I agree when it comes to Hondata/Ktuner it comes down to personal preference and your needs, as you stated earlier! :). I ran Ktuner V2 for over a year and recently switched to Hondata and have been doing quite a bit of hands on research within the system and the various features. Hondata is more up to date on current features and seem to be WAY more active with the community as well as being more willing and driven to experiment with their ideas to create even more reliable features. Innovation is a beautiful/advancing thing :). What ultimately made the switch for me was traction control and that I started tracking my car. Also In my experience most tuners will be more comfortable when you walk in their shop with Hondata, In regard to custom tuning. Both are excellent options at the end of the day, but it's unfortunate it turns into a battle between the two. But at the end of the day when there is competition it creates better products for the consumer. Also Ktuner can hold up to 5 maps :D! Having the screen is cool and all but there's other ways to get the same information without obstructing your view. My favorite tune with them is the PRL Multistage tune, the power is managed really well and is consistent throughout the entire power band. I've never tried to custom tune on Ktuner. I chose k tuner v1.2 as it allows a pop and bang map, and I am a sucker for that. Yeah yeah what about the cat, it’s a tiny amount. Maps switchable on the head unit done by a great tuner
Interesting review. Waaaaaay back in the early days, I used a Hondata ECU which had to be modified by them. So we frequently had to buy a host ECU to send to them for modification. Even back then it was the best route for major modifications. Glad to see it has evolved into something very simple and doesn't require removal or replacement anymore. Years ago I ran a Vortech supercharged Civic Si with 18-20psi boost on a built B16. Stupid fast, but dont miss having to work on it all the time. Now I have an ILX with a stock K24. I wonder if the Hondata would be able to unlock any hidden performance for that still?

i wanted a ktuner for years i finally got one and i tuned my 2015 accord lx with a takeda intake and dual exhaust stage 1 tune. I feel no difference at all im very sad i was so hyped for this day and im so let down... idk if i did something wrong or what but it seems like everything went smooth with the flash but if anything it feels like its slower now in sport mode

Can you make one of the tunes in the Hondata a detune? Like bypass the turbo or whatever and then have the stage 2 as the other tune. I basically want the option to make the car slower and better on gas mileage but be able to switch to the monster 280hp/370tq tune on the fly.

MOTEC > HONDATA > NOOBTUNER The noobtuner is cool if you got an EX or some sport hatch etc and your running base maps. Hondata is where most of us will be around bolt ons with flex fuel set ups etc.. MOTEC is where the big dogs play. Understand from a TUNERS point of view, ktuner and hondata have virtually the same access to certain information on the Bosch ECU we have.. so while you might not be able to do any traction contr on off antilag etc...once you get a custom tune it's possible... But if your at the point where your getting custom tunes and using antilag etc.. invest in new rods and start building that motor (4piston racing comes to mind here)

I would like to program the "Econ" mode to work like the "Normal" mode, have the "Normal" mode work like the "Sport" mode, and have the "Sport" mode set to get maximum performance out of the car. Also, once programmed, I do not want to have to keep anything plugged in. Also, I want the turbo boost dashboard monitor to remain present, regardless of whether I am in "Econ", "Normal", or "Sport" mode (the factory setting shows the turbo boost only in "Sport" mode). Lastly, I want my 10 speed automatic to always display which gear it is in. The factory setting shows the gear only when you use the paddle shifters. Do either of the products in this review qualify for doing all of the above (or most of the above)? Thank you.
TORQ it is worth noting that once you flash your Type R one time HONDA can see it and will never warranty your Type R... You can switch everything back to stock unflash it etc. They will pull logs and figure it out.
Instant jailbreak is an additional cost of $250 I believe, which is cheaper than sending in your ecu physically by $50 but is not included in the sale price of the hondata flash pro it self

hondata 2021 n 2020 comes with a CAN so it can buy pass the ecu. yet they cost $250 more by hondata to unlock. otherwise the 2018 n 2019 doesnt need the CAN n cost $200 on hondata to unlock. costin 780$ hondata for 2021 2020. a prl flex fuel kit for $500 hondata makes for it.

Head to palm thud....you don’t “blow a motor” using anti-lag. People who don’t know how to tune and/or using cookie cutter basemaps in general is how you grenade a turbo engine. There is nothing inherently dangerous with properly setting up anti-lag, and the only component you would damage would be exhaust pieces or possibly a turbo which is why you don’t run a cat or other emissions equipment with anti-lag. Essentially all you are doing is forcing fuel into the turbo to keep it hot so it keeps pressure built. EGTs are higher, but cylinder pressures aren’t anymore extreme than normal high load driving. If your engine can handle the power it makes under normal circumstances then anti-lag when properly set will hurt nothing. A lot of people just like the noise it makes though and have zero understanding of pre-ignition/detonation, cylinder pressure/temp or how to properly dial in a timing map for a turbo car on pump fuel.
*Correction:* the Ktuner has come down in price quite significantly. So the prices I mentioned aren't accurate
Ktuner does not have antilag on the FK8.

I would go with the Hondata . I just want the functionality. Appearance is one of those things that is just a bonus if it works great.

Does Hondata work on civic LX 2016 manual transmission?
Bought the ktuner because my car doesn't support the flashpro, got a 2012 Honda Accord V6. Not in their supported list.
I almost purchased the Ktuner but something told me get flashpro and did got flashpro since I know my way on kpro and always been a Honda modifications ECU..remember back in the day on 91 civic si with chip ECU them engine used to Rev up to 7,200rpm
I own a 2009 Honda Civic lx and I just installed a short ram intake took off the resonator and had a skunk2 exhaust installed on it and I’m getting backfire is that bad? I know I have to get it tuned because the car feels off I know nothing about tuning or anyone that does tune ups is the hondata a starters device that will help my problem?
i bought a 2004 civic which im building and im getting a kpro d17 ecu and hondata straight from them for $800 and than i just need to get the cam gear so say $1000 total

Head to palm thud....you don’t “blow a motor” using anti-lag. People who don’t know how to tune and/or using cookie cutter basemaps in general is how you grenade a turbo engine. There is nothing inherently dangerous with properly setting up anti-lag, and the only component you would damage would be exhaust pieces or possibly a turbo which is why you don’t run a cat or other emissions equipment with anti-lag. Essentially all you are doing is forcing fuel into the turbo to keep it hot so it keeps pressure built. EGTs are higher, but cylinder pressures aren’t anymore extreme than normal high load driving. If your engine can handle the power it makes under normal circumstances then anti-lag when properly set will hurt nothing. A lot of people just like the noise it makes though and have zero understanding of pre-ignition/detonation, cylinder pressure/temp or how to properly dial in a timing map for a turbo car on pump fuel.
