Exactly the description I needed. My mesh was doing weird things in mixer first few tries, mainly because I didnt understand how it worked. Very helpful video. Thx
After calling the mesh in the first video a pile of barf I'm happy that I can counter that yang with some yin and compliment this video which is very helpful. :)
Man, this is exactly what i was looking for ! Thanks ! Do you probably know, if it is possible to reuse paint masks on other materials/layer ? I can't figure it out.
If you have a paint mask in the stack you should be able to copy that layer and paste it elsewhere. It's been a while since I've used Mixer, but if you remind me with another comment, later tonight or tomorrow I can check.
So, with a paint mask, you can copy or move the layer to Layer Sets. Alternatively, you could export the paint layer and apply it as a texture mask to any other layer (this can also be done outside of Mixer, in Blender for example). Seems like it needs a workaround since you can't directly copy a paint mask to other layers, at least that's what I'm finding.
Hello Crompwell, and thank you for this tutorial :) I have a question for you : I do the same export as you, but when in Mixer, I add a surface layer with displacement, the edges on my model are not connected anymore. It is like they separate from each other. I tried with a simple cube too, but the result is the same. I was wondering how I can deal with that. Do you have any idea ? Thank you in advance and have a good day
@@baptisteenfrin9572 You’ll need to add more geometry or test it with something like tessellation in unreal engine. Otherwise, mess with the midpoint or displacement amount.
İTS PERFECT nobody taught texture painting for baking UV's. I have only one problem Where is color picker tool in the texture paint ? I want some of part same as other parts after I already paint.
Just hover the mouse over whatever color you want and quickly tap and release the S key. It will select the color. If you click with the mouse, it will attempt to add a swatch instead of picking up the color. I’m glad you found the video helpful :)
6:50 when i select only one part of my mesh and follow the steps to fill with a color, it fills all of the parts of my mesh instead of the one that is selected.
i tried it a few times over and it seems to not be working the same as yours. my entire mesh gets colored in, except for some areas that are splotched with the cyan color and the original black color. i have clean uvs for both parts. its just a butcher knife. so when i try to fill the blade with cyan, the handle will get colored also even though its a separate mesh. is there an update since this video was made that maybe changed how it needs to be done now?
@@EDITMODE It’s difficult for me to troubleshoot the issue for you without seeing what you’re doing. If you want to upload a screen recording I might be able to help.
okay....its because my whole mesh wasnt unwrapped together. each part was unwrapped separately. if anyone else has this issue, unwrapping the entire mesh together should fix it.
sweet :) mixer still works for the most part hope they release an update soon
this is really helpful. god bless you, bro...
Glad to help. God bless you too, bro!
Best blender to quixel tutorial I found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you very much this is relay helpful, I have found this workflow much easier and intuitive than the baking one.
Thank you for this tutorial! Just starting with Mixer and this was the missing step between Blender and Mixer which I needed to know.

Thank you very much!It is very helpfull
it was extremely useful - thanks!
This is gold!
Nice tutorial, right to the point . 👍
Thanks. Not as short as those minute tutorials, but I try to keep the info relevant. :)
Great video, Just started with Quixel. Subscibed.
Glad to help :)

@@Crompwell In case you can be bothered, could you have a look ?

Thank you..
Thanks for watching!
When i got y mesh into QM there was no base layer! Any ideas ?! It was a new menu in Quixel i loaded the map it's working now :)
How did you fix this?
Yo thanks

You can play with the displacement amount or turn off mesh displacement entirely. There is a button on the top left, I believe.
@@Crompwell ok so for now it will never adapt to the edges and still explode them if I want a bigger amount of displacement ?

I wnana thank you again again and over again. Its so ironic how it's so easy as well as nobody told this method before

@@EDITMODE Yes, if you have overlapping UV’s, this won’t work.
Are we supposed to bake normal map? Before importing the model?
If you need it.
My mesh doesn't have a baselayer?
In Mixer? Might have to do with the new update that just happened.
Under Setup, click Edit Texture Sets, and you can add the ID at the bottom.
@@kuro2ck i did that, but i can't see the colors on the mesh, is so confusing since there is no info about the new interface
tutorial doesn't work. I tried following it and i just ended up with stupid misaligned UVs.
This is not a UV unwrapping tutorial.
not baselayer
