I just received my rifle yesterday. Spent all morning and afternoon shooting. I love it already! I know there is a break in period but I was getting hole in hole @ 30 yards. Pushed it out to 50 yards and smacked a 4" steel spinner for 20 consecutive shots. I am far from an experienced shooter and this rifle makes me smile! I've only shot the Hades 15,89 Grain so far. Mannnnn do they mushroom nicely @ 50 yards. Yes, the cocking effort is heavy. But for the power this beast is releasing it's worth it! I can't wait to see what the next 500 shots will produce. Very happy with my purchase. Get yourself one!
I have the Gen 1 Swarm in .22. It has been great. I've taken many ground squirrels with it out to 40 yards. I just ordered your $10 trigger upgrade. That is a pretty good deal for a less than 2 pound trigger.
I recently bought the pro version of this rifle. I absolutely love it. It is very accurate right out of the box, and I mean really accurate. Mine loves the H&N Baracuda Hunter, the H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme and the Gamo Rocket pellets. I was shooting pcp's a lot, but this one gave me back the love for break barrels. I recommend it 100%. Thank you, JC, for your advice and enthousiasm. Keep doing what you do. Greetings from Belgium, Europe.
BTW...I just shipped out a trigger screw kit to a viewer in Belgium. $2.00 for shipping, so $11.99 total. Email me if you want one for your Gamo. info@airgundetectives.com 😉👍🏻
What a beautiful property. Great review brother. Barely trying to get into air rifles for backyard plinking and I am learning a lot from you. Thank you.
Nice to know that the magasins of Gen2 fit for this Gen3. I didn't see anyone say it before on YT. The trigger kit is a fun fact, but for most people think it's best to leave this job to a gunsmith like you said.
The head of the stock screw is bottomed out on the trigger assembly, so it can't be turned in any further. I went to the hardware store and got a screw 2mm longer, and bottomed out that head also. Did the job nicely and passed my bump tests easily. I understand the liability JC is worried about with his vids, and I know our education system is terrible today. But to me, it is insulting to mankind to have a gun smith laugh at you, if you can find one who even cares to do it. He might call the cops on you under some red flag law, if you can't figure that out. lol
So you answered my question with this video... Hatsan sniper vortex qe .22 924 FPS "27" FPE Gamo Swarm Magnum GEN3i .22 H&N BARRACUDA GREEN 997 FPS "28" FPE FIELD TARGET TROPHY 935 FPS "28.5" FPE H&N HORNET 895 FPS "28.8" FPE Comparing your two different videos it looks like Gamo Swarm Magnum GEN3i is the more powerful break barrel air rifle Good stuff. Thanks for all the informative videos 👍
Gamo Red Fire are also very accurate in this rifle and so should the Daisy HP 15.27-4 grain pellets since they are very similar except the HP doesn’t have a plastic tip. Would love to see the DHPs in your lineup since many of us use them for hunting/pesting/plinking, and target.
Been seeing this one around. Thanks for sharing JC! Their website mentions the new feeding system improves accuracy by making pellet inesertion more consistent. I own a number of Gamo rifles and I'm impressed with the performance for the price. I like the Magnum but I'm not sure I need one? I will probably never go hunting so personally the Fusion or Maxxim are fine for me. Take care bud and have a great holiday weekend with the family!!! I'm going to spend some of this weekend shooting my new Umarex MP7 break barrel carbine!!😁
Starter for what? There at the top of the food chain for break barrels. Your not going to get a combo of more power and accuracy out of a break barrel and the add in the fact that they weight 2-3 lbs less than most break barrels. They are a great first air rifle if you want the power for fun or hunting. They also help build up upper body strength while cocking them. after 50 shots you got a good workout. After a week of shooting they feel much easier to cock :).
@@charlesoutdoors2424 yeah that guy Frank Cross doesn't know what he's saying talking bout starter rifle, this is Gamo's most powerful air rifle at the moment my cons for this rifle are it's a little too heavy and long, the recoil is too strong it bruises my face after 5-8 shots and my .177 sometimes still breaks the sound barrier with h&n 10.65 pellets when trying to be descrete
The gamo swarm maxim gen 2 i got with a scope was garbage. Wouldnt hold a zero past about 20 shots. I will save it for a bb gun, paintball or airsoft gun.
Hello JC, thanks for discussing the compatibility of the Gen 2 magazines with the Gen 3i system. I just got a Gamo Bone Collector Gen 3i and I thought I would have to spend more money on magazines for the new system. Fortunately I have 8 mags for my .22 Gamo Swarm Magnum Gen 3i (which is so difficult for me to cock that I can barely use it!) and I am really glad to know that these Gen 2 mags work with the latest system.
Yeah I watch these reviews where bigger guys can cock these rifles with one hand. I am only 5’6” and haven’t got the reach or leverage to do that. It’s a two hand pull for me. But I love the power and the accuracy.
The Gamo rifles are really nice guns. I have two of them, and you're right, they are doing something right because both of mine are also incredibly accurate. I really like the feel of them too. The balance is just right and they feel solid, but light. Power of course is superb no matter which Gamo rifle you have. I've had great luck with the red fire pellets for squirrel hunting. Most of my shooting is around 20 to 50 yards max. *Keep the screws in the stock tight!
I had done my research and originally ordered a Gen 2 off of Amazon a year ago to own my first break barrel air riffle and shoot targets. I always use family & and friends' riffles to go plinking or to shoot targets. Well, when it showed up in the mail I took apart the box and checked out the riffle but something didn't add up. The magazine colors didnt look like a gen 2, and the loader mechanism looked different. I looked back at the box logo & info. It said Gen 3. 😮 🤯 I think somebody in shipping messed up. Since I never got charged the difference 😬😂 cool riffle. I love plinking with this riffle compared to the other gamo .177 swarm wispers that I've shot. I like using the .22 H&N Barracuda Hunter extreme pellets for pests & and plinking. I feel they are more accurate than the Crossman hollow point pellets that i use more for target practice. I have no experience in firearms, so please excuse me if I said a word or something about the riffle wrong. I do recommend this riffle to people you won't regret it.
I’m sitting here with a brand new .177 in my lap. It was the only break barrel that made sense to buy honestly from my point of view. My last couple air rifles have been an umarex octane in .22 that was an absolute peach of a sweet shooter. And an old crossman phantom I painted flat dark earth lol. The umarex was an amazing rifle for years until my uncle borrowed it, for some reason decided to try to disassemble it and lost pieces.. but without ever shooting this gamo I have to say, it’s a step ahead. The octane was a heavy big magnum gun with a thumbhole stock too, but the gamo is so much lighter and better balanced it really feels good in the hands where as shooting the octane always felt like I was wielding a barrel .50 cal..
Have a gamo maxxim gen 2 .177 just bought the gamo magnum gen 2 .177 just because it has open sights on it. Thanks for this review i feel much more confident in my purchase.
I have had this for a little while now and I am impressed by how much I enjoy it. I had always had the impression that Gamo was no more than plastic junk at walmart, but when I saw this thing I knew I had to give it a shot. Like you said, its incredibly impressive and I can truly say, there is no marketing BS behind these being so popular, they are fantastic rifles and a powerhouse at that.
It will shoot the Crosman domed 14.3g well enough for most things, but the best so far has been the JSB 18.13g and I average 25ftlbs with just about any pellet in my rifle. @@chriskelly509
Great review!! It sold me, I’ve looked at several but kept coming back to this one!! I ordered it this morning!! I’ll definitely look at the trigger up grade!! I’m one of your newest subscribers!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for the great video. I am looking at the Gamo Replay 10X magnum gen2 but then seen a video on the Gamo Whisper Fusion Mark1 they have the Replay, but will have to weight for the Whisper, At 74 the lighter cocking might be worth waiting for. Now I am shooting the Gamo Varmint .177 the scope was not very good so I upgraded to Tasco Air Gun 3-9X40 witch I like got 3/8 " group at 15 yards even with the terrible trigger this rifle has. I found a great pellet for the Varmint .177 it is the Premier Match Grade .177 cal. 7.9 grain, flat head, not only dose it group great but will also go through a 1" peace of pine board.
I think you're the only reviewer that has gotten any kind of accuracy out of gamo breakbarrells the I'd say the upper been around a long time 5 to 10 top reviewers gave it a thumbs down iv had 4 or 5 gamos some that were given to me I could never make them shoot well but I'm glad you did
Good review as always. I do have one question: if the magazine should malfunction or break , can this rifle be shot in single shot hand fed fashion , such as the regular single shot Gamo break barrels?
they look like fix the accuracy too Sir... i got them but i break them and trash cuz accuracy 🤷🏽.. been yrs i found HW97.. heavy but top knot accuracy.. but i think i will buy this gun again .. try it's again.. 👍👍.. thanks Sir
@@AirgunDetectives so the magazine works with h&n hornet, i have an earlier model Gamo swarm max that does not work well with polymer or brass tip pellets, if they are longer than standard pellets do not load well in the magazine
I'd like to see a video tour of your yard/ pool area/ shooting range area. Showing the maximum shooting distance available and what it all looks like. I dream to have a house with a pool and mini shooting range someday.
Awesome, informative video. Thank you. I just ordered mine and cant wait to get it. Do you have any suggestions that i should know about? That would be helpful. Thanks
I'm not sure, but the 10 shot mag definitely makes it a lot of fun. The new gamo magnum gr .25 is rated at 1000 fps, so if anything, that would be the best rifle. Probably at 750 fps in a heavier pellet which would definitely beat the competition in my opinion, the only issue is that you can't get it with swarm 10 shot mag. I've been waiting for the swarm version but maybe they're not making it??? Idk
Its funny you mention finding that fluke pellet , i did the same with my gen 2 . Its the crosman destroyers . Its absolutely stacks them and i get around 29.2 fpe as well.. Who would have thought..lol
I have one of the older model Gamo Magnums and it's a beast. Accurate and powerful. But, the cocking effort is rough. And I'm not a weak guy, but after being out in the woods with it for close to an hour, my arms are worked out. Maybe one day they'll come out with something that makes these break barrels a bit easier to cock, but then again I guess you cant have everything. Thanks JC...I really enjoyed this one.
this video was the reason why I bought my first air rifle. Thank you JC for the great trigger product. Looking forward to installing it and dialing in this same exact air rifle. Appreciate the time you spend explaining in great detail the nuances of this gamo air rifle and the very helpful tips. Looking forward to more content. Perhaps you might demonstrate how to bore sight this air rifle with a laser bore sight? Just a suggestion. I posted a question about that on a reddit thread and got conflicting information about whether it is even possible to precisely zero the scope with a laser bore device...the concern was the moderator design and baffles inside that might interfere with a laser bore sight device. I have not tried it yet, so perhaps you might look at that and see if there is a method, or a workaround. The reason I am recommending this is due to many that are stating that the OEM scope does not hold zero very well and thus a replacement scope with more durability is recommended. I anticipate this will probably hold true and thus setting zero for the scope will be necessary. I know how to do a proper live fire zero, but coming from a powder rifle background, bore sighting saves alot of time and money and it's been my experience it is far more simple to get to a near perfect zero...without sending a round down range. And that is helpful for lots of reasons, mainly that it can be done in the backyard and not scare the pajamas out of my sleepy neighbors. Thanks again.
@@AirgunDetectives received the trigger screw in mail today... Thank you. nice touch with the personal note. also, really like the Belgian Malinois postage stamp. That's a keeper!
@@tdmmcl1532 Did not really answer your question huh. With a 16gr. pellet your pellet will drop one mill dot about every 28 yards, which is a flat trajectory for air guns. I don't think a bore sight would be beneficial. (I sight my air guns in a 40 yards by the way). If you shoot a lot, that gun will break any scope, and I have broken about 5 of them so far. My favorite is a little Leupold 33mm, 3-9 power with adjustable objective lens from the freedom line. It was like $320, but an extra $230 to putting a mil dot reticle in their custom department. Most scopes die at about 500 shots with a mag springer air gun, and I got over 4000 before I sent it back for repair with their lifetime warranty, (which is why I popped so much.). Of course, it did not come back as good as new,---so I will collect more data when I get time and send it back. You could have gotten a 2mm longer screw at your local hardware store for about 30 cents. So he ripped you good, and I answered your questions a bit.
@@EarthSurferUSA I bought the hawke vantage mil dot. Life time warranty. The Gamo oem scope is definitely a challenge to zero and the overall operation is ancient and not very smooth. One thing I noticed is that the gamo scope can not be shifted back to my natural eye position. I moved it as far back on the rings as it can go and I still feel uncomfortable straining to get closer to the eye piece. I hope this longer hawke scope will solve that issue and be easier to work with and last. fingers crossed.
update on laser bore sight for the gamo swarm magnum Gen3i .177 (this probably applies to all Gamo rifles in any caliber that uses the same gamo moderator "can"): does not work! The internal baffles are set in a series at different distances and the bore sight will not meet and match those internal baffles. I tried different size adapters, but could not find any that seats precise enough to make the laser aligned to the plane of the bore. Frustrating! I contemplated removing the moderator baffles, but the moderator shroud is quite deep (almost 5 inches) and that makes placing the relatively short laser into the bore = mission impossible. another update: I have three gen3i 10x autoloader magazines. NONE OF THEM are manufactured properly and present the pellet well out of alignment to the bore when cocking. This means the pellets is being crushed on one side as it is being pushed into the bore. So, I decided to manually load pellets to experiment if that misalignment was making a difference and indeed it does. Now, the shot group is much more consistent with far fewer fliers. It is quite disappointing to see this manufacturing design flaw in an otherwise good air rifle. If you look at the 10x magazine, you will notice this. Each pellet chamber is offset to true by about 40 percent! There is no way the autoloader pusher rod is going to push a pellet into the bore without causing either skirt or ball (or both) damage. I noticed this because one of the RWS BB pellet hybrid pellets was breaking apart during loading and the little brass/copper bb was falling out, but not the lead body-skirt. This lead me to realize the pellets were getting crushed by this flaw in the 10x magazine loader. Today, I bought a .17 cleaning rod and used it to push pellets back out of the breech to inspect them. Each pellet had damage to the skirt and tip. This is due to the out of true 10x magazine chambers that present the pellets well outside the plane of the bore. This means the pusher rod is forcing them back into the breech and they get jacked up. Manually feeding the pellets demonstrated this flaw is very real as the grouping and consistency of shots is so much better. I contacted gamo about this and will hopefully have them address this. That all three 10x magazines have this very same flaw tells me this is a design issue that is not easy to solve. I will probably just remove the 10x autoloader assembly altogether and just convert it to a more reliable single manually shot rifle.
Instead of the trigger mod, I think the very best mod would be to completely cut the stock off behind the grip and use it as a pistol. When can we expect a video of you doing the stock removal 😉? Have a great weekend man!!!
@@AirgunDetectives i have the same gun and it shoots around 60 fps slower than your magnum same pellets but I am at 5800 feet above the see level , do you think that is the reason I get less velocity
@bobybaba5267 some rifles just very a bit in velocity. This can do with the piston and breech seals, or even the gas ram. 50-60 fps is not out of the ordinary. Also, you should be experiencing higher velocity at the greater altitude. There is less resistance so you should be getting higher FPS. Also, not sure how many shots you have through your rifle. It takes a few hundred rounds for the seals to seat.
Greetings JC from England 🇬🇧, another great review. You cover everything you need to know . Thank you. Whot a super rifle, that will give you years of service..... cheers Simon
Hi Simon, I hope all is well. Sad to hear about your Queen. The Zeus may exceed your joules restrictions a bit🤣 But you are welcome to shoot mine if you visit the states. Happy Shooting 👍🏻

These air rifles are all pellet picky, and its really helpful to find specific pellets which are best suited to which particular air rifles such as the Hornet for this Gamo mag. gen 3, as you have shown us. I would never use a Barracuda Green for anything except for a sound barrier crack I suppose.
Does the Gen 2 have something so you can't load another round when one is already loaded to fire? I know that gen 3 has that but I wanted to use open sights if needed.
So I noticed the decibel level was very low on this for the power available to take a midsize animal like a raccoon. Not sure if I missed that as a positive but I would certainly emphasize that as a very strong positive.
Got mine not even a week ago. So far....45 yards. Hole in hole in hole on frozen cans. Upwards of 2 to 5 inches of solid ice. Great power and laser accurate even with base scope. Upgrading thatbsoon tho
Can't wait for mine to arrive in the mail! Awesome review as usual!!! I got heavy grain pellets. I do like those lighter weights, but we'll see! very wooow! LOL!
I know there are people who purchased a gen 2 with open sights and were sent the Gen 3i without open sights, they were pretty upset because they purchased the gen 2 for the open sights and Gamo did not tell them they were being sent a gen 3i instead. I can imagine they would be upset to find out a gen 3i with open sights were to come out later.
I own both the Gen-2 and the Gen-3. There is absolutely no difference in the performance. They both take the same inertia magazines. But, as you stated, the Gen-2 has the nice fiber-optic open sites. My eyes are not as good as they use to be so I tend to go with the scopes regardless. I would have your friends contact Gamo and double check the future of the Gen3i. Again, I am surprised at the accuracy. I tested a Gen-2 and two Gen-3 Magnums and they were a virtual tie, amazing groups. Sounds like the Gen-2 may be a rare unit. Anyway. Happy Shooting! 👍🏻
@@AirgunDetectives that's what I've heard as well, the gen 2 and 3 are virtually the same. My buddies who own a gen 3 are happy with the performance they just wish an option for open sight's were there. I'm waiting for a gen 3 with open sight's before I jump the gun and get one haha. Anyways I love your videos, very entertaining and you cover all grounds without being biased, it's refreshing to see. Keep it up my friend
Very detailed and informative presentation. I just ordered a Fusion gen2, but was sent the gen3i instead. I prefer open sights, but I guess I'll try it. can you do a video with the Fusion gen3i?
Haven't heard of a Gen3 "Fusion?" Now this review is on the Gen3i Swarm Magnum and I do compare the Gen2i. They don't currently make the Gen2i and the Gen3i does not have open sights at this point. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
The Gamo Fusion rifle I’ve had 2. Each has a problem with the scope mounting. The tiny pins that hold the scope from recoil movements tends to push the pin holes back. Being aluminum. Both of my Gamo rifles have done this. After the holes wear the scope is always off target. No matter how much you adjust it. This is a huge problem for me.
Yes, using solid scope mounts and the proper size pin is essential. They definitely can wear those pin holes in that RRR (Recoil Reducing Rail), especially if the rings slip and pin is not the right fit. 👍🏻
Hi, would the Magnum G2 shoot very similar to the G3? and which one would be less pressure for cocking, or are they the same? I can handle it, but not sure about my son. Thanks for any comments.
Great airgun! just curious,,how many pellets did you test till you found the one it liked? and on average for airguns,,,how many do you try till you find the that works best?
@@AirgunDetectives I tested 19 different pellets for one of my break barrels today. I see guys on youtube test only like 3 or 4 pellets. I would love to find a pellet that can hit a shotgun shell at 40 yards for all 3 of my break barrels. Wondering how much testing it's going to take..lol
Hunter Extreme Pro .22 has SAS and cat trigger I like that rifle because it has the same power plant as swarm magnum 1300 fps using pba I like it because it doesn't have the inertia fead 10x magazine it is traditionally loaded break barrel one pellet each time you break it. Also has front and rear fiber optic sights. Looks cool and old school beechwood frame. If when I purchase I'd like to upgrade the trigger with your kit. 1.5 lb pull would be nice
Did you try the 18 grain crow magnum? Longer pellet with more surface touching the rifling and in my gamo magnum it's the only one that has been accurate out of dozens of different pellets brands
Yes, that aren't bad but I was totally caught off guard by these Baracuda Green pellets. Just under 14 grains. They do have longer skirts and they go into the magazine very nicely. I never dreamed this light of a pellet could produce this type of accuracy. Have a great weekend!!
It is just a rubber band. Usually red for .177 and green for .22. Did they just forget to put it on? Maybe they ran short at the factory. I usually take mine off after the reviews. I think it looks better without it. 👍🏻
I still use a generation 1 swarm and I'd have never double fed it and I guess if I was worried that I may have loaded it and not known it I would just take the magazine out and break the barrel and you can see
I think the manufacturers are always looking for an upgrade. I didn't think there was any issues with the Gen2 either. Just like cars, always trying to improve the models. Happy Shooting!
I am completely new to air rifles. I note that the recommended pellet - H&N Barracuda Green 12.96 pellet - states on the front of the tin that it is for PCP rifles only. The other two recommended pellet tins do not bear this stated restriction. Should I be concerned with firing the Barracuda Green through this rifle?
I'VE BOUGHT GAMO RIFLES & SHOT THEM FOR A WHILE. & ALL OF THEM RIGHT OUTTA THE BOX ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!.... READ BOOK,, PUT ON SCOPE,, LOAD CLIP & SHOOT.... NEEAD A FIELD SIGHT,, BUT BESIDES THAT,, GREAT AIR- RIFLES & REALLY ACCURATE TOO.. AT LEAST ALL I'VE BOUGHT & HUNTED WITH... THANKS GAMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.................
Need help with Scope. Pyramyd recommended the Bugbuster scope which i bought. Seems too small for this rifle. No room to move it back to where i can use the cheek pad and get a clear site picture through the scope. Compared to my Benjamin vaporizer.. its perfect. Even with the stock scope, just seems the Magnum has a longer butt stock. To get close enough to the scope i have to sit the butt on my shoulder.
Hello, thank you very much for all these reviews. I do have two questions, 1- would it be recommended for left handed? I have heard beeman was made for both right and left handed. If not what would you recommend? What is the difference between the magnum, the fusion, bone collector or other model? Thank you very much
I just received my Gamo Swarm Magnum today! I still haven't received my enhancement screw from you.I am a Professional. Rhis makes my 4th Magnum Air Rifle for my company of pest control. CRITTER GETTER PEST ELIMINATOR DIRTY DEEDS DONE DIRT CHEAP LOL
@@AirgunDetectives would it have anything to do with the fact that i was looking at the fusion gen3i and and got it confused with the magnum, or are the fusion mags backwards compatible too?
I just bought this rifle and the hornet pellets to deal with iguana in my area. Mine seems to be a lot louder than yours and the 'snap' makes me thing the pellet is actually supersonic. What pellets would you recommend for hunting Iguana that are not supersonic out of this air rifle?
@@TCat-ve9qi That can only happen with oil burning with the .22 Hornet. I cleaned my barrel, but forgot to wipe the breech clean (covered by the 10 shot mag plastic). Went off like a rim fire .22 LR. Then the piston seal started failing. I even found the pellet in the snow as the snow melted. The 18gr. JSB skirt was blown up like a ball room dress and .300" in diameter, (the diameter of the ID of the silencer).
I love the 16 gr. .22 Hornet pellet, and found it to shoot just about as well as a 18gr with a flatter trajectory to 90 yards. But with the 10shot mag, I had one of the tips come out of the pellet and damage the breech surface and nicked the o-ring seal, when I cocked it.
I just got mine few days ago, your review helped me to decide to get this rifle, sadly I got it from Amazon and the package was open and missing the magazine, Amazon didn't do anything about, same problem with Amazon when I got my PT-85. 177 cal, it came out of its box, why IDK, so today I'll look for my $10 investment;-)
I ordered my gen3i from Bass Pro and it was an absolute pleasure talking to the order person. Delivered by FedEx very quick and safe. Can't say enough good things about Bass Pro in Springfield, Missouri. It was a phone order and wonderful people to die business with.
Here is one for yah....watched another video on this same unit and was rather shocked that the gun grouped well, but when switching ranges from I think it was 25 yards to 40 yards, the scope got cranked up to a higher power and the pellet grouping moved from low and to the right, and then at the longer range, completely different grouping high and to the LEFT. I am guessing this might be a "frailty of the scope" or are these pellet guns susceptible to moving around on target depending upon range?????
Have a watch of this; ruclips.net/video/U-kSfDkoVHU/видео.html It's a parallax issue. You will have to work out how to change your position when changing range. Sometimes it's better to use less zoom and go for a smaller target, also the pellet you are using will affect were it lands. These guns like a heavier pellet at longer distances, highly accurate so long as you work out how to dial in the grain weight and parallax issues. You can actually plug a bunny at just over 100 yards with this puppy if you get it all dialled in, it seriously has the punch to pull that off.
I would be curious to see what kind of muzzle velocities you develop with the recommended ammunition from Gamo. I have found that it performs very well with Gamo red fire 15.4 grain. I had no problem blowing through 3/4 inch laminitated particle board with that round at 15 yards. That being said, kind of new to the air gun thing but love the information and review you provided and mostly agree. I think with proper break in and red fire ammo this critter might actually break 1200 fps if not the 1300 claimed by Gamo. What do you think?
Try it at 65 yards and also with the 18gr JSB pellets. FPS with light pellets is a sales pitch, but the more FPS it has, the more FPE it probably has. Light pellets do not shoot well over 40 yards and lose energy quicker than heavier pellets. Just about any pellet shoot well to 15 (sling shot yardage) yards. The real test of over 50 yards. Heck, I sight my scopes in at 40 yards. With this gun, it is less than one mill dot from the cross, from 20 to 60 yards with a good 18gr. pellet.
Hello, I just got my Gamo swarm magnum 22 cal today. (Same gun as yours) 2 things... #1... There's a noise in the handle at the lowest point of the stock where the thin part meets the hand grip, sounds like there's a pebble in there. Any thoughts how to get it out? Does that bottom cap come off? ( I didn't want to pry it and break it if not) #2... Is there a way to make the scope more clear when zoomed out past 5.? There doesn't seem to be a focus ring on the Gamo 3X9X40 scope. Anyone else reading this also please help. Thank you very much.
hey, i have a question, and yes,, you might answer " both " , but i am going to pick 1, should i get this new gen3i swarm magnum, or the new gen3i swarm bone collector ?? you have shot both, or at least the gen2 bone collector, i have the whisperfusion mach 1, 22, and the original magnum, 22, so, the cocking effort and power of either i am familiar with,, i am just curious as to which you'd suggest, thank-you
After watching many videos on air rifles, this video convinced me to buy the Gen3i. I've had it for a few weeks now, & just love it.
Hi, did the cocking get easier or does it take the same effort? Would you recommend this over the gen2? thanks
Definitely worth the price...really good power without having to fill up tanks and all the other extra stuff you have to buy with PCP
Great Rifle! Thanks for watching and i appreciate you leaving comments!
I have the Gen 1 Swarm in .22. It has been great. I've taken many ground squirrels with it out to 40 yards. I just ordered your $10 trigger upgrade. That is a pretty good deal for a less than 2 pound trigger.
You will be surprised at what that little screw will do in improving your performance. Have a great weekend, Levi!
I just picked up the latest version of the Magnum and will review it in the next several weeks😉👍🏻
BTW...I just shipped out a trigger screw kit to a viewer in Belgium. $2.00 for shipping, so $11.99 total. Email me if you want one for your Gamo. info@airgundetectives.com 😉👍🏻
@@AirgunDetectives I'll keep it in mind, but for now the trigger is perfect for me. Thanks! 👍
Hi JC, nice detailed review as usual. The trigger adjustment screw is a real must-have change. Have a great weekend. Cheers
Nitro and Mika says Hi!...Peanut too!
Hatsan sniper vortex qe .22
924 FPS
"27" FPE
Gamo Swarm Magnum GEN3i .22
H&N BARRACUDA GREEN
997 FPS
"28" FPE
FIELD TARGET TROPHY
935 FPS
"28.5" FPE
H&N HORNET
895 FPS
"28.8" FPE
Comparing your two different videos it looks like Gamo Swarm Magnum GEN3i is the more powerful break barrel air rifle
Good stuff. Thanks for all the informative videos 👍
I appreciate you watching! Happy Shooting 😉
You have a great weekend as well and thanks again for tuning in!
" I like the Magnum but I'm not sure I need one?" Need? All we "need" is food, shelter and clothing. But what kind of a human existence is that? :)
Thank you!
These are great starter rifles. Super accurate, clean from the factory, easy to setup, awesome mags, and it comes with a scope!
..And plenty of power....Have a great weekend, Frank!!!
Open sights are good for determining if your scope is going bad.
That inertia magazine is really a impressive piece of engineering IMO.
But I love the power and the accuracy.
nice shooting review, looking forward on swarm bone collector gen3i review as well.
I appreciate you tuning in and happy Shooting!
I think somebody in shipping messed up.
Your trigger mod helps so much with the long and heavy pull trigger. Accuracy and consistency goes way up.
Patiently waiting for the pro review to drop!!!! Let’s goooooo!!!!!!!
I like the trigger adjustment screw from Airgun Detectives. Perfect fit and without the ugly large socket head. Modifications need to look good.
Doug, I am happy that worked out for you! Happy Shooting!
I purchase one of your trigger screws and really like it .. Thanks JC .
Gary, I am glad that worked out for you! Happy Shooting!
Have a gamo maxxim gen 2 .177 just bought the gamo magnum gen 2 .177 just because it has open sights on it. Thanks for this review i feel much more confident in my purchase.
I appreciate you watching 👍🏻
Very awesome rifle and incredible shooting. I mean your skill level is so precise. Wow!
What pellets do you like for it so far?
It will shoot the Crosman domed 14.3g well enough for most things, but the best so far has been the JSB 18.13g and I average 25ftlbs with just about any pellet in my rifle. @@chriskelly509
Enjoy! Happy Shooting 😉
just got the gen 3 airgun. have taken 3 squirrels in 2 days. good accuracy even though my 14.3 gr. pellets were loaded backwards!! a real dan'l boone!
Great hunting rifle!👍

Great review!! It sold me, I’ve looked at several but kept coming back to this one!! I ordered it this morning!! I’ll definitely look at the trigger up grade!! I’m one of your newest subscribers!! Thanks for sharing!!
That's a good choice. For the power and accuracy, not to mention a 10 round magazine, it is really a great value. Happy Shooting 👍
How can i get that gun delivered to me in belize
“29”FPE? Crazy in a break barrel!
It is definitely a great performer! Have a great weekend!
You can actually remove the multi shot mechanism from the gamo rifle and make it an exclusively single shot rifle.
Thanks again!
they look like fix the accuracy too Sir... i got them but i break them and trash cuz accuracy 🤷🏽.. been yrs i found HW97.. heavy but top knot accuracy.. but i think i will buy this gun again .. try it's again.. 👍👍.. thanks Sir
A very nice and powerful gun. Great review JC !!
Thanks William, have a great weekend!
Thanks
how this magnum vs Hatsan mod 125 spring and vortex QE got it in .22 and .25 ! spring has much more umph !
Good question I have the Hatsan 125 Sniper Vortex in 25 caliber ( a beast ) . All metal breech included .
I love when that happens with an inexpensive pellet! The destroyers work really well in my Swarm Maxxim. Happy Shooting!
George, look at the positive side...you get a good arm 💪 workout at the same time 👍🏻🤣 Have a great weekend!
@@AirgunDetectives ...well put!
Thanks, you as well.
After owning and shooting the Gen 3 nothing else compares
Yeah I'm sold on this, I thought the barrel harmonics would make the shot spread not be accurate but this doesn't have that issue.
I have noticed Gamo has really stepped up their game when it comes to accuracy. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
this video was the reason why I bought my first air rifle.
I appreciate your support and thank you for your comments. Happy Shooting 👍🏻
😆😅🤣 I have the saw-zaw ready to go! It may be a bit difficult to cock though..Take care Josh!

Thanks for another fantastic air gun video , also I was wondering about your elevation , are you at sea level ? Thanx again
I am at roughly 800 feet ASL. 👍🏻😉
@@AirgunDetectives thank you 🙌🏻

These air rifles are all pellet picky, and its really helpful to find specific pellets which are best suited to which particular air rifles such as the Hornet for this Gamo mag. gen 3, as you have shown us. I would never use a Barracuda Green for anything except for a sound barrier crack I suppose.
Does the Gen 2 have something so you can't load another round when one is already loaded to fire? I know that gen 3 has that but I wanted to use open sights if needed.
Gen 2 actually performs the same as Gen 3. They both have the inertia magazine system. The Gen3 just has a lower profile housing.
@Airgun Detectives-Airgun Reviews That sounds awesome. Is there a Swarm 10X .22 Gen 2 or Gen 3 that has open sights you would recommend?
You also used the best Ammo for airguns, zinc alloy, they are hard, light, and pretty FAST
Gto predators pellet are great . They are pretty hard and light
I polished and put a three pound trigger on my rifle. Any less and a gloved finger could depress it just trying to slip into position.

Nice review. Thanks for posting.
Thank you for watching!👍
The Gamo Fusion rifle I’ve had 2. Each has a problem with the scope mounting. The tiny pins that hold the scope from recoil movements tends to push the pin holes back. Being aluminum. Both of my Gamo rifles have done this. After the holes wear the scope is always off target. No matter how much you adjust it. This is a huge problem for me.
Yes, using solid scope mounts and the proper size pin is essential. They definitely can wear those pin holes in that RRR (Recoil Reducing Rail), especially if the rings slip and pin is not the right fit. 👍🏻
One piece scope mount stops all movement.
We have magnum replay gen 2 gen 3 we don't have it in Greece yet
Hi, would the Magnum G2 shoot very similar to the G3? and which one would be less pressure for cocking, or are they the same? I can handle it, but not sure about my son. Thanks for any comments.
Great airgun! just curious,,how many pellets did you test till you found the one it liked? and on average for airguns,,,how many do you try till you find the that works best?
I test more pellets than you can even imagine. The rifle will show you when it finds the right pellet 😉
Hunter Extreme Pro .22 has SAS and cat trigger
I like that rifle because it has the same power plant as swarm magnum 1300 fps using pba
I like it because it doesn't have the inertia fead 10x magazine it is traditionally loaded break barrel one pellet each time you break it. Also has front and rear fiber optic sights. Looks cool and old school beechwood frame.
If when I purchase I'd like to upgrade the trigger with your kit. 1.5 lb pull would be nice
Not to mention the wood stock is also very nice! That's a great package 👍🏻😉
Did you try the 18 grain crow magnum? Longer pellet with more surface touching the rifling and in my gamo magnum it's the only one that has been accurate out of dozens of different pellets brands
I was thinking the jsb 18.13 would probably be good right in that 850ish fps sweet spot
Yes, that aren't bad but I was totally caught off guard by these Baracuda Green pellets. Just under 14 grains. They do have longer skirts and they go into the magazine very nicely. I never dreamed this light of a pellet could produce this type of accuracy. Have a great weekend!!
@@AirgunDetectives I just ordered some thanks!
Get some h and n 25 grain hp slugs or hornets I can head shot rabbits at 100m with them with my magnum. You need to buy a good scope
Great review!
For target shooting at 75 yeards you recommend getting the .177 or .22 version?
Great work. I bought the Hornets based on the Gen 2 review which is what I own. Did you test the greens in the Gen 2 & how did it perform? Thanks.
Not yet, but I am hoping for the same results. The Hornets worked well in the Gen3 similar to the results in the Gen2.
Is it possible to put a better suppressor on this rifle? I have a gen2 that I'd like to make a little more quiet.
Svaki video Vam je odličan. Veliki pozdrav iz Niš, Serbia.👌👏👍🔝💯
I just got this exact same rifle and for some reason it doesn’t have the green band around it (.22). Could it be a factory issue?
It is just a rubber band. Usually red for .177 and green for .22. Did they just forget to put it on? Maybe they ran short at the factory. I usually take mine off after the reviews. I think it looks better without it. 👍🏻
Hi Jc
What do you think about shooting slugs in the gamo swarm magnum 10x gen 3i. ??
Thanks
Not at all. Wont do any damage to you barrel.

There's a Gen 3 with a new stock unveiled at IWA, Germany.
Hello, thank you very much for all these reviews. I do have two questions, 1- would it be recommended for left handed? I have heard beeman was made for both right and left handed. Question: which is the most accurate pellet you have experienced?
(In .177 and .22)
Which would you recommend, this or the viper ,
Everything I shoot with my gamo magnum g3 is extremely accurate for a pellet rifle. I can hit a quarter at 75 yards consistently.
You have to shoot the Is Barracuda hunter extremes
Maybe try some hybrid slugs? It would be great to see the accuracy👍

why do all the reviews online say the gen 2 mag is not compatible with gen3i?
They obviously didn't do their homework. The Inertia mags are the same👍🏻😉
@@AirgunDetectives would it have anything to do with the fact that i was looking at the fusion gen3i and and got it confused with the magnum, or are the fusion mags backwards compatible too?
If I don't have anything else handy I will just use another pellet to push them in the magazine. Love my Gen 2 magnum.
.177 gamo rifles also have green bands. Red is pest and plinking. Green means more power hunting type air gun.
I just bought this rifle and the hornet pellets to deal with iguana in my area. Mine seems to be a lot louder than yours and the 'snap' makes me thing the pellet is actually supersonic. What pellets would you recommend for hunting Iguana that are not supersonic out of this air rifle?
If you gun is pushing hornets supersonic (very very unlikely) you have a mechanical issue.
Make them return it and send you another 😉👍🏻
I ordered my gen3i from Bass Pro and it was an absolute pleasure talking to the order person.

That would be scope issues😉👌🏼
Have a watch of this; ruclips.net/video/U-kSfDkoVHU/видео.html
It's a parallax issue.
(Same gun as yours)
2 things...
#1... There's a noise in the handle at the lowest point of the stock where the thin part meets the hand grip, sounds like there's a pebble in there.
Any thoughts how to get it out? Does that bottom cap come off? ( I didn't want to pry it and break it if not)
#2... Is there a way to make the scope more clear when zoomed out past 5.?
There doesn't seem to be a focus ring on the Gamo 3X9X40 scope.
Anyone else reading this also please help.
Thank you very much.
The version without the open sights is better because you can grab the barrel further out and this will give you better leverage for easier cocking.
Hi, i am waiting for the open sight option, is there any new news about the open sight detective?
hey, i have a question, and yes,, you might answer " both " , but i am going to pick 1, should i get this new gen3i swarm magnum, or the new gen3i swarm bone collector ?? you have shot both, or at least the gen2 bone collector, i have the whisperfusion mach 1, 22, and the original magnum, 22, so, the cocking effort and power of either i am familiar with,, i am just curious as to which you'd suggest, thank-you
