Just like old Claudia and young Egon, Charlotte is addressing Noah with the formal "Sie", while Noah is addressing Charlotte with the informal "Du". Just another fun fact.
Per Adam, in 1921 they are able to break the 33 cycle when traveling so it's possible that a Noah who already knew who Charlotte was is the one who traveled to 2019 to give Elisabeth the watch. Edit: you thought of this after I wrote this comment 🤷♀️
I love your reactions, your engagement and enthusiasm... and your effort in trying to puzzle the pieces together. Greetings from another dark fan, keep up the good work!
I know you are already way passed this episode by now lol, but if you look at Adam when he sends Jonas to back 2019, he is crying. So the thing he sent 16 year old Jonas to do still hurts him at the age of 82. Whenever I rewatch Dark, this scene always tears me up lol
Maybe by the English translators, in German the title is not exactly the same. "Vom Suchen und Finden" is difficult to translate literally to English, but it means something along "Of/about searching and finding". So no mention of Lost at all.
I think it might also be a reference to Vom Suchen und Finden der Liebe, a 2005 movie that is an adaptation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. And here Jonas goes on his own journey to bring a loved one back from the dead.
I can't understand how people sometimes consider, that Adam could be lying about being Jonas, I mean come on, it's YOU! there's a billion things you know about yourself that nobody else is able to know. If he was fake, he could deceive it in seconds 😉
I think it's reasonable to at least consider the possibility. With Jonas and the Stranger there's little room for doubt, but with Jonas and Adam, they initially really do seem so completely different. Even Jonas doesn't want to believe it at first. The knowing things about yourself thing isn't even that convincing considering how much the Travelers seem to know in general, and to be fair Adam hasn't really said anything yet that *only* Jonas could possibly know (unless I'm missing something). We've slowly come around to accepting it, but you can't blame us for coping for at least a little bit 😅
@@ChannelNamePending699 I dont "blame" ya, the show, wants people to do this kind of thinking after all 😉, i just thought it to be odd also from showrunners perspective making this an option
One of the best Dark episodes, and thats saying a lot! My favorite scene: Noah's revelation to Charlotte. Top notch acting for both of them! The next episode is also top level, and also has a similar "reveal" that is beautifully acted. Love this season and your excellent diacussions/analysis!
Although I LOVE hearing you guys dissect every single mystery.. sometimes things are in fact what they say they are. But it's still fun to theorize! Can't wait for the next episode!
Do you remember the letter that Jonah's father left behind? Ines kept it and only gave it to Jonas much later, but it was meant for Jonas from the start, as you could see from the letter. Ines also seemed to have believed something Mikkel/Michael said right from the start. Otherwise she wouldn't have kept the letter. She also gave Micheal/Mikkel sleeping pills/sedatives and tried to make him forget everything that had happened. But it probably didn't work. Especially not after his much older father turned up.
Notice that the pills aren't simply sleeping pills. Especially the ones she steals from the hospital are used (in other countries but Germany) to treat depersonalisation and derealisation disorders. And they have indeed memory loss as a side effect from long-term use.
44:20 no seriously guys, a piece of media can not spoil itself; (it can be written with poor timing but that is not a spoiler) if it was here in the props it would be part of the visual language of the show; as I said before, Jantje and bo have designed this to be a mystery that you can solve for yourselves if you tried; so anything that you find is a clue And sometimes there are reveals, but Jantje wrote additional pseudo-reveals that are blatantly obvious; those are meant to keep those people in the loop who do not try to solve the mystery for themselves;
47:00 well in 1x01 you do have close-ups of all of these; the newspaper article is about the police in Winden and features a picture of the Chief of police, Charlotte Doppler; She is connected to two empty document sleeves representing her parents as they are unknown to the person who did this... which might or might not be Claudia; interestingly the same situation happens on the far right with the connection of Peter and Helge that holds no picture for Peter's mother although that is a different placeholder than a document sheet
Love your family tree. So Charlotte is also related to Jonas through the Nielsen family. So the only family nit blood related to the others is the Tiedmann family but then again Doris Tiedemann and Agnes Nielsen were basically an item for a time. So if they could have married back in the day, they would all be legally related to one another. Isn't that something to think about?
@@michaelklausWe did remember the close-ups and from there we actually translated the newspaper article hoping it would give us something; only for it to be about Charlotte announcing a new surveillance system or something. This wasn't included in the video for length purposes though (there's actually a lot of discussion that sometimes doesn't make it into the final video otherwise they'd just be way too long). And I assumed the empty sleeves had to be her parents, although after the reveal it's interesting to note that they're not needed because her mother is already on the wall.
@@michaelklausIt's interesting because I have a theory about Aleksander that you'll see in the 2x7 video that if true, means that the Tidemanns ARE blood related to the other families (at least, Aleksander and Bartosz).
Adam crying in the last scene hits so hard when you know the next Episode. Q_Q (I know you've watched them already so I don't consider this a spoiler) P.S.: Damn, I don't know what you're on about with the Aura-thing, but I kind of think I get what you mean with Noah^^
Now, I've seen the series before, and I've understood it pretty effing well (other than a lot of season 3), but I'm so confused by Adam and Jonas' conversation at the end there - about stopping any of it from ever happening. What does Michael's self-inflicted life retirement permanence have to do with Mikkel's disappearance? How is his death the catalyst for all of this? Can someone explain that to me?
If he does not remove himself then Jonas does not go to rehab/psych support for the summer. Which means Bartosz does not need to wait weeks after Erik goes missing to go to the caves with Jonas. And therefore they can probably go without Mikkel as the only reason he is there and "goes missing" is because they had no baby sitter on that day (could also say the parents would be home to watch him as they would not be at the parents conference at school).
I guess there are two possibilities. 1. Noah was only told he needed to give the pocket watch to Charlotte because that's what the book said and he didn't know she was his daughter since he's just a pawn at that point following instructions. Or 2 . The Noah who does give her the pocket watch is a Noah from the future, after this interaction with Charlotte. Future influencing the past, assuming the watch is a bootstrap paradox.
I guess you guys didn't notice that Adam wss crying as Jonss stepped into the portal. Off topic...Someone online made an interesting observation regarding this episode. Bartosz stops and stands still in the same spot outside the cave entrance twice in this entrance. That's all I'm saying. And damn, it never occurred to me that current Noah might have traveled back in time to give Elisabeth the watch to give to Charlotte. This is a great explanation. 🙂
I noticed it on a rewatch, as well as in 2x6. Definitely hits harder knowing the outcome of 2x6. As to your second detail... no idea what that could mean 😅
It's funny how much you're in denial about Adam being Jonas. I was deeply confused about how he became Adam the first time I watched but I didn't think Adam was lying about who he was.
In season 1 episode 8, around the 32 minute mark, Egon asks Agnes why she moved to Winden, to which she replies, "My grandmother is from Winden. She always gushed about this town." Egon asks what her grandmother's name was, but is interrupted by Claudia before Agnes can answer. If it was just a one-off mention of a character that wasn't important I could live with that, but the way the scene cuts her off before she could give the name made me very suspicious.
@@ChannelNamePending699 ah well ok.... although I'm not gonna spoil the name of both her grandmas (from her father's side and mother's side), but as with other characters in this show(as the family tree is basically a circle) you already know both those characters ..... and they're....interesting to say the least
