    I'm glad I came across this! My 02 with the 4.6 has been losing an insane amount of coolant, but there's no sign of it anywhere. I had replaced the intake manifold with the updated version about 6 years ago. I never would have thought that it could start leaking again, so strange as it might sound, I hope to find the leak under the manifold.

      +Rut n roll Yea I do....it on here. Basically you have to replace the plastic intake....and then you have to make sure if you have a Heated pvc valve or just a standard one. Now this is on the 4.6 v-8....not the 4.0. The intakes are plastic and seem not to last. Good luck. I spent $280.00 on a new intake on my 4.6. ;(

      @@FixingWithPassion how do you find that out. I'm not a car guy but have this same problem just now. Please point me to the right video. Was it 280 because it was wrong or .... just 280 dollars.

    That's my problem too. And little bite leak come out yeah it the inside intake manifold in bottom head gasket. After you run it the water leaks in to the oil pan. Yeah you right gasket

    thank you we have the same problem. I am not car savy, but would like to get the local mechanic to check, as they did the pressure test and it came back fine, but still loosing a lot of coolant. You said check the intake, could you expand that definition for me, ie: intake to what etc. thank you very much.

      +SooKi Dee You need to replace the intake with a new one. They come with new gaskets. I have replaced 3 last 2 years. The factory put cheep plastic intakes on these SUV's. Now you can buy a updated version now days. I have a video of how its done on here. I paid $140 on e-bay for everything in needed. Pretty easy to do if you can do some mechanical stuff.

    Hello. I have a question. I own a 04 Ford Explorer limited V8. Today I noticed a antifreeze coolant leak behind the engine. I don't know exactly where behind the engine is leaking yet. Could you give me an idea what could cause it to leak? I'm thinking a heater core or other holes .

    • @c431inf

    My husband has a 2007 Ford Ranger and has a leak - at the hole that looks just like the hole you found when you went under your truck. Since they are very different vehicles, would this still be the same problem? The picture he took looks exactly like that! I've been searching the internet to figure out what that little hole was!

      Yea front right....as long as its not leaking real bad you will be ok. Just check the engine water level now and then.

    • @FixingWithPassion

      Probably so. If your intake/plentum is plastic...its probably has a small crack or bad intake gasket. Pretty easy fix.

    • @FixingWithPassion
      @FixingWithPassion  7 лет назад

      But the only and right fix is to replace both plastic intake with new gaskets...You can this kit on e-bay from dealers pretty cheep!
