@Crimson Fox I actually like Bella, I didn't think she was a bad character, I mean how you feel with Bella swan is how I feel with katniss everdeen, Percy Jackson and peeta mellark.
I REALLY don't mean to hate, but I'm a romance - aholic, so this is like, where it's at for me. I REALLY don't mean any harm to your way of seeing it, I'm just saying that some people might actually appreciate the love more than focusing on what's going on around it.
@@translation-loading-9727 Do you like the books? I found the first book boring. I didn't bother reading the rest, because I don't like romance. How do they compare to other romance books?
@@translation-loading-9727 It's not too long, don't worry, but making paragraphs could help. And thanks for the reply It did help me understand what some people like in romance. The only type of romance I like is baby's first crush (That's what I call it) You know, the very wholesome and childfriendly kind You know, with lots of blushing, happiness and heart fluttering cuteness? Basically stuff you will only see/read in kid to young teen media. (also because it has a 100% guarantee that there won't be sex scenes) It's mostly because I have never had a crush myself, even though I'm 17. So I can't really imagine what comes after that, since I've never been in love, let alone in a relationship sorry for all the personal stuff, I know you didn't ask. I'm just obsessed with a certain show right now that has it.
Well I mean, she really is in a lot of ways. I would have liked the books and the movies so much better if she hadn't spent so much time pinning over Edward and ignoring her friends and family. I know it's a romance but it just seemed like she didn't have a life of her own. No hobbies or interests outside of being not like other girls.
@Blue Moon Candy and I agree, there are plenty of male characters that are Gary Stues as well. The difference is that characters like Luke Skywalker are written well. A video that I would recommend is 'Why Rae is a Mary sue' by Literature Devil. He does a really good job of explaining.
Blue Moon Candy I agree with what you’ve said but a more in-depth explanation would definitely be ”A Mary or Gary Sue is someone who’s presence warps the story around them.” This, in my opinion, means stuff like a harem storyline, overpowered characters, or everyman characters. I have never read Twilight myself but to accuse Bella of being a Mary Sue I would say she would need to tick these boxes. A) Any character that interacts with her gets pulled to extremes. Such as hating her at first glance, instaromance, or just acting odd and or out of character B) The whole plot revolves around her getting what she wants without doing anything. Basically the world and everyone in it is bending over backwards to allow her to get a happy ending. B and a half) she only reacts to things but still gets what she wants without taking action C) her character is mindless with little to no potential and a bland personality that does not grow or change D) no matter what morally wrong things she might do no one faults her for too long
"Mary Sues" are more of a product of annoying author manipulation. Their writing suddenly prioritises aspects of the character without putting build up to back it up. I don't remember enough of the plot to conclude whether or not Bella was a "Mary Sue" but the term is not concrete enough, not everyone agrees with a specific definition. Pointing out the individual problems with her would allow us to dissect which parts went wrong and which didn't. Which seems a lot easier to understand rather than mixing all of the problems into "Mary Sue," a boring term.
I remember when I read Twilight I almost threw the book across the room because of how Bella literally grabbed some random drugs from the medicine cabinet and knocked herself out because she "couldn't wait that long to see Edward"
Honestly, even though Robert Pattison may not have been the perfect person appearance wise in the movie, he was the best acting wise in all the movies. Hate on me if you want, but compared to everyone else, Robert was good. He's a fantastic actor out of Twilight as well.
I think most actors were good enough for the story. Kristen made Bella a movie version of the black canvas she was in the books, Robert was the right amount of distantly charming and sometimes sarcastic to make a good Edward, Taylor made Jacob one the most accurate portrayals of a super-hormonal, super annoyed teenager I've ever seen lol Also, Billy Burke is a perfect dad, I'll never be able to unsee the dad-ness in him, and Anna Kendrick made Jessica a 100 times better than her book counterpart. Two things Twilight did amazing at were casting and soundtrack.
Yeah so let's get this straight: ppl were angry at Edward's casting because Robert Pattison was not handsome enough? What??? Many bad things can be said about Twilight but Robert is a snack bruh
The Narnia Chronicles would be a great episode. The characters look SO different in the movie than in the book. They changed the ages of the characters and their descriptions. I believe Lucy and Edmund we’re both blonde in the books that C.S Lewis wrote.
edmund and lucy were closer in age to peter and susan in the books, but i think in general the movies fit the vibe that the books were giving off regarding the personalities of the characters. the biggest divergence is with edmund - skandar keynes became a lot more brooding and attractive than his book counterpart ever got to be - but surprisingly his coloring was never mentioned in the books. the age was well suited in lww, and subsequent movies didn't match the age mainly due to the filming taking longer than a year. actually, the biggest difference in character description is with prince caspian, who was blonde and 12 in the books but 21 and brunette in the movies. part of me wishes they went with the younger age since it would explain a lot more of his actions, but i can't help but enjoy the fact that i got to stare at ben barnes for a couple of hours.
I just wish the other other books became movies. I feel like there's so much potential for Narnia to be great like HP and LOTR if only they could get a little push in the right direction. Last Battle could be really good since the actors are already aged up a bit. And they could use that to their advantage in Horse and His Boy too.
yeah, when i first watched the movies i constantly complained about the fact that in the books Lucy was described as blonde, but she has dark brown hair in the movie
I couldn't finish Twilight it was terrible I don't understand how people enjoy reading about a girls unhealthy obsession to a guy that almost got her killed towards the end of the first book.
@@yuz_ha Well duh, you can't even compare the two. Two different universes that have completely different scenarios and settings. I honestly don't see how people can compare the two, and to me, Harry Potter is just better. To me, Twilight is just too cliché
Definitely!! The movie is sooo different, tbf I do like both depictions on the characters but I wanna see a side by side of what the visualised book characters would look like!!
I really believe Meyer did a self-insert as the protagonist. The character you drew up as Bella literally looks like a cartoon version of Meyer than a toon of Kristen Stewart 🤷♀️
But self inserts aren't bad, if anything almost all main characters that are told in first-person have qualities of the author, so in a way all main characters are self inserts.
@DriftFromReality - that's actually wrong and I'm sorry you feel that way, but self inserts are necessarily A bad thing because putting yourself in a story and making a character out of yourself can actually be a very good thing, especially if you take a past trauma that you've experienced and put it in a story and that main character experiences the story in the same way, so that makes your argument meaningless and invalid.
@@sindelscat9336 So you're saying Stephenie Meyer went through past trauma of some kind and put it in twilight? I'm not against you on the self insert thing, but you argument isn't really that sound either. I have read the first book and nothing about it screamed "the author is putting in a bit of their dark dramatic past" You can usually tell when an author writes from experience, especially when the writing... isn't that great otherwise. (The first book of a series usually isn't that well written)
@@rookideetrainer1635 no I'm saying that some authors do, not saying that she did, I was just using an example about it because you've got to admit some authors do that, I was just saying that just because Bella has her self insert does not mean it's a bad thing, and I've actually gotten a copy of it and the first book is pretty well-written, well at least the copy I got.
@@sindelscat9336 still we're talking about Twilight and Meyer specifically. But I think I'm just going to stop replying, if that's alright? I don't have the energy to keep discussing something we pretty much agree on. This has suddenly endeared me to Twilight... also when she mentioned Bella hiding her face in her hair when Edward glares at her just makes me immediately think of her her just flipping her hair into her face or her grabbing the hair around her face and just using their as a curtain, which I think is adorable lol
6:43 that, and authors typically mirror themselves in the main character as they only really know how they feel, not how others truly feel. I know I’ve done this many times myself, as it’s extremely difficult not to do when writing
I switch POV alot between mains and secondarys. I know how each character feels makes it hard to pick a POV sometimes when alot of people are in one scene. Like who would the reader want more of, and who do I want more of. But so far I only have one or two character. A secondary, and a bland mc at least in part one. I worry is a self insert out of 50+.
Mm, I disagree. While I will often put just a couple aspects of myself into my characters I prefer to challenge myself to write very different types of characters. It's too easy when you're just writing yourself, and boring, and the characters usually feel like they have very little personality because you're just looking at yourself. I just feel like a good author should be trying to branch out more, y'know?
The actor who plays Edward was also cast for Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter. Both are described to be very beautiful... *guess people think he’s pretty*
@@Jenns228 Yeah it was a book before they turned it into a movie, they also made a book on The Lost World. I will tell you this, if you chose to read it, it's written more of a sci-fi horror than a sci-fi adventure

I actually read the entire book series back when they were being released, and I eventually fell out of love with them by the end, but the bronze hair color was something that stuck out to me. It was also the first series I'd actually been somewhat into seen be adapted into a movie and I had no idea that directors didn't actually stick to book descriptions when they cast the characters. I thought I was losing my mind when I saw Edward in the movies and his hair was not even close to the reddish golden brown I'd imagined bronze hair to be.

she says "that time in internet history" as if people don't still constantly dox twilight also considering people still say stuff like "still a better love story than twilight" pretty regularly.
There was a whole twilight renaissance tho, like honestly some of the long posts old fans wrote analyzing the story for what it was and its cultural impact was very interesting. (During its height of popularity i was not interested in romance as a genre so I had little interest. But now i can appreciate it for what it was; acknowledging its flaws without being all "blah this is meant for teen girls so of course it has to be bad")
@CuteKitten 43 ,, random question, but did you happen to have a mine craft-related app called Seeds Pro? Sorry about this lol, it's just I recognize your username
The issues I have are from the story itself. Bella and Edward are a perfect textbook example of obsessive love, which is a highly toxic relationship type that should be properly discouraged. I get irritated when people say, "It's just a teenage thing! All teen girls are like that! They grow out of it!" No. Just no. Not all are, in fact, most aren't! Dramatic and sometimes over-exuberant, yes, but not overly obsessive. If they are, it shows they do not understand boundaries, among other things, well enough to be dating yet and parents need to sit them down and talk about it. It is a trait of obsessive personality types that needs to be addressed with therapy, not encouraged as a typical teenage trope. Only a small sliver of that behavior is due to brain developmental stages, the rest is learned, and the person is in danger of it becoming a habit that will negatively impact future relationships. The scene in the hospital where she is freaking out about him leaving seriously made me shudder, as well as the multiple life threatening actions she took to "see edward" that was presented as romantic and an example of "typical teenage romance"! WTF!? Also, the book is worse in these regards, the movie took a decent amount of the more worrisome relationship aspects and toned them down or removed them. Not often I see the adaptation of a story to film as an improvement....lol. My apologies if my views offend anyone, but it has been my take-away ever since I read the first book and saw the films. If you enjoyed it, I'm glad, movies should be fun and enjoyable. Lol. Hope you have a wonderful day!!
Ikr? So many people overlook the fact that many of the parts considered “romantic” are creepy or just plain wrong! Especially the fact that people overlooked or just considered it romantic that Bella got married and pregnant at like 18. I’m sorry if I offend anyone by saying that it’s not a good series.
@@ella_melchionna Yeah, and she forced Edward into it because he wouldn't have sex with her until they were married....but still didn't want to do that while she was still human because he might LITERALLY rip her apart. People think the bed breaking during that scene is "SO SEXY", not realizing that he did that so that he wouldn't KILL his new bride!! She still ended up looking like she went ten rounds with a pro boxer. Yeah, soooo sexy! /s SMH....
I am so sorry, but if you think that the average high schooler is going to take social cues from a trashy romance novel, then you clearly have no faith in our intelligence and frankly I am insulted.
She was the biggest "not like other girls". I remember being annoyed with her because she always ditched her friends for Edward despite not trusting him, and she was even reluctant to interact with Alice who was by far my favorite character of them all. I know the romance was supposed to be the main conflict, but I wish there was more interaction between Alice and Bella. That's my biggest criticism of the books is the complete disregard for the importance of platonic friendship, and family. You can't just obsess over a single person, that's not healthy. I'm glad I read the books though, I enjoyed them despite their flaws.
@@aussie-_-9285 honestly I never read any of them at all. I found out about them through this video. Also I only watched a bit of one movie but didn't care and walked away from it. So honestly same

I love how Bella looks like a vampire. Like, even though Edward has a supernatural skin color, you'd expect Bella to be the vampire. Also Edward is super pretty holy shit-
I’m gonna guess that the reason they styled Kristen’s hair to be a bit wavy was because it’s easier to film. With strait hair, you have to make sure it’s all in consistent placing with each shot, but not quite as much with lightly curled hair.
I liked Twilight when i was younger, but as I got older and more into books I realised how bad the story-telling was at times and how stupid they tend to behave, but at this point I don't really care. It is what it is, but I unterstand why some people hate it
Agreed. Honestly the writing style was pretty decent (from what I remember, it's been a while) and was able to disguise a lot of the nonsensical story and characters at first.
if you read it without taking it seriously, its kinda funny. like edward says, i cant be with you bella, im a monster! to which bella responds with, no! ill never leave you edward! youre too handsome!
reading back books that you loved as a kid is an experience, for sure now that i have a bit more knowledge about storytelling, worldbuilding and all that i realize how much my favorite books objectively are pretty damn lacking in certain regards.
puddy cat honestly never understood everyone’s gripe about Bella being a self insert. Practically every fantasy story written by dudes ever has self-inserts, but because it’s done in a cheesy romance story suddenly it’s bad?
@@kasairan8492 I personally didn't mind cause, I was too busy being annoyed at sparkle vampires- but I think its cause she was kind of annoying and almost 'perfect'? in the movies at least
Self inserts are more common than you'd think. Stephen King used them too. They aren't necessarily bad. It's just whether or not you can use them properly, same as any writing device.
puddy cat I think the purpose of that was so it’s easier for the reader (target audience of tween girls and young women) to insert themselves into the story. It might as well be a Y/N fic lol.
Challenge idea: A bunch of artists each read descriptions of characters from books and draw them, then are presented with how those characters are in the movie/show adaptations. They don't get to see the names of the characters and aren't told what shows/movies the characters are from. Then they get to see each other's representations of those characters. I'm currently writing books and one of my favourite things to do is give extracts describing the characters to some of my more artistic friends and seeing what they make of it. It's really fun to see the little differences that happen based on who's read the extract, and sometimes I'll remake the tone of it to see the differences. I've found that a humourous tone makes for more cartoonish characters, and that happier descriptions make characters more "pretty" (not just base attractiveness but how happy, gentle and clean they seem), while harsh tones make characters who look like they're about to get in a fight (either an evil grin or a serious face).
I cannot recommend it. I read the first book on recommendation from a friend. I was so bored with it. It drones on about how handsome she finds Edward on many, many occasions. Barf
Well if you read the first book of Harry Potter it's quite boring, droning on into a little too much detail. But if you go farther in the series, even just a little bit. You'll find a lot of depth and beauty underlying.
Honestly I can't find many problems with A Series Of Unfortunate Events but I'd still love to see it. Also maybe even A Little Princess (I didn't like that one) or Anne Of Green Gables
Even Harry Potter does have things similar to that, but people _still_ think Harry and Hermione are black (Not that I have anything against black people :)
Seeing these depictions, I have a strange feeling that if the series had been animated as opposed to a live-action film, it would have received a wider reception and aged a lot better (examples of well-aged animation: sailor moon, any studio ghibli, hell most disney films)
@@kayla4551 Fair enough, but to be fair fictional stories on anime or animated stories in general is easier to believe in. Since they're animated, it's much easier for us, the viewer, to imagine being in their shoes than in live action shows and films. I mean, a talking lion, a walking castle, and a guy that screams Kamehameha is pretty out there, but they still draw us in.
I was just talking to my friend about twilight! (there’s a bit of a twilight renaissance on tumblr rn) The best way to sum my relationship with twilight up is just to copy paste what I was telling him: I had a bit of a twilight phase mostly to try and get peeps to like me, and also because I was obsessed with vampire lore in general and didn’t understand why the people who would bully me for that were suddenly reading a book about vampires Then I found really good well written fanfics that made me really love the characters. I jumped on the hating twilight bandwagon honestly partially because of self hate and also it was no longer my style and it just didn’t keep my interest I later settled mostly into a “idc u do u, i hate cringe culture so like whatever you like” state of mind And recently I’ve been like moderately interested in it again bc there’s a twilight renaissance on tumblr and it’s cute and honestly just predominantly happy stories about vampires is a cute concept. I love your art btw (I’m a little heart broken you didn’t do Alice or Emmet tho gotta say! :p)

I've had a realization that hit me with a brick and now I can't unsee it: they cast older actors to play young people because they might be talking about sex and you can't have a minor engaging in sexual activities or even innuendo's on film because that would be basically normalizing child pornography. This obviously doesn't happen with every movie, it surely isn't true for Percy Jackson, but think about Riverdale and how they've chosen adults to play highschoolers? Now you might not be concerned with seeing a 16 year old having sex when you're thirteen but imagine any adult watching, that would be HELLA uncomfortable
It's really hard to imagine these characters in highschool because of the stuff they do. Like I say this as a highschooler myself, I can't imagine my peers or myself doing half the stuff they do as 15 year olds.
red Orion Divergent is pretty well known among most of America. It was considered part of the top 3 YA dystopia novels at the time, along with The Hunger Games and Maze Runner. It’s not rare for people to know the book.
Honestly I feel like The Outsiders would be a pretty good one to do this for! Going from the book, characters such as Sodapop, Dallas, and possibly Bob are drastically different in looks to their movie counterparts!
Nah, Robert does a lot better playing weird roles than heartthrobs like Cedric. We loved him as Cedric because it was the classic pretty-good-boy role for a pretty boy, but it didn't show us half of Robert's potential as an actor. I also think he used his distaste of the Twilight franchise to pull-off a perfectly distant and sarcastic Edward. At least it showed us a little more of him than HP.
This is probably not gonna get noticed but PLEASE do the His Dark Materials books or the Narnia books, both adaptations (the BBC one for HDM) we’re very good but lacked in a few areas.
Wish you drew Jacob with a more “native” looking nose, as a Latina with a lot of native blood one of things I find most most most attractive about Native American men/Latinos who phenotypically look more native is their “larger”, sharper, strong, aquiline noses 😍
that's just her style of art honestly. With more cutesy anime styles, it's difficult to have huge variations in noses and cheeks/jawbones like that. I think she did really well for her style.
This might be the anime nerd in me but I do like your rendition of Edward better, if we’re going off of ‘perfectly handsome the most beautiful person to ever exist’ it just sort of looks more accurate, like you said movie Edward has more of a rugged good look sort of handsomeness rather than like this really boyish super pretty handsome character
Fun Fact: I grew my bangs out specifically in middle school because the phrase "waterfall of hair" was used in Twilight and I wanted to lure my crush from science class in with my Bella Swan good looks. Ended up just looking like an emo with fuzzy bangs. But seriously though, like what you like. I have no shame for liking Twilight, they're not good books but I like them and that's okay. I think they get a lot of hate because they're stereotypical "girl"/ "teenage girl" media. There are stories that are harmful, but Twilight is not one of them.
mothgirl It kinda is, as it’s telling teens that moping around, having night terrors, and being chronically depressed is normal after a breakup that lasted a few months
The problem I have with Twilight is the relationship of Bella and Edward is toxic. He is controlling and a stalker and the book paints over his bad behavior by saying it's love. That is what is dangerous about the story. If you take it too seriously it teaches girls that a guy stalking you and trying to control you just means he loves you. Also Bella's selflessness when it comes to Edward is kind of ridiculous. She has no sense of self preservation and seems to no longer value herself. The only one that matters is him. That mentality is unhealthy.

I think the actress of Bella was a good fit, she fits the look decently, but the actress has no flavor. In every movie I’ve seen her in she’s just bland, same look and emotion always. I think she could have done a lot better if she showed more emotion.
Although I agree she didn't have good personality in the movies, watch the new Charlie's Angels then. And next time look at All the actresses/actors movies.

I just got back from someone criticizing how Bella was a “Mary sue” character
I like your explanation more
Well I mean, she really is in a lot of ways. I would have liked the books and the movies so much better if she hadn't spent so much time pinning over Edward and ignoring her friends and family. I know it's a romance but it just seemed like she didn't have a life of her own. No hobbies or interests outside of being not like other girls.
@Blue Moon Candy That's Star Wars though, those fans are way more defensive.
@Blue Moon Candy and I agree, there are plenty of male characters that are Gary Stues as well. The difference is that characters like Luke Skywalker are written well. A video that I would recommend is 'Why Rae is a Mary sue' by Literature Devil. He does a really good job of explaining.
Blue Moon Candy I agree with what you’ve said but a more in-depth explanation would definitely be ”A Mary or Gary Sue is someone who’s presence warps the story around them.”
This, in my opinion, means stuff like a harem storyline, overpowered characters, or everyman characters. I have never read Twilight myself but to accuse Bella of being a Mary Sue I would say she would need to tick these boxes.
A) Any character that interacts with her gets pulled to extremes. Such as hating her at first glance, instaromance, or just acting odd and or out of character
B) The whole plot revolves around her getting what she wants without doing anything. Basically the world and everyone in it is bending over backwards to allow her to get a happy ending.
B and a half) she only reacts to things but still gets what she wants without taking action
C) her character is mindless with little to no potential and a bland personality that does not grow or change
D) no matter what morally wrong things she might do no one faults her for too long
"Mary Sues" are more of a product of annoying author manipulation.

Honestly, even though Robert Pattison may not have been the perfect person appearance wise in the movie, he was the best acting wise in all the movies. Hate on me if you want, but compared to everyone else, Robert was good. He's a fantastic actor out of Twilight as well.
@The Cløwn he did 😂. Watch any interview of the press tours and he's always joking of how much he hated being in the movies
Which character was he?
Edit: I now know he played Edward. 😅
True
I think most actors were good enough for the story. Kristen made Bella a movie version of the black canvas she was in the books, Robert was the right amount of distantly charming and sometimes sarcastic to make a good Edward, Taylor made Jacob one the most accurate portrayals of a super-hormonal, super annoyed teenager I've ever seen lol
Also, Billy Burke is a perfect dad, I'll never be able to unsee the dad-ness in him, and Anna Kendrick made Jessica a 100 times better than her book counterpart.
I don't think they were? Lucy in the illustrations at least definitely has dark hair, their ages always seemed just fine to me?
edmund and lucy were closer in age to peter and susan in the books, but i think in general the movies fit the vibe that the books were giving off regarding the personalities of the characters. the biggest divergence is with edmund - skandar keynes became a lot more brooding and attractive than his book counterpart ever got to be - but surprisingly his coloring was never mentioned in the books. the age was well suited in lww, and subsequent movies didn't match the age mainly due to the filming taking longer than a year. actually, the biggest difference in character description is with prince caspian, who was blonde and 12 in the books but 21 and brunette in the movies. part of me wishes they went with the younger age since it would explain a lot more of his actions, but i can't help but enjoy the fact that i got to stare at ben barnes for a couple of hours.
I just wish the other other books became movies. I feel like there's so much potential for Narnia to be great like HP and LOTR if only they could get a little push in the right direction. Last Battle could be really good since the actors are already aged up a bit. And they could use that to their advantage in Horse and His Boy too.
Yes! I hope LavenderTowne will make a video about Narnia 👀👀
yeah, when i first watched the movies i constantly complained about the fact that in the books Lucy was described as blonde, but she has dark brown hair in the movie

CuteKitten 43 people love twilight now
There was a whole twilight renaissance tho, like honestly some of the long posts old fans wrote analyzing the story for what it was and its cultural impact was very interesting.
For real🙄, but at least people give it more credit now. Can you imagine a video like this existing in like 2012?
Lol. Hope you have a wonderful day!!
i know right! you got fans here romanticizing edward watching bella sleep and they defend his behavior by saying it’s “love”.
I was going to say, she openly admitted that Bella was a sort of self insert/ Mary Sue. You can’t argue that.
Your version of Edward is way cuter than the movie version.
Change my mind.
I totally agree, I think the actor himself is handsome for example like in his casting of cedric diggory, but they made him so ugly in this franchise
I KNOW RIGHT?! THIS IS EDWARD NOW. this is how he will stay forever.
Yes lol
*y e s*
Agreed
Challenge idea:
A bunch of artists each read descriptions of characters from books and draw them, then are presented with how those characters are in the movie/show adaptations.
Super nice idea!
Nice idea! That'd be really interesting! (also appreciating the Confinement profile pic!)

Fun fact: Fifty shades of grey started as a Twilight fan fiction.
Well, you learn something new everyday so
Wtf-
Well, yikes.
Holy moly
I know that I just like forgiving that fact because it scares me
You should do one of these next:
IT by Stephen King (specifically Bill)
A series of Unfortunate Events
The Maze Runner
A wrinkle in Time
I would love to see her interpretation of a series of unfortunate events
In all honesty as someone who’s read IT I think they casted very well for the kid version of the Losers club, expect his hair isn’t very red
Yeah, the maze runner would be awesome!
Honestly I can't find many problems with A Series Of Unfortunate Events but I'd still love to see it. Also maybe even A Little Princess (I didn't like that one) or Anne Of Green Gables
That sounds good. I think they casted the maze runner pretty well but there are a few things I’d change
The funny thing about this is that in the official authors guide they have artistic renditions of what the characters are supposed to look like
Silence Ellis Yeah, they do. I have the book-
Even Harry Potter does have things similar to that, but people _still_ think Harry and Hermione are black (Not that I have anything against black people :)
@@Gibmeprimogemss Yet you still had to try and make a comment on it. You're not slick.
Seeing these depictions, I have a strange feeling that if the series had been animated as opposed to a live-action film, it would have received a wider reception and aged a lot better (examples of well-aged animation: sailor moon, any studio ghibli, hell most disney films)
I don't think though, that the books or animes would have been nearly as successful

Okay but your drawing of Jacob killed me - he’s so wholesome looking it makes me wanna read twilight again with that image of him in mind
I was just talking to my friend about twilight!
(there’s a bit of a twilight renaissance on tumblr rn)
The best way to sum my relationship with twilight up is just to copy paste what I was telling him:
I had a bit of a twilight phase mostly to try and get peeps to like me, and also because I was obsessed with vampire lore in general and didn’t understand why the people who would bully me for that were suddenly reading a book about vampires
Then I found really good well written fanfics that made me really love the characters.
I jumped on the hating twilight bandwagon honestly partially because of self hate and also it was no longer my style and it just didn’t keep my interest
I later settled mostly into a “idc u do u, i hate cringe culture so like whatever you like” state of mind
And recently I’ve been like moderately interested in it again bc there’s a twilight renaissance on tumblr and it’s cute and honestly just predominantly happy stories about vampires is a cute concept.
I love your art btw (I’m a little heart broken you didn’t do Alice or Emmet tho gotta say! :p)

i-
I've had a realization that hit me with a brick and now I can't unsee it: they cast older actors to play young people because they might be talking about sex and you can't have a minor engaging in sexual activities or even innuendo's on film because that would be basically normalizing child pornography.
They could fix that by just NOT portraying their adolecent charecters having sex.
HAVE THEY EVER THOUGHT OF THAT?

Pattinson was better as Cedric. He was handsome, kind and lovable as Cedric. Edward just wasn’t the right role for him.
I thought the same! It fit him well. Also, he played a french guy in The King. He was also better there than in Twilight.
Yes definitely I loved him as Cedric but when I watched him in twilight I was like: ‘eh not really feeling you...’
I saw something where Robert said he'd rather play Cedric than Edward
I don't think Kristen was the right one for Bella

Wish you drew Jacob with a more “native” looking nose, as a Latina with a lot of native blood one of things I find most most most attractive about Native American men/Latinos who phenotypically look more native is their “larger”, sharper, strong, aquiline noses 😍
Kiya Luque that’s what I thought too, I’m Native American and I’m like that nose and lack of high large cheekbones kinda bugs me
yeah very good point
No cheek bones!
that's just her style of art honestly. With more cutesy anime styles, it's difficult to have huge variations in noses and cheeks/jawbones like that. I think she did really well for her style.
Kiya Luque nose fetish
This might be the anime nerd in me but I do like your rendition of Edward better, if we’re going off of ‘perfectly handsome the most beautiful person to ever exist’ it just sort of looks more accurate, like you said movie Edward has more of a rugged good look sort of handsomeness rather than like this really boyish super pretty handsome character
you should make the other characters from the movie, especially Reneesme CAUSE OH BOY
There are stories that are harmful, but Twilight is not one of them.
you can't really expect a good story as fast as they were written, even the first movie itself was shot in like a little over a month
mothgirl It kinda is, as it’s telling teens that moping around, having night terrors, and being chronically depressed is normal after a breakup that lasted a few months
I really think that the book characters are prettier than on the movie, but I still like tho...
