    I'm gonna put it through the paces this weekend, I ordered a b-stock direct from Lauten and it arrives tomorrow afternoon! What put me over the top was high spl, rejection of room resonances and just a really nice sound. I hope I'll hang onto it!

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Ran it thru the paces this weekend and knocked out some jobs and auditions today. To me, it's some of the benefits of the 416 with none of the edgy, metallic drawbacks in the upper midrange. At the risk of sounding like an MYN sycophant, It's a great mic. Very balanced across the whole spectrum, easy to EQ (not much needed) and just a very pleasing tone in general. My chain is:
      Lauten 208 (set flat)- Vintech X73i with 80Hz highpass -Jim Williams Modded Aphex 661 set to Easy Rider for peaks - Fabfilter EQ - UAD Empirical Labs EL8 for more light 2:1 Compression, Fabfilter Multiband for everything above 5k, Sheops Omnichannel for final polish. I'm sure I'll fiddle with other chains but so far it's exceeded my expectations. Warm, balanced, great articulation. BTW, I also use the Triton FET head on the mic, as the Lauten is quite low gain. That's my review and I stand by it!

    Ditched my NDH 20’s for this one and popped in my AirPods Pro 2’s. How’d it sound on consumer level speakers? Meh. It was certainly crispy enough, but completely lacked the mid/lower-mid punch of the 416. Your beds were amazing, btw!😂

      @@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff Okay, I've had a little time to stew with all this and I've had a change of heart. I ended up buying an LS-208 and an Atlantis FC-387. The 208 I picked up in store, but the 387 has to be shipped. I'm running this 208 and my 416 into the same mixer and recording the same VO dialog in one capture. Um. Wow! This LS-208 is amazing! It does sound a little different than the 416, but I'm starting to agree with you Mark - this 208 cuts through a mix very easily, but sounds better on the ears than the 416. Oof. You might be right: it might be time to move on to a new, better sound for VO. I'm blown away. Thanks for putting this idea into my brain! And thanks Lauten Audio for making these staggeringly good mic. Wow.

      @@2ZipZoomFly You're very welcome! Huge thanks for doing your own shootout with the 416 and reporting back your results. I'm really believing more and more that the 208 has the potential to become new VO standard. Enjoy!!

    Takes Unison Pres well? Takes processing well? Also, yup, I definitely heard every word without effort regardless of the bed. Clean, clear would be easy to listen to. Yet, not too sibilant.

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks! I don't use Unison Pres anymore so I can't say, but I've used a little EQ on the high and low ends to contour the tone and it has taken that EQ well.

    Nice Mark. I appreciate you doing this. I do podcasts over DJ mixes. Are you using any sidechain compression or reductive EQ?

    • @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff
      @MarkYoshimotoNemcoff  Месяц назад +1

      My pleasure. What you're hearing here is just the raw audio with no EQ and just my usual 1:5.1 kiss of compression with a high threshhold over the beds. No other processing. Unfortunately, what I've discovered over the years, much to my dismay, often there is no post production being done on stuff and they just lay the VO, as you sent it, over a bed and adjust levels, so I've adapted my recordings to overcome this lack of mixing or manipulation and still cut through.
