I am currently going through this and was looking on how they handel going through all your stuff in the house. Sure pull up floors and replace it, but where is my pool table going and everything else in the hole house? im my case if the insurance okays it, they are trying for a secure warehouse to itemize all our things to tell us if they are salvageable or not. That sound super expensive, and not sure how much other people will think on your stuff if insurance is footing the bill. Bigger question is how do they Assess worth if they figure it to be contaminated and not usable. This to me is a bigger part of what's going on then what they're going to do to the house itself. I mean we're talking everything you own In your house. And all this for an inch or less of standing water under a floating bamboo floor for A main line backup about 1500sqft. I know this is an old comment on a weirdly names username, but we are here to help you during a very rough time. You have to understand that some companies only care about doing every single thing we can do to fix your house and stop any further damage. However, some companies only care about finding as many services to overcharge you for and dont haggle with insurance whatsoever, ESPECIALLY when its a selfpaying customer. They ripped up all flooring because water travels under flooring creating a vapor seal that spreads very far and if there are mold spores, those get spread throughout your house and onto your furniture. It also helps to get your stuff somewhere safe so its not absolutely destroyed from moisture or getting cracked by fans and dehumidifiers drying it too much. All in all, you have to look up the ratings and reviews on the company you or your insurance chose to go with. I hope you got a good one, if you didnt please leave a review and a post on social media explaining all that happened, same thing if you got a company that made your life better and fixed your beloved house.

My advice to anyone - is ALWAYS transfer pictures and documents to digital and get copies.
For your valuables, you should store items in a safe environment. The basement is usually most homes storage area, but you should consider alternative places, like a spare bed room or even your master bedroom on the main level or upper floor.
My advice to people considering renovations, to look into products that are less absorbing. An example that I recommend avoiding is MDF trim, I know the cost for pine or other products most likely are higher, you should strongly consider this.
Just remember, your possessions are only temporary. Your health is the most important thing in life.
