    This is what I was looking for, a straight-to-the-point and precise tutorial. Thank you for taking your time to do this, I feel like I just watched an entire course in 5 minutes. Do you happen to know if you can apply multiple material IDs for a single mesh object, instead of multiple meshes that are joined in an entire object?

    • @UnrealMatter
      @UnrealMatter  3 года назад +1

      Thanks mate for your comment! You only can have a single mesh with one material id which has many colors

    • @ArezX3
      @ArezX3 3 года назад +1

      @@UnrealMatter Yeah, I know you can have many colors on one material ID image, what I am asking is, can you do that with a cube? Instead of having 4 cubes all joined together with CTRL + J?

      @@UnrealMatter lol, there's clearly a language barrier here because you don't understand what I am trying to say. So, I'll try again. I have followed your tutorial, to make an object out of multiple meshes and connect them with CTRL + J to have multiple color IDs when baking. What I am asking is, can I do a similar thing but without having to connect meshes with CTRL + J to make a single object? What if I want to color the 4 faces of a cube with different textures in Mixer, can I assign multiple color IDs on a map from a single mesh object?

    • @UnrealMatter
      @UnrealMatter  3 года назад +1

      @@ArezX3 yes thats what I said and explained in the other tutorial. You have to apply different materials on the cube faces and then convert them to color ID's and can texture them in Mixer. [SOLVED, see full comment] I imported the .obj to Quixel Mixer there are no Layers so I cant click on Material ID cause there is no BaseLayer.
    How can I create one?
    Edit 1 [Didnt Work] : Nevermind I found this on the Quixel forums.
    "The Base Layer no longer exists. All functionality related to it is contained in the Setup --> Texture Sets menu. It was a placeholder layer in previous versions of Mixer. Now it's integrated directly into the MTS build."
    This managed to set the material on it. Just click on Setup -> Edit Texture Sets -> (Folder icon next to...) Albedo -> (Your material image)
    Edit 2 [FIXED!] : Ok so this solution worked for me.
    Once you add the SMART Material of your choice, Right-click on it and click on "Add ID Mask" an ID Mask will NOT BE ADDED. To add it you need to go on:
    Setup --> Edit Texture Sets -> (Folder icon next to...) Material ID -> (Your material image)
    This will create the channels for you to enable and disable accordingly... oof.

      If you want to texture the object as a whole then join the objects with different colors and make a color ie map. If you want to have them all seperate with 1 color only on each object you dont need to make color id maps but to join and make a color id map is better in my opinion
