if you are new to break barrels , understand two things about this rifle. it is not for kids. its too powerful. the other thing is when the Dectective talks about cocking effort it is HIGH. You will be surprised how much effort it takes to cock this rifle. The perfromance however is extraordinary. also - the scope that comes with it is the usual low quality offering, and is hazy at any range. I tried the scope and replaced it quickly.
I never use the Gamo scopes , always replace the first chance I get . Even my .177 is a bear to break open . Also have the 25 caliber and very impressed by the performance . I no longer need my gym membership .
I just got my hunter and out of the box I could tell the front sight was twisted out of alignment- I emailed gamo and let them know - I looked up fixes such as heating up the front sight and twisting it into alignment but I don't want to void the warranty - the shipping package was less than desirable- the barrel had punched through the foam and cardboard box - thankfully they used a beefier box to incase the manufacturer's box - both boxes had a crease in the middle but looking at the rifle it didn't damage it - I bought your trigger and the pellets you ranked high - I fired one shot from the hunter into a commercial plastic drum - went right through it into the ground - I could tell this was a serious beast from one shot - and took some effort cocking it - it's definitely not a toy - it's a serious weapon - it's a man killer with right shot placement
Thanks for sharing the Gamo Hunter Extreme with us, JC! Just one of many awesome airguns available from Gamo Exclusives. Thanks for reviewing these products!
So glad to see open sights! Well done Gamo!
Thank you so much for the scope mount expertise! I’ve been wondering just how to fix that problem and I’m pumped can’t wait to fix it
Great show, fantastic scope mount tip!
Thanks for the heads up! Just purchased the varmint power .22 for $122 shipped! A great intro to plinking!!!
Wow! So accurate and so powerful 👏🏻
Great shooting break barrel JC. Never have seen a one hole group out of any break barrel rifle before. Awesome!
Great Video and Nice shooting. Congrats getting your Website back up.
Hi Steve. The Website Nightmare! It was down 10 out of 12 days. Let's hope it stays up or I'll have to file a theft report for the lack of business. Thanks again for tuning in and I appreciate you leaving comments. 👍👍
When you get a good Gamo, you get a good rifle. I’ve got an HW90 in .25 which is a superb rifle but it is more than twice the price, heavier, not as powerful and more than twice the price. Great review
HW90 a much better product that will last ...yes the HW90 is hard to cock .
@@nilslarson7532 yeah everyone loves a violent recoiling outmoded spring gun with 400-500fps ballistics in .22
Miles that tells me you have never shot a quality German rifle lol...
@@EDCandLace lol tell me bud have you looked over the Weihrauch catalog recently? many of the rifles in .22 have fps ratings in the 400s/500s.....I dont need to actually buy and use every offering to get a ballistic overview or a specs sheet
@@milesstover3724 You are only seeing the the sub 12 fpe models manufactured for the European and British market man. My HW90 is a smooth hard hitter that is well over 12 fpe. Do some more research. Almost all Weihrauch springers are produced in over 12 fpe versions apart from the HW 30s and the HW 35
Love mine. I've had it for a few months now and shoots quarter inch groups. Definitely gonna see if those AEA do better. 👍👍👍👍👍 For all you do for us air gunners and reviews.
I really appreciate you tuning in and thank you for the comments. Happy Shooting!👍👍
Beautiful presentation. Thanks sir
Thank you for watching! 👍🏻
I love the intro!
Beautiful airgun.
Hi Richard, thanks again for your continued support!😉👍
Good video, so good i just ordered one ! thanks JC
Ditto, me too!
We like the AGD consistent testing regimen, and the JC editorial opinion at conclusion. Trust…and math…God bless…
I own several IGT Gamo rifles, was going to roll the dice on the springer Magnum Power 25 based on JC review of the green 22 GR, then they took the sale off yesterday. Rats.
Then saw this JC vid, that did it, placed my order with 15% coupon so 298.00 delivered for the kit.
If a guy/gal watches the gamousa site with coupon, there are amazing bangs for the buck.
So much so that i had to buy a rifle storage rack.
Rack em stack em. Family is loving the new backyard friendly hobby.
Wonderful vid, as always.
While not new to air guns, I'm not even at novice level yet 😁 so much so that I never knew you had to clean the barrel. I've been trained to clean a firearm but have no clue to cleaning an air rifle so, looking forward to that vid.
As an aside, I'd also love to learn how to sight in a scope.
Thank you.
Incredible accuracy!
This was a good one, especially with the AEA pellets! 😉
Strong and incredibly accurate. Congratulations to Gamo 👌
That is a very nice rifle. And as always a great review, JC .
William, thanks for watching and have a fantastic weekend! 😉
Got mine on the Fourth of July and have loved every shot. That thing is amazing. Not to mention lethal. It shoots like a fine piece of art in both precision and handling. Thanks for the recommendation. It is now in a third place tie for my favorite gun with a Smith and Wesson 38 special police model in just being a pleasure to shoot behind the 44 magnum Smith & Wesson 6 1/2 inch revolver and a 22 Winchester pump action rifle that was made in 1900.
I really think you undersell that adjustable Gamo scope. I don't use mine on the 25 but use it with my 22 and I guarantee you at night time it will pick up more light than your scope with its large receiving lens.
I don't know why anyone would use a scope at all with those beautiful iron sites that were cited perfectly for me on arrival. My very first shot at 12 yards was a bull's-eye that went through a very thick book and the plywood behind it.
✌️❤️🖖
These are great scopes for the price. They hold up to the heavy breakbarrel recoil and have a 1 year warranty. amzn.to/3A7tmYd Happy Shooting!
Very nice . thanks JC
Thank you for tuning in! 😉👍
Excellent review! Loved it! BTW where did you procure the scissor table holding your bag? That is an awesome idea!
Great review! Crazy gamo stepping up it's game! AEA pellets!
Those AEA pellets were seriously the last pellets I tried, and they crushed to competition. 😉
@@AirgunDetectives already ordered some! Your right, pellets matter. Like my hw97s not 2 pellet picky but?? My tx200 wont shoot any pellet accurate besides 8.44/4.51 seriously.
Really sharp looking rifle with some excellent performance! Thank you for this review. I love that stock (I'm a real fan of classic wood stocks). I haven't tried your trigger kits, but a friend and I made some huge improvements to our Gamo triggers with a bearing and a screw. I don't remember if we needed a pin as well. Much nicer trigger after just a few minutes of work.
Thank you for watching!👍👍
Great review if this awesome rifle. Pcp accuracy with those aea pellets!!
HI Greg, yes this was quite the performer. I was really surprised how well those AEA pellets performed. 👍👍
Real good video
Thanks for tuning in!👍👍
Hey john, You should do a video about the crosman 2240, I know you done the gravmag video but it would be cool to see a video with shooting tests and available mods etc, its a classic beloved pistol so i think it deserves a proper video on your channel, Keep up the great work.
Nice!
Can you do a side by side comparison with a Hatsan 125/135 .25? Very curious!! Love your reviews!
yeah man i like to see this also i have the hatsan 135 sniper .25 ..It is very hard to break .and atfer 5 shot's your arm hurt's ..your breething is of etc etc..(old man here )
We don't want to make hatsan look bad.
Good Afternoon , how are you JC ? i hope you have a great weekend . not forgotten intro JC .... Love your Show JC ... Cheers From England
Hi Simon, it is always great to hear from you! Have a fantastic weekend. 👍😉
@@AirgunDetectives enjoy your time
Good review, convinced me I should buy the rifle, I was hesitant at first with other reviews, but your was more complete and you used compatible pellets.
Do you have a video showing how to install the trigger screw you sell ??
Very Nice
After what Gamo did to me on the 22 Version of this rifle, I will not ever buy from them again. Too bad, I would like to get the 25 Version.
Man as alway's .I trust these clip's hand's down .Greetz from the netherland's
I appreciate you watching! 👍
Great a 25 cal break barrel that seems to meet or exceed the Benjamin np trail in 25 (including the price) I love to experiment with pellets and now I have a new source! Thanks!
I may have to do a 3-way comparison between the Gamo, Benjamin Trail XP, and the Hatsan Sniper. I fully tunned the Bejamin and it is a beast, so the competition could be good!👍👍
@@AirgunDetectivesdid u full tuning ur trail 725? If I may ask you how u did? I have BT xl 1100 np,but I am thinking about xl 725 to buying
Great presentation! Great rifle! The rifle is definitely a hunter, and like others the problem is when your in the field every shot you fumble for the next pellet, so, any type of a clip is better in the field, and this excellent rifle is no exception. Thank you.
I really appreciate you watching and thank you for leaving comments. 👍😉
I found the Air Venturi pellet pen makes reloading a single shot break barrel a lot easier. Sadly they don't make one for . 25 caliber
I’ll look into that thank you
very nice wall paper in behind you got there.
Thanks Buddy!😉
I've got the .25 after firing 300 plus rounds with mixed pellets the 21.75 that Gamo supplied they slowed down to around 655 fps I live in NC the predator gto 16.54 are 850 fps at 75 they can do 1.5 groups I've got a h&n that weight is 20.09 gr I try next
Awesome Gamo Rifle. I have seen other shooters have good results with the AEA Pellets. Going to have to check some of those out. I would like to see you shoot some of those AEA pellets out of the other Gamo rifles you have such as the Gamo Bone Collector. You are getting as much power out of that as my Air Arms S510XS in .22 caliver. Nice review. Your CAT Trigger Screw is a nice addition to the Gamo.
I just received those pellets, so when I have the opportunity, I will test some other rifles. Thanks for tuning in and I appreciate your comments. 😉
@@AirgunDetectives your welcome JC
@@AirgunDetectives I ordered your CAT trigger today. I bought the Bone Collector.
If I had one 60 yrs ago rabbits and squirrels would be on the endangered list
Great video
Hey JC!!!
Hope you and your family are all well and happy. It's been a while since I had time to watch videos, so I'm going to be binge watching to catch up. I am glad to start off with one of yours.
So, off the bat, I was wondering if the Gamo Hunter Extreme in .25 is worth the money vs. a Gamo Swarm Magnum in .22 because the power plant is the same, and with the SWARM, you have quick follow-up shots, a lightweight, all-weather, rugged, synthetic stock , AND the fpe is essentially the same. Personally, I think not. I do like the beautiful wood stock of the .25, though.
If Gamo put a SWARM mechanism and kept iron sights on it, I would buy that version in a heartbeat. But going from .22 to .25 doesn't seem to have that many advantages. More accuracy and stability in windy conditions, and possibly farther ranges can be achieved with heavy slugs.
What are your thoughts? Is it worth it to move up in caliber if I already have a bunch of .22 airguns?
Thanks for another great video.
Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.
Hi Ken, I hope you and your son are doing well! If you don't own a .25 caliber, you should. The power is fantastic. Picture the difference between a .177 and a .22. Going from .22 to .25 is a comparable difference. These are great hunters as well and the wood stock is amazing. 😉👍👍
Ola JC, nice intro and excellent review as always. I agree with your idea of improving the quality and beauty of the Gamo butts in partnership with BSA. This is a good Gamo springer magnum without a doubt. Here in Europe they have this model with the Whisper system. Gamo Hunter 1250 Grizzly Pro Whisper IGT but 5.5 or 4.5 1.77. Have a good weekend. Cheers
Hey Buddy, It is always nice seeing your comments. I hope all your little 4-legged pals are good! Have a great weekend. 👍👍
If you find a pellet which your barrel likes and groups far better than the rest it's a good idea to buy more tins with the same batch number if possible.
hey JC in the video for the 2023 shot show Stoeger at 2 min into the video you were looking at a wood stock underlever cant any find that look like that, love the stock on it, i have a s6000, but not that type of stock, any idea who sells those? thanks
Nice :)
I have a hatsan 125 25 cal springer i haven't shot it much i would luv too send it to you so you can do a side by side comparison to this rifle
Thanks for your review. I literally just watched your video, 'pulled the trigger', and ordered this rifle from Gamo. I will soon be ordering your trigger kit and the AEA pellets as well. Can you recommend a scope similar to the one you used in the video that is currently available?
@kdpjsp These scopes are affordable, have a warranty and are rated for breakbarrels amzn.to/3YtWJOh
Happy Shooting 👍🏻
Was the barrel cleaned before shooting? Was the pellets cleaned an oiled before shooting?
I love my gamo hunter extreme se in 177 because 3/4 plywood at 35 yards didn't stand a chance there were splinters flying all the time
Yes I love my Gamo Hunter Extreme .177 also . Had mine since 2009 still performing very good .
@@joedokes8641 I need to replace the barrel on my rifle. Sucks very much that it wasn't a fixed barrel
had one in 0177. not accurate and trigger horrible. Broke a decent scope .
@@nilslarson7532 Your right the triggers leave a little to be desired . Recoil is fierce and can defiantly break a cheap scope . Replaced the trigger with a GTR trigger first thing . The scope that came with mine is history , I spent many a hour and pellets trying to sight that thing in (NO GO ). I always figured it has to be the gun ? I thought I need to sell this P.O.S. Then I replaced the scope and everything changed . That thing is a hunting machine. It has held zero since 2009 . Glad I didn't give up , she's my go to gun for long range flat shooting of rock chucks , squirrels and chipmunks . For a .177 she packs wallop with 10.5 grain @ 970 fps. Crosman Ultra Magnums , tried other pellets but she says no way .
the JTS & AEA are the same Exact pellet from the same factory out of the same moulds
Great group .. does it have a steel breech block ? Is a it a gas piston ?is it hard to cock ?
Thanks JC
Breech block is all metal . Gas piston and yes cocking effort is hefty depending on your ability .
JC what scope did you have on it?
Do scope go out of alignment for elevation on break barrels over time?
Ya JC is Chuck Norris with a pellet gun lol. But you gotta watch the co2 pistol playlist shots all over the place. Like my group’s 😂
Is it possible to install a moderator on it? And if so can you recommend which?
I've heard a lot about Break Barrel Air guns ruining scopes. Is it safe to put a thermal scope on this gun?
I went on a zip wire like that in Tiblisi, Georgia , the Georgia in Asia not North America....or indeed the sub Antarctic island of South Georgia !,a few years ago.
That is definitely a thrill! Thanks for watching! 👍
Good iguana plinker. Do you have them where you are?
I am in the San Diego area, no Iguanas here, but I know they are out-of-control in Florida! 👍👍
Do you screw your screw mod all the way in? I don't have trigger lbs tester just wondering . I'm going too order 2 ad one bipod kit. Don't want to intall the bipod on my extreme hunter. 25 but do want them on my gen 2 swarm magnum polymer stock
Sometimes you just don't want to alter that beautiful wood stock. As far as the trigger screw goes, I have videos to show the installation. You go slow and safely, with very small increments to adjust to your liking. No, the screw does not get adjusted all the way in. 👍👍
Hatsan, eat your heart out
Is it better and more powerful than the Hatsan .30 Cal?
32-33fpe thats alot of fpe, youre sure it not dieseling thats up the fpe a bit.
Mine .22 do 27fpe
So .25 mist be around 29fpe
That subscribe button is not in the righthand corner anymore, long time now. 😀
What elevation are you at JC? You always seem to get about 2 - 4 FPE more with the same guns that I do with similar pellets. I'm about 500 ft elevation on the Washington coast. By the way, you should give shooting lessons.
I am near the San Diego coast at about 800 feet. I may do a video and provide a few basic tips. I appreciate you tuning in and thank you for your comments. 👍👍
I'm close to sea level near the Texas coast so I like these reviews better then some of the other higher elevations.
I have a Gamo big cat in 25 cal it's advertised as shooting ( up to 800 fps ) and out of the box brand new the absolute best fps i can get with the lightest pellet i can find is a whopping 289 fps !! And it will shoot a 18 inch group at 10 yards ! So if youre shooting at a elephant at 10 yards you might hit it ! And before someone says try different pellets out of it i have tried 14 different 25 cal pellets in the gun with the same results with accuracy and even lower fps !
289fps? Yeah send that back.
Send it back !!!!
@@michaelwthalman
The problem is I paid $129.99 for the gun and it would cost me $79.00 one way to ship it back to Gamo then it would cost me another $79.00 for Gamo to ship it back to me so it's not worth the $158.00 to send it back to Gamo !
@@timmy4539 I understand that very much. I have 2 air piston break barrels that crapped out and to send in to get fixed just about cost the same as buying new ones. It's a racket. However, I'm going to make my own press so, I can hopefully replace springs and air pistons myself...
@@timmy4539You could try calling GamoUSA and be firm with them. Tell them to pay for shipping. Not saying that will work, but it has for me if you get the right rep.
This gun would be great for anchoring small game. Scope mounting tips are always appreciated. 😎
Bruce, thanks for watching!😉
Can you get that on Air Gun Depot
I wish gammo would do away with the plastic triggers
I have no issues with these CAT or SAT triggers. I have never had one fail me and they are simple to modify. 👍

How does the hunter extreme stack up against the Hatsan Mod 125 sniper .25? Seems like it's a little more powerful.
I would say, very comparable. Very close. Revisit my video on the Hatsan Snipers. 👌🏼😉 If I had to pick one, I would give the Gamo a slight edge.
@@AirgunDetectives I watched your vid on the Sniper. That's why I bought one. Last week Hatsan was offering the Mod 125 @ 20% off with free shipping and no tax. So like $103 to the door.

Very interesting! I used to get similar groups out of my Gamo Shadow .25 with Jsb Exact Kings (25.39gr) 🤔. Funny tho that with open sights at around 18yds meant that I had to go & check the p.o.i of pellets after each shot 👨🏽🦯. 1st few times trying to 0 it, I was absolutely disgusted that I kept missing the whole entire target only to quickly find out it was just 1 hole, pellet on pellet 😅 awesome accuracy, think you're right maybe there's some BSA hammer forged wizardry involved with the barrels 🤷🏽♂️
An air gun scope without a parallax adjustment is literally pointless.
The RRR is just a marketing gimmick and does not reduce any recoil. The front part gets fastened to the rifle's dovetail and cannot move, so what is it's purpose? It is just a riser.
OF COURSE on the video it’s one hole as fraction of the size of the .5 inch groups you said the chosen pellets shot. Well maybe slightly smaller 🤷♂️. People that put any weight other than entertainment in this channel are crazy. Lol
Every gun you have ever done tests exactly the same.
JC is a boss. Don’t troll JC
I really enjoyed the review....but...yes but... how can a disposable rifle get 5 stars? Gamo's policy is THEY DO NOT SELL PARTS FOR ANY RIFLE THEY SELL...😂...so this beautiful break barrel only needs to have a minor maintenance issue and it's garbage...all break barrel rifles spring or gas ram will need to have the spring or piston replaced at one point and when you contact Gamo they don't sell parts.. period...all will need a piston seal..every last one of em will need piston seal replacement... Gamo won't sell it to you 😂.... Gamo = disposable junk...I'm not trying to drag Gamo through the mud..just stating facts... just trying to inform others before they buy this garbage THE WAY I WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE INFORMED ME BEFORE I PUT MY RIFLE/ MONEY IN THE TRASH...
At least someone’s keeping it real
Google and you can get seals for a Gamo that are higher quality than come on German rifles, "moly impregnated"
Mike so true !!
I've had 7 out of 11 Junko ( Gamo ) brake barrels bad right out of the box ! Bad barrels ' bad seals one of them the first time I shot it or should I say tried to shoot it the whole magazine and all of its parts broke off of the gun ! Yes I did say magazine it was a swarm Magnum ! So I share your opinion if you're thinking about buying a Gamo just flush your money down the toilet at least that way you won't have to worry about how to fix a piece of junk !!
@@zap7759...I'm going to share a little knowledge with you that you will either learn right now or you will learn with the passage of time... no parts will ever be superior or equivalent to OEM components...if you open up the engine or transmission of your car/truck and want it right.. replace with OEM if you want it mickey mouse/ if you want problems go aftermarket... this is true with cars..trucks.. motorcycles.. rifles.. pistols..you name it

Sad part about a kit like this is paying for the pellets, scope ect ect.. gamo pellets are garbage (use em for break in a guess) and the scope is nothing more than a paper weight.... if they just sold the gun alone for 180-200 ide buy one in a heart beat.
