I mostly lurk but I really enjoy your channel. The work you do is way beyond my skillset or understanding yet you narrate plainly enough that I can follow what's going on. I appreciate it!
I like your tool holder! Gonna have to make one this weekend. I'll add a slot for my clothes pin that I use to grab the leads when desoldering. My metal pliers are a great heatsink so the clothes pin speeds up the work. Thanks for sharing! 🎸 ✌️
I really enjoy these quickies. Hit record, minimal editing at most. Sometimes it's just nice to see inside the amps and how they're constructed, what the symptom was, quick explanation of how the repair was diagnosed without getting too much in the weeds if possible. Big part of why I like Brad's Saturday Streams when he's just going through amps and getting a game plan.
Great video Lyle, I was doing this exact capacitor change last week! I also sent you an email about my Deluxe Reverb, if you have a moment to respond I'd be super grateful! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video, Lyle. I couldn't help but notice your "tool tidy" (I can't think of another name). It looks like a really great way to keep your top dozen or so tools handy. I use the "spray them all around my bench" approach, which gets occasional frowns from my better half. Is this something you knocked up yourself or is it a commercial product? Thanks.
I really love watching you work. I'm in awe of your expertise. I wonder what it's like for Dave Friedman to see you remove those filter caps and replace them with better ones? I wonder why he doesn't do that? These aren't exactly cheap amps and so it can't be a cost thing?
He did in production. This was just one bad batch. To answer your other question it has very good components (the things I changed brought it to current production spec) and are very well designed.
Yeah, nothing in this world lasts forever. The question is does the company support their product? New loop shipped to authorized tech, repair in an hour or so, no charge to the owner. That’s the most any of us can hope for.
@@PsionicAudiolove that Dave lets you do the stuff! Still waiting to get my suhr amp back from suhr - would have loved them to let a local guy fix things, but they seem to prefer to ship it around which takes some time... That said, love their support - and they also do it for free.
Does F&T make 2200uF 50v axial caps, everything I’m seeing is either IC or AnaTek brand on Amazon. Any recommendation what would be a good replacement for that value?
@@PsionicAudio Thanks for the quick response, DigiKey has NTE and Sprague besides IC. Kinda want to stay away from IC cause that’s mostly what I see being replaced and that’s what Peavey/Fender used to save a few dollars.
@@Billywagner22 You're still populating the components by hand and soldering them in place. Some boards are populated via automated process and wave soldered. Maybe hand assembled is more appropriate verbage.
Kind of like the camera angle. Shows your work. Nice work as always.

Would love a deeper dive on the BE50 at some point. Great amp.
When one can stay a bit longer.
always nice to see not matter the angle. thanks.
just love my BE50 and matching 412, it sounds awesome at any volume. thanks for the video
I really enjoy your videos! Wish you where closer to NC !

Rock and roll. I hope you love your work for a long time to come.

Awesome
Let it roll!
Hey Lyle, good to see you knocked another one out of the park.

Friedman builds a fine amp indeed.
Friedman's aren't my cup of tea, but what a beautifully made amp.
I love a Casio G Shock :)

Was that lick from " I think I'm going Bald " ?
Great sounding amp...thanks for the quick vid.
Kind of Villa Strangiato but not really.
What do you think of thr component quality and build quality of these amps?
Today's lesson: Even an expensive boutique amp can have a problem.
Yeah, nothing in this world lasts forever. The question is does the company support their product?

PS the loop failure is uncommon.
@@PsionicAudio Yes, Dave made it right. Respect to him. And good job on the quick repair.
I would think it’s understood that just cause it’s a boutique amp doesn’t mean it can’t fail 🤷🏽♂️

Do any manufacturers actually use f and t
Cool amp, i think, but i don't know much.. lol
Does F&T make 2200uF 50v axial caps, everything I’m seeing is either IC or AnaTek brand on Amazon. Any recommendation what would be a good replacement for that value?
Go to Mouser or Digikey. Don’t buy amp components on Amazon.
@@PsionicAudio Thanks for the quick response, DigiKey has NTE and Sprague besides IC. Kinda want to stay away from IC cause that’s mostly what I see being replaced and that’s what Peavey/Fender used to save a few dollars.
IC makes good and bad caps. Fender goes CHEAP. Read the datasheets.
I always thought the BE was hand wired. Nice looking board.
They are. You might be misled by seeing the PCB - that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't hand wired.
@sahlomonic if it has traces on the board it's not really hardwired..

@sahlomonic no that's not hw
@@Billywagner22 What difference those it make? none...
Down and dirty and dialed in.
How do you like the 951?
Love it. It’s the same upgrade from the 936 that the 936 was from a pencil iron.
I’ve just got to learn to wait for the beep.

Yeah, I’m about to take that leap if I can afford one that won’t clog every five minutes.
Casio GSHOCK!! In yo face!
see kids. no buss wire soldered to the back of the pots. not necessary
I love Dave's amps but his names are terrible. I mean seriously what's next? The "Jail Bait Junior"? 🥴
