  • Category - 3 contamination, also known as BLACK WATER contains water that is grossly contaminated and can contain pathogenic, toxigenic, or other harmful agents.
This apartment suffered a category 3 water damage loss after a unit above the gym experienced a sink backup.
With no one in the apartment at the time, the black water quickly spread throughout the apartment and ended up flooding the gym underneath.
Incredible Restorations was called to the site immediately and spent the whole night extracting water and drying out the unit and gym.
Due to the hazardous bacteria in the water, the entire gym and unit had to be shut down and stripped down for us to decontaminate everything to stop all bacteria growth.

    Good morning Sir
I live in the lower 48 and am currently starting my restoration company. Would it be possible to pay for a few hours of your time to talk about how you started yours?

Fire Boarding/Fire Separations? Does this somehow eliminate the fire code requirements or just the structural requirements on staggering drywall joints? As a licensed General Contractor in California, I understand a flood/restoration company does not usually have to deal with the building inspection process, especially if just dealing with TI walls, but I also am quite familiar with what happens when a fire happens later and the City or worse the Insurance fire inspector finds a non-code compliant wall repair that voids the insurance.

Good try! Not following correct procedures. Containment walls should be a 6mil poly. You should have contaminated area on a negative pressure. Zipper doors with a Decon room to doff PPE correctly should be used. All employees should be using proper masks, with full suits, and gloves. Cat 3 can cross contaminate other areas without these procedures. I recommend consulting a local IEP. To ensure you did not cross contaminate.
The list goes on about the issues I saw. There is harmful bacteria, fungi, viruses in cat 3. Including E.Coli and so forth.
Read your EPA, OSHA, and S500 and S520 books to do your job correctly.
