@@PeterDePolo One thing that makes the lack of a heated steering wheel tolerable is that the air vents are super close to the 9 and 3 position on the wheel.

No way, you drove past my house! A couple tips if you're in the Stowe area again, if you went straight on the roundabout at 10:55 and took VT-109 for a few miles there is a great road on the right called Hogback Road with nice winding corners, little traffic and a pedestrian suspension bridge as part of the Long Trail which is a great place to take a break. Just repaved a couple years ago and much more fun than VT-15 where there's a 95% chance you'll get stuck behind a beater Subaru doing 10 under. Also if you turn left at the end of the road at 18:13 (Stagecoach RD) there is a fantastic coffee spot called The Roastery, owned by a couple of RUclipsrs.

You inspired me to buy mine. I knew when a lot of the auto journalists were buying the Type-R that it was the right decision. Almost 5000 miles now in 9 months and I do have a few complains. Center cup holders get in the way and are too small on the door. Exhaust is too quiet. Gas tank is too small. Suspension is too stiff (fixed with the Type-S module). Pretty minor things for what is overall an extremely well rounded and impressive car.

My 90's coupe is running oem springs and shocks. I've just been using polybushes to improve the handling, the roll bars alone made a huge difference! Once they’re warm you can blast through them. Also some Honda transmissions do better with GM synchromesh friction modifier manual transmission fluid. J series in particular for my TL type s
Feel that on the oil changes. I have a 23' Kia Soul. I put around 5,000 miles a month on it. So I change the oil every month/ 5,000 miles. I'd rather be safe then risk it, lol.
Tend to agree with you in many cases about oil change intervals being weirdly long these days. My 2024 Jetta Sport calls for oil changes every 10,000 miles. I've been following this routine for as long as my oil changes are free at the dealer - when it's on me to do it myself, I'll probably lower that interval. With that said, I inspected my oil prior to taking it in and getting it changed and it looked much more healthy than the oil on the previous three cars I've owned, at lower intervals. It was definitely ready to be changed, but my old Silverado's oil looked worse at 6,000 miles than my VW's does at 10,000. I think there has been some advancements in engines and lubricants. Still though, I am generally skeptical of these long intervals in general. It seems to be working for me, but that's just one case with one car.
I suggest you check out a Dustball Rally GT. There's been a few New England ones and now the Adirondacks. Best way to discover some amazing driving roads in your own backyard.
13:59 I agree, Honda should have made an N/A type R or maybe at least a version with 9k revving N/A K20/K24 with Type R chassis. Maybe call it an Si-R and would slot between the Si and the Type R.
It's kind of funny to me how similar the fuel economy is on the type r and the b235r 9-5 aeros, I think the gearing might be a little taller on the 9-5, at 84mph it gets around 27-26.5 mpg, but around town, on 55mph speed limit roads, and on the average 77mph highway trips it's super similar
As there are more type R’s on the used market now I’d really like to go test drive one to see how it feels compared to my Si. The problems I anticipate are 1) no good way to carry a mountain bike (it won’t fit in the hatch, it can’t do a hitch bc of exhaust, and I won’t do a roof rack) 2) low MPG (relative to the Si) and low fuel range (
I am at 5k Miles, about to do my first oil change, lightly modified, about to tune it! I drive the FL5 daily, and it is the perfect daily performance car! I am leaning towards 2019 NSX or 2002 BNR34 R34 GTR for my weekend car. I am looking for a coup and ONLY JDM.
12:18 my only real complaint with my 2024 Integra. I hope the newer infotainment systems that are coming with the refreshed models will be a drop-in upgrade for my car, because the car is otherwise perfect imo
Just traded in my 2016 gt350 for a 2025 civic type r and I have to agree u can’t hit a hard 1st to second. I kept julting the car because I’m so used to banging 1 to 2
You aren’t a conspiracy theorist about oil change intervals. Oil has 7 main functions: Lubrication, Cooling, Cleaning, Sealing, Corrosion protection, Shock absorption, and Hydraulics. Considering all these factors it is safe to assume that a 5000 mile interval on full synthetic is best for the engine, after all you don't want to just throw contaminates back onto the engine constantly for 10,000 miles, especially if you want to prevent carbon buildup/sludge
I have a 2024 civic Sport Touring 6MT with just about 40 k miles now. I have the steering issue that the recall is for. As it is, I can’t go down the road without my steering locking up that causes me to make an aggressive input to get it to free. This is admittedly a big negative for me and makes me reconsider the entire purchase, despite how good everything else on the car is. The GTI’s or even Hundayis wouldn’t have these issues.
I hope you got to hit VT-107 on the way up to Stowe (though coming from MA, you likely did not). It's the best driving road on the East Coast, without a doubt.
Instinctively I want to say it needs more power but what I'm really wanting is a more exciting engine. I know (at least for the last while) that's not Honda's thing, it's chassis/handling, but I'm definitely an engine-first gal, much as I do love Honda.
the new type r's arent as sonorous as the old b and k series hondas, or even s2000 but they make up for it in dynamics and speed. personally with the pedal dance i have wheelspin up until 3rd so I'm good on power, but its still easy to tune these motors. I think they could and should work on the exhaust though, Integra type s fixes it
Living in Western NC, I completely understand the taking things slow but still overstepping the boundaries at times when driving our country roads. We also have a lot of people that come up from Florida living here now and the amount of times I get stuck behind them when I just even wanna go the speed limit is frustrating. Thanks for the vid Tedward! Always fun to listen and watch the therapy drives.
5:15 while that's definitely the case in SoCal on stuff like angeles crest, i unfortunately dont think pedestrians/bikers have the same mindset up here in the Bay. seems like almost every saturday they'll hold their own Tour de France and expect everyone driving isn't there for the fun roads, i know we gotta share the road but these guys expect us all to bend over backwards😭😭
I'm getting the sticky steering on my '23 with shy of 9k miles. Not too bad in comfort but very noticeable in sport or +R. 🥲 Sounds like a spring problem though as it will be getting put away for winter.
Your and Topher’s positive reviews were a big factor when buying my own Type R. For which I thank you! But I need help choosing an exhaust. What’s the hot setup for the FL5? AWE? Borla? Apexi? Tomei?
apexi best sounding imo not too loud but loud enough and still keeps valve if you want it you don't even need an exhaust lol, just deleting both resonators make a nice sound on these
When I had this gen SI, it totally had the sticky steering thing. It was only at highway speeds it seemed like or when the steering wheel is mostly centered on a highway vs. driving around town and moving it a lot. Nice to know that was a recalled thing. It was pretty annoying. Not like get rid of the car annoying or anything but noticeable and annoying lol edit: PS: you make me miss the SI and the civic in general and there's an at MSRP type R at the dealer a few miles from me. Don't do this to me lol

13:57 sounds like we need a modern s2000 xD
12:18 my only real complaint with my 2024 Integra. I hope the newer infotainment systems that are coming with the refreshed models will be a drop-in upgrade for my car, because the car is otherwise perfect imo
Those chicanes are the latest attempt to keep semi trucks out of the notch. Several get stuck every summer which closes the road for hours.
God I want this car so bad
Tedward rich af.
I’d be doing this in a 964RS if I were 😂
Fun hot hatch 👌
7:45 my great grandparents old house
Love the videos! Could you try to find a na k swapped Eg hatch to drive? I don’t know if you’ve posted a video of an eg hatch before.
I think they could and should work on the exhaust though, Integra type s fixes it
Have seen vids with like an ATAK and yeah, an exhaust helps a lot. Even Topher's with just the Type S exhaust does a lot, as you say.
Do you edit your vids with premiere pro or final cut? I feel like my premiere pro exported stuff never looks this crisp. Love the Type R vids!
If you had 45k and had no other cars, would you still buy your Type R or any other car?
Great videos btw!
Yes, it have double "purpose" and the extra cargo is no brainer
Man I can’t believe a camary almost cost as much as a type r without the markup of a type r
How’s the FWD on wet steep hills? I’m so used to Subarus that going FWD sounds like a step back to me.
Hey Ted, have you put any mods since owning your Type R?
Can you talk about the 1-2 shift issues more? I thought it was just me doing something wrong. It feels crunchy if you rush it.
Yay finally first to arrive
I almost said “no it’s a damper problem” until I realized you meant the season 😂
@TedwardDrives 😅 sounds like a problem for Spring! There we go.
Can you please try to drive an 05 Subaru Sti? Been wanting to see you drive one and hear your thoughts on them.
Your and Topher’s positive reviews were a big factor when buying my own Type R. For which I thank you! But I need help choosing an exhaust. What’s the hot setup for the FL5? AWE? Borla? Apexi? Tomei?
apexi best sounding imo
not too loud but loud enough and still keeps valve if you want it
you don't even need an exhaust lol, just deleting both resonators make a nice sound on these
When I had this gen SI, it totally had the sticky steering thing. It was only at highway speeds it seemed like or when the steering wheel is mostly centered on a highway vs. driving around town and moving it a lot. Nice to know that was a recalled thing. It was pretty annoying. Not like get rid of the car annoying or anything but noticeable and annoying lol
edit: PS: you make me miss the SI and the civic in general and there's an at MSRP type R at the dealer a few miles from me. Don't do this to me lol
Yessssss
