Back in the 90’s I went to see Robert perform live at a comedy club with some friends. It was the one and only time in my life I seriously thought about asking the waitress to call me an ambulance! I had been laughing so hard, for so long, I wasn’t inhaling air at a normal rate. At least not enough to stay conscious! I remember becoming so dizzy I had to put my head between my knees just to keep from passing out. My limbs started going numb and my fingers lost all sensation. I am NOT exaggerating. Robert was THAT FUNNY! After the show, me and my friends just sat down outside and spent like what seemed forever just taking deep breaths in, slowly trying to heal our lungs. This was the one time in my life I thought laughter would put me in the hospital. Robert gave me one of the most incredible memories. Since then, whenever I think about him or that night I lose it and start laughing. R.I.P. brother, you are sourly missed.
LOL 😆 He is funny I'm only hearing about him because I just read that Joe Rogans is married to one of his daughters. Joe and her were married back in 2003 before he was really famous. She must have a good sense of humor. Her names Jeesica Diezel but she is like super private. I wonder Joe and Robert's relationship
I remember seeing this on HBO back in 1989 when I was 18, a laugh riot. Robert Schimmel & Rodney Dangerfield, classic comics. Right now, I bet they got everyone in heaven laughing their asses off, RIP gentlemen.
I met Robert too,he was down to Earth and grew up in the Bronx like me 2 miles away.Funny guy-he was also a writer for the Wayans.Rodney was in a class all by himself-too funny! Richard Pryor and George Carlin too!
A true Comedian with such an imagination with his material..He made us all Laugh with that smooth delivery..RIP to 3 of the best no longer with us,, Rodney, Robert and Sam Kinison..Dont make them like this anymore!
I still remember Robert Schimmel's solo HBO special, that made me laugh until I cried. This wasn't quite as good (because he had more time in his special, naturally), but still it's great to be able to see him again, Thank you.
The absolute master of blue comedy. No other comic ever came close. Or came clean, get it, know what I mean? Still miss you, Bob. You're making God and your son laugh in heaven.
Too funny. Too funny. I couldn't stop laughing all the way through. I had to stop twice throughout the video just to hear what that guy was saying because I was laughing so hard. 🤣🤣 Good show. Thank you, Rodney Dangerfield, for introducing us to this guy here.
Used to have all the "Young Comedians" specials on VHS until the tapes wore out in the mid 90s. Luckily, I picked up the "Rodney Exposed" DVD set containing the best episodes before it went out of print.
I've been listening to ALL is material while I'm driving --- and just killing myself. I always liked his sense of humor and delivery. RIP -- and I'll be laughing for decades to come --- thank you!!
So funny! I had the pleasure of seeing Robert in person in Denver and the added pleasure of taking a group of people who didn’t know his work. We all had a great time and I have an autographed CD to remember the evening. Robert really was an outstanding talent.R.I.P.
Saw this as a kid, when i was way too young... Stole the joke about the mountain lion and kitty litter.... used it all growing up Years later, his HBO special came on. Was laying in bed w my GF at the time, trying my damndest not to laugh so she didnt think I was a perv..... the mountain lion joke came on and i lost it.... THATS THE GUY! Had no idea who he was until then. Fast forward 10 years. Met him after a show at the improv. Told him the story. He thought it was cool as hell, told his wife about it. Dragged him into having a drink before he left. Made plans to get another next time he was in OC. Then he died.... Still have a cool pic of that night. Always gonna be my favorite comedian. Guy was hilarious.
Sure, Bob was a great comedian; the best I ever saw who never made it big. But he was also a wonderful person. In the early days of the internet, I went on his website to order two CDs of his old material. I already had his two officially released discs. Ecommerce was unreliable then and I couldn't check out, so I wrote the webmaster. Bob replied personally and sent me the CDs for free.
I met and spoke with him during the just for laughs comedy show before hand in the day, i bumped into him and found the courage to talk with him a bit.. and I met him later after the show and he remembered me, my name, asked how'd u like the show, I told him you're my fave comic, you killed up there! Super nice friendly guy, even when he dealt with cancer, his album talking about what he went through, pure natural comedic timing and incredible talent. RIP 🙏
Andrew Dice Clay was in that special. I remember watching it when it aired. Bill Hicks was there too. That was the first time I ever saw Robert Schimmel or Bill Hicks.
@@dreamweaver1603 Kind of funny to think about it; despite how relatively harmless Rodney's own act was, he apparently appreciated the bad boys of stand-up, haha.
OJ The Viking, they all had their own shtick. Rodney’s was PG rated I Get No Respect. Schimmel’s was sex. Bill Hicks was drugs and politics, sort of. Dice Clay did the different take on the fairy tale rhymes like Mary Had a Little Lamb (at least on this particular episode he did). They were a pretty diverse bunch.
I didn't know Robert died, a shame, great comic, all the greats are gone, most all of them started at Rodney's, Geez, Bob Saget, Louie Anderson, Sam Kinison, Schimmel, Mr Dangerfield, RIP in Heaven

This came out in 1988.
Going out on a limb, but I'll bet HBO ran it for a while.
Same here😢
Rodney and Robert are two of the funniest people ever. Got to meet Robert once and the nicest guy you could ever meet. RIP Rodney and Robert.
I met Robert too,he was down to Earth and grew up in the Bronx like me 2 miles away.Funny guy-he was also a writer for the Wayans.Rodney was in a class all by himself-too funny! Richard Pryor and George Carlin too!
A masterclass in how to deliver a flawless set of stand-up comedy.

Absolutely true.
Don't forget Richard Jeni... Another comedy legend
Bill hicks
Carlin as well.
I don’t know…Amy Schumer is pretty funny right?
I don't care if these are old, they are still funny.
I still remember Robert Schimmel's solo HBO special, that made me laugh until I cried. This wasn't quite as good (because he had more time in his special, naturally), but still it's great to be able to see him again, Thank you.
Robert Schimmel was extremely funny. Had the pleasure of meeting him around 1988 in Scottsdale. He was always kind. RIP
I doubted him in the first few seconds but man was he awesome.

Kinnison.
@@garylobo348 Just screamed on stage. Not as funny as Bob.

The best stand up comedian of all time .
One of the funniest guys ever! Never get tired of watching him.
This presentation was great for 1988 comedy. I still have the complete S-VHS recording.
Ditto. Loved this entire set of all of them.

in 2020 comedy it's even greaterer
Should digitize that. Vhs tape will fade over time.
@@cassandrajoiner9933 I did. It was hysterical. I saw him live in the early 90's and he autographed his comedy CD I brought to the show.

Me and my friends used to recite this routine when we were 13. Still hilarious!
1988 - $75 to fart in the emergency room
2021 - $7500 to sit in the waiting room before being let in to fart
Beautifully said and right on the money!
This is his best set ever ---- brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!
check out Robert Schimmel HBO Special
I'm sorry but the bit about taking his dog's temperature destroys this one.
One of the best!! Gone to soon!

"How do blind people know when to stop wiping?" -- still one of the greatest one-liners
No
Honey, could you come over and proof read something?
I'm so glad I was alive at the times these legends were and got to see them

what a set!
When I was ten or twelve years old I used to watch Dangerfield's on HBO and it was always so funny
This bit by Schimmel was sooooooooooo funny!!!!
He's like a hybrid between Bruce Willis and Andrew Dice Clay, lol. Awesome performance!

NICK DIP recommended R.S. had me laughing so HARD!!
I am angry at myself that I did not know this comedian. Hilarious guy!
I was at this filming. It was like watching the 1927 Yankees of comedy! Schimmel, Dice, Hicks, Dom Irrera, Carol Leife
Glad to have found him
Underrated one of the best
That's some funny shit.
I remember when this aired on HBO. I MIGHT have this on VHS tape. Classic comedy.
Very thought provoking bit 🤣
His comedy and comedic timing was genius. One of the best!
Ok so as a fan of robert and comedy im general. There needs to be way more comments! Wish i could've seen live
RIP Robert. A great comedic mind.
I'm reading Robert's book right now... beating cancer like that then dying in a car accident. Unbelievable.
Have you read his mother's memoir? Both his parents were Holocaust survivors, as you probably know. Really interesting book with great photos.
This guy was hilarious. His act was unbelievably raunchy at times
Schimmel was brilliant. He, Richard Jeni and Dennis Wolfberg were my favorites from this era.
Bob was a f’n legend! So talented 🌹
Rest in peace, Rodney and Robert 🙏
Guy whistling during the joke about the blind people was the best thing.
Miss you like crazy!
Top G
I kick myself for missing the last time Robert was in town doing comedy.
The best 8 minutes ever
Why have i never heard of him until now..?
Wow he sure blossomed later. I remember he was so hot in his later specials around the early 2000s.
That special with Kinison, Hicks, Irrera and Clay was the gold standard of stand up. Rodney knew the great ones when he saw them.
LEGENDARY!!!!
Thank you for uploading.
2 of the most HILARIOUS JEWS EVER... I SURE WISH BOTH OF THEM were with us-!!!!!!! 😆🤣😁👍✌
Brilliant, he was the best! Gone too soon.
First time seeing this comedian, very funny
The instant classic.
This holds up so funny
This is gold
Its just joke, joke, joke, another joke, another joke.....I love it. So different from most styles today, which involves more detailed story telling.
$75 for an emergency room visit. That's all.
5 Gs today
If you are funny enough to make me ignore that haircut ,you are a master at your craft.
I’m jealous whoever got to see this comedy show on a weekly basis.

Legend. If you buy this cd I can buy a new car!

Nick Dip pretty much always gives good advice.
Classic 🤣🤣🤣
Robert Schimmel R. i P
🙌♥️🙌
...and people say the Americans don't have a sense of humour.
His voice sounds like George Costanza batting cleanup for Jerry Seinfeld after hours and killing it!
Beads are better than fusilli pasta I guess.
Too funny

Corey Holcombe shouted him out😂
75$ emergency room visits lol
Reminds me a bit of Bruce Willis
An emergency room
visit goes for about $7,500 now if you're lucky
Is it just me, or does he look a lot like George Costanza? If George worked blue, this is what he'd sound like.
He died too soon ps Netflix make a documentary on this guy
Why does he sound EXACTLY like JOE ROGAN?!
Those HBO specials at Dangerfield’s were legendary. This one has Kinison and Dice too, I believe. Could be a year apart but I think they’re both here. Ellen is on this one. She wasn’t funny then, either
so this guys daughter is Joe Rogans wife?
