite, as that spot is reserved for my beloved and bereaved EG, it is by far the most comfortable while still being fun version of the Si to date. This isn't really modding related, but there is a huge problem with the A/C systems in this generation. I've already had to replace the evaporator and compressor in just 35K miles. Its one of those things where i was used to driving the old beat and gutted Si's of old and finally had a car with proper A/C just to have it take two separate dumps on me. A lil frustrating when you live in SoCal where its hot all year lol. Otherwise my next mod is going to be a clutch/FP DP and Intercooler combo & I think I'm going to go with KTuner due to its accessibility. They have some heat soak and the stock intercoolers are a bit tiny to be all that effective. Looking at that gReddy. Anyone pick up the gReddy intercooler and have some feedback on its performance vs. the PRL/Mishi or if MAP makes their own?
From what I know the greddy intercooler uses a tube and fin type of design and has two sizes meanwhile all the other ones you named use bar and plate design and have one standard size. Each design have their own pro and con so it really depends on what you plan on using your car, be it drag racing, tracking, or just plain street driving.

Great video for me, was curious about what were the vitals of making sure this engine would be good and the drive train. And this answered all my questions!
Most people on the forums say its best to stay under 260-280 ft lbs of torque, as the torque (especially in the low end) is what will really kill a CVT. However, there are a lot of tunes you can get that limit the torque heavily in the low end and instead move your torque band to higher RPMs to prevent the CVT from dying, and it makes the car really capable in rolling starts/highway pulls.
@@lestergandionco9183 Horsepower limit doesn't matter since you'll hit the torque limit way before the horsepower will ever matter. With the way the CVT works around 280 ft lbs of torque the band (not sure if that's the right term) will start slipping and possibly break. I think I've seen people claiming around 300 hp, not sure if it was wheel or crank. Also not sure what torque they were running and how much longer their CVT lasted
If you really want to be safe I wouldn't even pass 240 hp/torque. You can have plenty of fun in the car with that much power especially if you get a good tune where the power band really shines in the higher rpms, making highway pulls a breeze. There's actually a clip somewhere online of a tuned 1.5t CVT beating out a Civic Type R in a 1/4 mile simply because the power band was so much better in the higher RPMs.
But I don't have a Civic....although I'm looking at that 11th gen...but only an EX/Touring trim. Time to downsize from my Fusion I think...I miss my compact cars.

Do you think I should trade it in for a newer Manual? Or should I try and swap the Trans and Clutch and buy a K Tuner? Would it even be worth it with it being the base model and not the Si?
Yeah I wouldn’t really invest a lot of money into the 1.5t, sure it’s a fun platform for a ktuner and intake setup but you’re looking at about 5k for 350whp. And that’s the most it can do on stock fueling. My speed3 can hit 330 on stock turbo lol.

I’m also coming from owning my first civic in the late 90s and having only driven modified honda since then… I was excited to try a factory turbo from honda…it makes for a decent daily…but there’s a bunch of things that made me decide to build another k series eg which I couldn’t be happier about…sold the 10th gen a couple months ago for 500 less then what I paid for it 3 years later…
Lesson learned, the newer cars just don’t do it for me…🤷🏻♂️
The con for the transmission actually impresses me more than it disappoints.
Love Chris Lowpes Si. Such a great build and good looking car.
I honestly like the 1.5 it's quite reliable even when modded
These Si's have so much power potential being boosted, its insane. My Si with just an OTS tune, intake and intercooler rips!
We made over 550hp on the stock block!
@@maperformance Thats just crazy..
I bought a 2020 Honda Civic si n I burned the clutch twice thanks for this video for confirming stock clutch is trash get rid of it
Happy owner of 2018 honda Si coupe. Thanks Maperformance got some parts from them
Right on!
Love the video,I to have the 2020 Honda SI coupe,I’ve done no mods, wish I could

I got the 10th gen Civic sport putting out 250 hp with no turbo and the automatic transmission has been modified to handle the horsepow the 10th gen Civic sports has the 2.0 L K20
I have a non si and Iv thrown some parts and a tune at it and it’s a fun car
What about the Sport sedan? I try finding parts for mine but it always shows me Si and Type R parts -_-
Would definitely like to hear about the Type R since you guys have that as a shop project too.
Check this out! ruclips.net/video/LomLfWnYvSw/видео.html
In pakistan we are running around 400 wheels in a stock block 1.5t cvt sedan. The best quarter mile we got on street was 12.1. 0 to 100 came at 4.1. They are full bolt ons but the block is completely stock.
Appreciate yall!
I know this video was a year ago but right now they are going for at least 35000 because the dealerships are overcharging by 5k at least before other surcharges and taxes. so close to 40k here in NW Ohio. I don't consider that affordable anymore. Have to look for used ones and get them from private sellers.
are you guys possibly going to ever develop any performance uprgrades for the na 2.0 for the 10th gens?
Chris lowpes build was my favourite with his 10th gen I have the same car and bought all the same mods
I just subscribed, this will be my go to video for my 2020 Si "carbon shooter" thanks guys and keep it up.
I'll be back
On the scale of 1-10 how reliable would you guys say these cars are on a simple flash tune with bolt ons?
With a simple flash I can promise you the reliability will not drop. There are bad batches out there but for the most part it's VERY reliable. I haven't had any issues what so ever and I've been flashed and modded and drive very aggressive for 3 years.
A 8-9. Like they said factory clutch might go out on you, but other than that anything else will most likely be related to neglect or complete abuse. If you maintain and take good care of the car you’ll be great though
Any car does immediately with mods...
I just bought a 10th gen stock civic 6500 not abused stock clutch 114000 turbo is solid. Its a friendly buy I need some to talk to about this. It's silly.
Love the vid, although the part u explained that upgrading the diff or whatever was is must if u want to push 450, I feel like with the money you're spending on those power gains you should just save up for the type-r, unless they have the same diff/trains then correct me if im wrong lmao
I looooooove my 10th gen and how cheap the parts are for good quality.
What have you done to your ride if you don’t mind me asking?
Mishimoto short ram intake (for now)
Perrin front mount strut brace
Invidia Gemini exhaust
Advan tires
Acuity shifter bushings
Mishimoto intercooler/(haven’t installed yet) charge pipping
Acuity short throw shifter ( waiting for this to arrive.)
Nothing for this car is cheap
Great video, I have a 10th Gen definitely will be modifying my car soon.
Go for it!
Great video. Would like to see GTI or Focus ST. See a lot of those on the street and they seem to rival the Si so it would be cool to learn about those cars in particular.
Noted!
Thanks for the informative video. Please do a similar one for the 11th gen Civic SI
Noted!
You guys are my go-to to buy parts when I’m buying new. Great video!
Guillermo, i have a 2018 Si coupe & all the exhaust piping from the turbo to the tips are alllll Maperformance. So is my intake & love everything about them. Great quality stuff by Maperformance
Thank you guys, got one recently and this is very well done
12:22!!! What kind of spoiler is that!!! I need one and can’t find it on the website
Yes! I had replaced my Ac compressor at 6k miles. I realize my ac wasn’t working….They told me they had a version 2 because version 1 had issues with the heat somthing like that. They should make it as recall smh
@@ALASBEATZ Honda recently put out a recall on the entire ac systems. I think it was something like 10 year unlimited mile I got a piece of paper in the mail like a month ago about it.
@@jacobbrown2289 I also got that.. good on them for reconizing it
Used with a lot of miles maybe find for that price. That's MSRP you listed. Add 10k to that.
2018 civic hatchback sport (stock), any benefits adding a mishimoto intercooler, piping and air intake? 10+/- hp gain for $1,400. My main concern is would it help with heat soak and engine life?
one question , is it possible to change front lights from simple one for chrystalic LED like on touring model ? or for this lights I'll need a different bumper ?
I'm confused as to why we can't just put bigger injectors and a bigger fuel pump. Are there no parts available or is the technology difficult to work with?
Great video for me, was curious about what were the vitals of making sure this engine would be good and the drive train. And this answered all my questions!
We try to be as comprehensive as possible for viewers like you!
Question to you Sir:
What is the safest dyno/HP increase for honda civic 1.5T CVT ?
Most people on the forums say its best to stay under 260-280 ft lbs of torque, as the torque (especially in the low end) is what will really kill a CVT. However, there are a lot of tunes you can get that limit the torque heavily in the low end and instead move your torque band to higher RPMs to prevent the CVT from dying, and it makes the car really capable in rolling starts/highway pulls.
@@natesdum how about hp sir ?
@@natesdum thank you for this awesome reply!
But I don't have a Civic....although I'm looking at that 11th gen...but only an EX/Touring trim. Time to downsize from my Fusion I think...I miss my compact cars.
Dude I'm not a Ford fan at all....but those Fusions don't never end up in car repair shops. So I would keep it
Dudes with big red beards talking about my car. Love maperformance
Can the new integra with cvt be made faster? 😫 please I never learned stick my brother passed away before he could teach me I'm getting the new integra it's awesome
Would you recommend the 2.0 motor or 1.5L? I got the 22 Honda sport 2.0 is an automatic 😅
We are partial towards the Si's 1.5t engine. There are a few upgrades available for the 2.0 from PRL I believe!
@@maperformance thank you
If i'm aiming for upper 200s and just for daily driving would you still recommend an upgraded clutch?
You guys should make stuff for the Sport 2.0L cars
Not much to do besides RV6 downpipe, ktuner, and intake.
@@ValkenDnB any intakes you'd recommend
@@hermes5286 To be honest, any of them are fine if you're chasing induction sound. If you're not, a simple drop in filter from AEM or K&N will probably produce better results. If you don't have an issue voiding warranty, a Ktuner is the best bang for buck.
How much horsepower can the stock 1.5t handle?
9th Gen is common on the race track, but I've yet to enounter a 10th Si. Sucks cause I'm itching to pit my base 10th 6MT Civic against the 1 trick poney.

Hi, I'm pretty stupid when it comes to cars, didn't grow up around them, and my parents weren't always around either.
Never been a Gear head or did anything more than change a tire, but I'm looking to get into it and want a project to learn on.
I have an automatic 2018 Civic LX, 2L I4.
Your "speed3" is gonna torque steer into a fucking ditch
@@Highlander1432 nah torque steer doesn't really happen till like 400+
I have a 2017 Coupe. I'm in low earth orbit on the outer belt heading to work and I still get 40 mpg highway.
Might be a bit late but I’d like to see something out there for the 2.0L Lx-p civic that’s out there
But i have seen few videos that say that the head kit is really bad and it will blow eventually it you mod 1.5t how true us that?
5:05 ...or if you actually try to be reasonably efficient, between 40-45mpg. Hypermiling, just over 50 without any mods.
They need to make a k24 Civic type-RS AWD Hatch. I don't like the 4-door hatch on their Type R. 4-door would be better for awd since it's a longer wheelbase front to back.
New proud owner of a 2019 civic sport hatchback manuals. And I’m working to get it modded. Is it true tho that I heard when overboosted they tend to blow head gaskets
I’m considering buying my first civic
What would all be needed to just hit the 300hp range? Reg 1.5T non SI
Is it a manual? The CVT models will not be able to handle that power.
What about the 10th gen EX-T that supposedly has the same engine?
Awesome video can you guys do this with the 86, type r or wrx/sti

Is the turbo cover for the civic si 1.5 the same as the accord 1.5?
What hp would break the transmission?

We should be getting one here soon!
How much of this will apply to the regular 1.5 t? We don't get the SI in europe
Love the Jordan Cox clips.
Without the type R front axle I don't think I would want to see more than 280 on the car if I get it. Only have a 10th gen but touring. Sharing a car with my wife. In the last 6 month's she drove the car like 3 times but I am still stuck with this cvt.
