It's a gimmick. It's the same sensor from the 90D, it's ok but not that great and certainly no great for low light which will be an issue on a small sensor.
I sure hope canon does a new RF-S version of the older APS-C zoom the 17-55mm f2.8 IS. It's a wonderful focal range for crop bodies, and I would love to see the size they could get now with mirrorless! Here's to hoping for higher quality glass for APS-C from Canon!!
There will be no great APSC lens lineup. This is for birders, they don't need such lens, just cheap teles what they want and they have it already. For everything else there is the Canon RP with kit lens, and it will outperform in image quality and bokeh any 2.8 lens on APSC. Talking from experience.
This camera has some features which I’d love to have on my R6! The auto leveling feature is crazy! Might even consider getting one as a secondary camera
I sure hope the RAW burst mode with pre-shooting, and the possibility of sound for the electronic shutter comes in a firmware update for the R6/R5/R3 as well.

Need some better priced fast RF lenses tho, I'll be sticking with my ef-s and sigma lenses for a while yet! Beginning photographer here, looking into the canon M50 Mark ii for starters, is that ok for just starting out? I also plan on starting a RUclips channel and from what I have researched the Mark ii isn’t bad , although it’s an APS-C which crops the sensor so not a good 4k camera but who watches RUclips on computers?
It’s fine for a beginner. As you become more experienced and learn about other cameras, lenses, etc, you’ll see what fits your needs. EDIT: if autofocus is very important to you I can’t tell you how the mk2 compares to Canon’s newer cameras, so you may want to read up on it.

@@natechenry Don’t forget that the M50 is an APS-C sensor so lenses have focal length multiplier. Meaning the focal length of the lens, in the M50 case, is multiplied by 1.5. That 33mm X 1.5 (16) is actually 49mm. And so forth. I’d say start with the kit zoom. It should give you a good range to learn with. And yes, there are adapters for using other Canon lenses. I thought in the same way, to change Eos R to R7 and then I would get the same autofocus speed as R5 and R6 and then it is as fast as an R3 with 30 frames per second, at a lower price.🤩 since I miss faster autofocus see it looks like this is the right camera for me.

Great camera but (in my experiece) the auto level does not work for the angles shown. It's great for correcting a tilt when you think the camera is level but it's actually off by a couple of degrees. But it doesn't correct for a big tilt as shown in this video.
Im interested to see what the specs are on the new cameras that fujifilm are announcing on the 31st, they are always innovating in the apsc space, I'm sure it's gonna blow this camera out of the water... aside from maybe autofocus.

Hi, Morten! The lens you're using makes the biggest impact on your portraits, and the EOS R7 can use any RF-series lens. It can also use any EF or EF-S lens when you add Mount Adapter EF-EOS R. Once you've got the right lens, your EOS R7 will be ready to deliver spectacular images!
What about overheating? I have a R6 with overheating issues after 35 minutes. Is that problem solved in the brand new canon R7? It's good to stop 30 minutes limitation, but what about overheating?

The lodge where I work is one of the best places for Jaguars (We see then almost every day around here) and I'm really struggling with the animal eye AF of my R6 with Jaguars. It does not lock on the eye. It just goes crazy with the rosets and spots of the jaguar's fur. I would like to know if that's normal, if you know somebody who have trouble with spotted wildcats as well. I tried every AF case and couldn't find a solution. Can you help me? Please?

Id gladly have paid between $200-500 more for this for a few more upgrades. Extra dial, screen ontop, stacked/backlit sensor etc. Still a great looking camera though will probably upgrade from my 90D

Hello, I have a small suggestion that might appeal to all Canon R7 users: to update the camera so that when you connect a simple external monitor, the image appears on the external monitor and only access to the menu on a black background is available on the Canon R7 screen. This would allow users to film while looking at their external screen and have all the information on the Canon R7 screen.

I have a 90d as well but the r7 is very tempting because of the specs. They are great for my sports, car, and aviation photos. So I might get it.
I have an 80D and idk how this wouldn’t be an obvious upgrade from the 90D. No crop on 4k ibis and unlimited record time.
You have always use adapter to EF
I use the adapter on my original "R" camera for my EF glass. It works perfectly.
Also the EVF versus the traditional optical view finder is amazing.

Auto-leveling is great for hand-held. Pre-burst mode for 0.5 sec is great for bird/wildlife photography. I am buying one.

You can use any EF/EF-S/RF lens. Only EF-M does not work. The adapter needed for EF/EF-S.

I hope eos r7 can adapt third party lenses like Sony E-mount!
Not possible. You can adapt only DSLR lenses. Sony E-mount has 18 mm flange focal distance Canon R has 20 mm.
I hope it's compatible with polaroid cartridges!

Hello, I have a small suggestion that might appeal to all Canon R7 users: to update the camera so that when you connect a simple external monitor, the image appears on the external monitor and only access to the menu on a black background is available on the Canon R7 screen. This would allow users to film while looking at their external screen and have all the information on the Canon R7 screen.
I don't love easy photography.i want to do all the work myself.i will stick to my 5d Mark iii for photos
