Skyrim is a place that hasn't been visited very often since 2011, however The Elder Scrolls Online has just began to receive a major new expansion finally sending us back to this iconic part of Tamriel and in doing so, bringing to life an entire new Skyrim-based storyline and introducing an unfathomable amount of new lore. So today we'll be exploring this new setting and explaining Skyrim's strange new story!
"Hey, you're finally awake! We just crossed the border."
*Gets jumped by imperial ambush*
Dang, the player can never get across the border without something going horribly wrong 😆😂🤣
@Ivore SurkuriKinda hard to have an imperial ambush when the Empire is in ruins thanks to a daedric invasion.
Fades to ES5 intro
Guess I'll Die the daedric invasion didn't happen yet, ESO online is set hundreds of years before any other Elder Scrolls games
@@nukacolanut9274 they have a strong border patrol game lol
I appreciate the game leaning into the “hey, you’re finally awake” jokes.
At least it’s not as bad as “I took an arrow in the knee” jokes 😅
@@nukacolanut9274 how dare you make fun of my totally not self inflicted injuries! 😁
What do you mean leaning into the jokes its like the same line as skyrim? Ofc they'd copy the game they've re released x amount of times

Who doesn't?
That opening line as you enter Skyrim is just perfection on the studios part
"hey, you. you're finally awake"

Not gonna lie, but when I heard the line, “Hey you, you’re finally awake.” I got kind of choked up 😅😭
Sadly, you don’t get this if you don’t create a new character. Existing characters that I’ve seen so far do not get that opening.
FatalFist that's so dumb. Yes because existing characters don't ride carts I guess?
@@FatalFist that's strange I saw the scene with a lvl 25 character when I started the game after the dlc installed
"For simplicities sake, I'll refer to them as the Eastern King and the Western King"
Doesn't mention them for the rest of the video.
that's probably due to cut content
@@Sovietov I’m dead😂🤣
I know wtf 🤣
Note Time -
-So, some major simplifications had to suffice in order for everything to make sense, and I ended up cutting out a huge portion of discussion on the Reach. Currently Markarth is ruled by a mysterious Reachman called "The Despot of Markarth" and we're likely to see more from him soon.
-The Red Storms are actually something called "Harrowstorms" and they're summoning entities from the original Grey Host back to Nirn from Coldharbour.
-Svagrim and Jorunn really don't like each other, but despite rival claims they are NOT at war as Ulfric was with the Empire, they just don't talk much.
Muchos gracias to Stadia for sponsoring, they literally allowed me to talk about whatever, which was great. Monetization is also disabled on this video, so no pre-rolls, mid-rolls or post rolls!

Are the cave ins even confirmed?
@@chickengelato9996 I'm pretty sure that's just a common belief amongst the people of winterhold but it's not actually a confirmed fact in the lore.. and the Nords general distrust/dislike of magic was due to the many negative events in history that involved magic in some way.

Exactly the same here
On the status of the Holds: The developers themselves actually clarified that Falkreath left Svargrim's 'West Skyrim' after the King failed to protect them from the Reachmen ( referencing the events of 'Horns of the Reach'), and Whiterun has opted for a neutral stance given their position of trade. So what you play in Greymoor is the last vestiges of The West's territory.
Interestingly, during the events of ESO, Falkreath has come into the protection of Craglorn.
Love the vid and am eternally grateful to see eso lore content! Getting a little tired of seeing the lore guys only talk about Oblivion and Skyrim as if ESO doesn’t have a goldmine of stories and lore for the Elder Scrolls universe to unpack.

Stadia is a cloud based gaming service, so the game runs on Google servers, and the output is sent to your device, so you can play on anything, as long as you have a solid internet connection and are willing to buy your games again.
Honestly, you're better off using GeForce Now.

i would love to see more eso videos, especially those exploring the lore in this game (there really arnt many youtubers doing it since its a multiplayer game and not too popular with the skyrim purists)
Unfortunately, ESO breaks lore left right and center (crates, dlcs, nps, maps) But they are finally getting a writer back for the next DLC (Not for Blackwood, the next one) Hopefully positive lore videos would be easier to make rather then sharing lore breaking. This is a fine video cause he doesnt point out the obvious but tries to shine a positive light to it. Though that is extremely hard to do for eso dlcs, not including Wrothgar.

Also, I'd like to say as someone who hasn't played or watched any ESO content, I really don't mind ESO vids on this channel. I come here for lore, and your commentary. If ESO has information in it, then I think a number of us would enjoy your content, and comments about it. I always thought that eso took place in the second era, was I completely wrong, or is it just this expansion that takes place in 3E 583?
He's just flat out incorrect as usual. It is the 2nd Era, the 3rd Era only had 433 years. This guy is trash at fact checking.
Either that or it's a typo
The 3rd Era began and ended with the Septim Dynasty. Arena-Oblivion were 3rd Era, Skyrim is 4th, ESO is set in the 2nd, as one of the brief intermediate Cyrodiilic Empires is collapsing. This is a few hundred years before Talos leads his armies from Skyrim to conquer Cyrodiil and begin the Septim Empire, declaring a new Era (the 3rd) when he conquers the continent.
He has the year number right I think, just not the Era.
Idk most of what you see in appearance isn’t Canon very MMO styled and in my opinion far uninteresting to the actual art style of Morrowind, Skyrim, and Oblivion. But idk ESO isn’t that bad it’s just the Old Republic to Kotor something which interesting stories but uninteresting visuals and art design
It takes place in the 2nd era.
