The reason I enjoy older adaptations (specifically Jane Austen type ones), is that the casts almost always look more realistic. By this I mean that old characters are actually old and wrinkly, "ugly" characters aren't almost always assimilated and cast as conventionally attractive, etc.
Yeah, if anything, Lady Danbury's looks are very much irrelevant. Some people have complained that the old lady acts "too sassy, too modern" for the time... But if you go to your Jane Austen, old RICH ladies sometimes acted like that because they could. Darcy's aunt Lady Catherine De Bourgh really talked without giving a s*** about other people's opinions. And Emma Woodhouse clearly states that "it's only poverty that makes celibacy unappealing" -quoting from memory, so probably wrong-. Which means that young women trying to marry, and married women of fertile age (all of whom required societal respect and had to act with certain propriety, because paternity DNA tests didn't exist yet, so their behaviour had to always be unimpeachable, out of the slightest sliver of suspicion) had to behave very, very well. Older women without money who depended on the favour of richer friends (who gave them presents of fish and game and stuff) also had to behave a certain way. But, rich single ladies or rich widows? They could do and say whatever the hell they wanted, and considering most of them had probably gone through the previous stages of losing sleep because of what other people might have thought or said about them, it makes TOTAL sense that those women, at a certain age in their lives, said "f*** off, I'm going to go TOTALLY UNFILTERED now". I love them.
I just reread the books and anytime it mentioned that Lucy is blonde with long waves I had to readjust my image of her because the actress just took over the image in my mind!😆
I think the more wage descriptions about the man in romance novels is there to leave some space for the readers imagination so that they can be attractive to any reader.

Could do a by-the-book for Monster High? Monster high actually had a 4 book series written by Lisi Harrison that started in 2010. Unlike other franchises, the books were written as promotion for the release of Monster High toy line. However, the books were written during development of the toys and story so the author didn’t know everything and was able to tell a unique story. I don't know if you saw my comment about some newly rediscovered fairy tales; the holy Trinity of fairy tales; Grimm, Perrault, and Hans Christian Anderson has now become a quartet! Franz Xavier von Schönwerth traveled pretty much everywhere in Bavaria. Most of his work was thought to be lost, until 2009, when 30 boxes of manuscripts were uncovered in a German municipal archive. "The Turnip Princess" was published under Penguin Classics in English in 2015. I'm extremely curious of how you would portray/ interpret the characters of the nearly 70 stories found in this book.

I would love to recommend The Wheel of Time book if it hasn't already been mentioned for a future video! There is a live action series that follows the first book, and I believe there are massive differences between the book and the adaptation that would be interesting to see side by side lol
I just got home from work, my mom is watching this show right now and this video is the first thing I see when I check my RUclips notifications that’s a crazy coincidence lol
As for Colin's fashion - in Eloise's book it's mentioned that all the Brigerton men prefer to dress in black and white and avoid the fashionable colors of the ton.
@@LavenderTowne if you do please also draw Cockroach-Agatha. They totally not included it in the movie, but Agatha does transform into a cockroach to meet Sophie (cause it's forbidden) and she is discribed so well.
@@LavenderTowne Would you please consider drawing the old, masked School Master/young Rafal? The script (NOT the actor) completely ruined his villain plot/characterization because his stated motives weren't the same as they were in the books, meaning, like Lady Danbury no longer being a mentor figure, his role in the narrative changed, unfortunately.
I would love to see LavenderTowne’s take on 100% Wolf by Jayne Lyons. The novel was originally released in 2008 and said novel got an animated movie adaptation in 2020. The movie isn’t completely faithful to the source material since it changes a lot of the lore and designs the characters had in the book. The original book has illustrations done by Victor Rivas, who has a Tim Burton-esque art style. I hope she covers this book and movie for a future video.
oh, i have a suggestion! maybe the characters from the shadowhunters chronicles? :D that netflix show? the books (the mortal instruments by cassandra clare) are really fun and the characters are very interesting, if you want to do it it would be so awesome to see your turn at them!
Having read all of the books I have to say the Netflix adaptation really builds on what is very bare bones in the source material. It’s far more enjoyable than the way the books were originally written and feels like a really incredible new take on a really overly done setting. I’ve never seen a period piece done like that and it’s so refreshing to see :’). The original book designs weren’t necessarily my favourites but the casting choices have been phenomenal as the chemistry by all love interests (season 1 excluded sorry to Simon but oof) has been incredible to watch.
Hiiii! I’m not sure if you have but I think it would be fun if you did a by the book of the outsiders :) I think most of the characters are pretty different from the movie
I lovee all your videos, theyre all so relaxing; Your extremly calming voice, the quiet music in the bg that fit what youre drawing, and of course your really aesthetically pleasing art
it's okay to draw a character as the race as depicted in the book rather than the Netflix adaptation, ya know. the series is called "by the book", after all.

my mom, aunts, and grandma have been OBSESSED with this series!!! I'm not old enough to watch the series but I love your interpretation and let me just say its reallllyyyyyy cute!!!!!!!
I’d love if you did a By the Book of Stephen Kings IT! The book descriptions of the losers are soo different from the movies (especially the 1990 version!)
Your by the book series is amazing!! I think a by the book for LotR or Shadow and Bone/Six of Crows would be really cool
Would totally love one for Six of Crows❤
I didn’t expect Bridgerton!! Super excited about this - also this is the earliest I’ve been to a video 👀
YOU LOOK SO PRETTY AND ETHEREAL IN THE BEGINNING OMG
I love this series !! PLEASE do interview with a vampire - it was adapted twice and I'd love to see your interpretation of the characters :)
I think doing an episode on "A Wrinkle in Time" would be good. The mc's little brother's design changed a LOT from the book
i just started watching bridgerton because my friend from work was hyped about the new season and i’m on episode 4 of queen charlotte (takes place chronologically after season 2 and before season 3) and omggggg so good by far one of my favorite shows so i’m glad to see this in my feed
do people forget that Julia Quinn CHOSE the actors herself??? The only reason netflix even got the rights to the show was because Julia said she needed to be apart of production. I get that making them match the book is cool, but Julia literally chose them 😭😭
My favorite video series is back! I really love your drawings, especially the ones you did for the Miss Peregrine characters.
Yay! I'm so glad to see this series again! It's definitely one of my favorites! Oh! You should do The Mysterious Benedict Society! Honestly, an amazing book series too, though I have my complaints with the show lmao!
I haven't actually watched the show, but my mom's loves it! Also your art of the characters are so freaking cute!! 🧡💚
I just got into Bridgerton last week and finished finished season 3 on Thursday. I just ordered the books! I do love the casting and Penelope's actress is incredible and so beautiful as well. They are all beautiful really.
I'm excited to see the book descriptions!
I need to see this for The Outsiders by S.E Hinton, the movie changes the designs so much
Lavender could do you do the A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder series when the TV show comes out in a couple days? Id love to see your interpretation of those characters!
14:33- My friend (60+,F) is fond of saying "Black don't crack!" and she doesn't look a day over 49.
It would be cool if you did Divergent! Ik it’s not a series, but there’s still a few movies.
I love the By The Booj series so much! I like how honest and true you try to stay to the book descriptions, because its so satisfying to see it all together as the author describes!!
I would love to recommend The Wheel of Time book if it hasn't already been mentioned for a future video! There is a live action series that follows the first book, and I believe there are massive differences between the book and the adaptation that would be interesting to see side by side lol
Six Of Crows would be a great series to do, also I love your style it’s so fun!!
I just got home from work, my mom is watching this show right now and this video is the first thing I see when I check my RUclips notifications that’s a crazy coincidence lol
CAN WE TALK ABT LAVANDERS OUTFIT?!?! SHE LOOKS SO PRETTY!!!
As for Colin's fashion - in Eloise's book it's mentioned that all the Brigerton men prefer to dress in black and white and avoid the fashionable colors of the ton.
Can we talk about how stunning lavender tone looks
0:42 awww you’re so adorable! ❤
you're designs are as pretty and well thought as usual^^
Please do Outsiders- especially Dally!!! ❤❤❤
YES I NEED TO SEE THE OUTSIDERS
YES!
I've been binging your vids again while drawing my own Oc's for a novel I hope to actually write lol, love your art!!
By The Book! I'm glad this series is back. 💕
Also your Bridgerton costume is so fun! 🍰
your voice is so soothing and calming like girl slay
You should do this for The School For Good and Evil! The movie got so many things wrong and I would love to see you draw the characters!
I actually think that will be next!
@@LavenderTowne YIPPEE!!!
The script (NOT the actor) completely ruined his villain plot/characterization because his stated motives weren't the same as they were in the books, meaning, like Lady Danbury no longer being a mentor figure, his role in the narrative changed, unfortunately.
literally just finished season 3 so this is perfect timing for me 🙈
I would love to see LavenderTowne’s take on 100% Wolf by Jayne Lyons.
Got City of Glass from the library, but I'm finishing the 2nd & 3rd books of Unwind before I'm reading it.
Listening to Collin‘s description in the books I can’t help but picture him as Eddie Redmayne from Fantastic Beasts
This is amazing! I fell in love with the concept, and honestly, I could watch you cover all the seasons up to date without ever getting bored.
Yay new Lavendertowne vid! I love watching your vids while I am drawing
I completely forgot what my username was 💀💀
The art is beautiful! Could you maybe redo the Percy Jackson one with the new Disney show? Shoutout to the lizard- did he get paid?
Having read all of the books I have to say the Netflix adaptation really builds on what is very bare bones in the source material. It’s far more enjoyable than the way the books were originally written and feels like a really incredible new take on a really overly done setting. I’ve never seen a period piece done like that and it’s so refreshing to see :’). The original book designs weren’t necessarily my favourites but the casting choices have been phenomenal as the chemistry by all love interests (season 1 excluded sorry to Simon but oof) has been incredible to watch.
"his resting face appears to be like mewing" I burst out laughing
Hiiii! I’m not sure if you have but I think it would be fun if you did a by the book of the outsiders :) I think most of the characters are pretty different from the movie
My Wife Loves Bridgerton and was super exited about season 3! I love these novel/movie, Comparison/Critique videos. =)
it would be so cool if you did interview with the vampire
You should do interview with the vampire!!
Ooo you have got to do Narnia or Netflix’s Shadow and Bone next
You should do a by the book with Eragon! The adaptation is truly and adaptation of all time
I lovee all your videos, theyre all so relaxing; Your extremly calming voice, the quiet music in the bg that fit what youre drawing, and of course your really aesthetically pleasing art
Actually during that era plumper women were the ideal body type as it showed wealth so she would have been popular
Princess haley omg 💖
wow? You totally got better over the years that Ive been watching your videos. It's noticable. awesome!
it's okay to draw a character as the race as depicted in the book rather than the Netflix adaptation, ya know. the series is called "by the book", after all.
3:47 kinda looks like the sister from princess of egypt
