+Will Rowsell There are other classic comedians you should check out like Rickels, Cosby (yeah that guy, he was a comic first), Lovitz, Gleason, Mason. There are others too of course.

+Lamar Gary You're right, I should talk. I was unaware, that Jon Lovitz was a stand-up comedian as I was only familiar with him from his work on SNL and some small roles in movies. I'll have to Google it and see some of his work. Thanks for the tip.

@xc5647321 xc5647321 I had never read or heard about his final moments until I just now looked it up. Amazing. I cared for a nephew who died from Leukemia at age 23. On the day of his death he was at his moms place and he was unable to even sit up and could barely open his eyes. He seemed to understand what people said to him, though, because he would open his eyes and try to focus on the persons face, sometimes able to utter a word or two in response. I had gone round to see him and his sister and I fed him raspberry and orange sherbet, taking turns. He was aware of me saying to him that he was making a mess--it was too warm in the room and the sherbet was dripping off his chin, all over my hands. He tried to focus on my face when I spoke to him and laughed when I had commented about the mess but that we were both washable. I told him that I loved him and he grinned. I went home at 9:30 pm, feeling like I should have stayed, just a gnawing feeling. My sister had told me that earlier that day he had opened his eyes, looked to the foot of the bed and happily said, "They're here!". Thinking he was confused and thought his grandparents had made it in from Florida, she said, "No, not yet, baby, they're still on the road." He pointed his finger toward the foot of the bed and adamantly said, "NO! They're here!" and had a very happy, peaceful grin. She glanced that way and it appeared there was a glimmer like an outline of people there. Angels? I had only been home that night about 15 minutes when my brother came to tell us he had passed at 10 pm. We went straight to my sisters and he was laying there with a smile. I think he had seen angels that came for him. Sorry to have poured all this out here. He would have been 26 yesterday and is heavy n my mind and heart. He was a Kinison fan, too. RIHP fly high, Cain.

In high school, a group of friends and myself went to see him in concert in Greensboro, NC. I wasn't prepared for his live act. It was far raunchier than his portrayal in movies. This was also in the Bible belt and he was telling religious jokes. One was acting as Jesus and holding up his hand with an imaginary nail hole in it, aiming it at the sun and screaming "Eclipse!". He also was telling a joke that ended with "Dirty Pope Dirty little Pope" regarding the Catholic church. I was like "Wow!". In that environment that type of humor could have caused a riot. He was still hilarious in his screaming and the timing of his delivery.
In our wonderful high school planning we took the SAT's the next morning. I took my test and was a little tired. My friends later asked me in school about how sick I had gotten. I told them I had not gotten sick. I didn't know what they were talking about. It turned out that all the rest of my party got food poisoning from the restaurant we had eaten at before the Sam Kinison show. They were joking that I must have set them up. LOL. I guess I may have not eaten the same entree they ate or something.
We were shocked with Sam Kinison's untimely passing due to a drunk driver.

@Notturnoir I got a good score. I was strongest in the maths and sciences. I later retook the test which slightly improved my score. My friends did poorly on the test due to their illnesses. They later retook the tests to improve their scores.

In '87 I won tickets to front row of Sam at the Paramount in Seattle.
Walked up and slapped his hand at end of show... he yelled down to me, "Hey, go over there !" (pointing to side of stage.)
Luckily I had the next 2 days off.
After waking up in the Park Hilton the next day and finally managing to get home to Tacoma after his hotel fiasco...took another day to return to sanity.
    WOW.
